Ok guys, what is this interactive governer and where do i access it? Is this something that was supposed to have been in the download or something I download in the market? I downloaded the latest emmc version and placed it on my sd card, flashed in CWR, then rebooted. I didnt clear any caches before doing this. Also this thing is super fast. Ran 3 quadrant scores, 1st- 1356, 2nd- 1568, 3rd- 1522, with an average of 1482. Wow
Thanks in advance
The interactive governor is under the Available Governors spot in the CPU Settings menu; you find it just above the Min/Max cpu speed selections.
Settings > CyanogenMod > Performance > CPU Settings > Available Governors.
ondemand works great for me
I've been using the interactive governor since it first started working on the Original Droid and I use it on my NC as well.
I find it makes things move just a bit quicker while having similar battery life.
First thing I do after a new rom is flash the oc kernel. Next thing is set the governor and oc.
If updates don't work with those things, I'd have to do a bug report and revert back to when they did.
Thanks to those who offered assistance. I got it figured out, and everything is working great.
[Q] CM7.0.3 Stable, Dalingrin Kernel emmc-042411EXT4 || Overclocking & Tablet Tweaks
What I have:
CM7.0.3 Stable, Dalingrin Kernel emmc-042411EXT4
I need to:
- Be able to select 1100Mhz. I only see 1200Mhz and 1300Mhz, besides the other lower speeds. Am I using the right kernel for my CM built?
- I cannot use the performance options of Tablet Tweaks, as it says that my kernel is not supported. I cannot use the headphones fix or the 32bit to 16bit color depth either. Unsupported kernel. Why is that? Tried flashing the kernel twice with CWM 3.2.0.1 but still the same.
- Currently using SetCPU to min:300Mhz and max:1200Mhz, setting is "ondemand". The Nook gets warm on the back, so I am a little concerned. "ondemand" means that it will scale the CPU speed to different Mhz throughout the range? Why do I have a feeling that it pegs the CPU at the max setting?
- When the device goes to sleep with Wifi on, after I wake it up, let's say the next morning, the battery is down about 7%. Is the Wifi that kills the battery or the CPU? I need to try to turn Wifi off and see if it makes a difference.
Please don't suggest to change to nightlies or any other RC version. I prefer stable and I am almost sure that the older Dalingrin's kernel that I am using should work with what I have, along with Tablet Tweaks.
Thank you in advance for your time and effort. Love the forum. Cheers!
George
Sounds to me like you aren't trying to use "Tablet Tweaks" but "Nook Color Tweaks" and if that is the case then your build is too old and not supported.
From the Nook Color Tweaks thread:
* 2.6.29 releases are discontinued and no longer supported. They will remain hosted for those that might need them.

Click to collapse
* 2.6.32 CM7 builds currently do not work with the stable CM7 builds until CM7.1. You need to use CM nightlies until 7.1 is released.

Note: This app requires kernel support. For audio settings you will need a newer 2.6.32 kernel found in CM7 Nightly 88+ or my(Dalingrin) overclock kernel for B&N Froyo 1.2 and CM7.
For CPU settings you will need a 2.6.32 overclocked kernel from 06/09/11 or later.

You are correct! I mistyped the app name. I meant to write Nook Color Tweaks. I am aware of the Dalingrin's thread. But it does mention that although the stable releases are not supported, they are hosted. Is he referring to the older kernels?
In other words, I won't be able to use Nook Color Tweaks with my CM7.0.3 stable/Dalingrin Kernel emmc-042411EXT4, even if it is not the latest one from June?
The 4/24/11 is a .29 kernel which is no longer supported, to utilize the Nook Color tweaks app you need a .32 kernel which only works with nightly 88+ and the CM7.1RCs.
Basically if you want to use Nook Color tweaks you'll need to update your build....
Ok, that makes sense. This is what I thought, I just wanted to verify it. Thanks for that. Any ideas on the battery draining issue when in standby? Do you think it might be the wifi?

