o2 UK HD7 version - HD7 General

Are o2 UK distributing the latest 7392 update yet?
If so does anyone have it installed and what is the battery life like? I'm on the unbranded Euro ROM and the 7392 update trashed my battery life.

I traded in my old HD2 a few days ago for an O2 16GB HD7 - ive fully updated it (7392) and im now on my second day without charging the device.
Battery levels are all about how you use your device, I have the Location/Data/3G all turned off unless I need them, Hope that helps.

Yes same here data off, location off,etc etc only use them when needed and I use wifi when I want to download stuff cause it sucks less juice than 3g these are the best ways to preserve battery life go on give it a try it might just make difference.

I also have an unbranded Euro ROM HD7, If I wanted to install the o2 rom, will my HD7 still be network unlocked and also can I revert to the unbranded euro rom at any time?

Should still be network unlocked, but im pretty sure you will need to configure your own APN settings for messages etc... and I would think so to being able to revert back, at worst you might need to perform the gold card operation.

The Connection Setup should Configure all your Network Settings no matter which ROM you Flash. It will not lock the network flashing a new ROM either.

Can anyone provide the factory UK o2 rom please

Vodafone vs Orange tytn 2

Hi.
I am looking at purchasing my first HTC phone. My first thought is who to go with. As I am looking through the forums people generally don't seem to happy with what orange have done with the tytn 2. However vodafone customers seem quite happy with the v1615, apparently vodafone have not messed with the phone too much and it still remains close to the HTC release.
Do either vodafone or orange change the main screen with the options for weather etc.
If anyone has any further experience with this, It would be great to hear from you.
Thanks
Marc
I have the V1615, which is only lightly branded. The HTC Home plugin (with the weather etc) is disabled when you first get the phone, but can be easily re-enabled in the Today screen settings. Similarly you can swap the vodafone message and calendar icons for proper WM6 icons in the same settings page. It comes with a nasty Vodafone theme installed, but again you can swap that for something more standard.
The only other customisations I found were the dialling screen, and comms manager, which have cosmetic changes to fit with the Vodafone theme but are functionally identical to the HTC versions. It's also missing a couple of apps - namely Windows Live, Messenger, and Worldcard Mobile.
It's perfectly livable with, certainly compared to what I've seen of the Orange version... having said that, I did debrand mine in the end and switch to the stock HTC rom.
PS - from what I've read here and elsewhere the V1615 is actually sim unlocked, so open to any network, but I've not actually tried any other sim in mine.
The orange customisation is appalling... I flashed the phone with the shipped HTC generic ROM as soon as I got it home. Keep in mind that to do this you have to sim unlock the phone (currently no free solution, £20 or more depending on where you do it)
Also, the orange do not provide the TomTom taster than comes in the generic package.
HOWEVER... I have not seen the Voda TYTN II, but I say with certainty that the Orange TYTN (Hermes) looked much better than the Voda TYTN (Hermes).
Can anyone comment on the differences between how the Kaiser handsets differ visually?
EDIT: I just checked, the two variants look almost exactly the same
Just to jump in here too, I'm looking at getting the TyTN II on either Vodafone or T-Mobile, but can't decide which one to get
Just to add, the Voda V1615 did come with the TomTom taster on disk, along with Sprite backup etc - the same CD package as the HTC, afaik.

If this is true (and I've no reason to doubt it) then the Vodafone is definitely SIM unlocked. All I had to do with mine is use the free CID utility available here (which just "unlocks" the firmware itself) and then run the usual Rom Update Utility to flash it with the generic HTC version. Total cost = £0.00.

