How can I have Google Talk autostartup/autologin when the device boots?
I've tried:
Talk -> Settings -> "Automatically sign in"
But when I reboot, I'm never signed in until I actually startup the Talk app manually. What's going on here? Do I need the Gtalkservice.apk? If so, where can I find a version that is compatible with CM7?
This happens on both CM7 final on my Nook Color, and CM7 RC4 on a Moto Droid (sholes).

Trying to snag some new apps & update others & I am not sure if it is working. Avery app shows "starting download" with no progress showing. One that I was updating said "authorizing payment" forever. It looks like it may have worked, but it was only an update, so can't be sure. Hasn't shown up in the notification bar. I was having a problem with my wireless router & reset it & seem to be able to get on line OK, but he market has me wondering if I still have a problem.

Try signing in and out of Google talk.. no joke
//from the nook COLOR
I am pretty sure I accidentally deleted Google Talk. That must be the problem. How can I get it back. Is it an apk? Where can I find it?
Thanks,
kev
Yes an apk. Would be in system/apps/
Not sure where to find them for download though

i'm having the same problem...
i started Google Talk, it logged me in, then I signed out ( Menu -> More -> Sign out )... (although it still seems to be running in the background )
but my downloads are still doing the same thing.
next i opened google talk again, then signed out... since its still running in the background, i used Advanced Task Killer to Kill Google Talk.
then went back into the Market, but no luck, its still stuck on Starting download...

Since I had deleted Google Talk, I just went & re-Auto-nootered. It seemed to work, as I can use Market again & nothing that I can see has been compromised. I am, by no means, an authority on this. Just relating my experience. YMMV! BTW post re-auto-nooter boot, I didn't see any Google sign in screen or anything different from a normal boot & market works fine.

I rooted my nook color and it works perfect, but i noticed when i unzipped the gapps file using clockwork nothing loaded. I was wondering if there is a way to get the android market without having to root all over again?. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
Same Problem!
Gods I HATE that my first post is a ... " ME TOO! " but what can you do?
I just got the NC yesterday, and of course rooted it right away with CM7 using huskermania's videos. Every worked fine EXCEPT no google apps! Removed the hacks ( thought I did it wrong ) did it again....no luck!
Are the current zip files bad? ( Ive tried both gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip and gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip )
any suggections ?
Tom
I've got the same issue, followed eyeballers instructions and used gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip.
Besides the missing market icon, everything seems to work fine.
EDIT: Found a fix for the issue on my nook; Went to https[://]market[.]android[.]com, tried to install something. I was prompted to accept the license agreement and set up my Google account with market.
Then I was asked which Google apps to install (youtube, google search, gmail, etc.), ticked what I wanted and confirmed.
Now I have the market icon available, also some more icons in the menu. As the WiFi was pretty unstable (Restaurant during lunch break) not all of the apps were downloaded, but so far it seems to work.
Thank you for the quick response. I tried going to the market and install, but when it ask where to download app the drop down menu does not give me the option of my nook color. Did i miss a step somewhere?

Are you running the stock nook interface or a google interface?
I am running cyanogen mod 7.0.3-encore. I don't know if that helps any?
I believe it is a google interface.

I found it, and when i try to register it gives me an error-unable to open connection to server. I used the right gmail user account and password. I know it must get frustrating dealing with noobs but i really appreciate your help.
I rooted my nook color as well, using the same instructions. I don't have the Android Market either. Did the instructions above work? I've tried going to the android market place and set up an account, but Im getting a msg that there are no android accounts associated with my account...please help!
Thanks!!
Bump. My friend has the same issue. He is an iPhone user and has no Android phone associated with his account

Here is a quick fix for the Search/Home button not working.
Now, as you all know that Atrix (or other Motorola Android Phones) come with MOTOBLUR. Once you start up the phone after flashing and the custom cooked rom has removed the MotoBlur log-in screen at the start up, the phone assumes that it is "Still Running the MotoBlur Setup", hence the locked Home and Search buttons. Because of this behavior, the Lock Screen is also not showing up.
Now, for you start the MotoBlur setup once again, this is what you have to do :
Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates.
Now, it will popup to create MOTOBLUR account, if you did not create an account, do so, or log-in with the existing MOTOBLUR account, and out of sudden the Home, Search and Lock Screens will start to work
i usually fix this unstalling my custom lock screen and my custom launcher, then reinstalling it, after i rebooting the phone

I have been using redpill v3 and v4 since aug with no issues. Now I have this one. I attempted motoblur setup it does 75% completion. I have logged on to motoblur portal with my computer so I know the account is good
The app page in the Market for Scrabble Free doesn't show the download button, and market.android.com says the app is incompatible with my CyanogenMod Nook Color. This doesn't seem right, since the site says the app is compatible with my Nookie Froyo ROM.
Is there a way to override or deceive the Market's compatibility check and install Scrabble Free?
So many threads with this issue. Look around.

I assume both are rooted if you can get to the market with your Froyo ROM. If that is the case, this might be the first time I have seen a distinction between rooted NCs. Is the new market on either... or both?
Scrabble Issue
Goto manage applications/market/uninstall the update...this will take you back to original market. Download the game... also, make sure you have the option to override - full screen is off.
I'm about to lose my mind.
Running CM7. Everytime I download the Play Store, it installs, a open it, and it prompts me to add an account. When I hit yes, the damn thing just closes. I am unsure why or what to do. It will stay on that screen as long as I don't touch it, it as soon as I tap the screen (no matter where) it just force closes. When I installed CM7 (And the 9nightly) ROM manager never even asked to install Google apps.
-I have downloaded multiple versions, even going back to the android market.
-I had the same problem with the CM9 Nightly I downloaded.
-This sucks.
On the CM9 nightly, it wouldn't even bring up the add account prompt.
If someone couldn't help me you would save me from putting my head through a wall.
What can I do?
Do you have an account set up in your phone's settings?

Well, I have a Facebook account on it, but the only other option it gives me is "corporate account"
I'm sure it has me, though. When I visit the play store website (which I cannot download from either), it already has my email logged in.
You need to flash gapps probably

+1 yes flash gapps.
