streak not charging at all ( broken port? )

my streak has stopped charging completely. for a while i had to get finagle the cord in the port just right to get it to charge. eventually it stopped working all together.
it appears by looking at the port on the streak, that the 2 pins furthest to the right are broken/gone.
the streak is well out of warrenty and i've read that dell isnt manufacturing them anymore.
was wondering if anybody has had this problem, and if there is anyway to get it charged. or if that port is replacable somehow.

an update for my situation... i checked my service tag on the dell site and my streak is still under warranty after all. so my device is currently at dell waiting to be repaired/replaced.
check your service tag on dell support and see if you still have warranty.

I do but guys said ( from Dell support ) that I am a second owner then the warranty doesn't work with me ... only with the first owner ... thats rubbish because warranty is for device not the person. Oh well ... I won't buy anything else from Dell in the future.

PRICE of STREAK LCD SCREEN IS BECOMING VERY VERY HIGH

ANY suggestion where to find a feasible price dell streak lcd screen replacement , its price is tripled within couple months !

I have a broken one laying around, the screen is fine though, I dropped it and it won't turn on, except for a battery with an exclamation mark in it.... You can have it for postage costs... For the price of a crate of beer I'll send you a Mugen 4800 battery (no cover, they all broke, they cost approx 15 dollars for a set ), the oem cable, a set of chinese batteries, a charger(us and japan plug)and an otterbox commuter case as well.

My streak occasionally does this - if I plug it into a PC that's booted into Windows, then it starts charging !
Once it's started charging, after a couple of minutes I can power on the Streak and then disconnect and move back to the mains charger and it carries on charging just fine...

Tried it.... no success, so I got myself a galaxy note instead.... still love the dell though and if someone can use it for an "organ transplant".I'll happy to pass it over.

i am also looking for any cheap LCD screen. cheapest that i found is for 89,99. but this price is too big :-/

...I also have this problem sometimes, but mostly when using a USB extension cable. To get round it I have to plug the phone cable directly into the mains charger and then once the phone powers onto the "Dell" logo I can swap it for the extension cable again. I'm guessing it is due to the phone not thinking it is getting the correct voltage or something like that. Might be a similar problem for yours misternagoya
....anyway we digress...
I have replaced my screen 3 times (got to love my kids!!) each time the screen cost around £25 (last time being just before Christmas). My daughter has once again customised my display permanently and I now can't find anything for less than £90.
One, kindly offered, spare is really good for the lucky soul who gets it but the bigger question is still.....
Does anyone know where you can get cheaper replacement screens for the Dell Streak 5" ?
....and does anyone know why the price has sky rocketed???

I think the manufacturer has stopped producing them and now there is a limited quantity. That's my hunch though.
I too am desperately looking for one also.

frustrating screen shortage
I have replaced my screen twice, and am ready for a third, but these prices are killing me! I actually broke my streak about 2 weeks ago and have been hoping some more screens would come on the market. We're at the sad, sad point where replacement screens are going for more than new phones.
if anyone else has an extra old/broken streak that might have a functioning screen, please let me know!

Dell Streak 7 broken charge pins :(

Hey All,
Recently, somehow, my charge pins on my Dell Streak have broken, I can only charge the device slightly, by pulling out the USB cable halfway. I can see the pin board is sorta like snapped in the middle.
I have a few dilemmas now:
1. This device is under warranty, so I should be able to call up Dell and get it fixed/replaced?
2. I have flashed a custom rom to my Streak 7, does this effect my warranty?
If so, how would I go about flashing the Stock HC rom with nvflash? I've tried a few stock HC roms, with no avail.
Any ideas/help guys?

depending on your warranty, you may not be able to do anything. if its the dell manufacturer one, you cant do anything because that only covers things such as internals breaking like the audio not working or the soft buttons not working or things like that.. but if you purchased one separately such as through bestbuy (do they even sell the streak7) or frys etc, then use the nvflash to stock guide. they probably will only check for superuser in the app drawer. but just to be sure you can let the battery die completely and show them it doesnt charge. then you should be in business. just be sure not to bring it up.

Hrm, its Dell warranty, so it should be okay? I'm gonna call eventually tell them it isn't charging because the port seems to be stuffed. Hopefully I am able to get it fixed :\

if you can make sure they know it was in no way your fault then your good.

Haha, true! Well it was no way my fault! I treasure my streak like it's my baby! I don't understand how it has broken, but since the charger is crappy, that's probably how it broke

yea mines my baby also lol. but be sure to pull the charger straight out. like dont try to angle it in or out.

hi had the same problem with mine and fist Dell France refused to change it becaus they said i broken it...
after a fight with their helpdesk i had a new streak 7 on warranty !

Replacement covers for the home/back buttons?

Hi there, you know the plastic caps at the top and bottom of the screen, can you get replacement ones for those? Mine has cracked.
I've seen some for the streak 5 i think: dellstreakrepairs.co.uk/spares.html "New Dell Streak Plastic End Caps" but assume that is for the 5 not 7?
Any ideas please?

I would contact dellstreakrepairs.UK and ask if they have Streak 7 parts. They repaired my Streak 5 and indicated they were repairing Streak 7's as well. Their website has a wanted post for old and damaged Streak 7's. They may have what your looking for.

Sorry, don't know the actual part number or precise name, but I believe they're called end caps.
