Hey, i am currently on Galnet's Miui v2 and i have been on Miui ever since MCG v1. My problem is even though these were all great roms that my compass seems to be not working. I installed the Compass App from the market and North is everywhere expect in the North
I am aware that the changelog of Galnet Miui v2 indicates that the compass and accelerometer should be working flawlessly but mine seems to be defect.
Has anybody an idea how to fix this?
I have the same problem with CM7 on which is MIUI based. I tried to calibrate it few times, but it didn't helped, so i think it's a bug in CM7.
Hi!
I have installed Galnet MIUI v2 rom and have the same problem with compass. And my GPS can't find my precise position, the accuracy is about 1500-2000m. I'm from Europe and does anebody knows what kind of modey is used in this rom. If it's not european, then how can i swith to one. Btw, does anybody knowswhere can i get google maps?
Tnx!
Google maps? On the market if u don't have it, then you'll have to flash gapps.

And you can find more modems here. They should work for miui too. I'm from europe too and i'm using the cyanogenmod default - jv9. Just flash them in cwm... Try more modems and you'll see which works better for you. And to know what modem u r using: go to settings -> about phone and look at baseband version.

I've found .zip file with gapps? but it must be installed throug Recovery vode, is there any way to install them like normal apps, i just don't want to mess things up. And i just need the goole maps and Locator, is it possile to install only them without the rest? Could you tell me about the modem, should i install the jvp or jvo if i'm in europe, or the default one is fine. If i go everything right, then the modem should be installde through CWR?
Gapps:
You have to install it through recovery mode, it shouldn't mess anyting up, but if you are scared, you can still do a nandroid backup. Install this one. If you don't want to install all, you can try playing with the zip, but i won't recommend you to do so or you can try to delete the apks from /system/app. But SGS has enough space for apps, so there's no reason why to do that. I thing you also need Market...not only google maps and locator...at least for installing google maps and locator .
Just flash the zip though CWM and install desired apps from market...
Modem:
I'm from Europe too and i use cm default - jv9. Try more modems and compare signal, battery life, etc... Then use the one which worked best for you and post it here for others . And yes, flash it from CWM as usual.

This seems as it's a network provided location, not the gps one. Is your gps indicator (in status bar...) blinking? If so, wait 'till it stops blinking and then you'll have gps provided location... This can take few minutes
Thank you, that relly helped a lot! I guess i'm going to stik to jvk for a couple of days to see how it works. I'm using galnets miui v2, it has market app and gmail, that's why i was askig about installing gapps separately, though they could cause issues. Going to give it a try. Tnx again!
So you don't need to flash gapps, just install desired apps from market...And if i helped a lot, you can hit my thx button
I know that, but they aren't shown in the market.
To get back on topic here, has anyone gotten the compass to work? I don't get a compass reading at all. I have tried re-flashing the JVP modem, the compass still doesn't give a reading.

Got it, found this googl app in the web. After installation icons maps latitude, laces, and navigation apperared. Exept navigation(for some reason it stuks on navigation avaliability check) everything works fine. But my GPS still can't fund me precise position, it jumps for one place to anotheraround the place where i am. Should i flash another modem? Maybe you couls adviseme how to fix this.
Tnx.
I would try different modems (flash in CWM).

I'm wondering why GPS didn't work for me never on custom roms which had GPS "fixed"? I've been using Floyo 2.2 version stable rom for some time on my X8 and it supported GPS but it didn't worked for me never, just didn't pick the signal even on gps tests, now I'm using latest the new CM7.1.0 STABLE FXP027 with unlocked boot loader and latest kernel and it's says that GPS is roking but it didn't work for me eighter not showing sattelites not picking signal. On stock 2.1 android it worked flawlesly so I doubt it's hardware problem. I also done factory cleaning when I flashed roms/kernels. So here I'm asking what can I do to make it work, where I should start first?
Thanks in advance!
Try "faster fix" app from Market to fix

This app just a tool for GPS test. you can track how many GPS satellites are available to lock your GPS Signal.
I'm really note sure how even to describe the problem
since I rooted my device and start flashing custom roms, my GPS not working probably.
sometimes when I turn it on it starts working then disconnecting - reconnecting again
sometimes it will not be able to connect at all
and sometimes it's working like charm!, I'm really confused
, I tried fix-GPS app in the market.. same nothing changed
and yes.. i tried it alot with many different roms and ofc under clear view of sky with route66 and sygic. my current rom is rooted stock la6 supertweeked.
anything you advise to do?
my current location is Saudi Arabia.

are u sure that there are all properly working tweaks?
Can you try to use original kernels and roms and check GPS?
Are u trying use GPS module at home? there are a lot of factors which can reduce GPS module.
I tried it with many different roms like rocket and criskelo.
currently using this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416192
with abyss kernel 4 and as you see in the picture it keeps looking like this without any result sometimes and sometimes there will be few sats but connection will not be continuing
and I tried to connect the GPS in many different locations outdoor In my car..
is it possible to flash a stock kernel and keeping root with cwm in the device?
and from where I can download that?
I'm just wondering is it possible that because of la6 is not the proper rom for my region the GPS won't work probably and how to fix that?

Im using Rocket with Abbyss, it seems to be OK..in Russia i mean.
u can use rooted kernel without any customizations.
Im sorry but i can give u more information between regions differencies. Try to use original rom with original kernel and phone options for ur location(region). And check if it helps. if so, try to use customized tools for ur region.
Go to the chainfire kernel thread in the note development section. There are all the samsung galaxy note kernel versions, added with root and clockworkmod. Thats what u need to flash whatever you like.

Hello there, i have installed TAJB Rom and it's great. Before and after flashing rom, i did factory reset and wipe cache. I have installed this rom over cyanogenmod 9. There was no signal problem on cm9 but in jb it's very poor. I can't get a good wireless signal even if i'm close to router. And gsm signal is the same. It was 3 bars in my room before flashing. Now its only one bar. What might be the problem? Which modem should i flash? I live in Turkey
Try using the suggested modem for Jelly Bean which is KF1. I'm from the Philippines and I had no issues with the signal even if the modem is for AT&T US/Canada. Currently, I'm testing KJ1.
Just experiment.
