Music Beta on Nexus S - Nexus S Themes and Apps

I received my invite for Music Beta yesterday. However, while the 'cloud' music shows up on my Xoom, its not on my Nexus S. I'm guessing the problem is that Music sync isn't showing up on my Nexus S under Accounts & Sync settings. Is there a way to add it somehow? Obviously I have the new Music app installed as well.
So anyone else had this problem? Is Music Beta working on your Nexus S?

I was having the same issue when I got my invite. Try uninstalling the music update, then re-download it. I should have done that first but I just did a full phone reset because I'm impatient. After the reset I was able to sync with Google Music.

Uninstalling / installing the update didn't work. Hoping I don't have to reset because its a huge pain with 2-step verification turned on. Anyone else have this problem and solve it without resetting the phone?

Mine doesn't show under Accounts & settings but is available under settings in the music app. Works great on the Nexus and the Xoom.

Try "Clear Data" on the Music app and restart your phone.

Hi. I received my invite today and have started uploading music. However, I'm having the same problem where my Nexus is not connected to my Music Beta at all. There's no option to sync music under accounts and settings under any of the accounts on the phone. I have the latest Music app update and have tried rebooting, clearing data then rebooting, uninstalling updates then reinstalling them, etc. There is also no menu settings in the music app that would allow me to sync (when I go into the music app and hit settings, all I get is "shuffle all" and "search".
Any ideas? This is kind of frustrating. I know my way around computers and Android phones but this has got me feeling like I've never seen either before.

What worked for me is remove the stock music app with root explorer then download the new one... open it then close it clear data and restart.. then it connected without an issue

When I first got my invite, I couldn't add my account to the app. Went to sleep, woke up the next morning and the option was available.

F.Y.I. for all new Google Beta Users you have to go to Accounts and Sync under your Android device and sync your Google Account, when it is done syncing you will get a notification to activate the device with Google Music Beta.
By the way the update to Google Music makes it so Google Music can be mannually synced through Accounts and Sync.

This worked beautifully, thanks.

I think you can use Android app with google music if you are in USA.
I got a invitation but still cannot see entry under account and sync.

Just FYI. The Music Beta can be registered to only 8 devices at a time and beyond that will not work. Every newly flashed ROM will count as an authorized device.
Go to settings on music.google.com and unauthorize the extra devices.

that's wrong, if you received the invitation you can use in any country, but, to download the app you will need "market enabler"

Could i possibly request an invite? so i can have some input on this topic? [email protected]

anyone elses 'pinned' music for offline listening wiping after each reboot? So f-ing annoying. Apparently there is an issue with the mounting/unmounting of the NS's sd mem.

All cached music are stored in

Under Settings, I have 'Cache music', 'Download via Wi-Fi only' enabled.
It seems to cache normally on 3G/Wi-Fi connection and is stored permanently inside sdcard regardless of a reboot or flashing a new ROM.

I was getting the SD mount issue for a while. In etc/ there is vold.fstab which mounts SD, change the 3 to auto, hasn't failed to mount since

Working for me. I'm outside us, with invitation and nexus s only. Uploaded my song in computer.

It does work on Froyo but it really doesn't like being set up.
When I updated to Froyo and wiped (I had to do 4 wipes in about 10 days due to getting a market issue), I found it very difficult to switch on.
I tried various combinations of setting Twitter up through the app and / or through the Accounts and Sync settings, and eventually got it to switch on (I think through Accounts and Sync in the end).
Mine wasn't working, then it randomly started syncing again.
I also have problem with the official Twitter app. It doesn't refresh on its own anymore. I have to do it manually. It was working fine before Froyo. Do you guys have the same problem or is it just my phone?

FB Contacts Don't Sync W/ GE ROM

So I installed the Google Play edition ROM, from bigxie. And since I can't post in that forum with less than 10 posts, I have to ask here.
I'm unable to get my Facebook contacts to sync into my phone. I've tried removing the account, and even reinstalling Facebook. I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue.

use haxsync
I'd kinda like to get the phone working the way it's supposed to work rather than downloading an app for it.
Facebooks contacts, at least for me, have never synced with vanilla android. Only way is to use a third party app.

