Dump that rom do a clean install see if it comes back and if you want to upgrade get a service that does not have thousands of broken phones in its wake .

Then if it works Build a ROM .

[Q] Where is the system folder?

trying to install this

The system. Folder is the one name android
Sent from my sgs
kernel: galaxian
Rom: jetpack
From your post I think you are using stock ROM with out root access. If you really want to customise your phone go for some custom ROM. You will get full root access. Try Darky 10.2 RE. You can follow the Installation procedure in my signature.

[Q] How do I reenable boot sounds

hi everyone, I use to look for information here and now, since I haven't found an answer was time for asking
I´ve installed a JVK version of gingerbread (using Odin), I wanted do have a recently version and I mounted a JVB version with a touchwiz updated.. after that I wanted to have a rom from romkitchen so for that I had to update the "Wordclock mod" to a version that "accepts" zip files to install.. and the problem is that the files that I found were CF-Root-XW_XEE_JVB-v3.1-CWM3RFS for the jvb version and CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVP-v3.7-CWM3RFS for the jvk (which being a jvp works with the jvb) (in this site http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108 ) which basically have removed the boot sounds.. so what I wanted to do is to reenable boot sounds. So, with this I´ve got some questions
Is it possible to update the WCM from the gingerbread version from an app or how can I update it directly from the gingerbread rom so I will have the bootsounds and also update the WCM so I can install any zip file.
(Actually I use this gingerbread version as a basis to a have a clean rom to install my "modem.bin" file and then I update the WCM so I can Install the zip rom that I would like to have )
(actually the question would be: how can I update WCM to a version that allows me to install zip files without disabling bootsounds
Or, simply, how can I reenable bootsounds in a JVS version of gingerbread 2.3.5)
thank you for your help

[Q] How do I downgrade back to stock Froyo after upgrading to 2.3.6 JQ8?

i want to restock my tab to froyo from gingerbread ..as i am not happy with the performance of the gallery and some other apps ..
i am in india.. so can u please provide me stock froyo rom ..and i need help in reverting back ..
thanks in advance
First make a backup of your currently working firmware using ROM manager by CwM and copy all the files to your PC.
Then you need to know what is the model number of your Galaxy Tab. P1000 or other?
Start the phone application on somebody's Tab who has exactly the same Tab what you have and runs on Froyo. Then enter *#1234#. It will give you some data like:
PDA: P1000.....
PHONE: P1000.....
CSC : P1000.....
write it down. I have to mention that the code only returns data if it has the original stock on it and not a custom firmware.
What makes difficult that for Froyo and Gingerbread there are many country and mobile vendor specific versions and you have to find the correct version. Search the net for the correct version. You should find a file for example: P1000XXXXX_P1000XXXXX_P1000XXXXX_HOME.tar (XXXXXX = PDA, PHONE and CSC)
Extract this tar file to a directory on your PC.
Your Tab accepts only those specific files without problem. No other. Put your Galaxy Tab into download mode and install Heimdall driver.
Then start Heimdall Frontend to flash back the files. Load first the PIT file included in the package. Then make sure you put the correct files to the correct places.

This site explains the structure.

An app called QuickPic is a nice alternative to Gallery, which I found is typically very slow & laggy on my devices. QuickPic is pretty snappy although there is a very slight delay in sharpening the pic when you advance to the next photo.
Are you still using a stock kernel? I wonder if you might get better performance using a compatible kernel that has Voodoo lagfix (ie. EXT4 conversion)?

[Q] Suggest my a ROM for my friends GT-S5830... thanks in advance.

Hi friends........ this afternoon i have "worked" on a GT-S5830 of my friends.
I have updates to latest 2.3.6 using Kies... after this i have without problems make root and installed a CWM custom recovery....... after this i have installed this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341087
It's the Touchwiz UX 5.0 by Nathan..... working... but this rom have a big problems.
Before to installed me and my friends have backup the contacts... the sms/mms and some notes (make with promemoria samsung application) with kies and appears this ROM, after flashed and reboot without problems, not support the SAMSUNG KIES and we can re-install all backup.
After some trouble we have found on internet a NETHERLAND 2.3.5 original firmware .tar.md5 and we have reflash it using ODIN 4.38...... now using KIES no 2.3.6 has been suggestion to updated..... because ?
But, because now we know how to do the root, we can try to install a CF on this phone ?? We can suggest a good rom ?? And a simple guide to procede to install starting from official 2.3.5 at this point ?
We only need the support for SAMSUNG KIES after reboot (or suggest another different method to backup and restore CONTACTS or sms/mms ad all other similar thinhs on sims and on phone into a folder of pc 4 example)............ we can suggest ?
