Flashing radio on uk version of 02x - LG Optimus 2x

Hi guys!
I got a little question. I do have ClockworkMod Recovery and my device is rooted.
Running stock at the moment as awaiting any news ergarding cm7.
I have seen the post regarding the radio baseband. I have seen many users have flashed it on theiers 02x`s but I`m not sure if this update apply to uk version. My current one running Baseband 1035.21_20110315. The update version is Baseband 1035.21_20110405 that apparently improves radio and signal performance.
I did try to flash the radio on mine with smartflash, did nandroid backup, flashed the baseband, did nandroid backup and my phone didn`t boot. It got stuck on lg loading bar and that`s it. I did try to flash it back to stock but it didn`t help.. Had to returned my phone for new one
Do you guys in uk have any luck with flashing new baseband? Should we? My signal on vodafone reallly sucks.. And battery very poor so far but I just did second charge..

That baseband is for all regions, however it also requires an updated RIL. Do a search for that either here or on MoDaCo.

They do not mention anything about flashing RIL.
I found this one http://android.modaco.com/content/l...r-r1-stock-patch-pack-updated-ril-1301920892/
Is there any chance you could help me with that please?
As I see it is:
1. nandroid backup
2. Flash baseband with SmartFlash P990
3. flsah ril from clockworkmod
4. clear cache
5. restore backup
Is that right?

The RIL is in the BIN file.
So download the zip archive and follow the instructions.

Hi kopchev. I`m sorry for being a pain but where can I download the bin file?
I already downlaoded my Baseband 1035.21_20110405 - DOWNLOAD (http://android.modaco.com/content/lg...5-21-20110315/) (ROMraid Load Balancing) - MD5: 599fb242c0224894b1ad2eb004586527 (thanks for the file you-know-who!). Is this the massive file I need to download from the link you provided in your replay?
Can you provide me please with the link to the ril bin file I need? I would appreciate.

Thank you very much kopochev and withoutwings for all the help! I did as you said, just performed a nandroid backup and it worked like a charm. Got latest baseband up and running! You are stars!

Any feedback from the new radio. I flashed my mom's 2X and I still find the intalk sound a bit distorted and muffled...

Actually just made a couple of phone calls and tested with my voicemail. It actually made a bit of difference for me. It seems to be much better in my case. The voice quality has improved and seems cleaner as well.

I'll try it coming from 20110302.
Thank's
just tried this, it worked! I previously had baseband dated 23februari, and had very bad call quality sometimes. I will test if it's any better now...
Maybe worth to mention, but if you flash this baseband your phone gets a hard reset, so you will loose all your settings and apps!
yup works nicely, didnt wipe the internal SD though... in fact I was hoping it did...
Great job! works nicely! looking forward for new updates!
Thanks a lot.

edit: fixed itself
i've a problem...
when connect the phone, he find the first , but the second and third driver continue to installation and not find them.
fixes the bad call quality
now it sounds great
My first post here on the forum (which btw is a really great one)
Just wanted to thank the author of the thread for an awesome update and an easy guide. I had problems with really poor call quality - like hearing someone talking into a can with lots and lots of amplification. After the update my phone (..0223 baseband) became normal so no more asking the caller to repeat them self 2-3 times.
Thanks again.

hello does it need root?? Will improve also the battery?

No root required, although it will restore your phone to factory default meaning you'll be loosing data - so get a backup, maybe even root and then backup.

@opusheks
What's your point? I see the similar problem but not the solution?
djmcnz writes: "Mine is also: 9B6F600CFA9F528595E5106305770448
And it failed halfway though and has broken my radio. I now have baseband ver: "unknown" and no radio function at all."
I really don't want to experience that.
Maybe someone could upload the files again with the correct md5 checksum?
I got the same result as djmcnz, and it worked just fine...
Just ask Paul on the Modaco board to post the sums again to be sure.

Which rom should I use to flash?

