Hi,
I am using JVB 2.3.3 android version. However, when I try to install CWM or flash anything else I get this:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I found some information how it is possible to repair this problem on other phones, however none of them was for galaxy s. I am not experienced android user. And I am a little bit scared to use methods that were made for other phones. So maybe someone had similar problem to mines and know how to solve it?
That's because you have 3e recovery instead of 2e, which requires the package to be signed by Samsung. Go the development section and download CF root kernel. There's no other way around it. You have to get a custom kernel.

I am trying to install lagfix on froyo and force it. When I go into flash mode and apply the aip file i get the error message
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
Can anyone suggest any ideas
This is when trying to root the phone
BTW it worked fine on JM1
Any one help me???? Please
Samsung uses a different signature verification for froyo, so things that are intended for android 2.1 no longer work, i suggest the oneclick lag fix, it is available in the android market for free
Thats where I got if from, the market, and having this issue
you have to manually root the phone, and the process is different for 2.2
If you're running JPK, the root method is here
Thread moved to Q&A section
Will the one click root for Froyo work with the just released version of Froyo (IE Feb 24)?
The one click rooting tool I mean can be found here.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/one-click-root-for-froyo-running-captivates-emerges/
The old one for Eclair doesn't work anymore and gives an e certificate error.

it should work fine. just follow the instructions. i didnt see any real changes to the rooting method that was used in JI6....
just go with a custom rom, they will be faster than stock and without the ATT bloat anyway...and its rooted for you
I too am unable to root the O/S after updating to Official FroYo...
Following all procedures available to root leads to the following error -
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Looking for a way around this... Other than having to flash back to Eclair... I kind of want to give the Official Froyo a run.
Any ideas?

I've tried installing clock work mod recovery onto the phone but the It doesn't seem to be working I seem to still be getting the samsung stock recovery.
When I try to boot into recovery from the clockworkmod app I get the following message.

E:signature verification failed.
I've been told in the past that the problem is kernal related problem.
However I'm not sure what kernal would be suitable.
Could someone please give me some help/suggestions?

I think you are trying to install a temp recovery. Go to Philz kernel thread original development section and download a 4.0.4 kernel and try..

Im getting a similar error while installing philz_touch_6.07_.9-n7000.zip on my GT-N7000. The only difference is that it is not defining my device as anything. I mean instead of it saying that this device is GT-N7000B or something else it just show inverted commas and nothing else
To be precise this :
This package is for 'galaxynote.n7000.N7000.GT-N7000' devices: this is a ''.
E: Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip

WHat do i do? I'm flashing a custom rom for the first time cause im bored with touchwiz now. I followed steps mentioned on the omnirom website but couldn't install twrp as recommended by them. After much reading i found that philz works for GT-N7000. Also, as per omni recommendation i have also rooted my phone using Framaroot. Im not getting this procedure of installing a custom rom at all. Im completely new to this and would really appreciate if someone can help me install the latest 4.4.2 omnirom on my galaxy note n7000. Have i done something wrong?

I got the same error. My device type is not mentioned.
It just say ## "This package is for "galaxynote,n7000,N7000,GT-N7000" devices; this is a "". ##
Now I am still on Stock ROM, wanting to change to CM11
(Found this treath by googling, but no answer yet.)
Hi
I'm trying to update from 2.3.6 (Gingerbread.nejw3) to C-RoM-KK-v6.3.
I try to apply the update and I get "failed to verify whole-file signature" from googling this seems to be something to do with the kernel version.
2.6.35.7-i9000nejw3-cl1092934 [email protected]#2
Anyone have any step by step instructions on how I can get upto the right level so I can apply this update, there are so many threads and fragmented bits of information I'm struggling to find out exactly what to download from where and what order to do it in as I'd like to avoid bricking it.
Thanks

If you want to upgrade to 4.4 install XXJVU (2.3.6) first and then install CM9, CM10 and finally C-RoM.
