Make sure you always have 3G data turned on. Also use a Bell modem that supports 850Hz, JK4 if you're on 2.2.

Well aware to have that on its Never been off . .

Unable to receive any phone calls XXJVK

I have a Samsung Galaxy S, I was using 2.2.1 XXJPY and am now using 2.3.3 XXJVK. In both firmware versions I have experienced after a random interval of time my phone no longer accepts phone calls, I may have experienced this before these firmwares, but I am uncertain of this. When this occurs I reboot the phone and receive notification of phone calls / messages from hours ago implying that my phone has been "off" to the outside world for some time and that a reboot solves this.
The signal reception bars at this point are 2 or more, but I cannot receive any phone calls, additionally in one of these instances I could not make any phone calls, I believe it may have been the case that I could not make a phone call in all cases but I only tested once.
Anyone have any idea how I can resolve this issue?
Are you using the correct CSC for your network .
I would try a factory reset .

I have the same problem, I tried differents roms, but it is still there...
Can it be the bootimage?
Happens to me sometime. I noticed it after i move from JS8 to JVP. signal at 2 bars and noone can call me and no other communication works that using GSM (weird thing is that 3G net is working )
I do hard reset and clean cache before and after upgrade using ODIN. so its not about settings. Maybe Radio FW?

I'd change the modem.

Galaxy S not making or receiving calls or txt’s using XXJVT/XXJVS Rom HELP!

Hi all, I have been using the Stock Extra from the here for a number of weeks now with no issues. Until yesterday when my galaxy s stopped making or receiving calls or text messages, I get an error message saying text not sent & when I try to dial out it goes straight to call ended. I have tried a restore which didn’t help and I have even went back to XXJVS Rom 2.3.5 but still no calls or texts ! I rang Virgin mobile yesterday and they did all the usual checks and they said it must be a setting on the phone causing the problem as they cant see anything being blocked or barred. When I use my card in another phone it works fine ! My wife’s sim card wont work in my phone either so it has to be the phone ! Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this problem? I am Desperate now I have only had the phone 3 months!
These are my settings now on XXJVSModel No

Did you try a reflash with Odin? Never seen this problem before.
Hi Paulforde, Yeah tried re-flashing with Odin but no change
Cheers
Try a different modem firmware...
I had several issues with several different ROMs but in most cases anything to do with calls, data, wifi, GPS, or BT were solved by flashing a different modem... I didn't notice which country or carrier you're using but I'm in Canada using Rogers and the best modem I've found for signal strength, and keeping all of the other radio related functions working has been UGKC1 This is dependant on where you are and who your carrier is though.
You can find most of the Froyo and Gingerbread modems here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876391
Hope this helps,
Jamie
I have this exact problem with a Galaxy S I just got back from a RMA - the antenna was dodgy or something and it would get poor signal everywhere. Now signal is fine but it won't make texts/calls, again not the SIM.
Does your mobile internet work? Mine does which is weird..
Have you also checked your APN settings??

signal problems

hi
I have got a SGS on Vodafone running Dark Knight 2.1
I have to use the phone in 2g mode.
When I put the phone in 3g mode my signal goes completely. I have spoke to Vodafone and then said use 2g mode.
But I can’t send or receive picture messages.
I don’t use much mobile internet but I would like to use picture messages.
Thanks for looking
try another rom to see if the problem is in the rom/modem. try for example codename android ics, it has worked fine for me.

Confused. No imei but can still Text/Call/3g

Hey guys, I am very confused as of recently. I noticed that for a few minutes (3) my phone lost all signal. It was strange so I went and checked my imei. And its gone, it is the dummy one. Then without a reboot my signal came back and has worked totally fine for a few hours. I can surf the web, send texts and call. I am also posting this over 3g aswell. Even without an imei. How is this possible?
I am curious from a technical point of view.
Thanks

It might be that modem reads IMEI data only once at the startup. And you will not be able to use cell networks after a reboot. Just guessing...

phone signal problem ?

okay so on my galaxy note i have a full signal usually with the H icon, and even with this full signal sometimes my phone gets stuck sending a message or i cannot ring/recieve calls ? it just goes straight through to voicemail. i check my phone and yeah full signal with H. sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt :/
what could be the reasons for this ?
i am in the uk and running the german official jellybean what i got told works fine
but also if i remember correctly it did the same thing on a different rom.
any help is much appreciated and thanks you
i get the same problem.usually only if i have my phone docked.
im running the alliance rom
yeah its really strange i can have full signal but if someone tries to ring me it says my phone is turned off haha :/ i need my phone to be reliable.
Don't use mobile Internet everytime? Disable it then make calls and receive calls it should work
