MyWater Live Wallpaper from Transformer working on Gtab! - G Tablet Themes and Apps

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048959
Download from there and copy to /system/app, change permission to match the others, reboot.
Working ok, it seems to get confused when you rotate to portrait. The water switches to portrait but then switches back to landscape.
Haven't tried the other apps yet.

how do you change permissions?

Change perms with root explorer.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App

or download the one labeled "signed" in the name....and just install it like any other app.

Got the my water working, but can't get either weather apps to work. Keep getting parsing error. It appears to effect tablet as it feels bit sluggish to flip through tablet when live wallpaper is running. I suppose lack of hardware accelerator.

Does it get confused when you go from landscape to portrait back to landscape??? Or is it just me?

Mine works fine switching back and forth between landscape and portrait.
It appears to "refill" from the new "bottom of screen" to current battery level when I switch landscape/portrait but that's about it.

Mine is ok when switch from back and forth between landscape and portrait, but good observation if it is directly linked to battery level
Wish we can get the hardware acceleration going for gtab..

For those curious on how it looks on the Gtab here is a screenshot.
Just install the 'signed' water apk.
The water level descend as the battery drains. Pretty cool.

anyone get that weather app working?

No.
Figured out why my water level was getting messed up, had to go into the settings for the wallpaper and uncheck the change water orientation option.

works great!
Thanks for this, works great on the stock rom including battery level indication and changing orientation!

Sweet! Works nicely with CM7S.
Thanks!
Ya know what would be cool?
If the ice would start to melt when the battery reaches 20% - 15%.. hehe

Not sure about others but this wallpaper destroyed my battery

Agreed it drains out my battey too

Mine gets confused when I switch it to portrait and back to landscape. It's like the sensor is rotated 90 degrees and stays on the side I rotated too. Rebooting is the only way to reset it back.
Anyone else see this?

waterline not level
Is it just me that sees that the sensor that sets the angle of the waterline is struggling?. When I prop the gTab up on my CLIP case I notice the water line is a little off level like it's a bit tilted to one side. and when I Disable the water rotation setting I notice the water line will "twitch" every second or so like it's struggling and getting some conflicting data.

It would be nice to have a gyroscope sensor in the gtab. But were stuck with the accelerometer, not quite as accurate.

Works on Vegan Ginger ROM, using the signed apk.
The angle is a little off with the tablet propped up and I have also noticed that it will occasionally "twitch".
Could not get the weather widget to work.

jschmier over on the Asus Transfomer forum has enhanced the work done by Ruvort and others and has come up with some great live wallpapers based on MyWater check them out at :-

They all work for me on Roebeet's BOS 5.02 alpha.
BTW the signed weather widget is also working on BOS.

VirtualSheep - Let your Android Dream!
VirtualSheep is an Android application that replaces the boring blank screen you see when your Android is plugged in. With VirtualSheep, whenever you plug your Android into the wall or the computer, you get a dynamic slideshow of photos from Flickr (no Flickr account necessary). If you have your own Flickr account, you can see a slideshow of your own photos!
In addition to the ever-changing slideshow, you can watch live news feeds from Google News and link to them by touching the news title.
VirtualSheep is great for people who leave their phone plugged in while at work, school or at home!
Plug it in, and the slideshow begins. Unplug and it ends. It's that easy!
Click here from your Android to find VirtualSheep in the Android Market:

sounds cool, but not able to access the application via your provided links. i dont have, nor intend to use flicker, but the newsfeed thing could have been interesting
I double checked the links - they're correct.
The market is sometimes weird with the search function. It seems like it depends which server you hit when you search.
If you can't find the app with the search, by clicking the link I posted, you can find it manually under the Multimedia section.
Sorry for the inconvenience. If there was something I could do, I would.

That's a pretty good idea. Right now this one shows the time on the screen (next to the RSS feeds), but no alarm.
I'll add it to the list of feature requests.
I bought this app right after reading this page. Cool idea for a screensaver app
I hope I don't show my age bringing up screen burn. LOL Ok, so maybe not screen burn per se, but maybe screen burn-out. Is it bad to have your screen on all night like this? That's what I don't get about all these alarm clock apps --- it can't be good to have the screen on and showing numbers and photos all night.
Version 1.0.5.
- Added option to set your own RSS feed Url. Now you aren't limited to just Google News!
- Added an option to turn off the slideshow - for people who want the news without the distraction of the pictures.

