I flashed I9000 and now I cannot boot to stock recovery to apply the update.zip. Any ideas? Holding voule up and down then holding power dies not work... just switches back and forth between the samsung and ATT boot logos.
you can find two apps in the market that will help. Terminal Emulator, intall, open, grant su permisions and then type su >enter< reboot recovery. Or another app even easier, Quick Boot only three options with this click on Recovery.
The recovery mode won't work unless you have the correct kernel anyway.
First get the one-click odin stock flasher then get into download mode by holding the down volume button, the home key, and then press power (so you're holding all at the same time). It should put you right into download mode.

Was Recovering a Rom backup from Rom Manager and It is stuck at the android system recovery screen and won't let me select any options using the power button. I can go up and down using the volume buttons.

You can always go back to stock, re-root, install CWM, and try restoring again if you are still having trouble. Use Odin:

Ok, I also rooted and installed eSPyel's Paragon ROM and everything is great. However, when I go into CWM and boot into recovery, I get the same issue--it goes to the Samsung Recover <e3> screen (with purple text) and tries installing something but states it failed. I then can move up and down the menus with the Vol Up/Vol Dn buttons but pressing power does nothing. If I remove and then reinsert the battery, it takes me to CWM recovery screen where I can install new ROMs, etc. It goes this every time I try to boot into recovery. Does anyone know a fix or do I just need to Odin back to stock and try again?
When we restart the phone, we keep continues press the back key it will appear the Xrecovery mode, for the clockwork recovery how to enter in that mode?
Is it the only way to enter the clockwork recovery mode by press the power button and switch to reboot and choose clockwork recovery mode?
Insted of pressing back button start tapping at screen

I don't know how the issue started. I have been using CM10 for almost 2 months without issues. I restarted the phone and boom! It was stuck in a bootloop with that boot animation keeping appearing all the time. I tried a factory reset, flashing the ROM again, flashing another ROM, and even flashing the stock ROM with all the images using ODIN. It was still stuck on the boot animation. I was surprised that the last solution didn't work because everytime I did it, the phone recovered from the bootloop.
I can still enter into download and recovery mode.

Samsung GT-I9000 boot into recovery mode after pressing the power button
Not sure it is the same problem or not, but my phone (Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000) keeps booting into recovery mode everytime I turn on the phone by pressing the power button. I tried to root with the stock PIT file and stock ROM or CWM recovery and stock ROM or any customized ROM, such as CMD 10.1, but it still boots into the recovery mode every time I turn on the phone WITHOUT using any combo keys, e.g. VOL down, Home and Power buttons).
The thing is that the recovery mode is not looping. Basically, after I press just the POWER button, the phone boots into the recovery mode and stay there.
Please help!
Many thanks!!!

Hey you are gonna want to flash a stock image using odin which will solve your problem. There should be a guide somewhere
My problem is solved, I had to go to "Mounts and storage" in recovery and choose "format /cache"

What you have to do is to flash the boot loader, I had the same exact problem and this solved it. But our devices are different so I don't think my boot loader will work on yours.

Thanks. Let me try that. Will keep you updated. Do you know where I can get the boot loader?
Hi everybody,
I have a BIG problem: today I've try to install REMICS-JB 3.0.1 rom, but unfortunately my phone starts with the logo "SEMAPHORE" and I can't enter in recovery menu by pressing the home, vol up and power buttons. I can't enter in download mode too (home, vol down. power), cause the logo remains on the screen. any ideas on how to solve this problem?
thanks.
Pull te batter and reinsert it, then try to enter recovery again. Try full wiping then reinstalling.
