Samsung Galaxy S cellphone with caution sign and computer - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have a Samsung Galaxy s Vibrant and when i was upgrading it my computer said try again later but my phone said installing. so i unplugged the cord. now when i try to boot up the phone it comes up with a cell phone and a computer with a caution sign in between. please help.

Do not fear, your phone is not bricked.
Keep trying to get into download mode using the 3 button combo. It should work eventually

Could even mean you are posting in the Galaxy forum not the Vibrant forum ???

Read up more on odin. Some suggestions, make sure you are using the rear usb port. Right click odin and run as administrator. Read odin thread about different ways to enter download mode.
Did you flash anything, our are you just running stock? Where did you buy the phone?

And if it did just all of a sudden go bat **** return it to where you purchased it. Or call samsung and send your phone to be reflashed. Odin can and will fix this 9 out of 10 times

Ok pls listen carefully I tried this so many times you don't even have to do the 3 button combo.
When you are on the atnt screen plug your phone to the computer. When it recognize it, run the one click root and hit one click root and your phone should go to clockwork recovery (you should have cwm) and there is an option in cwm that can get you to download mode.

Did you make sure to open Odin "BEFORE" you plug your Captivate (in download mode).
I am presently having a very similar problem. My phone stalls at the ATT screen and none of the methods offered in the myriad of other threads has worked. I have tried all of the button combos, I have attempted the one-click, and I have let the screen flash 2-3 times before releasing the button, all of it has failed. I am at a point where a hard reset might be the answer, but I do not know if one exists. This afternoon I am getting the parts to attempt the 3ohm method.
I would appreciate any input or suggestion of a method I have not yet tried.
TIA
I wanted to mention too that when the phone is off and I plug it into a wall charger, the picture of the battery comes up with the little pinwheel, and stays. The pinwheel does not spin, nor does it go away.

[Q] Not booting anymore

Hello xda,
after the Battery of my Samsung Galaxy S I9000 was empty I plugged in the charger and tried to recharge it but it was not going to boot correctly. It always rebooted itself. I thought it could be something with the ROM and so I´ve tried to flash the stock rom on it to see if it works but then I had some problems while flashing with odin. Odin stuck at sbl.bin so I plugged the Phone out of usb and removed battery and inserted it again. My Screen turned black and I cant get into downloade mode neither in recovery mode. The Phone just stays black and doenst turn on. Is there some way to fix this?
Thanks in advance

My galaxy tab is bricked and cannot boot in download mode no matter what

I accidentally bricked my galaxy tab when I try to install Overcome Ware and I accidentally unplug the usb cable in the middle of the progress. I cannot boot into downloading mode no matter how hard I try. My tab only show a phone icon, an exclamation mark and a pc. Does my tab brick forever or what? Can you help me out. I'm very appreciate your help. Thank you so much for reading my thread.
That mode is also one type of download mode. Flash a stock rom like roto jmi with repartition.
i was DL new ROM to and my pc died and brickedmy P1000 and i can only see the phone ! PC sign if i have it plugged into electricity and ODIN doesnt recognize it if i plug it in to intall official 2.3.3.
what should i do?
I bricked my tab while flashing many times.
Try this:
1. Turn off your Tab then turn on.
2. Run Odin and connect to PC (Odin will not recognise it but its OK).
3. Just install the .PIT file (It'll be installed).
4. Your Tab will restart and you'll see "SAMSUNG".
5. Now goto download mode and install PDA,CSC or whatever else you want.
Done !

If u have warranty, claim it at Sammy service center telling them nothing about ur flashing business.
If not, read these threads and try one by one.

@IcedCube
What u told could have been told in a gentler way, couldn't it?
It seems that u have acquired ur Tab only yesterday and here u r giving ur "Valuable 2 cents" at a newbie.
BTW, our tab cannot be Hard bricked that easily and even PC-triangle-Device screen as well as a Blank screen also r Download modes for our Tab.
After a bad/stupid ODIN flash my tab now only shows the "Samsung galaxy tab" for 1 sec and turns of again.
I do think i some how i flash a wrong ROM to the device.
And to make things even more bad, my volume down button do NOT work.
So i guess my only solution is a RIFF JTAG solution... anyone here had success with this solution ??

If it still fires up, no need for that. Just start Odin, plug in the Tab and start it up. If Odin recognises it, you're on the safe side. But first get the Overcome GB-restock v5 and have it ready for a new 'blind' flash.

