[Q] Gingerbread update on T-mobile tab unlocked - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I have an unlocked T mobile tab and Iam wondering if i can upgrade it to gingerbread.
My existing firmware is the following:
PDA=P1000BOJJ2
PHONE=P1000XXJID
CSC=P1000DTMJJ4
If someone can help I would appreciate it !
thanks

I updated my unlocked AT&T Tab yesterday and it is still unlocked.
Just tested it with a Tmobile sim, got Edge data and made & received a call.

Did you have the same firmware as mine? If yes which file did u use to upgrade to gingerbread?
Thanks

I'm using Overcome 2.0: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074759
Just follow the guide exactly, you will need to flash the modem.bin it recommends for Tmobile.
This doesn't touch the folder where the unlock file resides.
I have flashed 2 roms since unlocking and still unlocked.

Mainly iam interested in the stock rom 2.3.3

anyone with t mobile tab that has upgraded to 2.3?

I have. Works fine.

I have also. Works fine. Also it gets rid of that annoying white tmobile screen. Yes!
I have been trying to get rid of that for 4 months.
Before you flash, check the threads for changes in 2.2 to 2.3.3
It is a diff system. Key lights never go out now,
different (worse) taskmanager. You can no longer clear two levels of ram. Some other changes.
Different (worse) download manager. You can no longer see progress its now done or not done.
It is gingerbread so the browser screen has that annoying bounce floating window thing. It annoying also. Makes repositioning or scrolling a browser window a hit or miss.
You are gonna have to flash our tmobile modem.bin to get 3g back.
Interestingly enough, now when I put my g2 sim in here i get internet. Its faster than my tabs 3g according to speedtest.net. It used to take me to that prepaid site.
I am using overcome beta 1 also.
Also apps needing 2.3.3 work now.
Search the threads for more info
Hit the thanks button if I have helped.

[Q] Telstra firmware on AT&T tab?

Hi,
I'm in NY at the moment but I'm headed back to Australia later in the week. The AT&T Galaxy Tab is $649 and the Telstra version is $840. I gather that SIM unlocking either version is not a problem. I spend a fair bit of time in both places. As the Telstra version has voice enabled, I was wondering if it's possible to simply flash the Telstra firmware onto the AT&T Tab? Would this cause any issues? Would it then be essentially an identical device to the Telstra sold tab?
Thanks.
It looks like you will be the first to find out. Sorry couldn't help mate

Find us Telstra firmware and we can at least test that the phone works here in some way.
I posted a similar Q a while ago. I want to flash my T-mobile Tab into a generic Euro (GT-P1000). After that I would like it to work with upgrades through Kies etc.
If I just understood the risks or pro/cons I would go.
I bought the telstra tab. It is unlocked out of the box and has voice enabled. It uses the same bands as att. So I am guess ing this firmware would work fine on an att tab.

It should, but please follow my backup thread and backup your existing firmware before you flash the Euro firmware. Someone, maybe even you, may need it someday.
I don't think I will need to flash any other firmware. The telstra firmware has voice calling and side loading enabled out of the box. It is also sim unlocked. I should be able to put my att sim in, change the apn and go!

I've used the roto backup from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13391743 without any problems a few times when restoring my GT-P1000T back to stock (Telstra).

From what I understand they are cross compatible. I flashed the T-Mo stock rom onto my unlocked At&t Note since I use T-Mobile for my service which allows wifi calling.

1st post after years of lurking:
My i717 is an unlocked ATT and rooted - to run on Tmo. I wonder if the rom (bloated as it may be comparred to the ROM I'm using) will install well on my 1+yr old ATT model. I suppose only one way to tell. (crossing fingers).
Anyone tried to see if nfc beam works by default on this updated / stock rom?
.

It will work on either unit. I currently am using an unlocked and rooted I717 and have run successfully both T-MO and AT&T ROM's.
I just need to get one that's not stock T-Mo to get the Wifi Calling working because I need it for my new place where I get NO reception LOL.

Tmobile rom on AT&T Note 3?

Is this possible to install a tmobile stock rom on the at&t note 3 or will the locked bootloader prevent this? just curious as i'm gonna be moving to tmobile for the unlimited LTE and would like to use the stock apps as well with it. Does anybody know if this is possible? I looked around a little bit and couldn't find any information on doing this.

