More advanced ringtone editor? - myTouch 3G Slide Themes and Apps

Is there a more advanced ringtone editor for android that cut out sections of songs?
Ringdroid only allows you to specify a section, not to Splice sections together.

i was lookin for something like this too.. i read somewhere there is a app called mixer or along those lines i havent found anything though

It's called ringtone maker, i think its the best one available it allows you to fade in and out of your ringtone or notification. As far as splicing i think your looking for a media editor not just a simple ringtone maker.

i no one
its called ringdroid! u can take snipits of any sound file, and save them as ringtones, notifications, exc. its free too!

Keyboard Slide out Sounds....Change

Does anyone know where the sounds are for the slide out keyboard, when you slide it out there is sound EX. Piano, Wind Chimes etc. Where is the sounds located in the phone, Windows? Because it would nice to change it to what you want, or have your own sound and convert it to the sounds that would work when you slide out your keyboard. Anyone know where it is?

Got this from another thread a while back - was going to just link to it, but couldn't find it so I attached the file here.
I actually turned mine off in the end though.
thanks so much, i probably will turn mine off too, but if you can get like an mp3 song that you like and just get a clip or something or like record your own voice that would make it lot better, and where is it in the phone though? someone needs to tell me how to create cabs.
I haven't tried the cab changing the sliding sound is a bit of a process.I only just figured this out and i had some inspiration from a post on Modaco.
The opening and closing sounds are wav files stored in the \windows directory on the phone. There are three files total and the naming convention of the existing files are: 1.wav; 1_in.wav, 1_out.wav. 1_in is the sound of the slider closing while 1_out is the slider opening. I'm not sure if you have to keep this convention or not and you'll understand why in a second.
Using a registry editor navigate to: HKLM>software>HTC>SlidingSound. Here you'll find the keys for the existing slider sounds (0-2 on an ATT Tilt rom). Inside each key are three values: default, in and out. If you check the properties of each value you'll find the name of the sound and the filename for the in and out sounds.
All you have to do at this point is to copy the entries into a new key with values to match your filenames. I kept the numerical sequence (0,1,2, 3).
The more I think about it I don't think you need the 1.wav file at all just the in and out wav files but that's the info I got from the Modaco form topic about changing the slider tone for the VOX. I'll have to try and see what happens. Hope this helps.
Oh yea it does, even though i might not be able to do its great to understand or know something about it, thank you so much
OK, ive created the wav files ( default, in, out) created the new key and new string value but i dont know how to create the value data which is where i think after i get i can create a cab, but i dont know where the numbers and letters lead.
just download the attached, and the sounds will show up in the drop down. just like that.
Interesting...volume control is done through the main settings volume menu?
Hmm, I've installed that .cab posted above, but I can't find it anywhere...
I've don this a couple of times but never used a cab to get it done. using a registry edit (phm, etc...) is much easier. put the .wav file in the phone windows folder on your phone and then use the editor to write the paths. do a serch for a link to detailed steps.
thanks
thanks for the sound cab for the sliding open and closed it worked really well, just a shame the lightsabre opening clip isnt long enough, seems to stutter then nothing,as for closing it sounds perfect

LOUD Ring Tones

Anyone know where I can get standard LOUD ring tones for the Tilt?
Also, what folder does it need to be in in order for the sound menu to find it?
If it's just an incoming call ringtone then it can be anywhere I think, just select "Set as ringtone".
If you want a custom text or email tone you have to drop it into the 'windows' folder, then you'll be able to find it in the drop-down menu for sounds and notifications.
In order to make your tones louder, you can download a free piece of software called "Audacity".
I had a few tones that were a bit too quiet, so I gave 'em a boost using Audacity.
I regretted it a bit when I was in the Doctor's waiting room and the "2 girls 1 cup" tune blared out when I received a call!

I use the "Top Cat" theme tune now.
That makes everyone smile, whereas the aforementioned tone only got the occasional "knowing" smirk from internet weirdos.

