So I was hoping we could talk about high quality cases that look good and may cost more than the usual cases found on ebay etc. Even though I understand cheap is good at times I do prefer my cases to be of a high standard to hold my precious Nexus 7.
Any high quality cases on the horizon?
I've been looking at a sleeve. I can't post a link, but it's leather and comes with a 100 year warranty. It's by Saddleback Leather and is the medium gadget sleeve.

I'm in the same boat as you. The good brand ones usually take a little while to come out though.

Saddleback is GOOD stuff. Might have to see if they have one that will fit the N7, otherwise might be able to request one.
Someday I'd love to get a Saddleback Attache. They are beautiful and will last long enough to pass down to grandkids (I don't have kids yet)!
http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/kindle-fire-plush-sleeve/1992727
These are $19-25
Timbuk2 makes really great cases. They are currently on sale for the kindle fire. I have double checked the dimensions and it will def fit the Nexus 7. The great thing about the Timbuk2 cases are the functional design. They have a pillow style memory foam padding and ballistic Nylon outside, and a plush, velour faux fur lining for the inside. The faux fur really goes a long way to keeping the screen and body scratch free.
I have 2 on order. They have a couple of different color combos to choose from. I am def into the sleeve style cases. I don't understand why anyone would want to put their tablet or e-reader in a jacket. They are designed to be held, especially the Nexus 7. The rubber back just begs to be gripped.
I'm hoping for a nice case from Incipio. Love the case from them that I have on my Galaxy Nexus.
I went with the roocase super bubble and XOSkin screen protector. I will eventually get a TPU case but don't really like any that are out now.
Those handcrafted leather ones look amazing though! Very nice brand name for other leather goods, but I didn't know they made this line of stuff.

I've asked Oberon Design if they're planning to make one for the Nexus 7. http://oberondesign.com/e-reader-covers-4/siena-ereader-covers.html I've had two of their covers and they're amazing. Their tablet cover isn't intricate like their Ebook reader covers but the quality is definitely there.

Looking at the dimensions, the Nexus 7 should fit nicely. The quality is really drawing me in. But they're kind of expensive.

Actually, I got a reply this morning - a good one:
"We are looking into making a cover specifically for the Nexus. We have one ordered and once we receive it we will be able to develop our design. I don’t know at this point if the siena style will be an option or not. We will have to see. Stay tuned for more information on our website and facebook page.
Thanks so much for your interest."
I told her that I don't care which one it is, to keep me posted. I love their cases. :good::good:
DODOcase makes great handmade case for the iPad and Kindle. I contacted them asking about the Nexus 7 and they said,
Thanks for your interest! We don't currently have an ETA for release yet, but we are looking into a case for the Google Nexus.
You can keep your eyes peeled for new DODOcase products in the near future, and you can go to the below link to join our mailing list and to follow us on facebook and twitter, which will keep you updated on our latest products and editions.

Does anyone know if the official N7 case works as a horizontal kickstand?
I bought the Timbuk2 Plush Sleeve, which is designed for the Kindle Fire, but the Nexus 7 is within the maximum dimensions. I've always been a big fan of their stuff and this sleeve is no exception... super nice!
FYI... I can confirm the Plush sleeve for the Fire fits the N7 perfectly.
I also asked a G+ question to Vajacases.com. Genuine Argentinian leather products. I began using them on my Sony Clie back in the days of pdas
Awesome product, almost to the par of Oberon cases. I have one on my wife's old Nook but looks great.
There's also http://www.reauthored.com/, which was reviewed on rootzwiki a week ago. Pretty cool stuff but unsure if they will make one for a N7. I haven't asked them yet.
Edit: Looks like they do lol

I'm not a big fan of the cases that cover the screen. Others I've seen are bulky. This seems like the perfect fit for me. It's barely noticeable and adds an extra line of defense, except for the screen. I just don't like having my screen covered by anything, not even screen protectors.
Thanks for this.
Good unboxing vid! I have a kickstand case from nillkin for my Sensation and is a quality product. I see that the micro USB has good clearing so that you can use different USB Cords if needed.
looks googd.
debating this or a folio type case.

I noticed it really is a lot like the S line case many sell. My question is this case totally smooth? The matte color area on the S line is textured which is nice but the seam runs along the edges making this slightly uncomfortable to hold for a long period of time. I can't go naked with this tablet but it's much more fatiguing with the case on. I think if the case were totally smooth it would be more comfortable. The 7 inch form factor for me is really pushing the limit for one handed use, the slight increase in bulk even from the tpu case pushes it that much further for me. I'm 6'3 but I have average length fingers. If I had big bear mitts maybe this wouldn't matter. Just curious.

I've been looking for a decent gel case for ages. The generic S and X cases looked really cheap and nasty.
I hope its a really tight fit. Never heard of Nillkin but from your vid and the pictures it looks real quality.

The image a lot of sellers were using for the S and X cases were badly done concept art not the actual case, the reality is very different they are actually very nice well made cases.
I got a clear "iTALKonline S-Line" TPU case and its excellent quality it actually looked tighter to fit than this one, I'm also in the UK got mine from Amazon £3.49 free delivery came the next day.

I bought mine from tablet.world on Ebay for $12.70 shipped. It looks like they do ship workwide too.
Just do an eBay search for Nillkin Nexus 7.
Do these Nillkin cases fit better than the S line cases? I have an S line and it just isn't snug enough. The sides tend to flex away from the device way too easily.
Thank you for effort in making this video. I only would like to suggest next time when you do videos, please turn your camera in panoramic view. In youtube, the black space on the sides occupied more room than your actual video, which is more important. Just a tip!
Anyhow, thanks again!

