let's see what's new..!
EDIT: something tells me that it'll be 2.3.3 (Android 2.3.3; zh-hk; LT15i Build/3.0.1.A.0.126)
search google for 3.0.1.A.0.126 and you'll see
Another one added 3rd May 2011
Is it on SEUS already?
Nop, but I guess it will be in the next 10 days!
something tells me that it'll be 2.3.3 (Android 2.3.3; zh-hk; LT15i Build/3.0.1.A.0.126)
Is this a hong kong firmware?
2.3.3 won't surprise me, the N1 and NS are getting 2.3.4 in the coming weeks
The site also makes mention of a '3.0.A.2.182' firmware version.
I don't remember seeing that mentioned around here, I was just wondering if anyone else had and I'd just missed it.
Also, I'm curious as to the nomenclature SE employ for their firmware versions - this new one has an extra decimal place, so to speak, which I'm curious about.

Looks interesting, hope they fixed some annoying bugs
But it also have a 2.4 ??

If memory serves, a couple of Arcs were pictured running 2.4 at the likes of CES and MWC.
It was sort of concluded that either it's some sort of messed up name and 2.4 will never exist or that it will still be Gingerbread in the same way that 2.0 and 2.1 were both Éclair.
Does anyone think this update will disable the current Gingerbreak hack?
In my experience with SE updates they made it impossible to hack Satio&Vivaz firmwares
First let's get this update;-)

All I want is to have the HD video recording freezing/sound sync issue fixed... its the most annoying bug in the phone till now!!!
May depend on the SD .... I've heard of some people who have had this problem with other SD ....
what Sd you use?
We used to record in 720p with the N1 without lag, but again audio was horrible and perhaps SE is using higher video bitrate...

I have tried class 2 4 and 6 they all have the same result
I think its a RAM allocation issue cuz if u try to record after u reboot the device then there is no freezing , But after u use the device for a while the freezing happens again.
I hope this firmware will fix this because I also find it, that the voice isynt sync with movie... unless SE fix the problem with draining battery, I will sell this stupid phone:-\ I cant understand how SE could started selling Arc with so many issues:-\

I bought a legend because of it's specs, screen, finish (aluminium casing),it cost way less than an iPhone, and finally because of Sense. The only reason i wanted to see would it work is because im sick of Google waiting to open the Paid market in Ireland (i know this is the case in alot of other contries aswell)

The HTC Legend has simular specs to the iPhone and you cant put the compare the Nokia 3310 in any way to the HTC Legend. As s7yler pointed out it the iPhone has been ported to Android. Im sorry if i took 2 minutes of your time but i was just curious if it would work, or if we could see it in the future! Hell i haven't even rooted my Legend yet! So thanks for your reaction, as i said i was just curious.

true even android can be run on some of the WM devices, because of the boot process, and phone spec. But iOS has completely different boot system/process though its not possible to run it on other devices (for now) , besides have you seen iOS run on any other devices then Apple's ? don't thinks so mate..
Also one big thing to remember...
The only reson android runs on ipod/iphone is because android is open source... and that is more easy to handle and port (Not that i am saying it was easy for them to port Android to the i devices as apple hardware is also keep as close source) then a closed source system as iOS....
It will be the same as porting Windows 7 to ARM or PowerPC cpu.... not something you can do without having access to the source code of windows...
Hmm i have run MAC OS on a pc so it is possible tbh

to be nice i wont say how many ways that statement is wrong...
but most of osx IS open source... NONE of iOS is open source...
And the only reson it is possibel to run osx on a pc is because the basic part of osx is open source and that is the kernel so it can be modded and rebuild to work on diffrent cpu's....
I know there are bin patched versions of the mach_kernel but they are never as good as the one that they make when apple release the source and that normal happens 14 days after the os update...
(to end this with a statement why i can say all this i can tell you i have been a active osx86 user the last 5 years, been really involved in the help channels and know a lot of the devs)

There is a solution to paid market not available. When I had android on my Diamond I used it for a while and the paid application were still unavailable in canada at this time so I made a little search on this and I found something.
There is an application that can make the market think you are from UK or US and then you have acces to all the paid application. You still need to pay but you have acces to buy them at least.
I don't remember the name but it was something like "market enabler". Sorry I erased all android data of my phone cause there is no more development in this direction and GPS, bluetooth and camera were still missing. I can't even think of living without google maps with AGPS and speeking while driving is illegal over here unless using a bluetooth headset or an hands free system.
Good luck with that.

