My new IS is not connecting to ma wireless network ... its giving me alot headache
Plzz any one can help me ma htc desire is connected to that wifi but IS isnt finding my network
what router are you using? did you allow your network to be seen?
I imagine it's a problem with the channels, I would change the broadcast channel on your router ton something less than 12 and try again
I also experience problem with WiFi using my Dlink router when it's using channel 13. I even called HTC support and they replied their IS works with channel 13 in their testing. I tested 2 different Dlink routers and in both cases my IS fails to find the network when channel 13 is used.
Can you guys post what routers are you using?
In my experience, no HTC phones work on channel 12 or 13 as the American routers only use up to channel 11
This was also a problem with the Desire, It was fixed with just a kernel/wifi module update from the community. Dont think HTC is going to fix this, but you can always send a bug-report to HTC
Yes, my last HTC Hero also has this problem with channel 13. Fortunately, it was fixed by replacing the wpa_applicant with a modded version from XDA. So I hope by rooting the IS, the same can be applied.
I think the reason is that, the mood of your WiFi is not WEP.may be it's ad-hoc or ad-open sth.

I know it sounds strange that my Wi-Fi problem was solved by patching this WPA mod. But my dlink router is configured to use WPA, not adhoc, but still I cannot explain why it works.

Hi all
Does anybody have an Incredible S using Wi-Fi via a Belkin Wireless N Router?
I have the F5D8636-4 V1 and can't get the internet working.
I have tried setting up a static ip address, it says it's connected, but I still don't have internet access
Can anybody help?
Are other devices managing to connect to the internet through the wireless network?

I have a Belkin Wireless N, and I also had the same issue.
I also tried everything that I could, and nothing worked.
I have no idea if this was a coincidence or the actual problem, but my router wifi channel was set to 13. When I changed it to channel 2, my Incredible S connected to wifi instantly.
Strange.

Check out this thread. Seems to be an issue with HTC phones in general - they only work on Wi-Fi channels 1 to 11. It can be fixed, but you have to root the phone to change the system setting that controls it.
I can connect to my home wifi fine, good signal and everything, but the thing is when I go to say, load a webpage, it just won't load. No matter how long you leave it.
But when I connect to a mobile hotspot Wifi from my other phone it works fine.
Could it be something to do with my router?
Thanks to anyone that try to help
What router is it?

If you have a terminal emulator on your phone, you can try to "ping" the router (most likely 192.168.something.1..)
"ping 192.168.1.1" or whatever address the router has...
This is the same address that you'd type in a browser on your PC to configure access the router's config..
And try to ping something on the Internet such as one of Google's DNS server (ping 8.8.8.8)
A few more details might help us help you:
Router brand and model?
Encryption type used (None, WEP, WPA, WPA2..)? ..WPA2 is sometimes downright broken on some router models..
Does your wireless Internet router work for another wireless device?
Does your Internet work from a wired computer on the same router?
Is the router configured for wireless g,n, or mixed? You might need to play with the router configs.

It's a NETGEAR Wireless N Router - WNR2000.
Security: WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]
Channel: Auto
All my other devices that I have used the wifi with have worked fine.
This is really annoying, I just can't think of what the problem is..
How many devices are connected to the router at any given time? Try disconnecting another device from wifi and see if that works.

Yeah when I disconnected my laptop and then connected my DROID3 it worked fine.
What is the solution to allow it for the DROID3 to work?
Your router only allows for a certain amount of connections. You will either have to turn wifi off of one of the devices or get another router.... simple solution would be to turn off wifi one of the devices when you are not using it.

Try changing the security to WPA2 with AES only - I've seen problems with Android phones in the past when both TKIP with WPA and AES with WPA2 are enabled. If you have any old devices that don't use WPA2 (unlikely), then try WPA with TKIP only. See if that fixes it.
If not, and it's a device limit issue, check the DHCP settings on the router to see what the address range is. If it is set to something like 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.xx (whatever number xx is), try extending the range to something larger (though no larger than 254, obviously) and see if that helps.
I tried it a second time and a only got connections every minute or something and it wouldn't last for very long :\
It's not a device limit issue because I have had 2+ devices connected to the wireless before.
I second switching to AES. It is more secure anyway.

Turn off all security on the router and try again as a test.also you might need to reset your wifi connections on your phone. Try wifi fixer
Sent from my XT862 using Tapatalk
Have you tried resetting the router? Power it down and then re apply the power. I know that it makes no sense that this should work, but it has fixed the problem twice on my D3.
I'm not able to connect to wifi at all with my One, even when I have excellent wifi strength. I thought I had a defective unit but I got another one and it still doesn't connect. I have no trouble connecting at all with my iPhone 4s, Nexus 7, or Samsung Galaxy S1. (When I run speed test with these I get about 7-10 Mbps download and about 10-15 Mbps upload) Is there anything I can do to fix this? (like an update or something) This is my last resort before I bring it back and use my old phone.
Have you changed your WiFi password recently?