As notown said above, you have to use an asp to sync contacts. Haxsync is my app of choice

FB & Google haven't played well together (on purpose) since either 2.3 or 4. Haxsync works perfectly to get around the contact sync issue.
So yeah, you're not "using an app to get the phone to work correctly", you're using an app to fix Facebook being a bunch of jackasses. It's "working correctly" by not syncing in the first place.
Oh alright. I just figured since they synced in Sense they would sync without it.

Avia extras for Chromecast

Bought avia extras with one email account but if I add any other email accounts it won't recognize that I bought the extras, any ideas what can cause this and if there's a fix

I'm assuming you're using the Google Play version and not the Amazon Appstore version, right?
I've never been clear as to what the license behavior is supposed to be when there's more than one Google account on the device.
Check with Avia support so they know about it, but if you're only adding the other email account to check its mail, I would just add the second account as an additional mailbox in the Gmail app, rather than adding the entire account to the device.
I got no problems with it.

Are both versions from both stores the same? It's weird that I can only have one google account on my device for it to work with in app purchase and when I add my other accounts the in app purchase disappears

The binaries are different due to the store differences and generally speaking Play versions tend to be updated more frequently. Avia seems to update the Amazon version fairly often though.
Are both accounts you're adding Gmail accounts? I don't think it shouldn't make a difference but you never know.
I just added a second Google Apps account (not Gmail but Google-hosted) on my Android 4.3 phone and set it to only sync mail.
Rebooted, and ran Avia. Avia (Google Play version) still lets me cast.
So sounds like a bug in Avia, not sure if it might be specific to your Android version or ROM. Before upgrading to 4.3, I couldn't cast local media with 4.1.2, though 4.1.1 was fine.

As others also seem to be okay I'm guessing it's something specific to your device configuration or perhaps one of the accounts.

[Q] Google account sync error - "Sync is currently experiencing problems..."
Hi guys,
I'm having issues with my Google account sync.
Google Play Music is causing my account to have a sync error.
I get the error message:
Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.

And there is a sync icon with an exclamation point (!) by Google Play Music, when I press into my Google Account in Settings.
It's been like this for a few days now and I feel it's affecting my battery life, as the failed sync re-tries again and again.
Some forums have suggested disabling 2-step verification, removing the Google account and then adding it back, clearing app cache, etc.
I've done it all with no success.
For what it's worth, if I un-check the Google Play Music sync box and run the "Sync Now," sync all, their are no errors and the UI shows a successful sync icon.
I'm not sure what's going on here.
Thanks,
-Donnie

Try removing your Google account and then add it back. That sometimes fixes it.

I just came across your post from a Google search and thought I would post my solution. This literally happened to me today out of nowhere(never had a problem before) and it totally stumped and frustrated me to no end. I tried cache reset, factory reset, all that bulls**t and it didn't work.
This is how I finally got sync to work:
>>login into your Google account from a web browser eg: google.com, play.google.com, wherever
>>in the upper right corner go to where it shows your profile info, click on your picture, and click Account
>>on the next screen click Security
>>where it says Account Permissions click View All
>>you have 2 choices: you can revoke access on everything you see or just extra devices. Personally, I had 4 Droid DNA's and 4 Nexus 7's listed from where I've done factory resets or ROM installs and I had to reauthorize my Google account. All I did was revoke access for the ones that said "no activity in the past 60 days". Within seconds Google Play was already auto-updating apps on my phone, I couldn't believe it.
This may not work for you but it's how I got it to work. Good luck.
Google looks to be having issues today so I would bet that's the problem

Musickey Service?

Hi All
I subscribed to the 6 month trial of all access when I got my Nexus 6, Google play music works fine but I can't seem to get the YouTube musickey Service.
I dont have any background settings or anything within the app, does anyone know how to activate it?
Thanks
I had 2 "accounts" with YouTube (one Google account), one under my full name the other my email \alias. It was automatically put on the account of my actual name only. Kind of annoying but switching to the other one worked
