Hi all,
Just wanted some feedback from anyone with the Bell Mobility I9000M that has flashed JVH. How are you liking the update?
As well:
Is 850Mhz supported? If not can we flash another modem over to enable 850? How has the reception been compared to JL2?
How is the battery life compared to 2.2 Roms? I am currently on a Doc 2.2 JS8 Rom and get about 2 days with moderate use.
Thanks!
JVB was really good, needed to preform the 850 fix or flash a new modem (I always flash ugkc1) bettery was pretty good
JVH I just flashed and modem needs same as JVB fix or flash of an 850 default... can't say for battery yet, most are saying it takes some calibration on JVH... GPS fix is best I have ever had.
I was Doc 9.5 moved to Doc 10 rc6, moved to simply honey now on juwe... liked doc 10 the least.
works fine here. JVH with KC1 modem

hey guys , i have flashed several rom and i really like the look and feel of the darky's rom however i have really bad reception issue. sometimes at home where i usually have full bar i have no signals at all , or last night i was traveling to Oklahoma city with my friend who is running captivate on stock rom and he had full bar while i had no service at all ! any idea what i'm doing wrong ?
Usually better to ask in the darky thread , but anyways.
Did you flash back to stock and then upgrade to darkys or did you upgrade on top of a previous rom? If the latter, flash back to stock and reinstall.
If the former, try a different modem. I am not using the modem or kernel that came with darkys rom. I am using the kernel with speedmod and ugjl2 modem and so far I have great reception. Of course that isn't saying much as I always have great reception using my cell device (can't think of its name atm.)

You are running the I9000 version and not the captivate port. This alone wont cause problems if you have the reoriented kernel but the jpy modem you have will. I believe it does not have the 850 band. Flash a different modem from the modem thread in the development section and you should be good to go.
If im mistaken please forgive as its 7:30am and I still haven't slept yet.

thanks for your reply ! well yea i did one click odin to stock 2.1 and then flash this using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868262
and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808286 flashing xcaliburinhand's latest reoriented kernel (odin version) with voodoo (I9000_reoriented_v2.3.0) so i'm not sure what is the issue here ... can you all guide me what modem should i use ? i was actually thinking about the same thing because i use to have a phone that didn't have 850 bad and i had this kind of issue ! so any help of how and where to get a modem to flash will be greatly appreciated !
I personally use JK4. A lot of people find that JL3 works better for them. Either way at the moment these are the top two modems available. Both can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9134296&postcount=2 and are flashable via CWM.
Also next time you are going to flash a version of Darky's just use this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890429 or any one that ytt3r starts because he ports them over to the captivate and you don't have to worry about messing with kernels or anything not working properly.
thanks i'll try it next week , since i'm running Axura 2.2 and so far i like it
Hi I was wondering if any bell or more appropriately Sasktel users are using any gingerbread roms and how the csc and modem is working out.
Sent from my Iphone killing I9000
I'm on Bell, used to run CyanogenMod7, now I'm testing out the latest MIUI gingerbread builds. The modem seems to work fine enough (either JL2 or KC1). I haven't had any issues. Battery efficiency could be better, but I'm not convinced that's the modem's fault.
So other than battery probs are you happy. Also all you did is flash the rom and then a new modem

Yeah, I'm on Rogers with CM7 and KC1 Modem, running smooth with great speeds on my 3g+ I just noticed your other post and yes I flashed the ROM and then the Canadian modem
Title says it all. Which one is better? JVK or JVB?

Both have Bugs, Dont use till Samsung release a stable GingerBread
There's only one way to find out.....
FIGHT!!!

Almost the same: same bugs, same lack of expected features, same included features. The only difference? language and network support
4 weeks on jvk. A record has been set for me. Ha. No flashing for a month now. Very happy with jvk.