Not going into the legalities, but OSX is based on the same CPU's as ordinary PC's now days and has been for the past 3 - 4 years.
Hi everyone
I have an idea..and i want to share to you all, especially with DEVS.
I hope i'm writing within the correct section first of all
So my dream is to use our mobile phone as PC.
Let me show you the idea..
I was thinking to install through an application or something like that (i mean also with a dual boot) an OS like Ubuntu.
How to use it?
we have wifi for internet access
bluethoot for keyboard and mouse
HDMI port to share the video
furthermore we have two camera (for example to do a videocall with skype)
3,5mm jack port for headphone
and also the microphone
Usage could be this. Link the phone through HDMI port to a display (i mean a monitor for computer)..turn on the mobile phone with ubuntu and connecting keyboard and mouse through bluethoot and in the end start the internet connection with the wifi...the display of the phone should be keep turned off (for temperature..energy consumption etc)
I think that some smart DEV will be able to do that. So why not? I'm sure i'll use it...and our Optimus Dual should be beyond a phone..also a PC!
thx for reading.
Maybe this idea could seems stupid..but for ppl that love technology and modding..it's an awesome way to use the own smartphone

If you want a near-pc-experience you have brought the wrong phone. You should have brought the Motorola Atrix. It runs a distribution of Ubuntu which is customized by Motorola. You could eat your heart out with that phone...
Well, if we wait for icecream port (of cm ) then we should have an acceptable experience when connecting 2x on through hdmi and use as input Bluetooth mouse/keyboard.
I certainly hope so!
Im looking for a new phone (again), and im tired of buying phones for their os, (its costing me money), so ive been looking for that "godly" phone that can do them all. so far ive been looking on youtube and google and seen it run gingerbread, windows XP and heard it will soon run windowsphone7 (i wasnt that curious about apple os), but i know that it wont run them smoothly, and it cost about 300 on eBay. so is it worth the price (and i heard meamo isnt "user friendly"), and is there a phone that can run all os's?
Sent from my Droid using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
I have one, it's mad slow compare to my android, because maemo is not updating anymore. I also had it run on android, but the development also seems to stopped. I haven't tried meego tho. I still have the phone, 32gb is pretty fun as a mp3 player with wifi and browser with flash.
how did it run android because with hardware capable of running winxp im thinking itll run it like it was made for it, also its has a resistive touchscreen, so does that mean it isnt capable of multitouch?

Yes it doesn't have multitouch. Also resistive screens need more strong tapping to work compared to capacitive that you have to barely touch them. It's not an everyday use phone and not user friendly at all
I still have and love a N900. I found it easy to use with a great UI and the resistive screen an advantage, not a negative. Most of all it gave me a real Linux distro in my pocket with true multitasking that blows away Android.
I gave up using it for daily use only because of:
1. The lack of future support from Nokia for Maemo/MeeGo due to Nokia being paid by Microsoft to switch to WP7.
2. Not wanting to be locked into 1 manufacturer ala Apple/iPhone. That was my biggest concern when I bought a N900 but it was just irresistable and I pulled the trigger anyway.
3. Certain apps I use a lot have equal or better versions for Android than Maemo/MeeGo.
If MeeGo ever gains real traction and is supported by multiple manufacturers with real MeeGo devices, I'll drop Android like a bad habit.

Yes good phone
Guys, the N900 it's not for all. If you don't want to mess up with linux go buy an android phone.
for the price, not being capable of multitouch, and meamo being left, i dont think its worth it, but is there a way for it to support multitouch with its resistive touch screen, like how the xperia 10 didnt support multitouch but then there was a hack on xda to make it.

You're absolutely right! But the "big boys" will never let linux to spread on smartphones like they did on all sorts of other embedded systems. For them is just a cancer. Think of N900 as the first and I really hope not last of how a true "smart" phone should be.
Ps: I still remember the massive debates few years ago maemo/meego vs android

I got one of the 1st G1s. Then I got one of the 1st N900s. Now I'm back to Android for daily use but not happy about it. Android and the apps have come a long way since the original G1 but still leaves me wanting. I'm hoping for a MeeGo miracle, but I'm afraid at this point it'll take a miracle for MeeGo to make a dent in the market.
P.S. The debate wasn't that long ago - I got the N900 in late '09. And it's actually still going on.

