This is my second release of status bar battery and charge animations, after rebuilding all the images. It should be a little bit quicker for me to change colours now.
______________________
Also, if you could help with some coding advice on how to change the end to the charge animation and lockscreen indicator,
the link to my other thread is here and in my signature strip. Thanks

Preview animations on this post or in my signature strip may not display at the correct speed. They appear extremely fast when I visit this page using my phone. Could be misleading. Also, some static and animated previews are not included because it is imposible for me to built gif's on a clear background.

Decompiled are replacement files for a decompiled framework-res.apk when using a method like apktool/apkmanager.
Compiled are replacement files for a theme zip when using a method like MetaMorph or (I think) ZipThemer.
MetaMorph method works on my Htc Desire.
ZipThemer still refuses to play the game for me. Most probably due to a conflict between the structure of the rom I use and the edify set-up.
Again, feedback needed from anybody who tries these two methods.

Most importantly, this is done at your own risk, so please do your BACK-UP's (nandroid/titanium/sms/ect/ect).
Unfortunately, there are various different file structures for rom's, so I could not package them all in theme zips.

Right then, I want to keep this simple because there are already lots of great threads and tutorials to research from. Just use the search functions.
However, this is how I do it:
1. Use ADB to pull the framework-res.apk from the phone.
2. Use Apk Manager to decompile the framework-res.apk and in its "framework-res.apk/res/drawable" folder replace:
stat_sys_battery_charge.xml
stat_sys_battery.xml
3. Compile with Apk Manager.
4. With Apk Manager, extract the unsignedframework-res.apk just created and in its "framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi(-v4)" folder replace:
stat_sys_battery_0.png to stat_sys_battery_100.png
stat_sys_battery_full.png
stat_sys_battery_unknown.png
stat_sys_battery_charge_anim0.png to stat_sys_battery_charge_anim100.png
stat_sys_battery_charge_animfull.png
5. Zip with Apk Manager.
6. Rename the unsignedunsignedframework-res.apk to framework-res.apk.
7. Push back to phone with ADB and reboot.
Enjoy

Can I add your icons in UOT under SCB%?
Edit: small note - in your files, numbers 57, 58, 59 are shifted left by one pixel.

How about making them in Custom section for different colors? For this case I will need two files: one with all parts turned off (grey) and one with all parts turned on (red). Or psd if you have one.

I am using Gimp, so I can only assume that if I save it as a .psd it will still have the same quality as it would when saved by PS.
I will give that a go with the "Counting" animation. Do you need a transparent background or black (or white, not created yet)?
Curious to know how the kitchen script could edit two png's to display each as a number to human eyes. In terms of scripting/coding, that would be way over my head even if you explained it.
As for the "Scrolling Charge" animation, I am not sure how you would add that to the custom section. Those png's can only be used with the "Scrolling.xml".
I think you might not have had chance to look inside this particular stat_sys_battery_charge.xml so here's how it works.
stat_sys_battery_charge_anim0.png to stat_sys_battery_charge_anim99.png is displayed, then a stat_sys_battery#.png at every 1% of the charge state.
So, I could not post 2 files to you for that, could I?

there are few options how to make it custom.
I will explain to you when I choose one. but at first I need PSD file (or files, whatever you have) to make it happen. I need transparent background.
I could use pngs form your prepared styles, but it whould be much more work.
EDIT: To simply put, I need two options for each segment in LCD - red and grey.
these would be awesome in white!
Thanks mbh87
Do you mean the letters and numbers in white, on a black background?

do not make redrawing. Just save one of our file as PSD and it will be enough. I need it just for reference.
@medozinas
The images in the zips with transparent background are the images I use. Instead of me uploading duplicate images, just open them all as layers.
This is the only image you will not have --> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17038618/GREY.psd
If you use these mods in the uot, I would insist that on the selection page, you add a clear link to this thread for the purpose of development, requests, acknowledgment, feedback, questions, ect.
It would be great if that was applied to all mods in the uot.
Sorry, but now there is no option to put links to original post for each battery style. All I can do is give you credits in thanks page and on UOT thread.
Pitty, because your style is quite interesting. Maybe someday I will make links. Then I will port your style.