Ok I fixed it. To anyone having problems with wifi, on your wifi settings click "show advanced options," change ip settings to static, and change the DNS 2 to 8.8.4.4

If I am not mistaken that 8.8.4.4 is a google DNS. Meaning you bypassed your providers DNS and are now using this one. This would indicate that there is a DNS conflict between you and your provider....and you basically went around the problem. Hey if it works it is all good I guess and of course I may be way of course in the response. If so then please feel free to refer to me as a dum dum
Edit: Let me re-phrase this a bit because it does not actually indicate a conflict. Apparently your wifi router is set to this google 8.8.4.4 DNS and not the DNS that your provider is using. Thus any device going through the wifi router must match this DNS setting to connect.
Many people on lets say XBOX do this to maybe help with lag and stuff especially if the google DNS server is closer to them than there Providers DNS server.. It is really no big deal in the grand scheme of things but it is not a universal fix as so stated in your reply. Hope this makes sense.
I'm having issues connecting to the 5mhz WiFi network while the 2.4 works perfectly fine on same router. Same thing at work... Laptops connect fine. Tried both stock and viper Rom and still nothing... It just doesn't even connect to the network... The pass was entered correctly.

No issues on 5GHz with my Linksys E3000's with dd-wrt firmware. Are you on the latest firmware from the manufacturer of your device?
Using ddwrt myself.. it's really weird cause even at work with their fancy routers.. it doesn't work nor at home... Maybe just defective antenna or something ? The 2.4 works fine.

I recently purchased an HTC One (Unlocked) and have been using it for about a week. It seems that often when we "turn it on" the wireless connectivity in our house drops. Does this sound possible and are there any solutions?
There are other similar threads... So definitely sounds possible. The last one I read was talking about dlink issues. Have you made sure your router has updated firmware? If so, I would try changing bands and settings like qos to see if you can pinpoint what the route doesn't like.

i also have this problem, whenever my phone is connectd to.wifi, my router randomly.reboots...the only fix i found( other than buying a new router) is to set your router to connect on wireless.G only..none of my other devices connected.to the router.do this, like the post b4 said, u can try updating your router's firmware but i tried that and it did not work for me, ive read some people switching from dlink to linksys routers and.problem disappears, hope this helped u
Hi guys, this morning I received the notification that an update was ready (4.4.2 update, I live in Italy but my One is from Norway). Well, just ended the update, and since that moment, I' m not able to connect to any Wi-Fi network, even if from favorites. It founds networks, says connection in progress, and then nothing. Has anyone founded this kind of problem?

Just solved, the problem was the Wi-Fi protection. It seems to not connect on router with Wep, in Wpa everything works like a charm.

Yep, alot of firmware versions do have issues with WEP encrypted WiFi networks.
WPA is the way to go.

Good to know. I never knew about this problem...
Tried again with my router (Netgear DG834G v3), and my One won't connect in Wep neither in wpa. This morning i have tried with another router (an HTC One used like hotspot) and it was ok.
Now I've tried with that other router in wep, and it connects too. Before the update everything was ok with the netgear...someone can help me?

I am also having problems connecting to a Netgear router with WPA security after the update to 4.4.2 (ARHD 51), anybody have an idea what could be causing it? I could connect fine before upgrading to 4.4.2
You try this:
Change the device name under Bluetooth, restart device and connect to WiFi router again.
Sorry guys, I found solution 3 days ago, but didn't post it thinking I was the only with this problem. To solve it, go in settings, Wi-Fi, click on three dots up on the right, advanced and then mark the last voice in the menu (in italian I nave "IP automatico DLNA", and I think in english is " IP automatic DLNA"). It turn works in Wep, wpa, wpa2...everything)
Previously saved Wifi's not connecting after 4.4.2 update

Hey there,
I seem to having the same problem. After updating my HTC one to android 4.4.2 I cannot connect to my WIFI anymore. The wifi is connecting and then nothing happens anymore. Can anybody help me with this
Thank you!
1. go to your router setting>> wireless setting>> disable the password required.
2. connect to your home WiFi from your device, see if connected (hope it does)
3. go to your router setting>> wireless setting>> enable password required (WPA/2)
4. connect to your home WiFi from your device with the new password.
It works for me, hope i helped.
To fix wi-fi problem on 4.4.2 android you have to rename Wi-fi Direct device name.
To do that you have to go:
WiFi - then 3 dots - WiFi Direct - 3 dots - Rename Device - HTC One.

IT WORKS FOR ME!! I just had to register here to say thanks, but this really works for me. Was using my room wifi running WEP, after a 300+mb 4.4.2 update to my HTC One, it just kept hopping between scanning and connecting and scanning.....was frustrated with it. I tried with another router, running WEP too and going out the same internet pipeline and it worked, just not my room router.
tried manually inputting mac address at my room router but didn't work, turn off/on multiple times but nope, was wondering if router problem or phone problem.
but then i change the displayed device name from Android_524b to HTC One case sensitive and voilah, it immediately worked, pick up the nice beloved wireless signal on the notice bar, and everything back to normal.....
no hard reset, no router re programming, no tearing the whole house to reprogram every darn piece of equipment. thank you so much
(btw, my router is a super old netgear g connection 2.4ghz adsl modem router. tried the frequency band changing to 2.4ghz but had no effect earlier)