Here are the details of my tab
Firmware Version: 2.2
Baseband Ver: I987UCJK1
Kernel Ver: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build Number: FROYO.UCJK1
Carrier: At&t US
So I managed to root my device using Superoneclick but I'm having trouble running clockworkmod because of a package verification error. I've realized that I need to upgrade my kernel to make it work. But I'm having trouble finding the right kernel/rom. I'd prefer to flash a new rom using ODIN but I'm unable to figure out which rom to use. Can anyone suggest me a rom to choose? I'm confused by jk,jv,ja terminology
Flash the rotohammer JME version 4. Then flash chainfire cf root to get CWM. BE SURE TO USE FROYO VERSIONS NOT THE GINGERBREAD VERSION.
I believe AT&T is a GSM tab, uses a sim card, so any GSM roms will work. If its doesn't use a sim card look for the CDMA roms.
I would suggest upgrading to gingerbread as that works really well.
The best advice I could give is read any guides on updating REALLY well, go slow, doublecheck what you've done and DON'T skip steps because you read through already.
If you want to keep all your Contacts, Apps ETC... then backup with Titanium Backup before you flash as this will clear it out...
GSM ROM
Go here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071 it will give you an app thay allows you to check your bootloader.
You may have to go to settings>Applications>unknown sources needs a tick to install.. This allows the installation of 3rd party apps using file manager. Run the app, it will tell you if the bootloaders are locked or ask if you want to unlock... Use at your own risk...
So saying, this was the first gingerbread rom I flashed - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073854
Instructions were - Procedure (ODIN !):
- Download and extract the firmware zip
- Download and extract the attached gt-p1000_mr_PIT.zip
- Download and extract the attached dbdata.zip
- Flash the firmware tar as PDA, repartition enabled, use the attached PIT
- After flash immediately boot into download mode again - wait for it to go to the samsung LOGO here as a whole heap of writing goes up the screen then it reboots. DO NOT TURN OFF UNTIL IT REBOOTS TO THE SAMSUNG LOGO...
- Flash dbdata.tar as PDA (NO repartition) in ODIN again.
- After flash immediately boot into recovery mode
- Wipe cache
- Wipe data / factory reset
- Wipe Dalvick cache
Then flash this in ODIN - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=593112&d=1305133135
This will root your device.
I then updated to this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074759
Cheers...
Added this set of instructions, it has pictures, remember there will be some differences... - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=596770&d=1305467639
Before you flash anything, kindly check if you have protected/locked/signed bootloaders.
Thanks for the quick replies guys. Do appreciate it. So regarding the bootloaders, what should I milk for?signed, secured??
Just a comment about the procedure above.....unless you have CWM you will not see an option for dalvick cache in the default recovery,at least for mine the last entry was for cache-no advanced features like battery wipe and dalvick......

[Q] How to reflash rooted I9000 without Market

Hi guys,
Got myself between rock/hardspot. I'm trying to re-flash kernel on my I9000. Every time I try to flash via recovery (stock 3e), I get error saying failed E-signature verification.
I can't download any fixes from Market/Internet because of error: SIM not detected (this actually is *why* I want to reflash). However I CAN update via tar & Downloader using Odin 1.35, or from zip via stock recovery (3e). I can't flash *anything* (like ROM Manger or CWM) because of verification error above. Phone *does* appear to have CWM app installed, but it boots to stock 3e recovery *not* CWM recovery.
I spent over a week searching XDA and the web and tried many dozens of supposed solutions but can't find one that works. Most were either crapware or required Market access or ROM Manager.
Help! I have little hair left to pull out!
Details:
Model: Samsung I9000 (no suffix)

