Every once and a while my apps that are installed on my sd card will mess up, usually after a reboot. By mess up I mean that the icon on the launcher will be the generic android logo and it will be listed on the sd card with a name that looks like com.rovio.angrybirds.
Uninstalling the apps and reinstalling them fixes the problem temporarily, but the apps will still disappear eventually plus I lose all my saved data.
I've seen similar topics that talk about launcher pro causing the problem, but this is different: the installation of the apps is actually messed up.
I'm using a Nexus One with stock 2.2.1 build FRG83D. Thanks for any help you can offer.
When you reboot, give it an extra 30 seconds before you unlock and start using the phone. This will give the phone time to read your card...
Might wanna try a faster card, also.

I tried resetting the phone four or five times and waiting about a minute each time and the apps still didn't show up correctly.
I'm using the stock card, is it really that slow?
Your SD card might be at fault. Reformatting the SD card might help.
I tried doing that a few days ago when the same problem ruined almost every app on my phone. I did a factory reset at the same time and reinstalled every app that I had, just to be sure.
Hi guys!I was just wondering if any of you guys ever had you're galaxy note randomly restarting by itself? It happened to mine a couple times, and just happened again today, right when I just finished downloading the update. The screen turn black right away (at first I thought out was the auto screen off, but it actually restarted). Kinda upset about it

You can read about my own journey down this path on this thread...

My phone also have this random restarting issue. It is :
Gingerbread
Rooted
It's got 16GB sd card
I don't have app2sd installed (but I do have titanium backup and Gemini app manager installed, and have some apps moved to sd).
The last time my phone restarted by itself was on phone network NOT wifi. I was downloading update for an app that is stored on the sd card.

So im uninstalling crap via titanium backup, and i get to watch. I remove it, phone reboots instantly, and now all the crap i got rid of is back again. What the hell happened?

Try freezing instead of uninstalling and see if same thing happens.
Has to do with the write protection on /system. Need the wp mod port to stop this from happening.

Got my Note 3 just this past Thursday, finally finished everything on it this morning, and decided to give it a restart. It went in to a boot loop that no matter what I did I couldn't get it out of. I pulled the battery, sd card, and pen, and tried once more. As with each time I got to the home screen, but this time quickly went into task manager and cleared memory to try and kill all apps in case one was the problem.
My question is if there is a way to try and find out if it was an app, or the SD card, or something else. I know errors are stored somewhere, but for all I know I've never had a reason to try and access it.
As always, thanks for any help

If you can go i to play store and install a logcat program and take a log & post it back here so guys can see what yur device is doing. If you cant get that far you may try factory reset and reinstall apps & settings one at a time to catch the bug

Well not rooted, and found out logcat apps won't work without some trickery in Jellybean and up.
But, I got brave even without my home setup nearby so I can fix things (at the BBQ currently) I tried to rule some things out, and figured out it is something with the SD card. I can boot normally with it out, and insert it after boot. I'm hoping it's just the card, but I will hold off till tonight when I'm home to try and fix it.

Ok, this touch lag will not go away.
Its a 1 maybe 2 second delay between touch and reaponse , and happens every 10 to 15 seconds, even with spen. Can be writing a word or draw with spen and a second later the action finally appears.
Ive done all I can think of. I completely reset my phone, didnt work. Last night completly reflashed the stock rom, re rooted, cleaned completely with sd card out, still there.
I have done all the usual, froze apps, took tempered glass off, installed seeder as a suggested, turned off secure storage as suggested, and more. Still there.
When i received my phone, it had absolutely 0 lag, i mean none.
It started after that damn update, which oddly, fixed others lag problems.
So, I will take any and all suggestions no matterwhat it is. I don't want to return it because of various reasons, plus it was fine before.
Should I start over with the original firmware that came with the phone, wait for another update, what?
Thank you to anyone who has any other suggestions, i will try anything. This is my last resort before returning.

I am the same. My phone has some lag here and there delay when I type something and facebook are very slow when I scroll. Last night I flashed back to stock and rooted again. So far I didn't get any lag yet. I believe this is something with the software in general. I disabled so many apps so far no issue.
The stock keyboard and Recents are the only two areas with minor lag. I'm on Google keyboard now with no lag.
Not much you can do about Recents.

did you try removing your ext sd card, rebooting, then putting it back in?
a few folks said that "unmounting" and re inserting their sd card made the lag go away..
I know in the past, a few phones had weird issues fixed when "resetting" their external sd card, so if you have one, it might be worth a try..
I see ZERO lag on my stock, unrooted phone, with a 64 gig sd card, but I did not have to do this "procedure"

Any other suggestions?

Did you try going into developer options and check all of your settings and try setting your animation scales to 0 delay. Power off after you set your new sittings don't restart.

Well that's my 2 cents... I'm on stock with the new update and lag is gone. Flesh out the box, well that's another storie. Good luck

Search the forums they've been talking about that since day one. (lag on rooted n4)
SetCPU, over clocked to max and no lag here. Battery life is dimished by about a half hour, worth it.
Unmount sd card in settings play around with phone without sd card for like 5 minutes when no lag reinsert sd card play for like 1 minute reboot lag sgould be gone
Ive tried everything. I even ran the f'er in safe mode awhile and its still there. Dunno, screw you update
