Ever since the Captivate (and other Galaxy S phones? not too sure) got updated to froyo the option for "Vibrate on Notification" has been gone. Is it possible to put that option back into the newer MMS.apks? I used to use the "Vibrate Tools" app from the market to use my own vibrate patterns but since that option has been gone the pattern mixes up with the TouchWiz messaging app pattern.
I believe the aosp mms has it, cause I'm using samsung's right now, and it doesn't vibrate. But samsung can easily delete selected texts

Indeed it does but I liked using the stock TW version. So I was wondering if it was possible to do that on it..
On Mosaic II and it sucks it can't vibrate when I get texts.

Wait, what? My phone vibrates when I get texts and always has. Is there any reason why you don't want it set globally? As in, settings > sound > Vibrate set to Always?

You might just have to ask the app developer if he can look into it. Otherwise not sure.

Ok this is a modified Mms.apk with 5mb send/receive limit and also 2560x1920 picture resolution send/receive. I hated being sent high res pics and only being able to save them at 640x480...
you need to go into the Mms settings and under "Custom User-Agent" select "Custom" then enter any name you want for the custom user agent... You might need to restart the messaging app, but I tested it and was able to save at full 2560x1920 ...
I'm going to post the modded Mms as an update.zip to flash with clockwordmod.
It's only been tested on froyo.
you might need to clear messaging data...
settings>applications>manage applications>All>messaging>clear data
let me know if it works for you...
Sorry for the noobness but how do I get to the mms settings? Im using the VIPER froyo rom.

make sure it flashed correctly...
make sure you are in the all threads screen in the messaging app. then hit the menu soft key and go into settings. you need to scroll down, it's towards the bottom... in fact if you scroll all the way down in the settings menu the "custom user-agent" settings will be in the top of the screen...
Hope this helps...

did you clear data and change the custom user-agent settings?
also try flashing it again or use the sdx stock app remover to push it and replace the current Mms.apk.

I just noticed that my phone doesn't vibrate and play the notification tone on sms with this mms.apk.
I checked the vibrate always option in the settings.
Can someone else with this mms mod please chime in? I am wondering if this is the culprit.

Does anyone know how to make the lower buttons, back, menu, search, and home buttons not light up when I receive a message our missed call while using the NoLED app?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I don't believe there is that option within the NoLED app. The BLN has to be built into the Kernel I believe.... I'm sure there will soon enough be a supporting Kernel for this as there is much support for the Galaxy series phones and this sort of thing. As I am not a dev I have no idea how easy/hard it would be but I cant wait
The op was trying to turn the lights off not on. As far as I know it just needs to be updated for gingerbread/ns so that the bottom lights don't turn on. You can follow the original app thread here. It looks like the dev won't be working on it til after the holidays.
Why not to use the flash led as in the desire?

As in the camera flash? Well if your phone is laying on it, that probably doesn't work too well
Plus that LED is bright. Not sure what it's power requirements are compared to using NoLED.

That's what Back Light Notification (BLN) is and it needs a supporting kernel to be ported over.
Didn't want to start a whole new thread just to ask a question, but for whatever reason, NoLED doesn't work for me. I'm on Android 2.3.1 running stock (not LP or AWD). I've read the FAQ and I believe I have everything set up correctly. I call myself and miss it and I've emailed myself (different accounts) to test it, but I don't get anything on my black screen.
SOS?

did you use the widget to turn it on or restart the phone? personally i don't like it, i had my phone fully charged and had about 4 notifications bouncing around, not sure if thats a lot but it drained my battery to 16% in about 3 hours.

Yeah my battery also feels like it's draining quickly put I never thought our was because if this, since they say it's good for these types of screens, but note I'm thinking it may be this app. What other alternatives exist to get some sort if notifications for the nexus s?

I honestly doubt its the app. Blacks on SAMOLED consume nearly 0 power.
Check your apps power consumption under Menu > Settings > About Phone > Battery Use.

My phone says 53% display. It can't ber because I haven't even used my phone the whole day, yet I know I had some notifications with noled.

Display will always be the highest under almost every circumstance, regardless if you had the app or not.
If anything is higher than display, I'd be super concerned.

Yes to both. I have the widget set to "on," restarted my phone, and before, made sure all the settings were correct.
Still, nothing shows up after sending myself emails and giving myself calls (didnt' pick up, of course).
Doesn't seem to work; I'm running 2.3.1 with stock launcher.
Just read the FAQ. It's the "No Lock" app that's preventing NoLED from functioning. That's a shame because sometimes when I'm at home, I dislike having to swipe or enter my pattern key to unlock the phone.
NoLED works fine now. Thanks y'all.

I'm finding I don't really need NoLED. I prefer having No Lock capabilities. Oh well.

Same here. I think Android is programmed in a way that the stock apps like messaging' and voice call 'app' would light up the screen and all the third party apps like you mentioned would just ring or vibrate and not light up the screen.. this is my wild guess though
But there must be some settings, if not a mod to change this..

I don't believe you can. You can turn off the stock messaging app but if you use a variety of messaging app then it will ask you which one you want to use and ask you if you want to use one always or just once. That is normal.
I wonder how or if there is an app that can separate the notification sound for each app like What'sapp will play a different sound from the messaging app?

You right. With Audiko, every time you set a notification for 1 app it change it to the main notification on the phone so the key is to go back and change it to something else then you get the ringtone in the list and you can reselect.
All of the above is correct but i use lightflow on most of my phones which manages all notifications individually
