HI,
I bought my Nexus S From a shop that rooted it installed busybox, superuser and all the stuff you need for completely open phone, and they changed the boot animation (after the Google screen) into their ad. can someone extract his boot animation and post it here, i searched everywhere and found only lower resolution animations (and if i put them the device wont start).
Thanks.
You can download the 2.3.3 OTA, extract bootanimation.zip under system>media then upload back to your phone using ADB or root explorer.
Or you can just put a new ROM
I don't want to change rom because I got used to this one and I need Hebrew (included in my current rom) and I preffer no to mess up my device (I run modaco custom rom r5)

Both should contain the stock boot animation.
the resolution of the boot animation in GRI40 is 512X256 and i read somwhere that if the resolution isnt the same as the screen resolution the device wont work

Go to your settings and see which build number you have, then just download the rom with the same build number.
Here's the bootanimation zip file.

How do I replace the 2.1 green htc w/white background to the original 1.5 htc hero silver w/black background and same for the hero logo from the original stock to replace that welcome to now ulgy animation. I have the image files and sound file for the 1.5 stock. I just don't know the commands and if I need to do anything special like rename files etc.
Two different processes - the first screen you see is your splash screen. In order to change this you need to run eng spl....you will find that if you search the forums....it involves setting s-on to s-off and enabling fastboot....
The second thing you see, the animation, is your boot screen...you can replace that with your current one by making it the same name....just remove the old one and put your preferred one in its place....you can do this via adb or with root explorer....
I don't remember the location of the bootscreen zip file in 2.1 because I haven't used it in a long time and I know its different than 2.2...but I am sure someone that uses it could tell you or you could prob find it by searching sense boot animations

Thank you for the info.
Any time, let me know if you need help with that

For the boot animation, it's /system/media. That's where mine is.
EDIT: oops, that's on 2.2. Sorry.
Sent from my CDMA Hero. I got some hot Froyo on Hero action here!
bootanimation.zip is in system/media in 2.1
I wasn't sure about 2.1 having not used it in so long and didn't want to give bad information

Hey everyone, got a bit of a puzzler.
So I'm running an AOSP gingerbread build (2.3.1) and it has the crt screen off animation that we love.
However, I just updated my dad's nexus to the official 2.3.3 last night, and have noticed that it still has the old screen off animation, rather than the crt one. Any idea why this would be, or how to fix it?

Try flashing the update again? Maybe it didn't copy right...

Go to Settings > Display > Animations select "All Animations" and see if that works.
I checked that and it was set right. This device is unrooted, locked bootloader so I can't reflash the rom

make sure your Window and Transition animations are on normal speeds (check spare parts)

No spare parts in stock build
You CAN reflash the same update, just redo what you did before. Rename the update to update.zip again, place it in root, boot into recovery, and hit flash update.zip from the stock recovery.
I can confirm that this works on my locked, unrooted complete stock N1.
Yeah, check to see if he has installed Spare Parts (It may not be in the stock, but it's on the market) and make sure animation speeds are set to normal.
Turn your animations to none, then set them back to all.
Ah. I will try spare parts, and reflash if that doesn't work.
Hello all,
I tried installing a custom boot animation in /data/local but it didn't work. Any ideas where the bootanimation.zip should go on this phone?
Thanks
There is a folder called /bootimages. May want to check it out and see if that is what you are looking for.
Tried that. No joy there either.
I haven't checked into it myself yet, but in system/bin there is a boot animation file. I don't know if those are it, but a good place to check.

I'm guessing this is to replace the Verizon animation? I can't stand having sounds when I try to power on the phone in a steathy manner...

Anyone else notice keylogger and keylogger_test in that folder as well?
Boot animation process is not android standard style.
Next decrapped rom will not use LG's weird boot animation service, and will contain a neato new bootscreen I'm working on
The LG Revolution uses .rle files for the boot animation. I have yet to find any software that will allow me to edit these files. It is definitely not the normal way most androids have for their boot animation.

It will obviously be bricked let me explain
2.2.1 + cm7 = black screen
2.3.+ + cm7 = colorful screen (working phone)
Cm7 needs gingerbread
(Correct me if im wrong)
Sent from my thanks button
You may want to install the CM7 from HERE ... that's what I did straight from 2.2 Froyo to get my device to 2.3

Changing your boot animation will not brick your device.
But I seriously doubt you will be able to successfully change the bootanimation on a stock Samsung rom.
Samsung uses some goofy proprietary format for their bootanimations, unlike CyanogenMod, which uses the bootanimation.zip format.
Just flash CM7 and use any bootanimation.zip, or make your own. You'll be happier that way and save yourself some bother

How to Restore Original Samsung Boot Animation
This requires Root and a root file manager.
1 - Download and extract the S4_Original_BootAnimation.zip
http://db.tt/j1qlUFIY
Make sure you have R/W permissions in system/media before copying over.
2 - Copy the files from the S4_Original_BootAnimation.zip to the system/media folder replacing the original files.
SPR_bootsamsung.qmg
SPR_bootsamsungloop.qmg
SPR_shutdown.qmg
(I renamed my originals just to be safe.)
Alternately, if you do not want to download; you can make a copy of, and rename the bootsamsung.qmg bootsamsungloop.qmg and shutdown.qmg that are already located in your system/media folder.
Reboot your phone and you should no longer see the sprint animations.

You probably want to put something in the OP to make sure you check and change permissions when needed. I had to change mine.

Works perfect thanks!
Do this include the sound also?
I love the 90s. Good times.
I don't think so, I still had the sound when I followed the instructions
I made this into a flashable zip for those that want it.

The title could be confusing. This does not restore the original "Sprint" boot animation. It installs the original "Samsung" boot animation. The one used on the international S4.
