Do you have the drivers installed?
Tbolt meatclaws-talkatap
exact same boat here...Sprint Tab, Drivers installed(was able to screw it up now wasn't I?) If I plug into the Samsung charger, I get the screen pictured in the first post. The screen will stay on for around 10seconds, then turn off for about 20 seconds, then turn on for about 8 and off for 30...well you get the idea. It will only do this while connected to the Samsung charger. It will not go into download mode at all if it is not connected to the charger.
i think Dbeayon had explained exactly whats the problem in my Tab, any suggestion guys?
I just called Samsung, explained to them what I did (tried flashing a Rom). He said Samsung would reflash for me at no charge, if there is no physical or water damage. Since I cracked the case open and pulled the battery out, I am fully expecting to have to pay for the reflash. However if you have not cracked yours open or done anything else, the Samy should just reflash foryou. I will let everyone know what happens. I should have mine back within a week.
And I asked for a worst case scenario that I would have to pay and he said it would start at 70 + parts. Since I don't expect any parts, I am fully anticipating shelling out 70 for my stupidity.
thanks Dbeayon, i will take the Tab to the Samsung tomorrow and let u know the updates meanwhile if anyone has any idea how to unflash it before me taking it there it would be great
hi, i took my Samsung to the agent, and they have fixed it in couple of hours.
i guess u should do the same Dbeayon.
regards.
thanks all.
Are you close to a Samsung Repair Center? I do not have one close to me in NY, So I had to send to Texas.
My agent is 20 mins away from home

Hey guys,
I'm really starting to think that my Tab is well and truly uber bricked. I tried (stupidly) to update it to gingerbread stock forgetting the flooping fact that the P1010 differs hugely to the P1000.
It was so weird, I got no error messages from Odin everything looked like it was going well, until I tried to get the device into download mode again. It won't turn on, I can't access recovery or download mode. It does try to come on when doing button combos but just shows a black/blank screen and turns off again as soon as power button is released. No icons or logos.
Another thing is that when off it flashes the creen every 10-15 seconds. Not sure what to try as battery will be running low by now and scared to let it go flat.
Anybody else got this, I feel like a right twat, don't even wanna know how much samsung will charge for repairing this.
If anyone has any more button combos to try please feel free to tell. I'm pretty deperate.
Josh at MobileTechVideos has helped me out when in similar circumstances.

Actually, that's the call...just return it and play dumb.
I forget the part that it was just a couple days.
I disagree with that advice. I hate dishonest people.
Just tell them the truth and see if theyvreplace it. What's the worst that can happen? They don't send you a new one. You won't be any worse off than you are now. Its worth a try.

the best drama ever you can do
1- go and do not smile , chicken ..
2- be shocked all the time during you are talking and blame them
3- say , how come i sleep than i woke take out my tab from the charger i couldn't turn it on . is this can happen because of the ELEC ? ? Act like stupid ,
they will ask you did you try to update it via kies , say how i update ? ? ? after u say this , trust me , you'll get your tab in 3-5 work days
Wow, lots of dishonest people here. Use the de-bricking service, pay for YOUR mistakes, and chalk it up to a valuable lesson to read and pay attention to what you're doing in the future.
Just something i did when i thought my tab was bricked. I turned it on even though it wouldnt show anything on the screen. I then let the battery drain, next day I plugged it in and pwered it on, it worked.... is there any type of mode that you can get into?

This is what I'm saying. Contact the guy from above and see if he can help you. You may pay for it, but some mistakes cost you money. If that doesn't work for you, then you're out $350 because of a mistake you made. If paying $350 for a mistake you made is the worse you end up paying in line, you're better off than most.

you didn't 'forget'... you didn't know. just nitpicking
I also support the return-it route. once it's back at samsung they can easily re-flash it to their proper software and sell it as a refurb.
I made your mistake today and I got the errors you've gotten ..
what did you do with your device , have you find a solution for it ?
I did this years back on the very first phone I flashed, a Sony 750i which I was trying to flash to 800i software. It usually would have worked as its same hardware but unfortunatley for me they had recently changed bootloader or something that made mine incompatible.
Since it was only a couple of days old from Orange shop I simply took it back to shop and played dumb, said I left it charging over night and now all I get is a white screen. At first they wanted to sent it off for repair and I kicked off because I didnt want to pay all that money for a faulty/repaired product, I kicked up a bit of stink in front of other potential customers and manager decided to give me full replacement.
Now I know that isnt honest but I meh I dont give a sh1t, Its not as if they would have had to pay for it, it would have simply got back to manufacturer.
If you have a new device and dont want to shell out a load of money or wait weeks/months just take it back and play dumb and if they refuse ask to speak to manager and kick off.
I PM'd you the details mate.
Same mistake here
Hi!
I know this is an old post, but this just happened to me today.
Just like you, i flashed a P1000 ROM to my P1010 galaxy tab.
The process went perfectly with no errors nor warnings in ODIN. When it tried to reboot, a black screen came up. The symptoms are the same you had. Black screen, no image of any kind, no possibility to put it in download nor recovery mode.
When i press the power button for about 5 seconds, backlight coms up, but still a black screen. When i let the power button go, the backlight goes out and the screen keeps black.
Could you please tell me how you solved this?
Thank you VERY much!