So there is something in this world that can gross you out... Personally the repair rech for my equipment at work told me to look that video up about 5 or 6 months ago and I felt for sure I was going to throw up.

OK guys... just settle down.... Here is a QUICK way to increase the volume of any ring tone you want:
1. Connect your phone to ActiveSync with your PC. In ActiveSync, click on Tools/ Explore Pocket PC, Click on My Windows Mobile device/ Click on Windows, and locate all the Wav files including your ring tones. Copy them into a new folder on your DeskTop.
2. On your DeskTop, click on Start/ All programs / Accessories / entertainment / Sound recorder.
3. In sound recorder, click on file and open and select to open the folder you saved those wav files in, then select a desired wav file.
4. Click on effects, then increase the volume (25%). Save the new NOW LOUDER wav file into the folder created earlier. Chose a new name.
5. You can repeat No. 4 above and each time you do it the volume will increase by 25%.
6. when done copy the newly created (LOUDER) wav files into Windows on your device using the activeSync window.
Good luck...
Or you could download GoldWave, a free audio editing suite.
I use adobe audition to edit my mp3's to create ringtones, as well as amplifying them. GoldWave does this too but is far more basic (when i say basic theres still a hell of alot it can do, just not as intuative as audition, but then thats not free is it!)
http://makeownringtone.com with default settings produces ringtones with good loudness.
Sparrowhawk; any chance of you posting the Top Cat wav file? Thanks!

[Q] Where is this ringtone file located?

Recorded file of the ringtone I asked is attached.
It's in Messaging / Gmail / Email -Settings-Notification settings-Select ringtone-scroll up2top
u will probably see a "Default Ringtone". -- which is not listed in system settings-sounds-notifications.
A friend of mine asked me to send this ringtone to him, but rookie like me cannot find where the ringtone file actually is. ..... already tried /system/media/
well it may be stupid but can someone help me find it?
Seems that both froyo & gb roms contain this ringtone. Searched several pages for it but still got no answer.
From your home screen:
Press the Menu Button
Select Settings
Select Sound
Select Notification Ringtone
This is your Default Notification Sound. If you want your messages to make a different sound than the default notification that it uses for everything else (email, updates, etc.) you would change it in the menu you listed. The "Default Ringtone" is simply a pointer.
Thanks for reply but afraid it's not what I need. I know I can change it to everything else .
My point is to get this exact ringtone file --which sounds a little boring . /_\

Dude you are completely missing the question.
OP
I just looked in /system/media/sounds/ringtones
And notifications, I didn't find it either, but I don't have a "default ringtone" option at the top either...
But why do you need to extract it? You have the sound right there in your first post? Just convert it to .ogg format and drop it in your friend's phone where it should go...

that's a recorded one not a lossless one as he requests..
sounds silly but I also like to find out.
I tried Serendipity_6.4 & continuum 5.41 they both have this default ringtone (difference is S has it as phone Ringtones, C has it as notification sound.
).
There are some posts here about people had set to another ringtone but sometime still heard this default one ringing , in lately builds of roms.
I notice the /system/build.prop does specify ro.config.ringtone and ro.config.notification_sound. Perhaps this would be the file name you're looking for.

Here is another twist for you. On Cog 4.4.2 my default notification is NOTHING. It doesn't make any sound at all.
All I can say at this point is to play every notification/ringtone file on your phone and see if you can find it.