Overcome GB-restock v5 have been downloaded and ready for flashing.
But i am very sure that my TAB is hardbricked, because it ONLY shows the samsung logo for max 1 sec and the turnes off. And as mentioned my volume down button do NOT work
And i have tried to have it connected to the pc with ODIN up and running while i turn it on for that second but odin do not see it and it is off again before you can blink...
So JTAG service is the solution i think.. Just wish there was someone in London that did that.

Hmmm, weird... as long as the Samsung logo appears it's not bricked. Maybe the Google SDK can help then. It's including very basic ADB support, which should give you a way to connect the PC and your phone.
If not, sorry and good luck

If the phone's bootloader is still intact, that is you see at least the white Galaxy S/Samsung/AT&T logo or the "PC ! Phone" logo on the screen, you should be able to force it into download mode by connecting a homemade jig that simulates the Samsung "Anyway" field test jig. You can make this jig using a micro USB plug and a resistor.
And as mentiond i do see the Galaxy TAB samsung logo for 1/2 secound and it turns it self off. So is this conformation that my bootloader is intact?? If so HOW the BLIPP do i get my tab into download mode withoud my volum down button...

As I said before as long as there's a lifeform on screen, it's still not bricked. Anyway, the method described to build a 'fix' also means you don't need buttons to press. The problem for the Tab will be to find an USB-to-microUSB adapter that will plug into the Tab's cable. Once that hurdle taken, you'll be in Download mode and on your way to Odin's Wizardry...

I can not do anything.... I visited all the forums, but there is a solution, but I do know if the usb jig would work .. Because all youtube video showing usb jig with the problem of the panel exclamation between the cell and the computer, but they do not show the same problem as me
Thing is IF a jig wont fix it you will have to send it to get fixed with a Jtag. Jig can be made with little cost (made mine for about $2.50) or buy em already made for $8-$11.
Keep in mind when I say the jig can fix i mean it can force your phone in to download mode.
-Pull battery
-Plug usb cable
-Put battery & hold Vol+/Vol-
If you can't go in download via this method you need a usb jig to force it.
Then reflash with Odin until successfull. You just had a bad flash and a bad fs will not let you boot the phone normally and use the button combo to go into download so you need to bypass with the usb cable method or the jig.

Hi there.
From what I've met with my G.N, when you got other message than the yellow triangle, you may flash your G.N with a custom rom with no problems within Download Mode.
If you got the yellow triangle, you may could go to download mode, too and flash a custom rom.
if no way to go to download mode, then I think the only answer is JIG.

Maybe the USB jig will help you to boot into the download mode.
Can you enter CWM?
How did you "bricked" your Note?
What have you flashed?
I would flash my Note with odin.
But it fails, i think it was the wrong PIT file.
And after that, it turns off, and now i cant turn it on again.
Usb Jig is only for 2.3.4 and earlier use?
Mine is 2.3.6

Their is nothing to do with version. JIG used for Put your device in Download mode and Clear your Custom binary Counter.
Before flashing ROM please read all instructions carefully.
As they said while flashing ROM using PC Odin you should not use Pit file and Not to Tick "Re-Partition".

The USB jig can boot your phone into the download mode, but only if the phone does response in any other way, I think. For example showing the battery icon, when plugged in for charging.
But you can try it anyways.
The download mode will work!
the only exception is a hardware defect.
you can't get an hardware defect by flashing.
the bootloader (3 button or jig) will work.
there is no way to kill the hardware during flashing or something else.
buy a jig and it will work.
you wrote you see the samsung logo - that means, that the bootloader is OK.
happy flashing ;-)

Yes. But if your phone totally does not response, it might be a dead bootloader too. thats what i meant.

Well you can try the usb jig anyways, but if there is still no response there is no way out and you have to bring it to your local service partner or samsung, I think.
But one fact is good for you:
It doesn't response on anything you do. So that means it can't be read out and they'll not see that you've flashed it. They'll just change the mainboard and resend it to you. This happened to me with my samsung galaxy s.
I totally destroyed the bootloader and it won't response. I directly send it to samsung and they just change the mainboard, as I said.
For sure you doesn't have to pay anything, assumed you are in warranty.
I'm gonna buy a jig immediately, however all of them are indicated as for Galaxy S2. Will it work with galaxy note too, or should I keep looking something specific for Galaxy Note ?
It will work for you SGNote, too. Just go get one, and let us know what happened.
