i installed the voodoo lagfix kernel on a mates galaxy s who is not the best at android stuff and it worked fine with the ext4 lagfix for a couple weeks and now the speaker for calls has stopped working, i got him to uninstall the lagfix via the voodoo FAQ and he has done this and subsequently the speaker has begun to work again.
He was on OCLF ext2 lagfix before i put the voodoo kernel on since it was simple.
My question is since he has converted it back to RFS can he put the OCLF ext2 fix on now with the voodoo kernel still on there as long as he keeps the disable lagfix folder on to stop the voodoo kernel from applying the ext4 fix?

No idea what version of the kernel, lagfix or rom you are running.
Dont use OCLF , use the voodoo kernel for that? Why would you even use the OCLF if you have a voodoo lagfix kernel? Am not so much familiar with Voodoo kernels, but makes no sense to me.
Dont use OCLF and no ext2 . Use voodoo with ext4 for that. Make backup before. If you mess something up its on you .
(Universal advice these days, go for gingerbread? No "lagfix" needed, and custom kernels with voodoo are comming along just fine)
it is using 2.2 froyo and 5.5 voodoo kernel.
the whole reason i'm asking this as when he uses the ext4 lag fix of the voodoo kernel his speaker stops working thus kind of rendering his phone useless at making calls.
he's not incredibly tech minded at this so can't flash the roms for himself or anything like that i'm just wondering if it is actually possible to use the OCLF with this kernel as long as the kernels lag fix is not in use

I'm thinking about disabling Voodoo to try OCLF and see if it is faster. Therefor I wonder a few things.
Does OCLF work with the Voodoo kernel installed?
I understand I just create the file/folder voodoo/disable_lagfix to disable the Voodoo lagfix, but how do I get it back if I don't like the OCLF? Just remove the file/folder and reboot, or is it more complicated then that?
And lastly: Any thoughts on which is better? OCLF or Voodoo? My Galaxy S isn't superfast with the Voodoo, thats for sure.

Decided to try.
Downloaded the remove voodoo-app, and disabled it with success. Back to RFS.
But when I try to install OCLF I get the message: "You already appear to have another lag fix installed! (/system/bin/playlogos1 les than 5KB)"
I therefor tried the "Restore boot animation"-function, and it says success. But still I get the same message when trying to install OCLF.

Just put voodoo back on in my opinion.
But if you MUST try it you might have to put a stock kernel on. Isn't there some oclf option that refers to that playlogos file or whatever it is?

I have just flashed a lag fix onto my phone, and tested it using Quadrant, only to find that it's around over 800 less than what I was getting before.
I had Eclair on my phone, with a lagfix, and qudrant gave me well over 2000 for a score, now with Froyo and a lagfix, I only get 1200..
How could there be such a big difference? I used SpeedMod Froyo for the lagfix on the Froyo version, but I don't know what the name was for the Eclair version..
Is this common? That froyo would be slower than eclair with a lagfix?

SpeedMod is the kernel, not lagfix (if i'm not mistaken).
Lagfix refers to universal lagfix by sztupy or voodoo by supercurio.

For Sztupy's Universal Lagfix, you need to refer to the post in xda. Mine comes with Doc's custom rom.
Oh wow, so if I'm getting 1200 without a lag fix, then it should go pretty damn nice when I do apply one. However there were options for a lag fix in the boot menu, and I have applied those already...

You need to activate the lagfix in SpeedMod kernel. Reboot to recovery, go to lagfix option (or something similar) and choose your lagfix schemes. I recommend the "No-RFS EXT4". Try not to use JFS lagfix since it is known to be quite unstable.
After enabling it, reboot your phone, it will then prompt you with multiple backup options.
I recommend you doing a "backup and restore" if you have important apps in your phone.
I did already go through the boot menu, but to be honest, I had no idea what I was choosing. I can't remember the exact one I went for though, but it did have something like ext in the name.
So that would mean this is as fast as my phone will get?

Yes, it would mean that your phone would be more responsive at the expense of battery life.
However, some lagfix options are rather unstable and could lead to crashes/force closes...
So I'd recommend you using the "No-RFS Ext4"
Thanks for the youtube video, confirms what I did what the right way lol.
But to be honest, I'm a little disappointed with how fast my phone is with the lagfix...
Although it is better than stock, so I guess I can't complain too much.