.29 Kernels don't support deep sleep if I recall. You have to update to .32
I recommend running 7.1 RC. I've been running it for a while now. I was running 7.0.2 for a while, but finally upgraded and glad I did.

+1 to this. I know you said in advance not to recommend the nightlies, but I would really suggest giving the latest one a try, if not at least the RC. There have been numerous fixes and updates, and for me at least, it has been super smooth with no issues. Battery life among other things is much improved. With slight to moderate usage I now can get a week or so easily off of a single charge. You should always be able to revert back to the RC or the last stable version if you want to for some reason.
Everyone, thank you so much for your replies. I took your advise and updated to 7.1 RC (from 7.0.3 stable) and it is a much better experience now. The tablet seems to be a bit faster, CPU scaling works better and more effective and the battery also appears to last longer. I have also installed the laste 6/30 Dalingrin kernel and now I can modify the CPU/sounds settings from the Nook Color Tweaks app. The only thing I cannot change is the color from 32bit to 16bit to improve FPS. I guess I need a more recent nightly for this. Not critical, so I will wait.
BTW, is there an app out there that will change the depth color from 32bit to 16bit?
Thanks a lot again!

If I am not mistaken 7.1 RC already comes with a newer OC kernel than 6/30, with that kernel you should be able to change the bit depth.
^^^ Ooppss, did I mess it up since I have installed Dalingrin's 06/30 kernel? I can use all the features in Nook Color Tweaks except from the depth color. Should I install the 7.1RC kernel, and if yes, do we know which version? (...doing some research as well on this...)
If you just reflash 7.1 RC that should do the trick, at the minimum I know the OC kernel included in the RC is newer than 6/30.
So, I reinstalled 7.1RC and apparently the kernel that it comes with is older than Dalingrin's 06/30. The 7.1RC kernel will only get the CPU up to 925Mzh and its full version is 2.6.32.9 ([email protected] #87). Dalingrin's 06/30 kernel is 2.6.32.9 ([email protected] #103), and after I've reinstalled it, it enabled all the CPU OC capabilities up to 1300Mhz. So, I assume it is newer.
I wanted to start a thread but this one hits my issue. If I install any RC or nightly(tried many from 88 till 146) I g3t sod and wifi issues. But I can't get 7.0.3 encore to work with the kernel that allows nook color tweaks to work(I know its unsupported, and it bootloops)
So I have yet to find anything after encore that doesn't sod and have wifi issues.. what would the recommendation be?

^^ Not sure what to tell you... I was running 7.0.3 with the April Darlingin kernels (tried both 404 and 424) and the Nook Tweaks app didn't work with it. I then installed CM 7.1RC1 and it is a much better experience, from CPU throttling, interface, speed and stability. I have the latest 630 EXT4 kernel from Darlingrin and the Nook Tweaks app works great, except from the color depth control which it says it requires a newer version of CM7. The CPU OC works a LOT better in this 7.1RC1 release, I have no wifi issues, no battery draining since deep sleep is supported and I am happy overall. The only issue is with the new Android Market not showing all the apps, updates etc, but there is a workaround.

The funny thing is, I don't have that issue with not seeing the apps in market since I went back to encore. I'd rather have that issue and not the sod or wifi issues and have proper volume so I wouldn't need headphones though.

