Update 2.3.3 for rooted tab - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I,m using the Malaysia version p1000 tab.
If I rooted my phone, can I still can update once the gingerbread 2.3.3 release for Malaysia?
Will rooted block my update?
Please give some advise.

being rooted will not block you from updating to official 2.3.3.
base from my experience every time i flashed firmware to my tab i get unrooted.
but if upgrading through a Samsung Service Center, it would be better to unroot first before going through with the update.

thanks for your advise.

It's a rooted version of the Modaco custom rom.
I am guessing that I will encounter problems if I try to use Kies. I am in Ireland so the UK firmwares would apply to me.

EA24 is 2.2 isn't it?
Yes, but you want it to be working again don't you... This will get you up and running again so you can then try to upgrade to 2.3.3 again. You might need to check your bootloaders aren't locked though. Not sure as I don't have a CDMA tab.
I put thw stock.rom back on and unrooted my tab and it updated ota to 2.3 gingerbread ..

cant update please help

hi sold my galaxy s [had new gs2] sold with custom rom [blockbuster] but the gents daughter wants a stock 2.3.3 on it,he has used EZBASE but when he connects to kies it states can not be updated, how can he get a stock rom on it desperate now cheers
He has to flssh a stock-ROM (any Froyo-version) first and then it is possible to update with Kies. Or he can flash the official Gingerbread-version with Odin too.

Hi if you want the latest version of Android, the Nexus S always gets it first via OTA updates
Yes, the nexus s always gets the updates first. Easy updated over air.
Latest official is 2.3.4 jvq for i9000, updated by samsung kies.
