Hi I want to install a 90 -120 sec animation video, like this Dilbert Clip:
youtube.com/watch?v=NKsIipdGswY&list=SL
to my Droid X.
I want the video to play automatically every time the device is turned on/ rebooted.
What would be the best way to do this?
via rooting the device?
or via creating as an application?
Would rooting through the Operating System impact functionality at all?
How much could something like this cost if I were to get professional help?
Appreciate any advice help on how I can get this done.
Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to change this from 15% to something like 3-5% since i feel that 15% is a little bit too early for the phone to shut off a lot of multimedia functions.. at 15% thats still close to 1hr+ of HD movie viewing..
I would love this one too
I hope someone has the answer to this question, very annoying setting!
There is currently no Settings option for that.
Incredibly Samsung has baked those limits in with no way for the user to change it, just like the 'OMG OMG I'm charged unplug me' notification you can't turn off.
The only way would be if someone dived into the Samsung source-code, figured out what the **** they did and undo that or create an entry in the Settings menu for it.
I'm planning to dive into it once the 2.2 source gets released to at least make it shut up about being fully charged but until then, you're stuck with the limits unless some custom ROM stripped those out somewhere and you can use that.
Still no solutions ?

These stupid restrictions are built into Samsung's apps.
If you download alternate apps like mVideoPlayer for video playback and Camera 360 for photos, they will work right until the phone shuts down!
They are just bulls**t restrictions, no idea why they would do this.

Got a solution for the camera app? I don't care about not being able to listen to music until I have found a place to charge my sgs, but not being able to take a picture even though there's enough juice left is just unacceptable!
This is a very good question. I hope someone find a solution for that.
hmm.. I never noticed that restriction before, Then again I del'ed all samsung apps and never use them. Just use 3rd party apps. Get camera 360 or one of the other ones on market and use that. For video recording you are stuffed. Thats the beauty of Android, Replace what you want
you could use setCPU if you're rooted but be warned, it causes a LOT of problems with stability. i'm sure they'll fix it eventually though. but if you're desperate for more power to the end then setCPU is the only way to go.
Hey guys - I'm looking for something specific on a VZW Moto Droid that I use for work. The boss gave me the OK to root, but I'm holding off on that until I can clarify a few things.
My personal phone is a Nexus One running CM 702, and when I plug it in to DDMS, I can see the FULL list of processes that it's running. When I plug the Moto Droid in, I only see 3-4 processes running, even though there's a ton of background apps on the phone. DDMS works fine with the Droid (I use it at work to capture screen shots of mobile websites), but I want the full process read out. I assume the experts know what I'm talking about. Is this a root thing? I suppose I could just slap CM7 on it (which actually, would be awesome) but I'd like to keep it as close to stock as possible unless I MUST root/flash to get the process list.
Thoughts?
I need to know how to install zips from different locations..
Bootmanager lite(Play store)
The app requires you to boot from a different folder i.e; the bootmanager folder..
And i found that fufu's minimod 0.22's apply zip from custom path did not work..
Anyone know a recovery with this option working?
Do you have a Milestone or a Droid?
In case of Milestone it is 110% impossible because of its locked bootloader. (The fact that we can use custom roms and now custom kernel is a miracle).
I read the description of the app you linked and look what I've found:
Motorola phone's with a locked bootloader will also not currently work.
But if you check their site.. phones with 2ndInit are supported..
They just need to apply the zip from the folder..
eg: Droid 2
Btw.. i have a motorola milestone
I still doubt it will work on the Stone.
Idk for sure, maybe I give it a try.
Update: I've tried it. After installing it my phone freezes everytime. So it is not really working on our phone.

Thats odd..
It works fine for me!
I even setup the phone rom and the second rom(CM10)
I use cm7 btw..
*Unrelated*
How do you bear with cm10?
It takes 2-4 sec to open the lock screen as well!
I just cant stand that kind of sluggishness in everyday utilities!
Even the dialer takes a minimum of 5-10 sec to open up!
Thats too much time to wait to make an urgent phone call
Plus the choppiness of the camera..
How do you put up with it?

Interesting, maybe I try it again someday.
Good to know it works.
I'm doing fine with CM10. I think it's just a matter of trying settings out and learning from the experience.
For me, swap with low swappines value gives pretty decent overall performance. The other thing is a lot of people install a huge amount of software on their phone, a lot them they doesn't even use, and every one of they slowly kills the performance by taking ram, cpu power, etc.
Greetings all,
Long time lurker here. Having some issues with my 16gb nook hd + that I figured I would discuss with the experts.
Here or some of the troubles I've encountered
- Battery Randomly dropping to one percent
- After entering correct pin, screen unlocks but then automatically locks again
- Music automatically plays very briefly after plugging in heaphones (very brief i.e. 1-2 seconds)
- Once with the carbon rom everything was going fine then randomly went to infinite boot loop.
Obviously you would think some of these would be attributed to the fact that I am using custom rooms, but these issues persist with every custom rom available, and battery problem persists with stock rom.
What would you folks recommend? are there and easy fixes you guy may have that I didn't happen to see in the forums? I'd really love to not have to RMA my nook, especially around the holidays (the only chance I get to just enjoy media dedicatedly. Is the RMA process been a pai nin the A for you guys here? Im really just looking for any advice you guys have to offer.
Thank you in advance for everything, and thank you for all the tips and help I have already enjoyed thanks to this wonderful site.
Another error I have- sometimes If I leave a music player app on in the background (not playing music) and the device goes to sleep, when I try to unlock my phone it unlocke then quickly (for less than a second) shows the music play than goes right back to sleep. this happens no matter how many times I unlock and forces me to reboot my phone. this has happened with multiple firmware, dbpower amp and the walkman app.
Any advice would really be helpful guys. want to know if I should return this. I love the screen and form factor, love the price, and the community has been grat so far but if this is what I have to look forward to with all the hardware maybe i should look elsewhere?

Most people who have this unlocking problem have cases that have magnets in them to put it to sleep when the case closes. The solution is to open the cover twice before you use the unlock.

Hello everyone,
I'll make this short. Is it worth upgrading from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1? If so, should I do a Clean Install or Update OTA? I've been pondering the last few days, wondering if my T-Mobile S6 should update or not. I've already tripped KNOX, so I'm kinda reckless, but I don't want a 600$ brick.
(And if I do update, are there any rooting options?)
Thanks In advance,
- Matt :good:
Battery life for me went from plugging it in once every day and a half to having to plug it in daily and sometimes twice daily.
Streaming content pauses and stops constantly due to them using new schemes for lowering power consumption. These schemes don't work and now I cannot stream radio, music, videos or anything else unless I remove all battery helper schemes in the settings for Android. Totally blows!
The screen asking you if you want to set an app to default or use it just once is now gone. In its place it just automatically assigns any app used once as the default app. Totally blows and is a Samsung mod to Android that basically is crap. Which idiot thought it was a good idea to do this? Which committee also decided to include it in the update?
Other than that you will also have lots of annoying crap. Samsung bloatware apps are also installed and they constantly want to help you do something. But you don't want their crap.
Upgrade at your own peril.

Damn dude, 6.0.1 sounds like it's a nightmare for you. Did you OTA Update or flash it via Odin? If you updated OTA, then I'm swerving away from OTA.

Alright, that might be the source of your problems. Try downloading the update file to your PC, then install it via Odin. Make sure you do a clean install. From what I've heard, people who do that have very little problems. There's a guide around here, but I can't seem to find it...
The issues I am having are OS and Samsung mods related.
