Stock Incredible - Battery? - Droid Incredible Android Development

Came from a highly modded EVO on Sprint to the Incredible on VZW. Now I'm looking to find a ROM that will help with this horrible battery life.
Suggestions?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

CM7 with the latest tiamat kernel and vipers voltage scripts work well.
You should also invest in a sedio extended battery.. I've been looking at 2+ days of use without a charge

Will do, thx!

Rom-CM 7.0.3
Kernel- Tiamat 4.0.3
I use my phone quite a bit being in the IT field and I can usually get about 28 hours off a full charge. All the nightlies I've used have been roughly the same but figured I shoot you the stable first to try out.
Edit: lol took to long to type looks like jrk beat me.

If you head over to the Droid Incredible Accessories Forum, there is a lot of discussion about extended batteries and their effectiveness.
Otherwise, Pick a stable rom like Skyraider Sense 4.0 or Athena 1.2 (along with many other ROMs), get SetCPU and set a profile to reduce cpu usage while the screen is off

I'm having good luck with the stock software just I replaced the kernel with chads incredikernel and I must say wow huge difference. My stock battery will last all day and then some and my extended seidio 3500mah will run almost 3 days..
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

If you want to keep the sense interface, Skyraider is working great on my wife's dinc. If the vanilla android interface is cool, then CM7 is certainly the way to go. Also I'm getting noticeable improvement using the 1900mAH bat that fits in the stock case. Though I am still testing.

what profiles do you make in SetCPU? I tried it out while using Nils Business Gingersense, but it seemed to be killing my battery more than saving...

Using incredikernel I don't set any profiles as the "smartass" governor in the kernel handles sleep on its own

Agreed. Looks fugly. Plus, The ext battery isn't even necessary once you have a good kernal. unless you are gonna be away from electricity for 2-3 days on the reg, skip it.
Sent from my Ultimate 2.3.3 Incredible

As far as batteries.. .Don't forget about the stock EVO battery. 1500mah and fits behind the stock cover. Doesn't sound like much but it was a good 20% increase for me.
Also it's only $7

I've been a devout LG fan... VX6000, VX9800, VX10000 until I got my DInc. Never had issues with LG, but their Android offerings suck on VzW. Now I've got huge respect for HTC, and a strong but dormant love for LG.
As far as battery life... try stuff out. Every phone reacts differently with different kernels and ROMs, not to mention the fact that batteries and hardware - although semi-standard in manufacturing - can have variances at the microscopic level. Trial and error is your best bet. I do about the same with any AOSP kernel and CM7 nightlies... though some run smoother than others.
Tapatalk Pro Sig. Yep, boring.

MIUI beats CM7 hands down on battery life with incredikernel..

Agreed, I think OP should take a look here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmvCpR45LKA
and I guess, to help answer the question.
Top ROM choices:
1) SkyRaider - if you like Sense UI and stock, this is a very popular choice
2) CM7 - If you like to have all the latest and best from Android OS, if you like extra features- this is for you. Quite stable, though some nightlies may have bugs, usually fixed quickly.
3) MIUI - Unique expirence, some compare it to the iPhone. Really though, it's a very nice UI with many great looking skins to get with it.
Top Kernel choices:
If you're using a sense ROM like Skyraider, make sure your using a sense kernel.
1) Chad's incerikernel - he has different versions for Sense and AOSP, both are really great on battery with still nice performance and stability.
2) Tiamat's kernel

EVO Shift 4g 2000mAh extended (slim) battery

I recently ordered the 2000mAh slim battery for my HTC Evo Shift by Galilio. I did a little bit of research and people with different phones (Rhodium, Hero, Supersonic) were saying that they noticed a little bit of a difference between their battery life after using this battery(could just be a placebo affect, who knows?). It advertises as 2000mAh but I know it probably won't be the full 2000mAh. I'm assuming that it's probably just a little bit more than 1500mAh. I just fully charged it and I'm going to see how long is lasts me.

