Has anyone installed the new Gingerbread Rom on an ATT TAB?
What was your experience? Is the bootloader playing nice or is it repeating the white line issue the Froyo Roms had?
Using it on att tab don't have white line and never had one on froyo
Upgrade from Roto-JMI. No white lines, but never had that problem. Used the stock Gingerbread. Works fine, but (1) Google Music beta won't work -- known issue with Gingerbread, (2) the calendar FCs -- I think a wipe will fix that and (3) Adobe Flash Player 10.2 came with the ROM, wouldn't work, but uninstalling and installing 10.3 from the Market fixes that.

I recently rooted my old G1 and installed Cyanogen 4.08 (or whatever that gen is) and along with the new 8 gig card have room to install apps. One pair of apps I had pre-rooting and flashing was NESOID and SNESOID which I had to get rid of due to room. Now I reloaded them with the old roms I had and tried to run them and lo and behold they don't run....but they did before!
The software loads and I select a ROM (still zipped as usual but I tried unzipping just in case) but when I hit a ROM it goes black for a second then returns to the load screen. Trying all the ROMS gets the same result.
In the task bar i see the icon of NESOID (or SNESOID...I tried both) and it says "NESOID is Running" and if I pull down that screen and hit that it goes back to home screen and stops. No force close or anything. Just nothing.
Any ideas? I tried cachecompress on and off and that's about it. Can't think of what else to do. Is it Cyanogen?
Thanks!

You should try running gingerbread or some of the newer froyo builds with new spl/radio hack to run those emualtors, you'll see about a 30-45% performance boost when playing them imo. I've tried both Sparksmod 1.6.2 and gingerbread cos and both roms ran emulators very well.

I was thinking about this but I was wondering why it worked with the factory build of 1.6 but not the suped up (for the time) Cyanogen build of 1.6? I was thinking of flashing one of the newer builds (I already have the new radio) but was always hesitant. Will gingerbread run on an old hoopty of a phone like the
G1?
Thanks!
You'd e surprised how well gingerbread is running on the OG g1

