I've been using a Stability ROM for a week now, but today I decided to flash another one (HYBRID 5.0 (did: wipe data, dalvik, cache)). I didnt like it so I (wipe data again) flash another - Insanity CM 049 and the problems begun there.
ROM started to install but something went wrong and then 3 screen started to show up - instaling ROM, then Galaxy S Cyanogen(mod) and standard SGS start up screen. they change fast...
what should I do? I got an international verzion of GS - i9000.
ps. I flashed everything through recovery mode.
someone???
can someone help me?! I'm without a phone whole day...

remember to hit thanks
Hi peeps. I just need a little help if you guys can help me here. I recently just bought a Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570 with stock Froyo 2.2.1. I already updated to the latest Gingerbread 2.3.4 and I wanted to install a custom ROM using CM7.
1) I already rooted the phone.
2) Checked "Unknown Source"
3) Installed Clock Work Mod
4) Copied the latest CM7 (update-cm-7.1.0-GalaxyMini-KANG-signed-15112011) to root of SD card.
5) Booted to recovery mode and followed the following steps:
A) Wipe data and cache from the options
B) Select the option ‘install zip from sdcard’ then select ‘choose zip from sdcard’
C) Selected the zip "update-cm-7.1.0-GalaxyMini-KANG-signed-15112011"
D) Waited for installation to finish. After completion I wiped data & cache again.
Now here is my problem:
I followed all the steps over and over from yagyas way and other forums and even tried to clear only cache after installation but still my when my phone boots I am stuck on a screen with only "ANDROID" shown.
Could it be the latest CM7 that I am using that is not compatible with my unit? Or am I doing something wrong? Please help. I really want CM7 and any help here is greatly appreciated.
If you can help, and have the patience, please give me specific details on installing CM7 on my S5570. Thanks for all the help here.
By the way, my version of 2.3.4 Gingerbread is S5570DXKPD_S5570OLBKPD (Asia) and I was wondering if could this be 1 of the problems? Because in 1 of the forums I saw "FIRMWARE S5570XXKPI OR XXKPL OR XXKPK !!!!!! THIS IS FOR CWM USERS ONLY!!!!"
try to wipe dalvik cache too before falsh.
there a re new version of CM7, cm 7.1 17112011 and 7.2, you could try this version too!
This is all I can say....assuming u really are stuck there or boot looping.
Wipe data and cache before flashing and not after...though this should not be a prob.
Doing what I told works,
Flash cm7.x once again.. I'm got this problem from emanon to cm7.2, then i did reflash cm7.2 again...and now...cm7.2 on my phone and ....waiting RC.2 .... B-)

GPS\NAVIGATION APPS does not work!!!
can enyone please help!
I've installed CM7.1 and every GPS app does not work.
I have the XXKPL version!
10X.
This happened to me,too! I just reflashed it. Sometimes this happens. I've read its called a 'bad flash'.
Reflash. That oughta work!
I've tried this for several times and yet not good!

Two recoveries
Now i have tried installing cwm through rom manager and successfully installed it, now if I go into the recovery mode through rom manager it shows the new recovery but if I go into the recovery mode through the combo (volume up button home button and power button) it goes back into the old recovery ie dark core recovery, so that means I have two recoveries in my sgs? Please help, thanks in advance
Because you're on Darky's ROM, you already have CWM. You don't need to install new one through ROMManager.
Only thing you have to do now, is wipe and flash.
With Darkcore there is no need to install the CWM Recovery through the Rom Manager. Anyway ist seems installing CWM with Rommanger does not work with the SGS. (I didn't try because i always got it with a Custom kernel but i read it a few times). Instead you have to flash a Kernel which includes the CWM Recovery
To the installation of the CM7-Rom. I usually flash a Samsung Stockrom before flashing a Custom Rom. It seems to be the "cleaner" way. But if you go after Erakko's Instructions you will get CM7 as well I think it's on you which way you will prefer.
I Cleaner install would help to make the transition easier...
go back to stock, then to cm7....for a much cleaner install....cause switching between custom firmwares leads to a few bugs at times.
Sorry but getting confused on what is a Nandroid back up, is it the back up option on the CWM or on the darkcore recovery?
It's a CWM-backup.
Nandroid restore table:
BACKUP -> ACTIVE = RESULT
Samsung -> CM =
Samsung -> Samsung =
CM -> CM =
CM -> Samsung =
So the other day I tried to flash Slim ICS on to my i9000 but I failed. There's like three methods you can try between if the first one doesn't succeed... Non of them worked for me. I still got the same boot loop on every method, every time. What am I supposed to do? Can someone please be so kind and write me a step by step tutorial of how to install Slim ICS. Worth mentioning is I'm on Darky's gingerbread rom JVQ v10.2 RES.
You flashed ICS Kernel first? Tried to install the Rom twice? First to install Kernel and second to install Rom?
Step 1. Boot into CWM recovery.
Step 2. Wipe data/Factory reset.
Step 3. Mounts and storage> Format / System.
Step 4. Advanced> Wipe Dalvik cache & Wipe Battery stats.
Step 5. Install from SD card...
i. Flash Base_3.6.zip
ii. Flash Base_3.6.zip again
iv. Flash 3.6_I9000_Essentials.zip
v. Flash any other .zips you require like face unlock
**Step 6. Flash an alternative kernel like Siyah or NEAK, SOD reports from users of stock kernel. I flashed Siyah from the beginning when I updated to 3.6 so can't comment.**
Reboot.
Happy days!
**EDIT: SORRY don't flash Siyah or NEAK because they are GT-I9100 kernels!! Ma bad!

