Vegan Ginger RC1 home screen question - G Tablet Themes and Apps

Is there a way to remove the black bars on the sides and bottom of the screen that fade toward the middle of the screen? I would rather they not be there if its possible to get rid of them.

Hit 'Menu' -> 'More' - >'VTL Settings' and find the settings for dock backgrounds. Turn off the backgrounds.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot when I get home!

Worked perfectly. Thanks!

Scrolling with wheel.

Hi there.
Is there a plugin which will delete scroll bars from today screen. I just wan't to scroll my today screen with the scroll wheel so that there are no scroll bars present.
This would a lot when using keyboard because scroll bar is so small when using phone with keyb. so it would be nice to be able to scroll the whole screen not only the bottom part of today screen.
You either need to remove some items from the today screen or make them smaller (if that's an option).

I would like to have more items on today screen but I'm annoyed by that horrible scroll bar.
My friend has a small hp ipaq smartphone and it has this kind of "no scrollbar" function.

Open Home Query

Guys,
on the open home screen the two tabs at the side, one to store fav apps the one on the left when I click it just takes me to google search widget.
Is there a way to change this or is this just how it is.
Seems pointless having this and the google search widget as part of the skin too.
Not quite unerstanding what you mean. Are you talking about the little tabs either side of the bigger phone button at the bottom left and right of the screen?
If so the one of the left with the up arrow inside a circle goes to a list of all of your apps (not just your favourites). the one on the right with a + sign is for adding widgets or shortcuts to the screen you are in.
He's talking about the pull-out drawer and button at the bottom of openhome.
They can be turned off in the OpenHome settings, IIRC (menu > more > OpenHome settings), Though I can't check as I no longer use openhome.

Hi,
Thanks for response, I managed to work it out in the end last night.
I'm having a lot of force closing and some random rebooting though with Open Home and not sure why. Any suggestions? - it's happened on the older version and now the newer one.

Nookcolor tools has no "back" button.

When I select any of the settings panels like "manage applications" I loose the "back" button at the bottom of the screen & I can't find a way to exit. If I press the home button (N) & reselect extras, I am back at the same screen.
Can someone point me to info about this?
Thanks,
kev
You have to use the back button in softkeys...

Thanks. Too bad the one in the notification bar goes away.
Cheers,

Or you can swipe from right to left on the very bottom of the screen.
"Or you can swipe from right to left on the very bottom of the screen." That's the kind of solution I was looking for.

xScope browsing on the Nook

I started a new thread because I'm not sure if the app is not 100% compatible with a rooted nook.
When browsing, xScope will enter full screen mode, hiding the tab and address bars also the control panel on the bottom. I have full screen disabled in the options, so does anyone know what's going on?
There's an option regarding the notification bar. I can hide everything but the bottom bar.
The only issue I'm currently having is that a lot of the menus are white text on white backgrounds. If you press and hold you can see the menu entries which is workable for now - I've contacted the developer about the issue.
OK, I see what's going on now...
When I enter a text field, the keyboard comes up. When I'm done, the bars dissapear.
I've changed the settings so that the menu button brings them back, but is this normal behavior? The bars should come back on their own.
In xscope full screen, I have trouble pressing the buttons on the bottom edge of the screen, does anyone have that problem?

Same issue with the buttons in the lower corners of the screen. I have issues with other apps also where the buttons are in corners, bottom or not. Just seems app specific.

What I did was move the bottom bar to the top where it is easier to press the buttons and then I increased the screen density to 210. That makes the buttons larger and easier to press.

Yes. Really sucks. I love xScope and have had to switch to Dolphin Mini because of this problem. I love how xScope does text redraws quickly and without fuss. Not many other browsers do that.

I did that but find that it really makes it much more difficult to use the browser when you have to constantly reach for the top. I love how Dolphin Mini allows me to keep both hands at the bottom to do everything I need.
I want to have an experience where my hands aren't having to jump all over the place just to move along quickly through my daily reading.

I had also moved my bar to the top and its much easier to use for me...
Otherwise, I like the browser, but still haven't figured out how to easily close tabs.
I honestly find Dolphin a bit easier to use..

For xscope, just tap a tab to close it.

Home Screen Blue Dot

If you're on any other screen you can do a quick swipe up from the bottom to take you to your home screen.
Do that swipe 3 times and a blue Dot rises with your recent apps.
What's the point of that?
Just an Easter egg?

It's just a hint for swipe up to open app drawer.
