Man, i use a TPU cover and an "Invisible Shield", both bought at ebay.
The TPU cover helps to prevent damage to the device as a whole while the Invisible shield protects effectively the phone screen (is made of a military material).
You can find those at the links below:
TPU Case: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250753752797&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Screen Protector: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220728211467&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Responding to your question: Yes! Definitely i think it's a best idea to have a cover and a screen shield, because otherwise your device will have a few scratches as the time goes by, even if you don't drop it accidentally. (IMO)
I have a protector on the back plastic cover but NO protector on the screen. I never use phone case. I always put the phone in my pants or jacket pocket. 3 months on & the screen is still like new.
Right now I'm using front and back but I want to take the front off just because the edge of the sheild getscrap on itand it annoys me

I roll au naturale.
Every time I get a new phone I usually end up spending over $60 on cases and screen protectors at the store, and within hours I just want to take them off.
So, this time... bareback.
No scratches on the screen, minor scuffs and micro scratches on back, one small indent on bezel. Dropped once onto linoleum.. no signs of damage.
Does the xtreme guard fit perfectly on the phone? I bought a 5 pack of some others on ebay, and they don't lay down all the way on the top and bottom of the phone. Because of the curve I'm guessing.
Also, is it a dry application?
On topic - I bought the phone last week and havent been using a screen protector. When I'm not using it it goes back into my belt holster case.

Ditto and 2 months here. Not a scratch on the phone. There is a scuff on the lip around the edge from when I slipped on ice and the phone went flying and landed screen down.
The my phone is naked, always Don't have one scratch or issues with dust etc.
Never use any covers or anyting. And its always like new, just dont put your phone and keys in the same pocket ant it'll be scratchless

Same here. No screen protector, no case!!!!!!
Really? I want to go naked but I'm too scared to. It feels like its going to slip out of my hands. But none of the cases do the phone justice. It just looks so nice naked.
And the screen protector...I have one and its annoying cuz it gets oily and smudges all over. But this phone is my baby and I don't want to scratch it.

not sure whether to stay naked or cover up ;-)
Had my NS for a few weeks (and lovin' it)
First I bought a leather flip case, then thought . . . why cover up such a sexy looking phone?
then after another week I got worried again and ordered a "S" curved gel case (that looks just as good as the phone), along with a car connector and a screen protector . . .
then struggled to get the case on ! (it's not gel it's plastic) and so stiff I'm scared I might break the screen whilst pushing the phone into it
and I always seem to get specks of fluff and little hairs under the screen protectors, so I haven't put that on yet
but so far my NS screen and body has remained scratch-free and shiny
Well for what its worth...nexus s i think is made with gorilla glass which is said to be VERY hard to scratch....google gorilla glass pen test.....dude stabs a dell streak w/ gorilla glass 50 times with a bic and its fine lol

It's a phone, do you want to preserve it perfectly for the next 2 years so that the person you sell it to benefits while you suffer with a bulky case and crappy screen protector? I've dropped mine on the bathroom tile screen down and there was no damage to the screen (some slighty scuff on the plastic). You're meant to use these things, not baby them, it's a TOOL. You'll get a new one in 1-2 years (less if you're like me lol).
Using ghost armor (invisible shield) on the screen otherwise its bareback. Keep it now in a plastic belt clip that newly came out on eBay. Funny thing...Sprint don't even have the holster for this new phone

Ctai. Wow. I always looked at nexus S as my phone (captivate) on steroids...unbelievable how they dont have g glass OR external sd. Back to topic...DEFINITELY use a quality screen protector. Otterbox commuter cases are usually pretty good looking and come with screen protectors. I have a cappy with g glass and would NEVER sport it without the proper profilactics.

I, personally, will NEVER use a screen protector. When I see friends of mine with a screen protector on their phone, it looks so ugly!
It might not be Gorilla Glass (although I doubt Gorilla Glass is more scratch resistant than 'normal' glass), but it does have this curve in the screen, and I tell you: that helps a lot.
I dont know if any of you new but zagg has already a skin for our mobile
the screen protection in my opinion is bad (orange skin texture....) but the rest of the protection (the back and side) is good i mean...to me it doesn metter the texture in the rest of the phone (just in the screen) i will order the Full Body Maximum Coverage.

sorry for my bad english:S
do think twice before applying it....
cus it was too sticky, and my last experience is it tear off the original coating when i put it off..........
may be they have improved it and may be the optimus can tolerate such stickiness....
but think twice..... and good luck...
In my previous phone (samsung i8910) i have used it and nothing to blame except the orange texture on the screen and removed it with no problem at all. Maybe your protection had a defect....dont know its odd :S
still waiting for it
do you know if the display skin covers de curved glass on the edges of the display?
FYI, my experience with ZAGG products has never been spectacular. It's a soft plastic that is sticky on the outer side and get easily damaged.
i think it doesn't you can see it on the pictures in zagg's website. still wating for it..i think it will never came

I always use zagg protectors for my gadgets, never had a problem with them. They remove easy leaving no sticky stuff behind, and the front protector fits perfectly to the curved screen.

