I think is a known issue, but is there a fix to allow the top right of the screen to work. Its really diffult to use the nook app with this issue.

It's a known issue with the Nook app update itself. B&N said they were looking into fixing it sometime (tm). If you're having issues with other apps or just the screen in general and corner sensitivity, download Nook Recalibrate from Market and run it. Don't touch the screen (make sure it's clean prior to doing so) and let it run --- it'll just sit there for a minute or two then reboot.
Thanks, yeah i guess ur right it is just the app.
I should probably recalibratw anyway since I installed a screen protector.

I'll second this, from a theming point of view, this would be a desirable thing to have... perhaps someone could suggest a hack instead
I was about to suggest this app:
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.geekherd.softbuttonshack
however it is clearly stated that this is not possible on the Nexus S
*ALERT: The Samsung Nexus S will NEVER be supported. Not because I don't want to, but because it is not possible, I own one and I have tried and tried. Samsung (or Google) have decided that the bottom LEDs will always be on as long as the display is on, powered at the same time. Obviously breaking a few APIs as well as the ability to turn those LEDs off based on the light-sensor.*

I have Phiremod 6.3 and the NOOK Andoid app doesn't allow me to click on the search button on the top of the app. None of the app's top buttons work. Is anyone else having this issue or know a solution. Yes, I have uninstalled and reinstalled and still no dice.

You may be suffering from the infamous insensitive Nook screen edges.
Try clicking about 50 times on the search icon. It will eventually work :-(
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
No it is not the edge thing because every other app the edge sensitivity is perfect. None of the icons on the top work, I am suprised that nobody else has experiencd this.

We have this issue with my wife's NC
The search button "does" work-ish if you can find its spot lol
I feel like the touch zone went from being the whole area of the button, to a single pixel in the dead center of it.
if we keep touching A LOT right around the center, you'll catch it.
Its REALLY annoying
I haven't found any solution yet.
I just click the search button in the status bar and it works exactly the same as the search button at the top of the Nook app would.

That's the strange thing about this. Other apps would put a button in the same place and not have a problem...
Just try hitting it a few times.

I have this exact same problem but even with some of the other buttons in the Nook reading software. It's extremely frustrating and I was hoping there was a fix for it. Those buttons on the top right are nearly impossible to use and the drop box menus are also very faulty. No tips to fix this?

I saw somewhere that this is an issue with the Nook app. Supposedly B&N knows about this and are working on it.
I have the same problem by the way. Just keep tapping on that stupid little button. It'll work eventually.

Yes, I've read the same thing. Same problem as well. If they offered a Menu that duplicated those functions I'd not care a bit.
Those curst buttons aren't working on my NC, so I won't be using this app until B&N fixes it.
My search button works but the menu button doesn't, go figure. B&N tech support said to use the stock software, not CM7... >:C
Help!! Haha i had seen an app a while back that some dev had made where the XOOM could lock upon light sensor being covered and awakened when uncovered but i can't seem to find it now! Should of just bought it back then. Anyways if anyone knows of it or a different similar app that uses light sensor info would greatly be appreciated thanks!

I just downloaded that and it seems to work well. One of the default settings disables it in landscape mode, which might be the problem you guys are having. Either deselect that option or try it in portrait mode to see if that works.
I'd still like to find something closer to what is described in the OP. It would be kind of useful to have it just turn on and off when I open and close my case.
Aite I got it to work upon closing sweet now if i can just find one that "aweken" my Xoom upon opening case....

I think you might be talking about Killswitch. It was developed by an xda dev. I tried to use it with my 7 inch tab, but had fcs. However he was very helpful. I haven't tried it with the Xoom, but I think I'll look it up.

I know it's technically solved, and unrelated, but I wanted to let you in on a related note.
If I manually shut my screen off on the charger, but then move a mouse connected to it, the screen will turn on.
Hello everyone,
I recently got a replacement Nook HD+ as the original one had battery issues.
But whenever I use it, I notice some weird behavior. For eg: When I tried to use it for the first time to register it, it prompted me to choose a wireless network and when I'm about to enter the wifi password, that pop up goes away. Plus, it does some random work of its own like pulling down the top menu and canceling it out.
I tried doing a factory reset but it didn't take me anywhere. I'd greatly appreciate any help on this. I'm not sure if I'm making any sense here. I could upload a video if that would help.
Thanks in advance for your time.

Try resetting it by interrupting the boot 8 times in a row. That should make a clean install.
Sent from my BN NookHD+ using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
By any chance do you have a screen protector on your Nook? If that's not the case, then is your screen perfectly clean?
The problems you are mentioning often occurs whilst a screen protector is placed on the screen. If you do have a screen protector on, you may have to remove it to get the full functionality. You may also want to clean your screen if you don't have a protector on.
After doing the above, I'm pretty sure you problem should cease to exist. All the best.

Thanks for your response, leapinlar. I did as you advised and it seems to be installed again. But I still have the same issue. (After choosing the wifi, it won't let me enter the password, the popup would just go off!)
Turning the device off is a nightmare as well.. After I long press the power button, the popup for shutdown would go off before I could hit "OK". Have to try a few times to accomplish this trivial task.

Sounds like you have a screen problem. Cleaning did not help? May need a warranty exchange.

It might be a dumb suggestion, but make sure you aren't touching the screen while holding the tablet. When I got this tablet (my first) I was frequently holding it wrongly, like my palm was touching the screen while I was holding it. It usually zoomed in web browser/maps by itself but was my fault. After buying a case my problems were gone.

I had the same problem but it turned out to be a problem with the stock Android keyboard ASOP not loading. (Unfortunately, Android keyboard (ASOP) has stopped) is the error message I get. That's why he can't input anything. If he goes into the Settings/Languages & Input under Keyboard & Input Methods the Android keyboard (ASOP) checkmark is greyed out and you can't select it.
I'm a newbie, less than a week into rooting my Nook HD+. Was having success until last night. Still trying to solve this problem myself. I had everything fine on my Nook HD+ using Nightly Builds, but decided I wanted to switch to the stable 10.2 Cyanomod to see if things ran smoother - and that's when I started having the problem (as of last night).
It is because CM10.2 requires different gapps. Try 20130813.

That's the one I've used from the start. Worked fine under CM10.2 nightly builds from 10-21 onward that I installed. Then went back to the stable version of CM10.2 and had the problem with the Android Keyboard not loading.
About to wipe everything and start over from scratch with CM10.2 Nightly Builds. Unless anyone has a simpler cure.

Actually, I figured that out when I went to DL the latest nightly. (I'm a bit dyslexic so if I don't stop and read very carefully I make mistakes like that).