UPDATED: 11 Sep 2010
BACKGROUND STORY:
My girlfriend and I both use Pinky Desire Classic rom and think it's great. Pinkolin seems to definately know what he's doing and appears to be on top of things with regular releases (hat goes off to you mate).
I decided that everything in this rom is fantastic ...EXCEPT the plain white (eww) notification pulldown. So I decided to go about figuring out how to start theming roms. This is my first attempt at theming. I created a green theme for myself and a pink theme for my gf... then I decided to make a whole bunch of colors just for the hell of it.
NOTES:
The themes include a semi transparent notification drawer however pinky rom currently doesn't support transparencies in the notification drawer... I'm hoping that support for this will be included in future versions of pinky rom. I'm also hoping that I can get the themes included in the rom manager app in the future for easier installation.
These themes change the color of most colored images in the framework-res and com.htc.resources apks. The themes should work very nicely in landscape or portrait mode and most system buttons, ticks, selection bars, text fields etc will match the theme. I've tested it on Pinky Desire Classic rom and it should also work fine on Pinky Desire Sense rom. I have not tested it with any others however it is reported to be working fine with NeoPhyTe's desire roms also.
I HAVE CREATED ALTERNATIVE VERSIONS FOR EACH COLOR THEME WHICH CHANGE THE LOOK OF THE NOTIFICATION BAR AREA. The alternative versions include transparent notification bar, "realism" static icons (airplane mode/mic mute/silent/vibrate mode/etc), and dynamic icons (such as battery/reception/wireless) which change color according to their current state..
ie.
red=very poor, orange=poor, yellow=moderate, green=good. (ALT1 & ALT2)
red=very poor, orange=poor, yellow=moderate, theme color=good. (ALT3)
ALT 1 looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
ALT 2 looks like this (different wireless icon):
ALT 3 looks like this (ALT2 wireless icon, theme color @ full):
And the original themes are pictured below.
So without further waffling on, to install my themes:
1. Copy your chosen zip(s) to your phones sdcard.
2. Boot into recovery and install your chosen zip straight over the top without any wipes just like the other mods that come with this rom
3. DONE! (You do NOT need to install an original theme before installing an ALT theme. All zips are a full theme in their own right with everything needed included).
SHOUTS:
Avreen - For allowing me to pinch small parts from his "Dr.Droid" theme, cheers dude.
Fightspit - I have 'borrowed' the wireless icon from colored icons theme for my ALT1 themes as requested by someone. Thanks mate.
Pinkolin - Best roms ever hands down no question about it imho.
My Folks - HI MUM! \o/
!DISCLAIMER!:
If your life completely falls apart or you mess up your phone as a result of trying to apply these themes, it's your problem, not mine. This is a simple mod and certainly isn't rocket science, if you haven't done anything like this before, I suggest finding a youtube tutorial or something explaining about recovery console etc.
CHANGELOG:
v1.1: Added textures to glassy parts of notification drawer, got even more buttons themed and settings icon and a few other bits and pieces. Created Alternative 1, 2 & 3 themes for each color. Modified Earth theme to match desire physical bezel.
v1.0: Most button and all text field (*.9.png) images fixed, landscape mode fixed up.
v0.9: Circle battery is now also themed.
TODO:
* Create a "Take me back to default pinky/factory theme" theme.
* Fix reversed shadow on wireless icon on ALT2 & 3 themes
* Upload ALT3 theme (color changing dynamic icons like ALT1 & 2 except that green/good = theme color, not bright green).
* Modify Earth theme hue to better match desire physical bezel.
* Create purple theme.
* Create better notification drawer background (if pinky roms start supporting transparent notification drawer background).
* Experiment with alpha transparencies in glassy areas of notification drawer (may also require support for transparencies at rom level).

SCREENSHOTS:
I love these themes for the dropdown but would it be possible to have a coloured dropdown but keep the Hi res colored icons on the top as I love the graphics on that one plus the way the signal indicator changes colour for different signal strength. I also like the graphics for the gps, airplane mode and sd cards but am really liking your pull downs.