The devices have a setting straight from the factory that makes them keep the screen on when plugged in. I think it's ok if Google ships them with that setting.
I hear you, though. By default, VirtualSheep keeps the screen at the dimmer backlight setting. There is an option to use the full brightness, though.

QR Code?

I've tried the Barcode Scanner by Zxing Team using 320x480 resolution on my touch and it always force closes. Am I doing something wrong or does this not work on the touch or at this res?
It works fine for me on 1.6 in most resolutions.
If you're on 2.1 the camera isn't supported yet and that's what'll happen.
I'm using Myn's latest Android with the March 8th NBH from here.
try reinstalling the app
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and it never seems to work. Does it matter that I have a Bell Touch?

I'm running the same configuration but 320x240 and it works great for me. Seems like the higher resolution really might be the culprit.

The program is available in the market, and the camera app on it's own works fine. It seems odd that the resolution would cause a crash.

how do I tell what my screen density is? Is it likely that the NBH is the issue?
Does anyone have the apk for this? I cannot access the internet with my device (MetroPCS) (no gapps either), so I cannot d/l this if it is in the market. Thanks.

it won't work for me either
it opens and runs fine, it just sits there and can never lock onto the QR barcode. it looks super blurry in the viewfinder too, is that normal?

Same here. I don't think it can be fixed.
Our vogues use a camera that I believe doesn't have an ability to adjust the focus. The focus is usually fixed to about 10 feet away... which is what you don't want for QR codes.
Between that and the lens distortion (can be vastly different from phone to phone when dealing with these poor lenses).
My camera is crappy too. I can't read QR codes.
It should be possible to write a crude sharpen filter into the user-space camera library.
Since we have no use for the auto-focus enable, I can probably hack into that, so you can turn off the sharpen filter when you want to take normal pictures.
Edit: It also probably doesn't help that our camera library lies and says it supports autofocus.
The new version of Barcode Reader APP is supposed to support non-autofocus cameras, but the above probably prevents it from working properly.

Webtop 3.0 destop havoc?

Got some questions on the new webtop. (I'm running the 6.7.232 leak.)
I know that the old linux layer is gone, but I am having a terrible time trying to figure out the new implementation. For example, attached is a copy of my main phone screen:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
When I switch to webtop, even though I am using the "shrink" mode, my desktop looks all funky:
It even selects its own wallpaper from another file on the device, adds extra folder icons (green rectangle), and deforms the widgets (yellow rectangle). I tried deleting the extra folders and resizing the widget, but then when I undock the Bionic, everything on my phone layout is borked.
(BTW, the webtop screen grab is clipped because I can't figure out how to do a capture natively, and the app I'm using appears not to like the dimensions of the webtop desktop.)
Initially, I was all excited about not having memory errors, etc., on the new webtop. Now, though, it seems both frustrating to use and nearly useless. About the only benefit I get out of it is a bigger screen for Firefox and Netflix.
Can anyone tell me (1) how to fix this fugly mess, and (2) how to take a screenshot in webtop mode?
Thanks.
Are you using anything other than the stock launcher on your phone.
I noticed that webtop with APEX and NOVA launcher isn't exactly pretty.
webtop mode is an all new layout for your device. In short. changing stuff on your phone's home screen doesn't affect your webtop's and vice-versa.
That is assuming that your using the stock launcher of course. Just re-select your phone background for the webtop mode and add/adjust the icons to suit your needs. It doesn't affect the icons in phone mode.
You get a 7x6 grid on your desktop with some space to the right and left for switching between screens. the space is equivalent to about 1 icon.
As far as screenshots go. I only know of one way. The print screen button on a keyboard that has it. Takes a screenshot perfectly.