IPhone and IPad OS System Sounds

I've searched the threads and found nothing that contained these files anywhere, so I decided to Jailbreak my IPad and pull these files off of it. I mostly did this for the Lock/Unlock sounds because I personally think they sound a lot more crisp and louder than Androids Lock/Unlock sounds. Included are 63 system sounds all converted to Mp3 at 320 kbps. Ranging from alarms, sms tones, lock sounds, etc.
If you choose to want to change your unlock/lock noise, use Root Explorer. Goto /system/media/audio/ui. You'll see "Lock.ogg" and "Unlock.ogg", rename the extension to ".ogg.old" or whatever you prefer. Than put the Lock and Unlock Mp3 files in that same /system/media/audio/ui folder and just rename the file extension to .ogg. Immediately the files should work.
I hope at least one person finds this of use.
thanks I'm sure there are some people looking for these sounds. These sounds are the least annoying to hear over and over
does this include the keyboard touchtone sounds? if so, that is all I really want. that and maybe the sent message notification sound. thanks
EDIT: Going through the .zip now. I think the keyboard sounds may be Tink.mp3 and Tock.mp3. if so, how do I apply those to my phone? in system/media/audio/ui the keyboard sounds are this: KeypressDelete, KeypressReturn, KeypressSpacebar, and Keypress Standard. How will android know which of the two apple sounds to use for which of the keypresses? if that makes any sense lol
I followed the OP's exact directions for the lockscreen and things went haywire, it was playing my ringtone for when I unlocked the screen. May not work on the ROM I am on?

That's really odd. On all android devices and roms, that's where you'll find the lock and unlock sounds. I dunno, my best advice is just to make sure you put the right file in the folder. Best way to do that is just clicking the "lock.ogg" and "unlock.ogg" file in the /system/media/audio/ui folder and seeing what your music player plays. It should play the desired sound. If it plays your ringtone, than that's your issue.
Also try a reboot if you haven't. Sometimes the phone doesn't recognize the fact a new file in the folders, so check that out too

So I was checking out the keyboard for my IPad and all the noises it makes. It solely uses the "Tock" file. That's the only sound it makes for Delete, Return, Spacebar, and Standard. So I tried it out, and replaced all the noises, I hate to say, but it didn't work out too well. If you text REALLY slowly, yeah, it would work just fine. I personally text quick as hell, so it only played once every 3 letters. Kinda annoying, so I just switched it back down to normal.
Sucks, I really don't like the typewriter noise that comes stock. I'll mess with it tonight, and see if I can shorten the audio clip ever so slightly, and see if that's the reason why it wasn't playing so smoothly? I'll keep you posted
This is great

Same with me, even if I restore the original sounds it will give me no result no matter what I use. No sounds work; lock, unlock, camera, keyboard, click, none work, only one that works is the lowbattery sound and ringtones.
Have you checked your permissions for the folders and files? this might help, even though it did nothing for me.
Can anyone help me and Rene_ajax with this problem? :good:
I made a post/thread about this and all I got was no solution.
Working like a charm on my N10, thanks OP.

But look like Following MP3 have some problem to play.

Tock.mp3

Sorry to revive an old thread, but this initially didn't work for me.
It took me a moment to realize that the lock and unlock sounds are not capitalized, which of course is seen as a different file in Linux/Android. If anyone going forward has issues with it not playing, this is the likeliest cause.
Linux is case sensitive. Look at how the previous .ogg file was written. The one you replace it with must match or the system will disregard it as the filename doesn't match.

[Q] Ringtone for specific prefix

Hi!
I have the One for a week now and I am on Android for a week now.
Since it is very customizable, I am wondering if anyone knows if there is an app or setting that allows to asign a certain ringtone to a specific prefix.
So when a number with a prefix like +49 211 XXXXXXX is calling, this certain ringtone is chosen instead of the standard ringtone...
Thanks in advance!
You can choose different ringtones in your contact list.
so click on a name and change ringtone, thats how it works for me.

Thank you. I know this already.
What I would need is unreleaded to a specific contact but more to a specific place.
In my case, the place I work at. Since I get calls from anywhere in my work place, I cannot have all these numbers (> 1000) and I do not want to...
But since my work place has a specific prefix, it would be nice being able to use this one to assign a certain ringtone.
Tasker can probably be setup to do that.
