Can we set up a iphone development page set as hawever would like not to acknowledge its existance it is here. and should be looked at like any other device (palms remember lol)
I believe from a "legal" standpoint actually talking and sharing ideas about developing for the iPhone is against the SDK.
Have you not noticed that this is an "HTC" forum. Since HTC don't make the iPhone, and since the iPhone doesn't run WM, there is absolutely no chance.
The Palm devices here are manufactured by HTC.

Idiotic? like it or not there are other smartphones out there and it's just ignorance like that has kept the WM platform from developing, neither devices are perfect but maybe sumone here can think I wonder if that will work on WM and vice-verca, sure how many threads is there about looking the likes of a simple thing like the keyboard being ported or coppied over to WM

This forum is called "XDA-Developers" for a reason. It is dedicated to HTC devices, which at the time the forum was set up were only released under the XDA brand.
The two platforms are completely different, and share no common ground.
People may want their HTC device to look like an iPhone, but that doesn't mean the site is going to dedicate space and bandwidth to the iPhone it self.

As the mod has already stated, this is a HTC forum. Any discussion aside from that manufacture is going to be off topic. If you feel compelled to discus iPhoney, there are other venues to do so. I too think it is idiotic to request the mods to add a board here for iPhoney discussion.

Well you've seen the answer.
But a therapy group, to convert might be a good idea.
But truth is on XDA it won't take long before more and more objections get it. Just because it's against the cause.
There's also no sense of discussing it.
Even a fun thread could get ugly in no time and we wouldn't want that now.

Just keep in mind it's Windows Phone 7 and not Windows Mobile 7. The change in name is meant to denote a complete departure from the old to the new. WP7 in no way resembles WM and is completely new from the ground up. Let your friends know WP7 is a whole new ballgame and they need to get involved with.

What MS needs to do is to release those 50 "Launch" titles (games) that they promised and boasted about at past press releases for Day 1. This weekly release like other XBLA titles is completely crap. You hope for a good game then get something crappy....like that Fast & Furious game.....

Can someone explain why the Desire HD doesnt meet your needs?
Or is it the point of having the desired outer shell and being able to change OS's at your choosing?
...basically the HD2 syndrome...
Probably because they don't have a DesireHD, they have an HD7.

also, i was looking the the htc inspire. i'd like to dual boot wp7 and android on it. i'd like to know if this is possible. but i'm also worried about the batt life on it.

Would you settle for a Ford because the garage didn't have a Ferrari? That's the lamest excuse I've heard in a long time...
It's not Close mindedness, it's common sense. You want Android, get an Android phone. You want Dual Boot? Get a device capable of doing it.
Dual booting will become a reality for WP7 devices, it's only a matter of time. But creating Dozen's of threads on it isn't going to speed things up. If anything it'll slow it down.
My prediction is all of these WM6.5/Android threads will become redundant once Mango's released anyway, and people won't want to switch between OS's cos there'll be no point.

It is close mindedness, although I agree with the fact that if you wanted a Android he should have gotten an Android (I did, only reason I come to the HD7 forums is because my dad has one and I play with his). How did devices that are capable of dual booting come to be? It wouldn't have been possible if everyone was in mindset "I don't want that cause I have this".

I've been hearing good things about Mango and I think that WP7 will become a real competitor to iOS/Android once it comes out, until then however it is another story.
Who wouldn't want a device that can dualboot. It also preserves the life of the device in a sell/trade aspect.

I've seen exactly the same thing. The 1230 capacity battery on the Desire HD is way too small for a phone with 1ghz processor and the big screen.
The HD7 has the same specs of course, but because WP7 doesn't allow multitasking and background jobs the battery life isn't so much of an issue.

Personal opinion. WP7 is my favorite OS out there. I'll admit it has it's limitations, but for me there is no competition. It does what a smartphone should do better than any other device out there.

I'm just asking this out of curiosity but let me get to the point. I'm a big fan of MIUI and CyanogenMod 7 on my Captivate and of course those operating systems were not designed to be on the Captivate. In a word:
No.
In more words:
We need drivers. There are no WebOS drivers for Android devices. Many of the existing drivers that we need are proprietary, meaning (and I'm not sure on this part) most likely the hardware specifications necessary to write drivers are closed as well. If they are not closed, it would be possible--but not for a team of geeks like XDA. You'd need a major entity, like Google, to do it, which won't happen. Besides, not all of WebOS is completely open-source, just like not ALL of what goes into Android phones is. It's just not possible--even if the driver issue could be overcome, which it can't.

Yea, I was going to say the same thing. You can't void you warranty if you cant root your device.....YET..
Here's a silly question, is someone currently working on a root or is all hope given up? Just asking.
Most people working on WP have tended to stay rather quiet until there was something concrete to anounce. But given that they deemed most of the original Lumias unhackable unless they came from the factory with an unlocked Bootloader (as some did due to an error in manufacturing) it is entirely possible they are not working on trying to break Secure Boot.
But in the end: we simply don't know.
No.
No one is working on anything. Fact is, no one is interested.
You pick your poison, work on Lumia or work on a HTC device, but fact is there aren't enough modders/developers with devices to support any effort if there is any to begin with. Each device would require a different method , and the fact this secure boot is so different only adds to the dilemma.

Fact matter is there is now begin to have a interest in WP. Unlike android where it is open source and you have developer coming from every direction so it's easy to creak device after another.