When I have some spare time I'll probably throw something together along those lines... Do you like the dr.droid theme version of those icons up the top with the glassy version of the changing color battery icon? I could ask his permission to make a hybrid of my theme and his theme? or I could just put the basic colorful ones up there... Lemmi know what you guys think.
Thanks for that. The one I am using is the one that Pinky had a link too and is attached I am not sure who's it was.
Thanks for the great work, would it be possible then to just pick which colour drop down you want and add it to this icon pack

Not a hassle... but seriously, check out this theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=760936 and tell me if you prefer dr.droids battery icon to the one in that theme.. Then I can possibly add the dr.droid glassy battery icon and the colorful icons in that theme you attached to your message there (maybe slightly prettier versions) to each of my themes.
I would then make 2 versions of each of the different color "D THEME" themes.. one with my icons and one with the changes you're suggesting.

The battery icon in dr.droids theme changes color as battery goes down as well. Still prefer the battery icon from the other pack?
I installed the theme, it breaks the APN, I can no longer have 3G working now...
Look up the apn settings for your provider on Google, meanwhile I will check this out and come up with a fix asap.

I have been looking around and I really like the "D" Battery Icon by Fightspit off this thread for Froyo Sense, Because it is larger and easier to see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724778
Don't get me wrong Dr Droids battery icons look nice but they are a little too thin for me.
As for the APN I have installed all the themes and not had that problem, although I did have that problem using one of Pinky's Rom before but since putting them back I had not had that problem again.

I have been playing around and have come up with a tweaked combination of that colored icons theme you like (which I've midified a little with slight shading for slightly better aethetic appeal) and I've pulled a few icons from other places and gone with a semi-transparent notification bar. I've mashed all of that into this test theme for you guys to install and play with and tell me what you like and dislike about it. I'm uploading it now, it should be up within about 30 minutes of posting this.
The download link is: alternative green theme test.
For the moment I've only put it together with my green "D THEME" theme just for testing until we can all agree that it's more or less what we want/need. When we have something that is acceptable I will make a version for all the other colors.
So. Lemmi know what you think. ....to be perfectly honest I'm not crazy about the shape of the wireless icon, I think I could do better with the classic wifi icon shape and modify that so it changes colors depending on reception... or something... but let me know your thoughts anyway.

Just downloaded that and I am really impressed, good work but I am not sure about the alarm icon as I have seen nicer ones of them. Also the mobile network 3G/2G/H arrows seem a little fat.
The SD card and Airplane mode icons are really nice.
Any chance of doing this with the Earth / Bronze colour which nearly matches the desire case and using the android logo instead of the fancy desire as in the earth and metal themes.
Thanks again

OK I've changed the 3g/2g/h arrows to sleeker arrows and because you liked the realism of the airplane and sdcard icons I decided to change a bunch of the other icons to more real ones ie. vibrate, alarm, silent, mute mic, car mode, and headphones. I have also changed the wifi icon to something a little more stock looking yet more attractive but i've modded it so that it changes color according to reception like the battery and phone signal reception. I ALSO (and I'm not sure if you'll appreciate this or not) changed the battery icon so that it's green between 50% and 100% rather than blue between 75%-100% so that its more uniform with the other color changing wireless and phone signal icons.
Use the download link in the previous post again. Let me know if you're happy with it, and when we have everything sorted out I will apply it to the earth version and metal version and all the other colors.
Thanks for that, I think its nearly there if the original wi-fi icon which looks like a mast from the hi-res pack was put back I would be really happy as that changes colour. I like the battery as I believe fully charged should be green.
Really liking the alarm, silent and vibrate icons
I could go either way on the 3g/2g/h arrows
When this gets done in the earth theme it will be awesome
Thanks again

The Phone and Swype look great!
Wondering if you could consider on your future version changing the TB. If I had the skills you do, this is the list of changes I would make (if I could, LOL)
Signal Bars- change to all Blue (gradient from silver (lowest) to Blue (Highest))
3G Icon- 1 Change Yellow 3G to Silver or White (What ever batt numbers are), 2 Change Data arrows size (maybe 70-80% current Size) and color from green to blue (Same blue color as the dark in the globe of the Google Search widget you themed).
4G Icon - Similar with the 3G change colors up, size is good though.
Wifi Icon - Same as above silver/white low signal to Blue strong.
The Pull Down menu- I Like the new icons at the top but not all the red around the ones that are off, i get the point red off but its too much we already have red button on the icon switch. Maybe a softer color Like Silver or White when inactive and blue like you have when active. I like the mesh look for below the icons and the bottom bar but I think it looks bad behind the notifications and title (the look and the fact that the alignment does not fit up). Maybe change these to all net, or no blue on the sides only the thin line on top, rather than bordered to avoid the alignment problems and would look better IMHO. Also have the Net look not shaded over (looks almost white) behind the notification (the text is already white so visibility is not a problem).
Not Bashing your theme I do really like it, these would be the changes I would do for me personally if I was as talented as yourself.
Edit: can you post your BG?
Looking very clean as always jstine. I downloaded and will give it a try when I'm not working on a theme for a bit of a break from the daily flashing. +1