I am looking for the best REAL leather case that anyone knows of that will be out. Or even some high quality leather case maker that you have used on another phone that you do not know if it will come out. I am tired of searching and I like the zenus but before I commit to 60+ on a case (I rarely buy cases so this is going to be the one I commit to) I would like to see all the best options and opinions

Mannnn that is prettty
man, if I could just get that next model:

Wish I could find one that for the card slots had a clear cover for one so I can stick my license in it, and have it be visible.
I have this one and very happy with it : w ww.pdair.com/index.php/leather-case-for-samsung-galaxy-note-ii-n7100-flip-type-black-1.html (sorry link restriction for new member prevent to post a working link)

I was also interested in the Zenus case but didn't like the "accents" on the front. There is also Puhama case (Expensive Handmade) ww w.etsy.com/listing/111843451/hc10-hand-stitched-handmade-personalized?ref=sr_gallery_19&ga_search_query=note+2+leather&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all

Then you have the ones from China.. Ebay obviously has a lot. This is one of the few that stood out to me ww w.ebay.com/itm/Brown-Deluxe-Leather-Card-Stand-Flip-Wallet-Case-for-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-2-N7100-/130792440457?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item1e73d64289
Be warned with that last one, it has a magnet clasp, I was going to tear out the magnet and install a snap if I had purchased the case. I did not want to wait for it to arrive from China though.
Once the Spigen case gets here I will do a review and upload a couple photos. (New member restrictions permitting  )

No problem, just another forewarning that it has a magnetic clasp system. It might affect the screen, creating a dead spot while in the case. Not too sure if it can cause permanent issues just know there was a thread going around warning about the issues with magnet cases. I'm also assuming for that price that its faux leather, just another aspect of the case to bear in mind. Other than that it does look pretty nice :good:

Yeah, my hope is the magnet is too weak to cause issues.
This will be my theme park case so I can consolidate my wallet and phone into one.

I have only had the gumdrop case a few hours but I do prefer holding the n7 in both portrait and landscape with this case. I have big hands so the bulk the case adds makes it more comfortable to hold. The case ads quite a bit of weight to the n7 however so I can see some people disliking that but it doesn't bother me. The buttons are angled a little towards the back due to the frame but are large and easy to find. The power button requires more pressure than the volume buttons however. As far as the color, the military color option looks awesome in person.
Build quality seems really well done and it feels bomb proof, probably over kill for my use. The screen protector doesn't take away from the clarity at all and fits nicely. You don't get that button press feel either when using the screen. The plastic does give off some weird smell which I assume will go away over time.
As for the SBL pouch, it fits perfectly but its very snug and doesn't just slide in and out, yet. It needs to be broken in a bit more but it'll eventually be a great fit. You can't go wrong with any SBL product so if you're in the market for a pouch for your n7, I highly recommend saddleback leather.
Hopefully that helps a bit.

Hahaha outstanding sir!
Here is my review http://smartphoneblogging.com/2012/...-its-not-half-as-bad-as-many-reviews-suggest/
Even with all of its shortcomings I prefer this to all those huge and ugly leather cases. Its slim, light and has great grip...I don't care much about the missing magnet, but I do miss the stand function though...
I agree with the review, but they could have done better in designing it. I found a lot of the cases don't look to nice, so I just keep mine in a neoprene case for when I take it out, the tablet is naked.
I have also been thinking to live without a case but at the end I need something which completely wraps around my nexus 7 without adding bulk. I had a pouch too but it was too cumbersome to take it out of it all the time...at the moment there is no better solution for me than the nexus travel case...
Mine, like every phone I've owned lately, lives in a TPU skin, and I just pop it in the lovely Portal-themed felt sleeve my girlfriend made me when I'm out of the house. I don't really trust myself using a naked device at all. The times my devices come out of their TPU skins are almost certainly the time I will drop them... lol
Lack of magnet sleep and magnetic close could have made the case a lot better, but I think. I don't have it yet so I might try to mod it a little with some relatively weak magnets and some tape if I can help not taking the away from its sleekness.

I agree 100%. Just bought original case in light gray and it is fantastic. Such a nice look, looks good quality and feels great in hand. I don't mind the stand, I don't mind that the cover can flip open because there's no security button or something (I have it in my pocket anyway so there's not much room to flap open) what I mind is the magnet because the power and volume buttons are a bit awkwared to press since they're covered with silicone. I mean, it's easy to press, no problems there, it just works - but there is no "click" feeling to it. Even though it is pretty expensive here in the Czech rep (500 Crowns, that;s like 20 Euros) I don't have regrets - the build quality is great and it looks and feels fantastic.
cheers,
D.

Thanks, that's exactly my opinion. I wonder why Asus didn't support at least the magnet...
what i'd really want is a bumper case, with a cover for the screen. The back really doesn't need protection from scratches and stuff like the iPad. Still caseless and waiting

True. Basically I'd love to have a smart cover like Apple provides. It only covers the screen. I also think that the Nexus 7 doesn't need an additional back cover.
A small bumper with a screen cover is really a nice idea.
What I like about the original Asus cover is that it changes the color of your Nexus - I have light gray color and it is almost white, so the Nexus looks completely different Yes, no need for back cover, but kinda nice to see it it light gray or any other color they offer
I hear this was a flop to. I was considering accessories for m N7.
But I dont want to loose the back rubber with I love. and the Damn N7 will slip right in my back pocket if I need to go make a tech call.
I'm hereby going caseless.

I don't want to manually mod the case, that's not my job. Your solution is nice, but its ridiculous that Google or Asus let it come to this. They should give us a premium case.
Picked one up tonight at Walmart. Was looking for a generic case and I was happily suprised to see one. $29.88. By the time Google gets tax and shipping it was worth the extra.
I really like it so far.