I just got my full body today. I have been using the Zagg ones for my last three phones. I have tried to put it on the LG but but the small front left cut (the censors are) was supposed to be left behind when you pill the shield out but it didnt, this meat I had to pill it out on my own which took a lot of efford. I have taken the shiels out because the inside is now not as clear as it was when I first pilled it off. Any one any idea how to clean the screen side of the shield?
Installed Zagg Invisible Shield screen protector.
As people have mentioned it has a texture like an orange skin.
It's kinda "sticky" and adds alot of friction for the screen.
I don't mind the downsides since it fits really good and the screen is really well protected now.
To sum up: this product isn't for you if frictionless usage is important for you
Is it possible to get the original LG screen protector. I have a little scratch on it right in the middle and it is annoying.
I don't know if a new screen protector will help but is it possible?
EDIT
I've been searching around and at the G2x forum's they want screen protectors from phantom skinz, martin fields and Clarivue protector. The phantom skinz protector on the website is only for the G2x, but the O2x and the G2x look the same right? Only the software is a bit different.
Any thoughts
Im using ZAGG invisibleSHIELD on my screen. Im whery happy whit it. I had ZAGG invisibleSHIELD full cover on my old SE W995 also. It was like new after two yeas.
Who does not use a screen protector on their nexus s? My invisishield just got really bad so I took it off. I think I will get a new one but who doesn't use one at all? You have any scratches?

I've had my Nexus One for about a year. I have a couple scratches on my screen even with Gorilla Glass. The scratches are definitely from keys. I also have a few nicks on the body. I went a month with a pouch/case and screen protector but after about a month I realized how you totally lose the design of a phone with cases'. So I think when I get my Nexus S, Im gonna use a pouch and just rock my phone fully NAKED, who cares if you scratch the screen or the body, Its just a phone. In about a year when your going to sell it, its already dated and worth little to nothing, How much is a 6/10 condition Nexus One Vs a 9/10 Nexus One?
im looking for a pouch too. i love the way the stock phone feels on my hand.
i'm not using any screen protectors for about a month, and no scratch till now

Because there are small spots on my screen where the coating is gone (or seems that way anyways). There are others who have experienced this also in the big "oleophobic coating" topic. It can only be seen under light in a certain angle, but it's definitely there. The screen protector negates the effect so I don't see it anymore. Weird, but that's why I use a screen protector.

I don't use a screen protector, had my phone since the week it was launched in the UK and I don't have any scratches on it.
I always think they look rubbish, no matter how neatly they are put on.
i dont even use one on my evo, unless your working in the trades I dont think most people will benefit from using a protector
No screen protector since day 1 in december, no scratches either despite some bad drops on concrete which have dented the plastic around the screen.
Glass is tough!
I think building up a castle around a phone is "iPhone user style"
Can you guys post the brand screen protector you're using and your thoughts? I'm just looking for a protector and flirting with the idea of a full skin. No bulky plastic or gells, I don't want to hide this beauty! Thanks in advance!

I think you just bought a low quality matte type screen protector that's why it's look like ugly. It happens to me but my friend suggest to me that try to use CAPDASE matte type screen protector and then booom i easily notice the big difference between CAPDASE and my previous screen protector. CAPDASE gives much clearer view. It look like clear type even though it is a matte type. I choose matte type because of anti finger prints and oil. I didn't need to clean it from time to time.

bummer. When putting your tablet/phone face down, it should always be on a flat soft surface. It's pretty obvious unless you've never had a full glass front electronic.
Not flaming, but "very easily scratched" is pretty inflammatory considering you put a glass tablet on it's face and applied pressure. Maybe change the title to "Damn, I should have thought about that before I messed up my screen."
I've put it on a cloth mouse pad when I did the washer fix. Haven't got any scratches yet.

That's the thing it wasn't on a hard surface, it was on a piece of cloth and i assume there was dirt or sand on it or something

The nexus 7 is no more easily scratch than any other tablet/phone with a glass screen (gorilla glass or otherwise).
Glass has a certain hardness and if it comes into contact with something harder, the glass will scratch.
Gorilla glass has a hardness of 7. Sand has a hardness of 9. So sand will scratch even gorilla glass.
It's still glass though, which is prone to being scratched by airborne dirt/sand which is likely what happened.

As was stated earlier in this thread, all tablet/phone glass is susceptible to scratching. They do sell these neat little clear plastic things you can apply to your screen so it won't scratch. They are expensive, at about 3 for 5 bucks, but they are worth looking into. Its a brand new technology, so I'm trying to get the word out to the uninitiated.

This. Our screens are "scratch resistant" not scratch proof. I have an acer a500 with gorilla glass and I've had it for over a year now but haven't gotten any scratches on it. Just take the extra minute to make sure there is no debree on any of the surfaces you're using to work on the tablet when it's face down.
Sorry to hear about your scratch, it's a fear all of us have in the pit of our stomachs.
i have found that it is actually pretty scratch resistant. I have dropped my tablet and some things have bumped it, and still come out with no scratch!
Get a case with a screen cover. Smart covers are awesome.

As others have said, you just need something that is harder than the gl*** to scratch it but that is damn bad luck.

Nexus has "Scratch resistant corning glass", but idk if this is different then gorilla glass or not (I've heard some say it's the same, others say it's different)
I too have scratches. Didn't apply pressure face down or anything. I did keep it in my backpack with the glass facing the fabric of the bag. I guess a grain of sand/hard dust got in there.
one of them I can feel the groove with my nails and it's about 3cm long.
So.. I really don't think it's gorilla glass.
You probably scratched it elsewhere without you knowing. I find the screen pretty resistant to scratches. I don't baby my device but I'm not OCD about it, use no screen protector and I have not managed to scratch it so far.