I've followed step 1-5 with no luck whatsoever. I haven't tried step 6. I will probably end up in a boot loop after step 5 so how do I install the kernel? Should I put the kernel on the SD card together with the rom and the essentials and flash the kernel before the reboot after step 5?
You could flash your I9000 with another ICS via Odin and then try??
PLEASE NOTE I edited my post above, blasted Tapatalk.

OMG! I'm panicking! I just cannot get it to work... I've tried everything! Done all the methods recommended. Flashed semaphore ICS 1.1.1 and it still won't work! The only taste of this "well spoken of" rom I can get is through slim ICS v2.6, it doesn't boot loop but when booted I can't seem to get any 3g or signal. So not even that works. I WANT THIS ROM SO BADLY! Please someone help me!
Follow a thread like Team ICSSGS for dummies or ICS333 to get ICS on your phone then follow steps below (from Slim website).
From another ICS ROM
1. Download my latest Base + Essentials (from downloads page download zip not md5)
2. Enter CWM, wipe data, format system ( in mounts and storage)
3. Flash Base*** AND Essentials, Reboot to system.
*** - If the base flash is too quick ( < 5 seconds or so), reflash base before flashing essentials.
You can also clear cache & dalvik cache, clear nstools & init'd (advanced menu). You should clear cache & dalvik cache, nstools & init'd before flashing semaphore. Also once in ROM it is best not to actually use nsTools but rather use semaphore app.
No need to clear battery. My battery is as good as ever and I've never done this and I've flashed a lot of different ROMS.
if you are coming from gingerbread you will need to flash a modem.

Hi guys,
I have my Galaxy note since 4 months now I and think it's time to update it to ICS and why not to a custom rom like Criskelo (before my Note I had the GS II and I was really happy of the Criskelo Rom I installed on it).
So here I am, looking for informations about how to proceed to upgrade my phone..
I read a lot of post, it seems that few ROMs are really dangerous and can block the phone, and it seems that the LC1 is unrootable so I would have to downgrade it first ?
So can someone who know explain me how to proceed ? which steps should I follow?
I read that to go to ICS LQ8 from GB, I should first
"Install ics repack by chainfire via mobile odin-reboot-reboot into revovery-full wipe-install criskelo ics "
But there is a topic "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633943" which say "do not install any ics repack"...
So I'm totally lost !
I hope someone can help me, as I said, my goal is to go from GB LC1 to ICS Criskelo7 LQ3!
Thank you in advance
Hi!
To get root from lc1, you can just use a french tutorial here:
http://www.galaxynote.fr/rooter-facilement-son-telephone-t3714.html
Can't be more simple!
From there I didn't get to know how to install a stable ics rom.
Just let me know if you find a simple and safe way to install a good rom.
Regards

You can follow the procedure suggested by xda developers:
When on any rooted GB Rom:
1. download AbyssNote 4.2 kernel and place it on your internal/external SD Card
Also download the ICS Rom you want to install and put it on your SD card.
2. reboot to CWMR and do a backup of your current system
3. after your backup is done, stay in Recovery
4. go to install a zip from SD card --> select AbyssNote 4.2 zip and flash it
5. go back to CWMR's root menu --> advanced --> reboot recovery
6. you'll find yourself in AbyssNote's Touch Recovery
7. factory reset --> wipe cache --> wipe dalvik
9. flash the ICS Rom of your choice
10. reboot and let the Rom settle for a couple of minutes
Hi Guys,
Thank you very much for your fast answers !
Tonight is the big night, I will upgrade my device !
@jabab : I will follow thistutorial to root my Note
@tknguyencsu : Ok then when my GB LC1 will be rooted, I just need to follow you instructions !
Can you explain me why is AbyssNote needed ? No risk to do a factory reset on my GB LC1 stock rom ? Do you agree that all this means I go directly from my GB LC1 to a ICS LQ3 without any middle step with a lower ICS version ?
Sorry for all this newb question..

Thanks for this !! But I have just got my Note and its LC1 - Can I just flash the zImage I got from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360 Or do i need to do the whole downgrade procedure ?
Hi again !
Thank you very much guys, It's done for me ! I'm on Criskelo LQ3 and everything was fine !
@azzledazzle: As I understood on different post, the stock GB LC1 rom is not rootable, so you will at first need to flash an other kernel in your device.
Few options then, as tknguyencsu advice, you can install "AbyssNote 4.2 kernel", or a "Rooted_Stock_Odex_N7000XXLC1_FRANCE" which I did (few posts will give you a link to the one you want).
You flash then your device with it (non-wipe) and then you will be able to root in an easy way.
When your device is rooted, do a backup, and then go for a full wipe (I think it's more than needed to go from GB to ICS).
Then > install your ROM
For perfectly for me !
Thank you for your help guys
(ps: do I need to do a batterie stats reset ? if yes should I do it when the device is fully charged ?)
Hey man, Did the above steps but ran into a few issues, To save me double posting heres the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27716441&postcount=78
Im back on ICS now, with CF kernel... Dont know what step(s) to take next
And what about the triangle after flashing with Abyss?
Yeah I have that too, But im not using abyss any more, Im using CF kernel, and i still have it.
Not so keen on CF kernel, I heard someone got the hardbrick with it. Am i to use the CWM app for all flashing now ? Cause when i booted into recovery and flashed abyss it wouldnt boot.
From what i as able to understand - if we do this:
"4. go to install a zip from SD card --> select AbyssNote 4.2 zip and flash it
5. go back to CWMR's root menu --> advanced --> reboot recovery"
in other words - if we do not boot with Abyss we won't get the yellow triangle.
Is this correct?