In general I like black/blue themes. I like yours for the for the color, style and creativity that is a little more in your face. I like Honeycomb for color and style that it is a bit simpler/more professional looking. So depends on my mood. Not sure if that is helpful as i don't have any specifics things, its more as a whole.
If i have one thing to nit pick on yours that i would like to change is the number buttons on the calculator and phone seem a bit low resolution do to the shading or sonething (not a solid color) and i could do without the blue streaks in the corners of the phone dialer. And i really am nit picking, I love your theme.
Anyhow thanks again for the theme. I "think" (can't remember for sure) I donated on the Blue Glass them, will need to do so again.

For the phone blue streaks, would rather see a picture or just black background?
Ok so been hard at work making a nice blue theme. 90% done and looking real nice. Dug alot of xml files and change alot of major system text colors, still got few more to find. Some screen shots are located here:
http://www.tigerznet.com/xoom
Things to notice
Icons are standard blue
The shadows and outlines are blue
Big clocks are standard blue/dark blue
Major system texts light blue
Descriptions a turquoise color
Running on hammerhead but suggested to use morays battery icons.
This is based on wifi model, still gotta dig up the 3g models.
Disabled text/buttons/icons still gray, left these as is for sakes of easily seeing they disabled.
Thing up coming:
Removal of Redundant battery level in quick panel.
Notification text still gray/white
Apps word still white (did change xml didnt work some reason)
Adjust icons for 3g models.
Any other suggestions from you.
Let me know what you think and any suggestions welcomed.
looks good so far
Is there a way to keep the over scroll glow(and possibly change the color) and then add the bounce to it? Where are the slider(like when you go in settings>volume>all volumes) bars colors located in the actual System(i am theming for a ROM)This is for KK4 deodexed.
Thanks guys and gals!!!
Don't think you can have glow AND bounce, not sure though.
The glow is 2 images in framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi
The progress bars are in the same apk,
It will need to be decompiled and the file you're looking is /res/drwable/progress_horizontal.xml edit it with notepad++
You will see 3 rows of 3 hex code colors. The top row doesn't matter, you need to edit the bottom most 6
Start = top of bar
Center is the middle
End = bottom of the bar.
So there will be 2 of each of those, and only change the last 6 numbers of the color code leave the first 2 alone.
Sounds a little much but once you get in there and see what i mean it's simple.
Thanks, I have already added CRT on and off, I am trying to match everything in the ICS ports, in looks and style, while having the stability of a STOCK ROM(i believe the ICS port is amazingly stable though!)
Hi Folks

How to make a gradience from color to tranparent (or another color) ?
Like I did to create this effect on this Mint Rounded Iconset.
We are going to work on a layer style options. I do it this way to have full control on the gradient effect.
In my exemple I add a background layer (Towelie ) for this effect to be more explicit to you.
First, create a white round shape (press U key, select shape tool each tools have a key assigned).
Tips : shift+key and you will navigate thru "sub-tools".
On the layer list double click on the shape to enter layer style.
In the style window, click on the gradient label to enable it and enter gradient style settings (should appear on the right side of the window),
On the gradient style settings, click the gradient color to open gradient editor window
Everything we have to do (or most part of it) is in this editor window.
1 - click on the left starting color,
2 - pick a color if needed,
3 - click the opacity control,
4 - change opacity,
Do these 4 steps for the ending color. Knowing that you can add steps (colors) to your gradient by clicking under the gradient preview, delete steps by click / hold / swipe away.
Ok now I validate all my settings, here is what I get now after I set my gradient from pure white to pure black each with 20% opacity.
We see the 20% black but not the 20% white, obviously because white is the color of the shape itself.
... But how can I turn this to let my wallpaper appear ?
Here is one of my favorite and not that much used tips.
1 - return to layer style window, ensure the "merge options : default" is highlighted in left column,
2 - then, as you all know, in RGB pure black is 0, pure white is 255. So we're going to ask the layer to display only color between 0 and 250. By setting the slide to 250 (as seen on the following screen capt).
3 - Valide, et voilà !
Tips : Regarding the slide button you set at 250 on previous step 2, This method is very usefull to deep-etch models hair !
Just click ALT key before click /slide the little triangle button, this will split it in half and you can tweak it to your needs.
imagine now I put on top of this gradient another white shape with drop shadow + gradient inverted effects...
Ok you've got the idea ? Now go create !