What he said, gets you cwm.
Plus it doesn't look like you have a modem/baseband installed, that will need to be flashed via ODIN, regardless.
Still No Joy on flashing ROM without Market
Thanks thedefault, but still no joy. Same old problem "E:signature verification failed". I tried CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVK-v2.7-CWM3RFS.zip and CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS. This is the same old problem that's driven me batty for over a week - can't flash any zips. Any other suggestions?
How to install baseband/modem
Thanks nyloncrack. Excuse my ignorance, but where do I get "basebane/modem" to install? I thought this was included in Kernel(s). Note that I can't flash any zips because of E-signature problem, can only install via Odin.
Maybe signature check is enabled by default
Signature Verification IS on
thedefault:
Yes, signature verification is always on. (At least I can't figure out how to turn it off). I read in another thread that the stock Samsung recovery (3e) checks to make sure that the file was signed by Samsung. They further advised the enquirer to roll back to version 2e which did not include this. Of course, I can't get there from here.

But with CF-Root and custom kernel a custom recovery is used. No signature check at all.
Recovery that is in use
thedefault:
I'm not *running* the "custom kernel/custom recovery" - I'm trying to *flash* them. The kernel/recovery I'm *using* is the XXJW4 kernel and Samsung 3e recovery.
BTW: One Step Forward/One Step Back
I noticed that the CF-Root zip actually contained just a tar file. Eureka!, I can use Odin to flash it! But noooooo, after I did so, phone went into continuous-reboot-loop. Arrrrgh.
I rememberd that happend to me once but I found that reinstalling a full custom rom helped me out try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379650 it might work out.

Well, you obviously have flashed wrong cf-root kernel. Grab one that goes with your current rom (jw4, right?). Just flash correct kernel with Odin and it should work just fine
And there's many good guides/tutorials in general section which should be quite straight forward stuff..

Eureka, Success!
I finally got the phone rooted and working. For the benefit of others, I describe what I did:
1. Downloaded SU_i9000XXJVT.zip (non-rooted) that I stumbled across on the web).
2. Flashed PDA+PHONE files using Odin (CODE_I9000XXJVT_CL617736_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5 and MODEM_I9000XXJVT_REV_00_CL1064602.tar.md5).
3. Flashed kernel again with CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS.tar.
The phone booted as root, registered on network (data+voice) and everything worked. Joy!
I think (but cannot prove) that some of my earlier problems were caused by missing or hosed modem file.
Thanks to all who contributed guidance.

Smartflash tutorial by PAUL (thanks to petr.klos)
I would just add, that this thread is focused on flashing sole baseband. To flash firmware (ROM) you have to add one single step.
Where is
"--Click the browse button next to 'CP Bin:' and select the baseband (FLS) file--"
you add
"--Click the browse button next to 'AP Bin:' and select the firmware (BIN) file--"
For those who get errors while flashing, this is what always fixes issues for me: (thanks to Custom40)
1) Reboot PC and just start over.
Or:
2) If you face an error in the middle of the installation, then re-plug the phone, start over but this time put the AP file in the CP bin box and the CP file in AP box.

Thanks for sharing this,
I've completed the download, currently smartflashing it to my O2X.
I'm also uploading it right now to other filehosting services.
I will report back soon. Maybe this is the real deal.
Edit:
Mirror:

Smartflash error occured . Maybe it's just a fake or whatever. Device is still at v28G.

Stock KDZ European/Danish

Hello!
I give up! I just can't find a stock KDZ flash file for my P990 Every download link is down.
I am going to use this tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737
to flash a stock ROM and then update to ICS with the new bootloader.
Every ROM i try has problems with the Kowalski kernel. The phone is just sluggish! So a complete refresh i needed as there are several other issues too.
Can somebody provide me with one? It has to be European Open or danish, right?
Current ROM is the old Topogigi Froyo ROM. But even with that i have trouble.
Hejsa. Det nemt.
Download the attached file, extract it and open the program. Write P990 as model and write down your IMEI without any -
It will download the official ICS for your phone automatically. Then use the AIO Toolkit. Extract it with the tool and then flash with Smartflash - that's the easiest way.
Held og lykke kammerat.
