[Q] Need Help to Restore data from clockworkmod backup images. - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a little problem, after rebooting I can´t turn on my SGS9000. If I trying to turn it on, the startup animation comes on the screen, then the display turns off and the phone vibrates all 5s and nothing happened (phone frozen).
I still could go into CWM and I make there a backup, after that I flashed stock 2.1. Now the phone works again but I lost all my contacts, sms, calendar entrees, call logs, etc.
Can I restore them from the clockworkmod backup images?? When I try to restore data via CWM, the phone can’t boot again after that.

your contacts should come back, if you had them on your SIM card, or synced with google.
as for the rest : call logs, sms, calender. im not sure as these are stored on the phone. which has been wiped.
unless you synced them with google, i dont think that they will come back.

no i didn't synced them with google.
Where are the contacts stored in android phones ?

[Q] recovery mode backup/restore

Mornings,
Had a bit of an issue yesterday in that my phone wouldnt turn on. Finally reflashed a stock and put back on Darkys mod.
In the Recovery mode i did a backup of all my files before i started (couldnt boot the phone to use anything else)
I would like to restore my SMS messages and contacts only.
Is this possible ?
Options i have are:
Restore boot, Restore system, Restore data, Restore cache, Restore sd-ext.
I tried "Restore Data" last night after i got everything working (so i could use one of the SMS Backup + type tools, but the phone wouldn't boot so had to reflash it all.
Thanks

Nandroid Backup

Hello,
I need a little help. Basically last night I started to get some Force Closes on twitter so I decided to restart my phone, but it then was in a constant loop, it would vibrate once then twice and repeat this. I tried taking out the battery for a while but it didn't work. So I decided to boot into recovery and make a backup. I then Wiped my phone and it restarted fine, so then I restored my backup..but it then went into the loop described above. Is there anyway to a.) Get my contacts/messages/photos etc off the backup or b.) successfully restore the backup?
If it matters I'm using Darky's 9.5 with Darkcore kernel 1.0
Thanks

Since you made the nandroid backup after you had the fcs and other problems, the backup saved the problems as well as your other stuff.
Sounds like you would be best off trying to wipe your phone then reinstall apps from TB or the market. Also in future save your contacts to your sim or to google/exchange for easy restoration.
I think there are ways to dig around in a backup ans save specific files like pictures
Search for it on XDA.
Also, in future try wiping dalvik and cache and fixing permissions before going to factory reset.

Thanks for the reply.
I found that my pictures weren't actually deleted which was weird.
I did try to wipe the dalvik and cache but that didn't work. But didn't try fixing the permissions.
I think most of my contacts were synced with google mail, do I just have to sign into my gmail account and it will transfer the contacts to my phone?
Thanks again.

Yes that should restore them if you tell it to sync contacts when you sign in for the first time

what's nandroid?
What kind of restore did you do? Maybe it helps if you just restore data?
Contacts are restored even if you sign in to your Google account later ob, not just on first boot.

[Q] can't boot - stuck on htc screen

i was hoping maybe someone could help me with the fact that i can't boot up past the htc screen. i did a search, but couldn't find anything that worked. anyway, i haven't changed anything on my phone - same rom and all - but it was getting laggy lately, and so i thought i would clear the data and dalvik and all that. i figured i'd do a backup first - using RA 1.6.2 it said "performing backup" and the dots kept filling the page, but 15 minutes later it wasn't done so i pulled the battery. now i can't boot the phone (which i find weird since i didn't pull the battery during a restore or anything, so it shouldn't have messed with any files). i did give it over an hour to boot up btw, in case it just needed time to rebuild. tried a backup again (figuring the one i stopped would be corrupt, and thought maybe the phone thought it was still backing up and wanted a complete nandroid to be done?) and it said run via adb. so, i tried flashing clockwork 2.5.0.7 and it looked like it was working at first, but then it just got stuck on "sysinit." i wiped everything and formatted the sd card in case something was corrupt, but still no luck. i realize i COULD reinstall a rom (i'm using aosp froyo) but i'd prefer not to only because i don't have a backup and i'd rather not lose my texts and voicemails if i don't have to.
hopefully i provided enough information. and the battery is fully charged btw. thanks for any help you could provide
That run via ADB message pops up when the battery is below 30%. At this point don't worry about saving the ROM you have right now, all the text messages and voicemails are erased when you do all the wipes. Download a new ROM, put it on the SD card, Wipe everything and flash.
In the future, if you port your number to google voice all your texts and voicemails will be accessible from any computer or new phone no matter what you do.

Trouble Restoring Google Account

The last few days I have been having an issue with both my Nexus 6 and Nexus 7(2013).
Whenever I flash a ROM I enter my email, password and select to have my WiFi passwords backup and all that and when the phone goes to restoring it justs sits there and then reboots its self. I go through setup again and it says unable to restore from backup. I'm not trying to restore apps or anything just my WiFI passwords and networks since I have a bunch. I completely wiped everthing including internal memory on the N7 and went back to complete stock and same issue. Y=Tried to Google issue but can't find anything.

Backup & Restore problem

hi everybody,
i'm having a bug/problem in Backup & restore on my XZ2.... i even did a software repair throu sony companion, and when i try to backup my data (contacts, conv...etc) it takes forever and the progress remain in 0% (in SD card, and also in my google drive)... i have done a couple of factory reset, and still persist!
when i try to choose the backup location..e.g; online... it remains loading in Signing in... and nothing happens! ughhhhh!!!!!!!!
PLEASE check the screenshots below and if anyone have an idea or suggest please let me know!
Thank you
Did you ever solve this problem? My phone is doing the same thing. I try to manually backup the phone and when I choose my Google account, it says I have to sign in, so I do, but then it gets stuck in an endless sign in popup like you.
I had this issue on my Xperia XZ Premium and resolved it by clearing data in the Backup and Restore app.
