Please guys... I really need help here
Yesterday, I was testing MiniCM7 using xrecovery but I accidentally forgot to backup my android 2.1update1 using that xrecovery. and now I am in MiniCM7 and after finishing exploring MiniCM7, I found that I prefer to use my old android 2.1update1, but....I dont have the backup file to restore. Please someone help me, maybe a link to download the backup img?..or if there is some Mr nice guy to upload a rooted 2.1 back up img ?.. Please, I really need help here

The closest two to ideal are racht's hackdroid, and dx's froyobread which can both be found in x8 development section...

Download the old 2.1-sense from the Hackdroid thread.
Then, unyaffs the system.img, copy all libs from original SE 2.1 and rebuild the .img file (I suggest you to use dsixda´s kitchen, it´s quite easy to use!).
After that, you can flash the ROM (or better, restore it like a normal backup) and you´ll have full working Sense Eclair.
Howdy all, I been reading all through this forum trying to gain info on whether or not it is worthwhile and safe to root and customize this phone. I got one for my mom and i would like it to perform better for her. My main question is how to unroot it if need be and also any re-assurance advice and personal opinion on what would be best for her phone since she doesn't expect much, it would be greatly appreciated! Doesn't appear to be much interest in this phone and wonder why?

Friend, do you backup your rom before flash new rom? If yes, go to CWM and select backup/restore and select restore, after select the folder with your backups and "Yes - Restore". Your folder should is in folder of CWM in your SDCARD.
If you dont have backup you files with CWM, you need .zip file to install the other rom.
Search for ODIN Installer. It will help you to go to a stock rom.

Thanks mate. I don't have any backup. I have found many zip for Android 2.3 but I am unsure if I can update them using the recovery functionality of ICS.
I am sorry to have posted on the wrong session. Anyway I think this problem is related to development as I accepted to install the beta rom on my phone and I think mine could be a common problem of many people.
Hey buddy
If from a cm rom you want to go for a stock rom then you need Odin
Normal flashing via cwm won't work due to the different file systems
But the other way around works

Hi Xda developers and all its users.
I have xperia X8 and i love my phone and using android 2.1 Eclair happily but for so many days i am quite unhappy because of some resons about my phone like
I cant port my apps toy sd card(Main Reason)
Multi touch disability..
So i have just rooted up my phone and install xrecovery 0.1 sucessfully
Now i am bit confused about choosing a rom formy phone..
After reading other threads about same problem some said froyo is better and else said ICS is better..
So guys plz suggest me which rom i should install in my phone which have no bugs and cant be laggy at all...
I can use my phone mostly for gaming, browsing and listening songs.
I like ICS and Jelly beans both..
Is there any custom rom among both of them which i can use....
Please suggest me...
Thank You
Well since you've just install xRecovery i assume you are using stock kernel. So i suggest you to use GingerDX v028b.

As per u all said i installed Gingerdx...but when i reboot my phone the screen stucks at "SONY ERICSSON" logo...
What i do now....??
Install GZR!
your device is on stock kernel so put gingerbread rom/froyo ,its more stable....cause jelly bean and ics are not stable though on custom kernel.

Searching helps. Now, there is no "best rom". But since you pretty much know what you want, i suggest checkinh out the roms in the dev forums and find out which rom suits you best.

and if i want to go from custom to stock rom how to i do it ?? is like normally using odin ????
and one last question when will the andriod 4.2..2 come for s3 mini ?????
Use Titanium backup for aplications. After flashing you need to restore them to new rom.
You can read here about going back to stock rom. It is not for your phone but it is a procedure.