I've been absolutely loving the phone since I upgraded to Froyo and installed the speedmod kernel with EXT4 filesystem.
However over time I've found that the phone has become more and more laggy -especially over the last few weeks. Facebook for instance does a lot of FCs lately. Is there a way to 'clean up' the phone? Here's what I have tried so far;
1. I've been keeping up to date with the speedmod kernels and as a result have been wiping the cache partition and dalvik cache regularly.
2. Trimmed down my apps to bare minimum -91 total in the app drawer now. Uninstalled a few system apps with SGS tools -press reader, mini diary etc.
Currently on DXJPA base + speedmod kernel K13A + EXT4 filesystem conversion.
Any help would be most welcome!

Disable lagfix and apply a cooked rom with newer 2.2.1 base from Doc's kitchen. JPA is old and slow.
Well thé Best is to do a wipe cache factory fromage cmw

Well eventually I will have to do that, was wondering if there was a non-destructive way of fixing it meanwhile. I'm lazy to go backing up my smses etc! Thanks for dropping by anyway.
I believe it has to do with your ROM.
JPY onwards have been the fastest ones (even just stock ones).

I support that, JPA was very laggy for me, especially if you had a lot of apps syncking on the background, i use darkyys 9.2 with everything turned on and a launcher and i have no problems...
Yes, wipe everything and disable lagfix then make the swith to Android 2.2.1. I believe the easiest way to do this is using Doc's kitchen because it'll let you choose your country's CSC as well as a modem of your choice. The newest JS5 is also available now, and it seriously kicks ass.
Then you can reapply the Speedmod kernel with Ext4 lagfix.
Just flashed Doc Rom with JS5. So far pretty fast without lagfix. I'm getting some annoying Force Closes of the 'Phone' process though. Happens twice on startup. Is there any fix for this?
My Rom consisted of;
JS5 base v9_6_6 with WIPE
Hardcore Kernel
ZSJPE modem
XSP CSC
I was previously on stock DXJPA with the hardcore kernel.
Hi there, how can I disable speed mod lag fix? i was thinking if you just uninstall it from the APPLICATIONS section, u disable it. I think i am not right.
Kindly guide me how to exactly disable it.
boot into recover go to advance speedmod features and select disable lagfix then reboot and job done
Hi there, thanks for the quick reply. would appreciate some more help, HOW TO DISABLE YA OK 1.5 one click installer lag fix ? if I try the same way as you wrote for speedmod, it does not give me the same options. I reboot and go to the recovery mode by pressing the VOODOO TOGGLE REBOOT, it goes in CWM. asking me again and again for the voodoo update.zip which i tried to install but did not succeed.

I am using galaxy S i9000 (international). I have stock 2.1, upgraded to 2.2 (kies), Z4root, and OCLF. Initially OCLF was just mind blowing....but after 1 month things are lagging horribly (its even worse than 2.1) My questions are:
1. Does installing apps on the SD card cause lagging even after OCLF (I am thinking like that as before installing OCLF i had to move all the apps from the SD card to the Internal storage)
2. Is there a possibility of a bug causing random crashes, which i am experiencing
3. Ultimately will removing the OCLF and reapplying it solve the lag issue ( has any one done that?
Please help
Will change the ROM as last resort (but dont want to at the moment)
p.s= my friends with iphones are really bugging me due to my phones random crashes, lags...

It used to be good but is just outdated nowadays.
Revert the Lagfix in OCLF, then get rid of it.

I would also look into flashing a 2.2.1 ROM as well. XWJS7 is the newest one at the moment.
Do some reading about flashing with Odin3. Do some research and read some tutorials posted on the forums.

Few minutes ago, I flashed my SGS I9000 with webstar1's Ultimate ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=854799, everything's going fine, and i'm pretty much satisfied with the functionality and such.
However, when i ran a speed check with Quadrant Standard, it shows that my speed is benchmarked at 1100. Before i used this ROM (was using stock), it was at 1700 with voodoo. Right now, voodoo is disabled because I created the disable_lagfix folder. Is it possible for me to enable voodoo? Or will it create some clash with the ROM itself and cause troubles to my phone?

Re-enable the lagfix by deleting the file. No, there shouldn't be any issues. This would however work if you're once again on the Voodoo kernel after flashing the new ROM. If you're not, flash that first.
And for the record, Quadrant doesn't mean squat!
Does that mean i should flash the voodoo kernel first, without remove the disable_lagfix folder? Or i should try removing the folder, and if any problems persist, then flash the kernel? If i feel that the experience using the ROM is smoothe, i shouldn't enable voodoo anyway i guess..

It wouldn't matter either way. The lagfix would only activate on Voodoo kernel with the disable file/folder removed.
EDIT: DamianGTO's lagfix implementation is different, I believe. The Voodoo folder would have no significance when on that kernel. I would suggest you to stick with the new kernel over the basic Voodoo one. You can activate lagfix from CWM Recovery.