I'm at 29% so far and this is what my battery use says on CM7 RC. I'm also using Scary Kernel with the Scary profile with my max clock speed set to 1.5GHz. This is with moderately heavy usage and a little over 2 hours of talk time. I notice a significant difference overall.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
So you've noticed a significant increase in charge time then? Making it worth the $25 or w/e it ends up being.
I think it was worth it.
I didn't look at the up time on that. That's some good battery life for not having the super extended $90 one.
Any chance you can test it on a sense rom. I wonder if it would perform even better on a sense rom since cm7 has that phone-signal problem that drains the battery a bit.
i dont need a signature
Yeah its pretty good especially with my heavy usage. I figure I could have gotten an extra 12 hours on it but I get nervous everytime my battery life dips below 30%.

I am considering buying this but just had one question. Is it safe to put in a 2000mAh bat vs the stock 1400 one?
I figured it was just a larger capacity so it wouldn't have any problems but I was just curious because I'm not familar at all with this sort of question.

in theory, putting a higher capacity battery shouldn't be a problem. what you have to worry about is the quality of the battery itself.

Totally different phone but it uses the same battery, as does the HTC Hero. It seems that HTC likes to use the same battery for most of their phones, someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but it seems that way to me.
I ordered 2 of these myself, one for mine and one for my wife's Shift, so hopefully they work great. Better life has been great as it is, but a little more is not a bad idea.

1600mAh - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0052QSTYQ/ref=redir_mdp_mobile
Seem cheap and based on the reviews, they seem to work really well!

I have the 1600mAh one, I bought a pair on ebay for $16 US back in Oct or so.
I started using it in the Desire Z and it's also compatible with the Incredible S so I put it in there too.
I've only been using my Incredible S on ICS builds / Virtuous Quattro so I can't comment on battery life really so far.. but on my Desire Z I saw a boost to battery life from ~1300mAh stock HTC battery, I got around 20-24 hours. With this, I get around 30+ hours days with medium-light use on CM7-based roms.
With Virtuous roms I got like 10% less battery (due to Sense)
Nice! Thanks for sharing! So you recommend them?

For $8 a battery and +4-6 hours depending on your use, yes I'd say its definitely a steal. You don't have to shell out $30+ US for the extended version.
I have used it great for 3.5 months. It may be cheaper if you can did it on eBay. Anker's eBay name is laptopmate-USA.
These anker batteries seem high quality types, not the junk china stuff that can softbrick phones. I had that experience on my G1.
Edit make sure it is the white anker. I wouldn't trust anyone else other than HTC!
I appreciate your explanation, thanks!
But what do you mean as white ones only?
I was looking to get a black one, as it would suit my Desire S better.

It is this one I have (old pictures, was trying to get ot sold in xda market)
I think all the ankers are white!
PS. I can finally give an opinion on the battery life in the incredible S. I am on second day in virtuous quattro ICS RC2 and currently with 1 day 1 hr with 24% remaining.
Hope that helps!

So does it feels better than original 1450mAh battery? Im looking for spare right now...
Just ordered the 1600mah one and will report back on it if you want.
oh yeah, forgot to respond back to this thread. Using the 1600mAh anker:
I got about ~20-24 hours on Virtuous Quattro RC3 using light/medium usage, charge is once a day.
With CM7, I get about 30-35 hours with medium/light usage including idling. I could do 40 hours easily if I don't use the phone very much except for very light calls or texting.
-I drain about 2-3% for 8 hours of pure idling (while sleeping).
-I get around -18mAh drain the lowest according to Battery widget.

Is this a notable risk with these aftermarket batteries? Can anyone comment on the likelihood of this occurring with the Anker batteries, or is it a case of 'if it works fine for a few cycles it's not going to softbrick my phone'.
Cant help but feel wary with a product so cheap! Why wouldn't HTC make their batteries to this standard I wonder.

Well I don't think there is a risk of the battery soft bricking your phone however I think that these batteries are made from a cheaper material because even though they have bigger capacity they don't last any longer

Rolling another green android as we speak.
I am definitely addicted to Android since discovering MIUI.us 2.2.3. Take the best features of IOS, add to it the best features of Android, throw in a liberal dose of nuance, style and flair and you have the perfect ROM.
I never thought i'd be saying this but it really is an order of magnitude better than Cyanogenmod. The infamous Android lag is all but gone! The N1 touchscreen wonks..gone! It's like i died and woke up in smartphone heaven. Most of the apps i used to use i don't need any more. Decent File Browser? Check. Decent Browser? Check. Decent SMS/Dialer/Alarm? Check!
What i don't need in a ROM are a hundred features that i have to turn off because i don't use them. What i do need in a ROM are core features that just work well. Consider me converted!
I seriously wouldn't trade my two year old phone for anything on the market right now, not even if it were free. Not a chance!
Wich phone you own?