There are loads of threads with noobs who've flashed and then said AAAAHHHHHHHH WTF ha ha ha ha
I'm not exactly sure why the sim lock kicks in... legally I don't think it should because I have an orange SIM in an orange phone - I've just flashed it with a non-orange OS build.
I read in another thread that maybe the handset detects that you've got a radio stack of a non-orange build and prompts for SIM unlock code...
My UK v1615 is also unlocked. How cool is that?
I rather like the phone so far and visualy it's a very pretty phone with the brushed metal around the screen and the black glossy back. Very nice indeed.
Havent tried to debrand the ROM yet as i've found no reason to.
I have the V1615 from Vodafone and can confirm it is not sim locked none of the phonesi have ever had form Vodafone including my old TYTn were ever locked.
V1615 seems quite normal and has a very low amount of customisation, less than on most Vodafone phones.

What happens is, if you flash a new radio rom (that is not an orange rom) to an orange TYTN 2 then the phone complains about the sim card not being accepted.
The only current way around this is to pay £20+ (there is a member on here that will provide you with an unlock code) and unlock the phone.
Then you can carry on using the phone with none orange radio roms.
What people are currently doing (and sucessfully with out paying £20+ to unlock the phone) is flashing HardSPL and then flashing just the OS rom to their orange phones
Putting aside the Orange variants problem with simlock (which can be solved relatively cheaply) I would have said the argument is which carrier provides you the best deal, not just on the phone but the airtime package, network coverage etc.
At the end of the day, the device is the same and you can flash any of the ROMs found here and customise your shiny device any way you want
To be clear on the Orange simlock issue - this only occurs if you flash a different radio rom, flashing an OS only rom has no issues at all. Currently there is no need to use a different radio rom with the cooked rom's available here.

[Req]Blackstone with O2 Uk

Hello everyone.
I'm beat. I was up to silly o'clock this morning trying to get this thing working.
I purchased to unlocker from this site as I have no posts. I've tried many different roms and radios but I still get no service when I plonk in my o2 sim card.
I have a touch HD that was registered to the orange network that I bought off a friend of mine. I wanted it to work with o2 so I downloaded the unlocker program (paid for) and did all the updating and unlocking that entails.
I then tried a few different roms (even tried win 6.5 but my battrey was getting drained at a silly rate)
The problem I have is that whichever radio I get it's not working with my O2 sim card. I have the little G symbol but it keeps asking for data connection setting and the phone is showing no service. I have even tried radios from other phones with no luck. I'm on the offical htc 1,56,401,0 (43972) WEE rom at the moment and the 1.12.25.16 radio and I'm also getting the greenscreen at the load up but a quick on off fixes that.
I searched the forums but still no joy.
What do I have to do?
Please, you are my only hope.
Thanks in advance.
Do you have the right SPL? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431217)
I used to be Orange, had it unlocked, and am now on o2 with no problems. I use 1.17 radio but I don't think that's the issue
Tried it just now.
Thanks for the advice.
Tried the HSPL Wrapper on that thread, updated the radio to 1.17 but it's still showing no service. Any other ideas?
Thanks again.
did you try put another sim card inside the phone?
I just have O2 cards atm. Still now joy though.
I am a failure.
I've just done a cracking stew in the slow cooker. First time making dumplins. I can rebuild and format a PC in less that two hours but this thing has got me beaten. I suppose I could use it for an e-book reader.
I've now got SPL-1.56.Olnex on there with the blackstonehenge Rom.
and 1.17.25.09 radio but it still won't connect.
If anyone has any better ideas I will make them some stew and dumplins. Geographical location allowing, and if the gf lets me have friends round.
Thanks anyways.

@chg1282002
i think the OP said that they have bought this already
i used to be on orange, now on O2.
how old is the O2 simcard? i think this is the most likely cause
Yes, I already purchased the unlocker. I also tried a newer sim card that was a Christmas present. I'll nip out today and get a 99p sim card from another network. Any suggestions which would be best?
Works with vodaphone
Yes, it registers and works with a vodaphone simcard. It also works with t-mobile but I can't send or recive calls on that (mightbe a sim thing with a need to top up or something) But a new o2 PAYG sim card and my old one still bringing up no service.
Anyone got any suggestions about any manual settings I can do?
Cheers,
henshu

Your operator does have any rom for Touch HD on their site? If it does, try it and see if it works.
Also read this page, seems to be an O2 rom for Blackstone devices http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_Versions .
This page may be usefull too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444170

Hi henshu. Have you tried checking your band settings. Make sure they all are set to Auto. Tap on phone then options then band.