You can screencap in webtop the same as in phone. Just hit power and volume down on the phone and it will work no problem.
Incidentally, I went back to the stock launcher because I was also annoyed at the weird desktop stuff, and in so doing found the key difference between .2233 and .230: the stock weather widget has been fixed (for me it would spin but never display weather).

[Q] Home screen in landscape mode

Are there any good free apps to make the home screen rotate to landscape mode?
I've tried several apps, many of which don't work at all. I found 2 that actually work - Screen Rotation Control and Ultimate Rotation Control. However, SRC screws up the camera in some way when held in portrait mode, and URC is just a 7 day free trial.
E: Tried an app called "Set Orientation" as well - it works, but it has the same camera problem as SRC.
Some additional information: This is what it looks like when I'm trying to use the camera in portrait mode with Set Orientation or SRC:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Note the door "hanging from the ceiling". The picture has not been rotated. As you can see, the app is somehow forcing the camera to stay in landscape mode and I believe that is why it's all messed up in portrait mode. This doesn't happen with Ultimate Rotation Control - it does not affect the camera in any way and both portrait and landscape modes work perfectly.

If you have root, you can try editing SystemUI.apk (or something like that). I can't really tell what to do cuz I'm in a hurry right now, Might come back and try another reply later.

Yeah...
Use this Home launcher
XPERIA HOME 2.0.6b
- My number one - million options and extremely customisable.
Hide apps you aren't using, app drawer and home screen settings.....
Or this one - it is new version.
XPERIA HOME 3.0.0
- Pure and clean Home (Z1 and ZU version) with only screen orientation adjustment (what you need)

Brilliant, thank you! The screen rotation didn't work on the 3.0.0 version but everything is fine on 2.0.6b. It has a few more bells and whistles but thankfully they are all neatly arranged in the launcher's own app and don't get in the way

Possible to "Force Full screen" on games already set as "Full screen" (modify files?)
Hi guys,
I have set games on my phone to "Full screen" either by changing the aspect ratio or through the settings, but the games never take up the full screen of my S10.
The camera "Nav bar" is still there, and the game doesn't take up the entire display. For example games like "Need for speed: Most wanted" take up the entire display when set to full screen, but if I was to use the same option for "GTA:CTW" the game doesn't take up the entire screen.
Here is the issue I am having, comparing both game: (Screenshots) imgur.com/a/agIwyRB
Couple of other games that do this on my S10, can't seem to find a solution.
I don't mind the camera hole messing with the UI, flipping my phone around isn't an issue - just want the games to take up the entire screen
Was wondering if it was possible to edit the .apk to change this? Are there any developers who have recently updated their apps to support complete full screen on S10?

Hi thanks for the reply, I don't have an issue with GTA:SA - it is with GTA: China Town Wars (GTA:CTW) and other games like Monster Hunter Stories and Final Fantasy 7 to name a few.
If you have one of those games, try running it in full screen.
Here is a screenshot: imgur.com/a/agIwyRB
Yeah, this is driving me nuts as we know Samsung's have a horrible burn-in problem and I don't want this to happen. I have an S8 and when playing Monster Hunter Stories it says it's full screen optimized but the navbar buttons disappear but the black bar stays their ruining my screen while playing. WTF?! Anyone have any suggestions as I'm sure they apply to everything from. The S8 to current S10 and all the Notes in between. Thanks in advance...
How do you guys manage to get fullscreen on GTA SA? The camera bar part gets cut off for me as well.
This is hell of frustrating. I have it for less than a day after 2 years s8 but this is so bad I think to get rid off it quick again.
i have experiencing same problem with s10e. standoff 2 won't run in full screen mode. it is very annoying.
On S10e I also encounter this strange resuliuon related issue. Games think I have a tablet and everything goes tiny. I thought this is a problem with the game itself (just search south park phone destroyer zoomed out issues) but then I realized that this is more like a Samsung related issue. Now, if I go into the device settings to hide the upper bar (don't know the exact name but I mean the line where the camera punch hole is in) the game starts to behave like I have a normal sized phone. The downside of this that now I have 2 huge black bars at the edges when I'm playing. Is there any workaround this? I mean, I don't want to hide the camera and make the actual screen size smaller just because I want to play a game normally.