The N900 is still a lot of fun to play with and still reasonably speedy compared to more recent phones if overclocked. A real Linux distro in your pocket. Nothing else quite like it. Well, there's the new N9 but that's a lot more $$ than a used N900 and no hardware keyboard.
Be sure to check out maemo.org and the talk.maemo.org forums, which are still very active.

Spend a couple of weeks using nothing but the Chrome browser on your PC for everything (and I do mean everything). If you get on okay with that then you're a candidate for a Chrome book.
But AFAIK, on the Chrome OS that you can install on Windows it also means that if your intarwebz is down then you can't use the OS?
Is that true? Or is it the WHOLE OS that depends on the web.

THERE ARE offline apps (like offline gmail or docs (drive ) you can also access your downloads thru the rudimentary file manager)
However, to use most apps, you do need an internet connection.

Hello I am just asking if I can flash my Nokia lumoa620 to android if no tell why if yes tut or link please thank u
No you can't. There are no Drivers for the Hardware, no one has bothered to work on it and the most likely reason is that all WP8 devices use SecureBoot to make sure only signed OS code gets executed on the Hardware which (at the Moment at least) prevents any Kind of CustomROMs.
The Windows Mobile days are over. No Windows Phone device has ever been able to run another OS and it's likely to stay that way.

Nope. Windows devices are all protected and encrypted to hell and back. You'd be better off getting a separate Android device (consider a Nexus device, those are cheap and good for their cost), or finding replacement apps for WinPhone.

No Windows Phone device has ever been able to run another OS and it's likely to stay that way.

Yes, we heard of that. And it's not a Windows Phone device! It originally ran Windows Mobile (which is something completely different than Windows Phone) and was hacked to run other operating systems like android, and even Windows 8
The only reason the HD2 lasted so long, was because @coutulla was behind the hood. He had done everything he possibly wanted on that device. With him not interested in Windows Phone, you all can just wait for HTC and MS to work out the kinks for dual-boot phones. Go to WPCentral to figure out your self. My only remark: Nokia devices will not be able to run android, or vice versa, misc phones e.g. Motorola Droids will not run WP8. WP8 is device specific, while Android can float around a little more easy, but both Android and Windows Phone is dependent on the cellular radio and device specific drivers. It's a can 'o worms that we don't want to mess with, and the one that can to this type of work are going away from Windows Phone. Anyways, I'm not sure what ultrashot has been up to these days.
HD2 (Leo) was a Windows Mobile device (WinMo 6.5 was retroactively rebranded Windows Phone, but it bears no resemblance to the WP line). Although WP7 was successfully ported to the Leo, the hardware actually did not conform to the chassis specification for the OS; calling it a "Windows Phone device" is therefore more than a little disingenuous. Besides, even among WinMo devices, the Leo was absurdly multi-OS capable; most mobile devices are lucky if they ever get two different OS families running on them. Leo had WinMo, WP7, Android, desktop Linux, and a handful of others as well; the fact that this is notable makes it the exception which proves the rule that generally, it's not possible.

And only think that the bigger part of cotulla's projects weren't public released (windows embedded compact 7, apple stuff and so on ) I wonder what he is doing now..and where is the DFT (probably they are working on htc one). Anyway, I think that a dual boot between android and WP8 is not possible because of UEFI..android doesn't have it so it's impossible to make it boot if on the phone there's WP8. Cotulla made a long chain to make it possible: HSPL-MAGLDR(to run android)-UEFI MAGLDR(to run WP8) And HTC or any other manufacter will do something like that. Windows asked HTC to give a choice (Android OR windows phone)..I think that HTC refused because Microsoft asked even to Huawei and Samsung in any chase HTC is failing, probably will close soon..
Why are you doing this,Android is not smooth,I hate it,so I buy a windows phone to instead HTC Desire.

And what about now ? still nothing?
Recently My bank put a App online, and this the only way that I can deal with my bank and the App is only for iOS or Android...and dont really want to buy anything else
In my country, few people every day bombard bank mail with demand for WP app and after one year we got bank app for WP8... You never get Android on WP device. Forget it.