Hi everyone!
I have one question, what is the most stable config. of your device including OC of the CPU and GPU, overvolting and undervolting, governors and VM heap size?
I have CM9 ICS 4.0.3. with devils kernel, in NSTools enabled deep sleep, OC-ed to 1350MHz CPU and 10% LiveOC GPU, Voltages are default, RAM is set to Hard gaming with 64Mb of VM in RAM Manager PRO. Governors are deadline and ondemand (I´ve had cfq and smartassv2 before).
What is most interesting to me is voltages..as I´ve read somewhere that that is the most important part in stability of system running OC-ed settings. How can you accomplish that? Tell me your examples.
Hi there, I use last nightly cm9, sgs is OC till 1,3 and i think it's perfect. Everything is open quick, all games are work stable and fast without freezes. I don't see difference between 1,3 and 1,5 OC. Regards !
Hi, thanks for your reply!
I would disagree, there is a huge difference between 1.3 and 1.5 as it is between 1.3 and 1GHz in the way of speed and handling heavy staff. What is different is that your device heat rises much faster on higher clocks than of those default.
My main concerns about this is because I want to be able to play all the new games (to be specific: Nova 3 , I can play multiplayer but single player allways crashes after few seconds)..and so that is why I wanted to share my settings with all of you, and you also share your settings.
The key to higher clocks speed is voltages, but I have no knowledge about it.
When I normal use phone I don't see any difference between 1,3 and 1,5 maybe it's my sgs charm It is as quickly as possible. When I oc to 1,5 it often freez
Well, that depends on what you mean by "normal use" ..but, no doubt that your phone or any other is much smother when OC-ed.
Hello all, today I will be showing you how to speed up your Nook Color a bit... these methods should work for CM9/CM10/CM10.1/Paranoid Android/etc., but I personally found these out while running PA ICS. The apps you may need to make your phone faster are Ram Manager (Free OR Pro) and No Frills CPU Control (In the case that your ROM doesn't have overclocking in settings). Basically, using these "tweaks" (minus overclock, as whenever I flash a ROM the first thing I do is overclock it), I went from a painfully slow (as in, I was ready to go back to Gingerbread) device to a somewhat faster device. I've seen huge differences in launching games and apps especially, and opening to app drawer seems to be smoother also.
CPU Overclock
Either using No Frills CPU Control or the built-in overclock, set your max CPU speed to the highest on the list (not exceeding 1200, but it shouldn't show anything above that anyhow). Change your governor to either Ondemand or Performance (I personally use Ondemand and have no problems with it). Most of you are probably already overclocked though, so please don't look at me like I'm stupid.
Swap Space
Open up RAM Manager and there should be an option to change your swap space at the bottom. I changed mine to about 48 and am content with that, although I must add it may make your SD card's life shorter. This will increase your RAM, thus allowing you to have more apps open at once.
Force GPU rendering
Open Developer Options in your settings app and check "Force GPU Rendering"... I'm guessing this is one of the biggest factors to my tablet becoming smoother, as from research it helps lower end devices achieve a better framerate, although it may decrease your battery life. Also, I cannot guarantee every app will run great with this. I tested a game (Dynamite Jack) with this setting enabled and it wasn't too shabby at all! But yes, I can definitely see a difference in the overall speed of my Nook Color.
Please tell me how these work for you
I tried these settings, but unfortunately didn't perceive any performance improvement.
Good call on RAM manager. Hadn't seen that before, its going on my NC and RAZR now
Can anyone tell me a good reason for that RAM Manager app to have the permissions it does? Location, Identity, and full network access?
Does NOT work. All this app " no frills CPU" does is provide a GUI front end for the settings already found for our nook color using CM 10+ in its "performace" settings. Also this app does not provide over clocking above our set 1100 MHz. You will need a custom over clocking kernel for the encore for this. Check over on the CM 10 kernel thread n the development section.
I am using the latest Arrrghhhs anykernel along with ROM toolbox pro to underclock my min clock speed to 96MHz and overclock my max clock speed to 1890MHz. Im using ondemand as my cpu governor and row as my i/o scheduler. I have the option to overvolt and undervolt using ROM toolbox as well. I did some searching but cannot find any info specific to the Atrix HD. I was just curious if anyone has tinkered with this much and if so what have you found to be the best clock speeds/governor/scheduler/voltage combination. I've never really heard anything about overvolting, what if any benefits can come from this? Also what is the most you have been able to undervolt with causing a bootloop or other issues? On my old S3 I had a app that would test if your settings were stable by running different processes to put a heavy load on the device. You could run it as long as you wanted but I had learned if it reported no errors after 10 mins it was usually pretty stable at those settings. I cannot remember the name of the program and searching turned up nothing, I was hoping someone knew of it or knew of one that does the same thing. Thanks in advance for any help!