Try the same thing (Power +Volume down 5 seconds), but plug your tab to your PC before doing it and see if ODIN can pick it up. If odin can pick up your tab, flash the right ROM.
I think if black screen and then buttons lights up briefly when you touch, you somehow need to force it down first.
Try holding power button for at least 10 seconds to bring it down completely.
when it then doesn't response to touch, then do what yappoe said.
Hope your battery hasn't been drained by now.
I already tried both of the solutions you propose. I really appreciate that.
The screen keeps black, but the lights of the buttons doesn't turn on. Not even briefly.
I followed a guide that says i should tape the power button to keep the backlight on the entire night until the battery drains, so i can get out from an infinite loop. Then to plug the tab in the wall charger and the battery logo shoud appear. Then try to turn it on in download mode.
I did all that. Battery drained out, but at the moment of plugging the tab at the wall, it does not show the battery indicator. Screen is still black. No backlight, no nothing.
Do you think a JIG could work? any other ideas? it's kind of dead!
Sorry for my english and thanks again.
I don't know.. but you should assume it is still charging. Leave it for more than 4hr charging then try yappoe suggestion.
If all fails, then repair.
Next time only flash rom made for your device...

I fear for my note!!
When it booted yesterday it wouldn't go past the Galaxy Note GT-N7000 screen. I took the battery out and tried it a few times, same problem.
I eventually managed to get into recovery. I could navigate around but whenever I tried to do anything I seemed to get errors or be unable to access files. I tried reflashing the ROM (Cassies extralite v6) and it started but locked up.
I now can't get any response whatsoever from the phone. No display at all. I've tried a spare fully charged battery, I've tried plugging it in, nothing.
Is there hope? where should I go from here?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tim.
Try connecting your charger(though you have a fully charged battery) and see if the display lights up.If it does try to get into DL mode and flash a rom
IF it doesnt light up try usb jig.It should probably get your phone into DL mode.If this also fails your last hope would a JTAG recovery
Thanks for the fast reply. I've tried plugging in the charger, still no response.
Can the usb jig work if I have no response at all from the phone. And could you link me to the JTAG recovery process for the note?

Jig is supposed to force your phone into DL mode when other methods fail. You can surely try it.AFAIK JTAG method involves disassembling your phone and it requires special hardware to establish communication with your phone and computer. It aslo requires soldering skills.
Now don get stressed on reading it.First try the jig method it will and must help you.Lets hope for best results.
I bought a jig on ebay (I know I could make one, but they're only $3 and I'll know its right). Can anyone confirm whether there is any possibility they jig can get my phone working if I am getting nothing at all from the phone as is. There is no sign of life, none at all. The fact that there are no LEDs means I can't even tell if its charging when plugged in.
Have many people had hardware failure on the note? Is it possible the ROMS corrupted and that has caused no response? Everywhere I google even bricked notes seem to have something come up on the screen.
Please help!
I had the same issue after updating my stock unrooted phone via Kies.. Phone died after samsung white letters and after that no lights no dl mode no recovery.. Didn't have a jig to try so I send it to service center they changed the board.. So if you can wait for the jig order it and try it out few bucks wasted if it don't work but I hope it will, but so GLÜCKLICHES mate

Or am I better to try somewhere like the mobile tech video sites jtag brick repair service? (I'm not allowed to link to it)

hello everybody!! I have a GT-N7000 with stock rom and 3 days ago it has become completely dead! there was 50% in the battery, so after 10 minutes i came and found it turned off so i tried to turn it on and it turned on but it froze at the samsung logo screen and tried rebooting 3 times but it didn't work. and now its completely dead it acts like its water damaged but it isn't. So after all that I went to Montreal GSM for a fix but they diagnosed the problem to be water damage so I told them okay fix it, and when i came to get my phone back he told me that this wasn't the problem! so now i have my phone with me and dunno what to do with it!could it be the mother board?and if its the mother does anyone know how much does it cost to replace it in samsung service center in montreal? Thank you guys!!!
yeah and two more things I tried another battery but nothing worked
and there was a screen showing up during rebooting and something strange was written on it " some custom roms might fail the system" somthing like that. i'm not sure cuz it only showed up for 2 sec.
thank u again
Motherboard is pretty expensive. No download mode also? Make sure there is a charged battery. Remove the battery and reinsert it. Press volume down + home + power. Anything at all?