Rooted, updated now bricked?

I bought a c510e as they call it here in China. Got the s-off at the local mobile repair shop. Then I "updated" the ROM to a stock O2rom.exe so I could get facebook, and Android market apps and get rid of all the Chinese apps that I cant use anyway. Phone starts up fine, but I get a message (In Chinese) about my sim card, now I don't have a carrier. It shows 4bars,and that I'm using a CMCC sim card but no connection. WIFI works, but I can't make calls. So I figure maybe the O2 ROM was sim locked to the O2 carrier? I do a restore back to the original China ROM but same thing. I get an error message about the sim card, shows 4 bars and that I'm on CMCC, but no signal connection. Did the "update" screw up the radio?
I'm thinking see if I can update back to a full China ROM and see if that helps.
Any thoughts on what went pear shaped?
Luckily I leave china tomorrow so maybe once I get a new sim card the error message will be in English and I will have a better understanding of what the problem is..
Cheers
Well not sure what was wrong, I flashed the phone with the XTC-clip and re-rooted and all is good.
this is an unknown area.....i didn't have any issues with roms, went from British to Chinese, purely for space, flashed 5 times, no problems.
glad you got it working mind!
Any base rom that is from a network ie o2 is always locked to there network which means you have to ensure the cid is set to an unlocked status, which is what the xtc clip would of done, hence why it would be an unknown area, see big bear even though i got shut of mine still try an lend a hand
Good man! Glad your sticking around

[Q] HD7 Carrier Lock Status after Rom Update

Hi,
My HD7 is currently not running as well as it always has. The power button seems to stop working every so oftern (more so after charging) and it also freezes at the lock screen causing me to have to take the battery out to restart it.
I've never changed the rom, only allowed Zune updates from the original O2 UK rom. O2 did provide an unlock code so I could run Orange UK sims.
My question is, if I install the O2 Nodo rom and then allow the updates again in case the fault lies with the current wp version, will I lose the current sim unlock status and end up with the handset reverting to O2 only?
Regards
Ray
The sim lock is hardware radio dependant, not OS...
YES you can go with any rom you like...

[Q] Branded device, can't connect to 4G

DISCLAIMER:
I'm from Belgium and English is not my native language, I am aware that my English is not great so please forgive me.
Hello,
I recieved my HTC One two weeks ago after waiting 2 months. It was a pain in the ass to get the phone.
Here in Belgium the phone is still not for sale so I had to buy the phone on a site from the Netherlands (algebeld.nl).
Now, here is the problem:
I wasn't aware that I was able to recieve 4G LTE in my region until a few days ago, I didn't know this because I never recieved 4G on my phone. Aparently I should recieve 4G and looked into the settings and everything is set to recieve 4G, so my settings are not the problem.
Another thing I noticed was that I am still on older software and didn't recieve the latest update, I'm still on 1.29.111.11.
This concerned me so I did some research and it turns out (not 100% sure though) that my device is branded to T-mobile, even though it is an unlocked device.
So the reason I can't connect to 4G is (I think) the radio module is clocked at a different frequency so I can't recieve 4G.
I was under the impression that I was buying an unbranded device so this kinda blows...
No 4G isn't the only problem, I will also have to wait for OTA's a lot longer.
So my question is:
Is there a way to solve this? I could root my phone in order to get the latest software but still if there comes an update which updates the hboot, it will check my cid and there will be a chance I won't be able to update my hboot and install the update.
If I could just solve the cid problem it would be awesome because 4G isn't THAT big of a deal, but it would be even better if there was a way to recieve 4G or totally debrand my device. I don't know if there is a way to solve this through software since it's the radio module that has a different frequency and that's a hardware problem :s
Anyway, thanks in advance!