I'm hooked on IceCremeSandwich's with no-sense!
pure curiosity
first, i have the android phone, then switch to iOS then at now, android again feeling to be more comfy with android (though iOS still rocks on perf and display)
but guess, loving now android coz to put my dev-inside
MIUI.us is working out so well for me. I have apps that never worked well on CM7 that are working perfectly now. The famous N1 touchscreen wonk has disappeared completely, (which is a miracle in itself), and not only are the stock apps better than AOSP, (Gallery, you know i'm talking about you), but they're better than the usual replacements. (Sorry, Quickpic).
A big plus is a beautiful U.I that is consistent throughout the software and on par with IOS. It's like somebody read my mind and made a bespoke ROM for me! It's all the little touches too. The nice animations, the way the music fades out when you pause it, (not to mention Lyrics support and a pretty visualisation), options for re-ordering Bookmarks in the Browser, a good Notes app, in built backup for apps, system and theme. It's incredibly fast and smooth too. Without the OC i had in CM7 it actually performs better!
Pics for the uninitiated:
How about a stock Data usage app, or a Firewall:
How good is that?
I love my android phone...
Still my first (galaxy mini), but i hope my next one will be better...

Gingerbread roms vs ics releases

Hi all
Question I have for the ics testers among us.
In your opinion do the variety of ics builds available (team rocket etc) warrent a change from a gingerbread rom? The thing of most concern to me is the underclock to 1.2. As I run at 1.6, are the coding optimisations in the ics builds enough to justify a loss in clock speed (until a kernel is made taking advantage of the notes full clock)?
I tried the initial release which was leaked and didn't like it - unstable. But as the various teams are rectifying stability, its more the speed that concerns me. Hate the thought of having a device underclocked!

That should be the least of your concerns, IMO. I have tried all ICS releases, and had lots of other issues, like FCs, partial root, some of the settings features (brightness and sound) freezing up the phone, and the biggest of them all - malfunctioning CWM Recovery.
You can do as you like, but I'm staying away from ICS until the next, more stable release emerges.
Edited: I forgot, there's also good old ICS SOD (sleep of death).
Well its just that the rocket team appear to be releasing stability updates almost daily so was more wondering about speed. I had a nightmare when flashing the original leak!

speed is fine imho, but I lost root which really bothered me
I would wait a couple weeks myself.

Frankly I'm very happy with team rockets 1.4. The only issues are small ones which have already been fixed for 1.5.
Regarding the underclocked CPU, ics at 1.2 GHz is smoother and faster for me compared to any GB ROM at 1.4 GHz. Scrolling is smoother and gaming performance too has noticeably improved. The only difference you might see is in benchmarks which don't mean anything IMO anyway.

[Q] looking for stable and battery friendly rom

hey guys,
So I got this phone and as I'm not a fan of the sense 5.0 I installed the GE from this topic here

I noticed that the battery was really really bad in this rom.
I was just wondering what is a good stable rom that is battery friendly. I'm not really a gamer so i don't need to worry about maxing out my specs.
Also I understand that there is no best rom I am just looking for the views of other people.
And a recommendation in kernel would be nice too.

One more vote for ARHD, really awesome battery life. Currently I'm running TrickDroid 8.0 and overnight I lost 11% while on ARHD it was 2% only. Plus, on TD8 I feel some nasty scrolling lag.
You realise that this thread will just end up a long list of different rom/kernel combinations? Which emphasises the fact that different people will recommend different combinations depending on their usage. Also my phone shuts down on random and I have to hold volume down and power to reboot doesn't even go to bootloader. So I ran a ruu and now on complete stock to see if the issue goes away. I was also s off with revone I reverted back to s on before the ruu though I'm wondering is the shutting down have to do with me not charging and damaging the battery, the s off, or hardware. I'm hoping it was just a bad root so I dont have to swap phones anyone have any ideas?

I think we all understand it's best to find out for your self what the BEST ROM/KERNEL is. I think that some of of just like to see what everybody is using and how it is working for them in real world. I hate how alot of people in these threads are so reluctant to give out any info on what they are personally using.