Have not seen a big difference eather. Had both on the phone, pure from samfirmware, with Fugu-Kernel, with DOC Rom from beta kitchen v1, v2 actual v2.1 ......
Just try them
i flashed jvb last night then rooted.
i have just one issue for now it is related with gps icon when i closed the gps the status bar icon still there. couple minutes later i activate then deactivate it was gone. everything seems same with jvk to me like battery drain, fast, etc.
I was running JVK for a month without any issues at all, all worked fine.
But as something new came out I flash to JVB using the 'Hamsterbread' ROM, only been on it less that 24hrs but so far no problems at all.
I think as mentioned before they are pretty much the same so personally I would say it doesnt really matter. If your on JVK there isn't much point flashing to JVB.
I tried jvk, jva and jvb and is all the same except swype on jvk
had jvk then "upgraded" to jvb, running perfectly so far )
I use JVK. Not out of choice but it's what my phone had installed when it was returned to me from repair (went in with Darky's 9.5). So if Samsung themselves are putting JVK on then that's where I'd rather be
The copy/paste seemed easier to use for me on jvb than on jvk.

After trying jvb, I wouldnt downgrade to jvk.
JVK since 26th march. rooted, modded and running like a Ferrari. Downloaded JVB and all mod files but not bothered flashing as JVK is so good.
This is the longest I've gone without a custom ROM...no need.
From what I read, JVB and JVA are just minor regional variants...they are all 2.3.3 after all.
These roms are just to similar to contain any significant performance or reliability differences in my view.
conclusion: If you've flashed JVK, JVB or JVA and are happy don't flash. If you have any issues try one of the others.
For me its JVK and well happy

Its not a downgrade
JVB is a Nordic variant, JVK is the UK variant, JVA is European, Luxemburg I think, hence the insignificant differences between them
Changed from JVK to JVB, seen no difference.
Hello all,
I recently rooted my Bell Galaxy s and flashed speedmod-k13e-500hz so now my phone is pretty fast and smooth but would like to improve my constant low signal issue and choppy phone calls ( also my batt life has decreased since rooting and applying speedmod with lagfix enabled and have cleared batt stats in cwm) Im on stock UGKC1 and am wondering if i can fix my issues. I would also like to flash 2.3.3 but wonder which rom/modem combo would be best for me and also a litlle how to since i believe i need gingerbread bootloader but am a little confused.
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to help or point me in the right direction.
GG
I find KC1 modem works really well... If you are having issues with that modem try JK4 or JL2 or the telus modem (TLJ or something) first 2 are both older versions of Bell Modems... as for 2.3.3, I have used simply honey, Juwe, GingerReal and current flashing Darky.
So far in order I like:
Juwe - JVH
Simply Honey - JVH
GingerReal - JVO
Darky - JVH (unkown, but loved the froyo version)
I always flash KC1 modem with gingerbread
I think the JVo modem is the best so far, but you can test which is the best for your region and phone.
Exactly, the JVO modem in the Toronto area is garbage, but probably really good in other places. Your 'default' modem is probably always a safe bet
Thanks for the replies. I will compare JVO to KC1 and see which one performs better. I just bought an Incredible S and seems to be getting better reception than the SGS in general.
I have a Bell (Unlocked running on Telus) I9000M SGS and I have tried many different ROMs to try to get the GPS to work, but there is always something about the ROM that makes me change.
I have tried ICS as well, but that didn't work at all. I have tried ROMs from Europe (JVR and JVS) and while the GPS did work, the phone didn't have the reception it should have had. I am now back on stock GB 2.3.3 - UGKG3.
Has anyone ever solved the GPS problem with the Bell ROMs? Has anyone used any other ROM that worked as well as the stock ROM, but with working GPS? For those with an I9000M, what is the best ROM/kernel you have used.
Another thing, I have had the M/B replaced due to the dreaded internal memory problem and with the non-existent GPS and the lack of Android updates to Canada, will you get another Samsung phone? I would love the Note, but can I trust Samsung?
Thanks for the info,
Ian
I have a i9000m through lleb and I have been using this modem i9000 ugjl2 and my gps is perfect.
And if your using google map I also find if you change yout scripts from N-America to europe you'll also get a faster gps find.

Etc/gps.conf then edit n.america.or whatever it says there and replace with europe.pool