1. This should be in the help section
2. I've flashed verizon roms on my note 3 without a problem so it's possible. All you'll have to do is update your APN settings. It can't hurt to try it, that's the point of safestrap!
Yeah I'm not rooted so was wondering if the tmobile rom via Odin would fail or not

How do I know my Note 4 is a T-Mobile phone?

I bought a Galaxy Note 4 and the seller said it is a t-mobile phone.
He said it is unlocked and I am using this phone with AT&T.
However, I am having doubts that this is actually a t-mobile phone:
1. When I startup phone, there is no T-Mobile logo screen.
2. There are no T-Mobile apps preinstalled on the phone, except for Mobile Hotspot app.
3. I do not see Wi-Fi Calling feature in the settings list.
I am confused because of this info:
Model Number: SM-910T
Baseband Version: N910TUVU1ANIH
Build Number: N910T-RAC-CONVERSA-ITEP.2014.10.10.1645
Based on the above information, can anyone help me determine which carrier this phone belongs to? Thanks.
Also I used an app to check if the phone was rooted. It says NOT ROOTED.

T stands for T-Mobile
A = AT&T
S = Sprint
V = Verizon
Yours is T-Mobile... No doubt.

I do understand that part. How come there is no t-mobile logo screen on startup, no pre-installed t-mobile apps, and no wi-fi calling feature in the settings list? that confused me.

Settings -> More Networks... no Wifi Calling?
Boot Animation can easily be removed/changed... then unrooted...
N910TUVU1ANIH is the original rom...
then comes N910TUVU1ANJ7...
and finally the newest N910TUVU1ANK4...

Only 3 options in More Networks:
1. Default Messaging App
2. Mobile Networks
3. VPN
Could it possibly be hidden or something because I am using AT&T service or would it show up no matter what service is being used?

It should be there no matter the sim... but hey... don't worry... flash stock ROM, and I bet it will appear... (really don't know why is not there... that's strange)

No, you don't need root in order to flash stock rom...
If you want root and everything, someone did this awesome guide here: (who ever did that guide is awesome!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...sy-steps-stock-odin-n910tuvu1anih-cf-t2903733
If you just want to flash stock rom and nothing else...
Just download the latest rom:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/8fn4xr6hu1mctwo/N910TUVU1ANK4_N910TTMB1ANK4_TMB.zip
and flash it using Odin (use the root guide above as reference on how to use Odin)

BAD ASS NOTE 4
I have this same phone. Got it brand new from rent a center. My theory is rac gets different model number phones then flashes a conversion rom to unlock the phone and remove carrier bloatware ect. It uses Net10 service which in my area runs off ATT towers. The carrier name on my status bar is ATT. The device status also says custom not official. My question is. ..what root method and which roms are compatible with this phone and will I still have service after I flash a rom?
Why is his missing the "N" in front of 910T ?
Mine has the N

[Guide] How to install the MM6.0 for G920T Factory Unlocked Version

To those who flashed the T-Mobile MM6.0 firmware published last week and locked up your SIM network, please try flash the Modem extracted from the 5.1 firmware with Odin under the CP option, make sure "re-partition" is unchecked. It will get your signal back. It was tested on my device, and so far so good. We can use the T-Mobile firmware finally
download the modem from here
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fpkeyps54bzy2l6/modem.bin?dl=0
By chance is this a similar instruction compared to the reddit thread? It seems theres alot of questions surrounding the unlocked version, in reference to this variant that came out of the box, for me as g920tzkax, then updated to g920tueu3cok1.
I agree with this method as it worked for me. I didnt factory reset i just flashed both mm and modem with oden. The only thing for me was it took 2 reboots to get lte to kick in. We unlocked users of this variant should create a thread

yes, I got idea from that thread, but I didn't see a post here. there is not much information about the unlocked version and it took me quite a lot time to do research and trial
for additional detail and information you can refer to the URL below, hope I didn't break anything to post external link here

I had chat with Samsung service support a couple of hrs ago and the guy said we unlocked G920T will likely get the OTA push in next two months. sigh...
Well at least we have mm, just with minor bloatware