make sure you read thru the thread first though to avoid and semi bricks.
Hi guys, summarizing: I've flashed 2.3.3 (XXJVK) and can't run Dungeon Defenders: FW anymore. Can anyone help me with this?
Firstly I've:
Installed the XXVK version w/o bootloaders so I could easily revert if anything went wrong (W/o pit or repartition) (I believe I was on 803 .pit)
I was happy and enjoyed the tastiness of Gingerbread. But I was concerned about the graphics corruption (glitches, screens with coloured bars) at boot and startup (when loading the launcher app) AND my Music app was FC'ing in less than 2min of playback... I've figured out (through some discussion at the ROM thread) that I had to install the version w/ bootloaders to avoid these problems because my previous version was Froyo 2.2.1.
I've, then, done the following:
Installed XXJVK+Sbl (GT_I9000_XXJVK_XXJVK_OXAJVK_Sbl.exe), w/o pit or repartition
Was happy that there were no more graphics glitches or Music app FC
Rooted flashing F-Root-XW_OXX_JV1 kernel w/o pit or re-partition and flashing the original Kernel_XXJVK.exe w/o pit or re-partition
Got the TV-off screen lock animation (rooted cuz of this) replacing the framework-res.apk file with Daneshm90 modified one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12413848&postcount=481)
BUT I still can't play DD:FW!!! I can launch the application, it shows the splash, the initial loading whirl screen and the phone will lag to sh!t and the game won't get loaded.
Even thought the following works:
LauncherPro 3D dock runs fine
GLBenchmark 2.0.3 runs fine (lags at some transitions but won't FC or show glitches)
Speedx 3D runs fine
Reckless Racing runs fine
I've got the following leads:
Could this be a problem with Unreal engine?
Do I have to reflash with re-partition and 512.pit? (I'm not willing to loose my configs and app downloads/configuration AGAIN to just test it)
I've also seen ppl complaining about this ROM not being able to run graphics-heavy apps, is this true?
Thanks in advance for any help!
I haven't read your post but i assume that dungeon defender needs update. There were several issues with 3d graphics on gingerbread and all of them were solved by updating an app
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Tnx themate1987, but I've already updated DD:FW two times after flashing XXVK. Every time I hoped the problem was solved, still isn't.
I've reflashed XXJVK with Samsung bootloaders, re-partition, 512.pit, and wiping all data.
Result: DD:FW is still unplayable (not that it is slow, it just won't pass loading) BUT the startup FC of LauncherPro isn't happening anymore.
If i EVER get this game to run over 2.3.3, I'll share how...
OK guys, got this solved!
I was never able to play it on JVK.
Tried flashing JVB. The game was accessible but not even close to playable, as I was getting monstruous lags every few seconds.
When testing on JVH, I got impressed. The game feels snappier than on Froyo! So the solution is: flash JVH!
Hello.
So I've used Doc's ROMKitchen for both a custom 2.1 and 2.2.1 ROM and things ran generally smooth.. a pair of issues with the 2.2. one but errors that were my own to start with.
Now I tried to upgrade to 2.3.3 but unfortunately the experience hasn't been so smooth.
I flashed a stock ROM (First JVO then at a later phase, JV5), full factory reset, installed a Kernel (SpeedMod), installed the Doc ROM - And it's here that problems start. First it's the wizard that crashes... I was able to work around it, but I wonder if this is a sign of problems or it's nothing to worry about.
The biggest concern however is how no applications from those that I selected are installed, not even MTP control, along with the fact that I seem to not having any of the sounds installed or something.
I figure this may be related to either how I cooked the ROM or installed it, but would like to know if anyone else felt the same issue and knew how to fix it.
Thanks.
I seem to have an unusual SGS problem...
My music player plays mp3's via headphones only while using stock rom. I've tried stock, branded 2.3.6, newest MIUI and Darky 10.2 (a bit earlier: Cyanogenmod). In every single one the music player stops playing mp3's and system sounds via headphones just after flashing. Music plays normally on stock, kernels don't seem to make a difference.
Has anyone come across such problem? Googling doesn't seem to help...
Chance .....?
Well you should Start checking several things and after that the SOLUTION appears.
1-First upgrade your SGS to latest official android which is 2.3.6.
Find a firmware which you can root easily.
2-After flashing completed and before booting the operating system enter CWM.
3-Do not Factory Reset, simply Wipe Dalvik Cache & Battery Status.
4-Download custom ICS 4.0.3 RC 3 firmware for SGS from:
http://www.hlusoe.info:5000/hotfile/141757929/hlusoe.info_ICS_4.0.3_r1-RC3-I9000.zip
After Flashing finished, check and report back.
<<<Good LUCK>>>
I'm not so eager to install an ICS ROM in unstable state. Do you think this would solve problems with installing MIUI? Is this a bug fixed by ICS?
I'm reviving this thread after almost a year, but since my sgs started getting slower and slower, and the ICS roms started getting more and more stable I decided to flash a custorom once again...
So far I've tried flashing:
-CM 10.0
-Paranoid Android 2.54
-[jOP40D] OFICIAL ANDROID 4.2.1 <RC2>
-CM 7.1
None of those roms solves my problem - the loudspeaker doesn't work (most of the time). When I try to play music or sound an alarm I can hear silent white noise, as if the loudspeaker was powered on, but nothing more. Interestingly the loudspeaker works perfectly normal when I try to use it during a call.
The loudspeaker works perfectly normal on stock rom installed using this guide, both rooted and unrooted. It also works on this 2.3.6 rom, rooted and unrooted.
Before flashing I restored to 2.3.5 via odin (1.82 and 3.07), I followed guides as closely as possible. Usually I flashed roms using cwm. I tried changing as many sound related settings on each of those roms as possible - the whole testing process took me about 2 days.
Does anybody have an idea what to try next?
Hey,
So I have an LG Thrill, on ATT, and I recent updated from GB to ICS using the LG customer support/update tool.
I'm now running ICS, which is really nice, but something is weird; For some reason I couldn't download apps that were meant for ICS!
In fact, I took a step back and realised that I didn't even have the ICS version of the Google Play store, or the ICS style menus. It seems as though my OS is ICS, but the Gapps are all GB ones... I downloaded some apks meant for 4.0 and those worked, meaning I can install ICS apps on my phone, but the Play Store is the wrong version, and thus detects the wrong OS...
ANy idea what I can do? I've been a bit confused as to the rooting procedure from stock, otherwise it might have been simple enough to install recovery and just flash new gapps...
