I have a htc touch diamond with windows mobile 6.1.I have try to connect the phone whith PC with USB.When i insert the usb cable on the phone appear active sync or transfer mode. I select one but the PC don't "say" nothing.In the other mode i have the same answer.What i need to do? I have already tried te htc sync and windows mobile device centre.
When your on Windows 7 you have to use Windows Mobile Device Center.
On your phone go to:
settings > connections > usb to pc and untick the 'enable faster data transfer' option (right beneath the 'activesync' option)
this should do the trick, hope it works out for you!

I got my Kaiser yesterday. It works fine, but I can't get it to sync with my laptop running Vista. My old TyTn was fine, but I've deleted that partnership and now I can't get the Kaiser to sync.
It appears in Device Manager under Network Adapters as Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter #5 (I don't know what it thinks adapters 1-4 are).
Any ideas?
I'm using vista 64 bit and windows mobile device centre and have no problems synching via the supplied cable, haven't tried bluetooth yet though.
I assume you are not using Activesync but Windows Mobile Device Center? Also under Connections in the Settings menu you find the option USB to pc uncheck (or check) the option provided by this program to check if this will fix your problem...good luck...
Folks, when I attach my Kaiser (MDA Vario III) to my laptop using Bluetooth, I can sync without a hitch... However, when I caonnect it via USB, I get the following: [see screenshot attached]

Right... Had my Tytn (SPV M3100) replaced by Orange. This now does the EXACT same thing. Vista SP1, methinks...
Make sure you have the latest Windows Mobile Device Center installed and while your kaiser is plugged in run windows update and see if there are any driver updates available.
Try killing mobsync.exe in task manager (on the desktop pc). Then restart WMDC.
or plug in the usb, then open windows update and check for updates, it will detect it hasnt got the relivent drivers and downloadn them for you. normall its supposed to do it automatically if it doesnt find the drivers but for some reason it didnt work

I've been having the same problem. Thought it was one of the roms I had cooked initially but then I tried a few more roms (Duttys was one) and I still couldnt sync. Either on WMDC in Vista or ActiveSync on XP.
Now I think the USB is damaged - although it still charges fine. Bluetooth sync is fine too.
Now, i don't sync my device at work on my vista machine, but i can still connect to it.
None the less, I was looking at my windows update history and when i first installed the mobile center or whatever, i downloaded an update that is listed as failing to install in y windows update history.. so.. id ont know why it fails.. but yeah..

I followed the help file in the Mobile device center -troubleshooting a cable connection. I post it her for reference. Don't know exactly what solved the issue (I hope permanently) but possibly the firewall ports?:

Check the device for relevant system messages and address any conditions affecting the connection.
Ensure that the device and the PC both have USB connections enabled:
In Control Panel set to Classic View, open Windows Mobile Device Center. Select the Allow USB connections check box.
In ActiveSync on your device, click Menu > Connections, then select the Synchronize all PCs using this connection check box.
Disconnect and reconnect the device.
Disconnect, restart, and reconnect the device.
Disconnect the device, restart the PC, then reconnect the device.
Do the following:
Disconnect the device.

I was having this problem. I'd also noticed that windows update was having problems installing a related update 'windows mobile remote adapter'.
Followed the advice in the help file re opening ports in the firewall. (FYI when adding a port just type the port number in the name field and in the port field).
It still wasn't working but when I did windows update after opening the ports it worked and is now connected.

Try this, it worked for me.
Go to start<<settings<<connections tab. Then select the USB to PC icon. Uncheck enable advanced network functionality. Restart PPC and then try to re-sync.
I don't even know what enable advanced network functionality does. When unchecked, I see "connecting to host" everytime I cradle my Tilt. AND I never have sync problems, nor do I get the error message alluding to changes on the server and all changes will be lost.

I use Shekars WM6.1 and On my computer I have activesync 4.5 installed. The device connects when the computer is booted up. Then If I remove the device and place it back in the cradle it will not reconnect. Only way to fix this is to restart computer.
Anyone else had this problem?

The only thing I could fine was on my pocket pc under Connections > "USB TO PC" settings, the checkbox "Enable advanced network functionality" I disabled that but my device was unable to connect.
Apart from that I don't know what you mean by Advanced USB Services, Is it on my PC or Device?

My HTC diamond that used to sync with active sync on win xp wont connect to my visat home premium laptop.
I've tried tweaking the firewall (even turning it off) and still no luck - both norton and windows firewall
Tried the dvmgmt.msc things too with no luck
Any other ideas??

I found that problem too.
Go to task manager and close instances of mobile device centre and Windows Media as this seems to play havoc with USB sync.
Take your device off of the USB cable, fire up a fresh instance of WINMO device centre and it should detect it (after selecting 'ActiveSync' on your device).

what I have had to do is delete the diamond profile with out the diamond connected. restart your diamond then reconnect. I think it is a problem between activesynch in xp and winmo in vista. But I have kaiser which I use for work and I have no problems connecting to activesynch or winmo.. go figure...also if you have tasks selected it won't finish synching for some reason god knows why.......

Try going into the "USB to PC" settings on your phone and unchecking "Advanced Network Functionality". I couldn't connect in vista before disabling that.

I've never managed to get my Diamond sync'd with my Vista laptop using a cable but if I use bluetooth then it always seems to connect so if you have bluetooth on your pc then i'd try that and see if it works.
I tried all the usual fixes including those listed above me and none of them worked. Then I read somewhere to uninstall device center go to microsoft and dl the latest version and then install it with the phone connected. That one worked.
How do you delete the profile? will I lose data doing so? same issue with my Touch Pro. uninstalled WMDC re-installed it. re-set all of the TP settings to factory(without restoring). Still doesn't work. Any other ideas?

My Diamond did not connect to Windows 7. Nothing happened when I plugged the Diamond in to my computer.
I contacted customer service from HTC. Their solution worked, just sharing with you in case you experienced the same trouble:
There are a few steps that we can do to resolve this issue. The first step is to disable RNDIS on your HTC Diamond:
- Tap Start and select Settings
- Go to the Connections tab
- Select USB to PC, and uncheck the box on this screen.
After this simply unplug and replug your Diamond, and the Diamond will be recognized by Windows 7.