I was pleased to get the update, it asked that I get the charge up to 40% plus which I did and left it plugged in and proceeded. Took quite a while and then went to battery charge instead of reboot as has happened in the past.,, I did hit the power switch and it turned off, now nothing no charge indicator and no matter how long I hold the power switch nothing.. And other tips to wake this puppy up? I originally got it at Google IO.. Wonder if Google will help?

I doubt that Google will be able to help you. Also, since its being about a year now, your watch probably doesn't have a warranty from Samsung anymore. Might still worth a try though.
See if your watch is detected by pc. I remember my watch had a glitch once. It wasn't booting up and was showing up as a device in device manager. I forgot the exact name, but it was not something you usually see when you connect in fastboot or adb mode. If it does then there might still be hope.
Try to boot your watch into fastboot mode. You need to press the power button and slide with your finger on the screen from left top corner to right bottom corner. Just slide it multiple times while holding the button. If it boots then you can either do factory reset or full reflash.
Thanks for the tips, Samsung seemed quite accommodating and gave me a return ship label,, we shall see, hoping for the best and not outrageous... Xing fingers...

If they do end up "repairing" it, you will get a brand new watch. Samsung doesn't bother re-flashing or repairing old watches, they just send you a new one. Don't include your wristband though. You'll get your old one back... unless they lose it.

Must be different in your country. Here is the instructions they sent me when I was sending my watch for repairs.
Shipping Guide Line
(1) Verify above information is correct
i.e: Name, Shipping Address, Model number and Serial number etc
(2) DO NOT INCLUDE ANY ACCESSORIES. (Cables, Remote control, manuals, Battery, Drivers, toner cartridge, imaging unit, transfer belt, waste toner bin etc), unless otherwise instructed.
(3)
a) Package Properly, this is the responsibility of sender
b) Include copy of this authorization in the package.
(4) Arrange shipping with UPS courier (United Parcel Service)
a) Attach UPS waybill on outside of the package.
b) write down UPS tracking number for your records

I guess it falls under "unless otherwise instructed" He was quite specific.. !!I did get the same printed instructions though...
As predicted Samsung sent an invoice for $188 to "repair" obviously not worth it with the new stuff coming out and particularly insulting since the OTC SW update caused it... Does not make me happy with Samsung to say the least...
I purchased mine from Amazon and in 6 months it was dead. Samsung would not warranty it in the USA because they told me that they didnt know where amazon bought it from and therefore wanted me to find out what country it came from and then they woudl give me that country customer service #. COMPLETE BULLcrap. amazon ended up giving me a refund.
Hi All.
Battery stuck on 50% won't change even when charge or discharge. Today it randomly shutdown in my pocket. and then had a battery symbol with a ?. The phone eventually turned on, I've tried turning off location, rebooting still having issues. Sometimes the battery saving mode stops working, i.e. it cannot be turned on. As I can see the problem concerns a large group of users and nobody knows what this problem is related to. Google is silent as usual. Is this a problem with the software or components ?! I am in a bad situation because I have no warranty for the device and I do not know where to send the phone in Poland because no one knows what is the cause of the problem. Help me please.

Had this.
This is going to sound dumb:
Shut your phone off.
Now squeeze the phone around the G logo on the back (like you're trying to compress it).
Now turn it back on and charge normally.
This is potentially only a temporary fix as I have no idea how this would be software related.
If you can enter bootloader mode, you still have chance to save your phone by yourself :
(1)Make sure there is fastboot&ADB tool in your computer
If you don't have it, please download from here(https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools). To click the one depends on which one of OS you have and then install in your computer
(2)Download google factory image file from here(https://developers.google.com/android/images). To choose the model of your phone and download it then extract file.
(3)Reboot your phone to bootloader mode. Then use USB cable and make phone connected to your computer USB port. Then execute the window commend mode. key in
fastboot devices ===> make sure your phone being catched by your computer
flash-all ===> To build up a whole new pixel OS in your phone.
Good luck !