Tutorial made with Photoshop
[PS6] Tutorial made in Photoshop CS6
First open new doc like 600x290 for the dimensions and 96dpi for the resolution
Tips : on old screen dpi was 72, but now we have some nice IPS and LCD screens we raise the default to 96dpi,
In order to "dress" your creation you can made a gradient background like I did (layer effect gradient set to radial gradient).
I also add some Noise (Filter > Add Noise) but not too much.
Now create a round shape in the middle of your doc.
Press U (to select shape tool) select the round one, now click in the middle of your document then press shift+alt and slide bottom right
(normally a perfect round must grow from the middle of your screen)
... And as we want to develop good habits you will name the layer "base"
Now double click the shape layer to enter layer styles,
- select the gradient overlay effect (1)
- set the style to angle mode (2)
- then click the gradient overview to open gradient editor (3)
Now set the gradient like this :
Click under the preview to add steps to your gradient then change the colors.
press alt+click/slide to duplicate step.
(Shouldn't be a problem for you now you followed the first tutorial your a gradient chief )
Ok, now your steel button start to look like something
Now, just give it a real brushed steel look by adding some noise.
Press CTRL and click the shape layer in this specific zone,
(This will make a selection of your actual round shape).
Now look at the bottom of your layer list and create/add new layer by clicking this bottom icon.
Your selection is still active on the highlighted new layer so now,
press CTRL + Return to fill the selection with white (background color).
(tips press CTRL + Return to fill with background color (default white) / press ALT + Return to fill with foreground color (default black))
Now you should have another white round layer on top of "Base" layer.
- Select Filter > Noise > Add Noise,
- Select Uniform, then set amount around 50%.
- Press Ok.
Now click Filter > Blur > Radial Blur
- Set amount around 100, the blur method to Spin, and quality to Best
- Press Ok.
Now you can press CTRL+D this will desactivate your selection (not needed anymore),
and set the layer fusion mode to multiply.
Fusion Mode is a drop down menu, it's located at the top of your layer list, at the left of your opacity setting (it's set to normal by default).
tips : you can navigate throught your fusion mode by pressing SHIFT+ALT+ + or - and see live result on your document
you can rename your new layer and, if needed, decrease the opacity if the top blur/noise layer if effect is too much (personnaly set my opacity to 70% after taking that screenshot).
Now, button need to be realistic, what about an edge !?
Double click the Base layer to enter layer styles
- Select Stroke (1),
- Set the size (2),
- Set position (3) I personaly choose Inner,
- Set fill with gradient (4),
- Set angle to 90° (5),
- Enter the gradient editor and set your gradient colors (6).
Now you should have something that looks like this :
Last thing concerning the button, the shadow.
- Press CTRL and click the base layer shape to make that shape your selection again,
- create new layer then press ALT + Return to fill the new layer (with round selection) with black (foreground default color),
- press CTRL + D to desactivate selection.
- Then select Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur
- Set it to 4.0, hit Ok.
- Move the layer down a bit.
Now you should have something like this :
Ok Steel button done Now let's quickly customize it !
First, hide the background (we don't need it no more)
Ok, now choose an app icon. I took Gmail one.
- now open your icon image and insert it in your steel button document (on top of all your layers)
- change the app icon layer fusion mode to multiply.
- right click on your app icon layer (in the layer list), then choose create clipping mask,
(this will automatically hide the part of the app icon layer that is out of the layer beneath) et voilà !
... Be curious, Photoshop is a great tool, this tutorial is not just an "how to". You will surely reproduce the tutorial, keep in mind that Photoshop is nothing without the main ingredient : your overflowing creativity
It's 5:00 am here, my creativity needs a rest, have a good night !