Ive had my pixel 4 xl since november and it just started automatically shutting off when in my pocket all by it self a few weeks ago , took cell phone to my sevice provider and they sent it in for repair ...received a new phone ...well refurbished p4 xl only to have if start happening again days later and have the 50% battery start happening also ....contacted google and they are in the process of sending me a new refurbished p4 xl , so this will be my 3 rd p4 xl ..lol
very frustrating to say the least ....ive had to hard reboot my phone at least 20 times a day or basically keep it out of any pockets , the is common issue apparently with pixels phones from what i've read in the link https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/22397169?hl=en
I've talked with loyalty department at my service provider and if it happens again with the pixel that google sends me , then they will allow me to void my contract and supply me with a new device from a different brand ...ie Samsung or apple or whatever else is available on the market right now on there website.
i'll be really bummed if i have to switch to a samsung or apple buuuuuut need a stable device ...lol
So to anyone having this issue that still has a basic warranty, there are at least 2 options ...rma device over and over till you get one that doesn't have this problem or contact service provider and explain your situation and most likely they will be understanding to the fact that you have purchased a 1200.00 phone that requires constant rma's and hopefully allow you to exchange for a different brand of phone that doesn't have this these problems

I fully understand you. I am in a worse position. As a loyal Google fan, I bought my pixel from someone who didn't have a proof of purchase. In Poland it was difficult to get it, and as it was 1.5 times more expensive than everywhere else. It seems that I can throw out the pixel and buy another phone for a lot of money. I am most annoyed by the company's attitude. It looks like they are xxxxx on us.

This is the "No Warranty Solution" : Flash a full factory image and allow it to completely wipe your phone. This is the second step Google support would give you (the first is doing a factory data reset from Recovery). If after flashing your phone, restoring it to the original "out of the box" state, you still have a battery issue, then the next step is to replace your battery. If you forgot to state in your OP that your bootloader is still locked (so you can't flash the image) then you need to do that first. Bottom line is you need to factory reset the phone to rule out a software issue. If the restored phone still has the same problem, then you need to focus on the hardware. Best of luck. :good:
Yes, it does !

Same happened to me with 4 XL 64.
I've been able to "fix" with the turn off and squeeze but the problem has turned into the battery discharge displayed gets stuck at a percentage and it won't charge. I have to turn off & squeeze to get it back.
Finally called Google and they are making me send my phone in for repair. Now I assume for turnaround sake, they'll just send me a new refurb back. That also means I'm not confident the problem will be resolved as there are over 150 replies on the Google Support page identifying this problem.

Looks like some folks are getting a replacement before sending the problem phone back but others are required to send it in or drop off at repair facility.
Good for me? I have Preferred Care and I'll keep sending them back until I get one that works.
Bad for me? I'll have to keep sending them back + I splurged on the orange color so I doubt I'll ever see that again.
I've actually dealt with this. This is a hardware issue. I had the same problem. Covered by warranty, I took it to ubreakitifix after contacting Google and they took care of me. Trust me this isn't a issue where you can flash this or squeeze that. This is a hardware issue on Google's part. There's nothing you can do as a phone user about a defective battery in a 6+ month old $1000 phone

You might be able to convince them to send you a device before you ship it off, citing the current global situation and a need for a cell phone
OP lives in Poland and has no receipts or warranty. Poland is not a supported country so he is looking for "non-warranty" solutions.

The return process was pretty great. I shipped my existing phone off on a Monday (Illinois to Texas) and by the following Monday, I received my exact phone back (has a screen protector on it). I was very satisfied with that. HOWEVER, the "repair" still has an issue where if I charge to 100%, the icon stays at 100% until I reboot and then it'll display the correct battery %.
The repair documentation was a bit vague and said they replaced the "charging port". I still believe there's a unannounced hardware issue. Can anyone say, class action????

I wonder what the next step would be if I started another repair claim?
Holding the power button down for more than 3 consecutive seemed to solve a similar issue for me. My P4 was holding certain percentages for too long (even though the phone actually lost more).

This post seems to have been ignored. If it happens to me, I'll try that. But my carrier purchase didn't qualify for Google extended care add-on. Standard warranty only. Does that make a difference in what Google would do in this case?
I use Accubattery and monitor charge cycles for "battery wear". Even following "Battery College" recommendations, battery health has dropped from 99 to 95%; I've had the P4XL since November. I'm now slowing the charge, getting away from power delivery to see if that helps slow the wear. SOT varies greatly per charge.
I use a belt pouch for carrying phone while away from home. Rarely, I put it in my pocket but do so at home- front pocket only- never back pocket. May just be bad phone batteries from what I've read.

For 5 weeks my Pixel has been in the authorized repair center in Germany. They don't have parts to fix it. They told me that. It is not known how long this may take. I haven't had such a circus with a good smartphone. I love Google products, but I feel very disappointed because Pixel cost me a lot of money and this is definitely a factory defect.

Sorry to hear this, and surprising, as Germany is a supported country with many authorized repair centers. Did you send it to PSC? They claim to be Google-certified and have all factory parts? COVID-19 may also be delaying things. Hope things turn out well for you. :good:
