help a noob fast - LG Optimus 2x

okay ive done the superoneclick thing, im now rooted. Ive installed the ROM manager and installed the ClockworkMod Recovery. What do I do next?
Do i have to make a nandroid backup?
Ive downloaded a ROM i want to use, but have problems with wiping the phone. How do I do this?
so basically
1. how to nandroid backup
2. how to wipe full
3. how to install my rom, fr17 vanilla kitchen unsigned
hope for easy help thanks

just reboot into recovery, either via rom manager or shut off and then hold pwr+vol.up untill you get into recovery..the rest you will understand, just read dont forget the rom zip has to be on external sd not internal, good luck!

yea then im ****ed, i dont have any other sd card than the internal...

then it not possible to flash anything

what if i borrow one from a friend? Can i put the rom on there, install it to my internal, and then use the phone all good? if yes, where do i put the rom on the sd card? it is a winrar, and in there it is one iso file, and 3 folders.

sure you can do that, put the zip file wherever you want and can find it
do not touch the zip file dont unzip or anything, just leave it as it is..

okay nice thanks Do I just use ROM manager to install it and then browse to it? Also I had a sd card thing from an old sony ericson, but it was just a little to big:/ what exactly does the optimus 2x use? Micro sd card?

yes you can install with rom manager but i preffere to bootin with pwr+vol.up no risk at all. and yes most phones today use micro sd

Is the rom manager's cwm capable of flashing all the custom rom for the lg o2x? Can i use it on mcr and cm7 for example? TIA

yes it works for all roms

Ah okay.

[Q] root/rom question

now I realize I'll prolly get the lynch mob soon after i post this... being that all the research is over in the dev section, but my question is fairly complicated and i cant seem to find a direct answer from my own reading.
now i have root on my NC and i would love to put a custom recovery/rom on my NC. could any one point me in the right direction to get me started loading a custom recovery? i dont want to run froyo off of an SD card i would love to have it just be a giant version of my phone(I'm sorry if that's asking to much)
i learned and pushed myself to do it a while back on my EVO 4g when i saw there was a rom with wimax capability's and that was my first time rooting anything. I do on the other hand work as a sprint instore service and repair tech. so all of this reading isnt completely lost on me.
and my second question. when i booted my nook back up after i let the battery die, all my setting and apps were gone. any one know anything about it?
thank you for any answer, and I'm very sorry about my spelling and grammar, i know it sucks >.<
i think my biggest confusion/hangup so far has been the custom recovery not sure if i have this right or not but. these are the steps (i think) i need to take.
1. aquire root. [check]
2.custom recovery.[?]
3.custom kernel.[?]
4. custom rom.[?]
So what you want to do is flash a custom rom? You would just download a CWM sd card image. Burn that image to your SD card. Then, grab the rom you want, such as nookie-froyo, or whatever. Copy that zip to the SD card.
Put the SD card into your nook, then reboot. It should boot into CWR and from there you can just flash the zip. The same thing with a custom kernel, just copy the zip onto your CWM sd card, reboot, and flash the zip.
I'm not sure if that is what you are asking, though.
I've actually figured it all out finally. is there any way to see what my CPU is running at?
The speed of your NC can be done by downloading 2 free apps in the market:
Linpack for Android
Quadrant Standard
The Linpack app will tell you how many MFLOPS (Millions of Floating Point Operations Per Second) and Quadrant will give you a score to benchmark for CPU, I/O, and graphics. They will also give you as a reference how you compare to other devices.

So I'm new to Nook. In fact it's still being shipped for the wife, lol. Little that she knows, it's getting nootered before it even gets in her hands.
I've rooted phones and flashed custom ROMs.
From what you're saying above, does CWM reside solely on the SD card? That's different than a mobile phone. So any time we need to install a custom ROM (even the first time), we'd have to boot using the SD Card that has CWM, right? Of course I'd have to root the nook first.
following should really go into a different thread:
So whats the best ROM? So many out there. I just want to be able to use all google apps and market (for kindle app).
Thanks in advance.

You can still install Clockwork from the market and it'll run of the NC without an SD card. I've done it. But for the installation of CM7 (something to do with EXT4? I don't even know what that means...) CWM on an SD was necessary.
On what the best ROM is. Well, looking in the general section subsection here it looks like a lot of people are on rooted stock 1.1. I tried Froyo and it was cool and all, but I missed having the full 8GB of storage on the nook. I haven't tried Honeycomb yet, so no idea on that one. I currently have CM7 nightly 8 on my NC and really like it. I may not have all the storage space still (they're working on it) but it's snappy and sleek.

(q) (neeed helppp!) please! :(

Hello, just wanted to discuss a quick issue im having with my Samsung Captivate.
So its been about a few weeks since ive been on Phoenix's latest rom (js8). Ive been having the urge to go on to a gingerbread rom so i clicked on to the installation steps on how to flash the latest Miui rom (1.5.6 RC8b) So i finished the first step which was step 4 (since 2.2 roms start out at step 4) On the second step after i finished formating everything and going to Flash Miui RC2.zip. I noticed i put the Miui RC2.zip and RC8b file on my External SD card and not my internal SD. I cant flash the Miui RC2.zip file because my phone wont locate it in the Install From Zip option. Im pretty much stuck in the Orange Clockwork Mod recovery now. The other thing that sucks is i cant mount my phone (usb wise) to try and move the files back into my internal SD so i can download the files to continue on to the next step. I really need help! seriously. Ive already tried moving the files in Android/ music folders/ data/ in my external SD card, but the phone wont recognize it in those folders. Really need help please! I dont want to stay in recovery forever!! :/
the DEV are isnt the place to ask for help!
use CWM
mounts and storage> mount USB
copy files from pc to X:/sdcard/ this time!!!!
flash it.
next time post QUESTIONS IN QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
next time post QUESTIONS IN QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Download Odin one click and go back to stock (2.1), then go back to the MIUI page and start at step one.
and what does
"Ive already tried moving the files in Android/ music folders/ data/ in my external SD card, but the phone wont recognize it in those folders."
have anthing to do with your problem?
music? huh
you are flashing a rom
roms can only be flashed from internal sd card.
from sdcard folder or below. not above
I'm just in big need of help, ill remember next time not too. If you didn't read it all, i said that i couldn't get it to work using mount storage/ mount usb. My computer isn't recognizing the device , and i have my Samsung drivers on my computer, so idk why its not working.
I was just saying to see if i could at least make it possible, and i found it out it couldnt. I cant get it back in my internal SD directory.
fuhhhhhhhhhh* i really have to go back to 2.1? i guess i have no choice :/
You could also set you phone to download mode and Odin whatever tom and kernel you like. Miui is still beta, I suggest you use either stock GB or the other custom ROM.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Thanks for the suggestions killer! to everyone else, i went back to mount usb/ like TR told me to do, i restarted my computer and plug it in usb and it worked, put files back and flashed, im on miui, thanks for the help and the suggestions!

[Q] Help in restoring SE W8 to stock

Anybody out there willing to help this noob right here?(that's me)
like title said i need help to restore W8 to stock rom. i followed this youtube video on how to change W8 eclair 2.1 to gingerxperia vr.23 at first it was ok but then as i used the phone i experienced lots of bugs and errors... camera malfunction, calendar bugs, messages, screen display turning off on calls and alot more.
Now as ive read through out XDA i always see guys saying its easy just use the xrecovery, and use the backup. the problem is during installation of the gingerxperia i didnt create any backup at all (because i was following blindly at the video, he didn't create one i didn't create one either, it was stupid i know)
i download a stock rom named W8.Bld46.17.05.2011.rar it contains 4 files namely ( Cache.img, Data.img, nandroid.md5, sytem.img) but i dont know what to do to those file. please help me
if not for the lack of support for 2.1 eclair to move apps to sd i would have gone through this upgrading and all. i wish 2.1 has some fix to be able to move apps to sd thanks in advance guys. sorry for the bad english
On Your sd card there should be a folder called xrecovery. There should be another 2 folders - Backup and custom. So all You need to do is create a new folder in Backup and put there Cache.img, Data.img, nandroid.md5 and sytem.img.
I don't know if using sb else backup is safe, so in my opinion - You should just use SEUS or SE PC Companion to restore original firmware. These will also unroot Your mobile
And You realy didn't have to change Your firmware to move apps to SD. There are some apps - like Link2SD f.e.
There will be no xrecovery folder on SD Card but instead you will have clockworkmod if you have installed it and inside that ther will be a backup folder put this inside that and then reboot your phone go to clockworkmod recovery and select backup and restore and then click on restore. now your phone will get the stock rom from those four files

well,i think you does not need to restore the stock rom, just download another full working rom,i suggest Gingerdx:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188486 ,since it complete working rom that work on stock kernel,or if you had unlock ur bootloader you can install other rom...
all you need to do is
1.copy the downloaded rom *.zip file to your sd card, using card reader or any other way that work
2.reinsert your sd card to phone
3.power up the phone, while press and hold the back button (CWM recovery/xrecovery should appear)
4.choose wipe data/factory reset option, when prompted choose yes
5.then,select install zip from sdcard option>choose zip from sd card
6.find and select the *.zip that you placed in your sd card (you can placed it anywhere)
7.when prompted, choose yes...after that new rom will be install (takes some times)
8.after it complete, back to main menu and choose reboot system now
9.your phone will reboot and new custom rom succesfully install in your device
#you should choose the right rom first before installing it,and do read the REQUIREMENT of the rom, some need you to unlock bootloader,by the way, good luck
if i helped press thanks button
Thanks sir Bolussimo

There was a problem with SEUS on the 1st week of January for me. But after that there was an update. And now it's working. You should try "repair" option, where You must choose Your device [W8].
"sb" means somebody [else] xD

ClockworkMod Recovery Can't mount SDcard

For some reason it can't mount the SDcard.
What to do?
E:Can't mount /sdcard/
Same thing happened to me yesterday either. I did this:
Take off the SD card
Install everthing on another disk.
Format the SD card from the hidden menu
Copy superuser to the root of SD card
Put the SD card back
Re-flash the rom
Voila! this time it could mount.
After reboot install everything back to the SD.
This is what i have done. And it worked. Needs a little work. If anyone has easier method use that if not use mine. Cheers.
Sorry I am a retard...
I accedently had the SDcard taken out.. God dammit.
How do you boot into CWM?
The my root succeeded, I guess. Since I am with a new ROM and everything.
But I need to boot into CWM and install SuperUser.
OR can you do it any other way?
I just wrote what to do.. What procedure are you exactly doing. Are you installing Huexxx's rom or just a v20x rom?
OH, didn't notice it was you Pondera
Well, I installed the v20N ^^
Just to get a soft start
"Install everthing on another disk.
Format the SD card from the hidden menu"
Easier terms?
Disk = sdcard?
What is hidden menu?
I am sorry, android rooting is hard do understand.
I am a techguy, usually, haha

Your rom is not rooted right now...
Well, SD card is the small external card you put back at the phone. Take it out. Copy everything on it into another disk (C: or D: or E anywhere you like. I mean copy the content.
Put back the SD card on the phone restart your phone. Press phone like you are about to make a call. Type 3845#*970# This is hidden menu. Here enter "Factory reset" Then press Format SD card. When it is done. Copy the superuser to SD card.
After all this start the procedure again. press volume + ..... an so on. This time in CWM mode SD card will mount. When flashing the rom is finished, after reboot. Copy the files from C: , D: or wherever you copied back to the Sd card. You are good go now.
I ma sorry if it seems complicated. I don't know how to explain different. Sorry.
Thanks, tried while waiting for response.
I managed to fix it.
I re-did everything from the start.
Installed the rom and when I got into the CWM again, I succesfully installed SuperUser
Thanks for your effort man (Y)!
I just checked out this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454274
Can you do this with ROM manager?
sorry for asking so much

No problem, glad if i could help. Actually you can only do it with CWM so: Yes, you can do it with ROM Manager. I am actually leaving gotta get up early and go to work. Keep me posted if you install Huexxx.
Successfully installed Huexxx last night. Can gladly say that it increased the performance with roughly 100%! (stock-ROM Quadrant scores vs Huexxx-ROM Quadrant scores)
In general I've noticed a smoother user experience and games now run ALOT better!
Can I use this Kernel together with Huexxx ROM?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332311
It says that it's for CM7.
If I recall correctly the Huexxx ROM is a modded stock rom?
Or am I total wrong?
Ur right and since it is NOT CM7 what's the conclusion? I doesnt work, right ;-)

[Q] Want to flash DjangoManouche X 1.1 however stuck while flashing..please help

Hi all,
I am quiet new in try ROM's. Desperately looking for help/guidance. I am very much interested to try ICS and though of flashing DjangoManouche X 1.1 (NoOC) rebuilded on 30a. Till this morning, i was with Temasek unofficial GB rom.
I downloaded the rom - DjangoManoucheX1.1KoBNoOC.zip but did not move to external SD card. I followed the instructions the below instructions.
1. To change partition layout from old to new (if you come from GB roms) and unlock bootloader using AIO tool by Spyrosk.
2. Flahed New v30a recovery v6.0.1.5 based on v30a kernel.
3. Cleared Dalvik cache.
I could login to recovery without any problems. Now in order to flash new Django's ROM, i need to have the zip file my SD card however i dont have it. How do I install the new ROM now without having it SD card.
I tried CWM sideload to move the zip file however it threw error "adb sideload failed to write protocol fault error". Please help me to move the zip and install this new ROM. I tried using the SD card with a reader in my laptop however it didnt detect (perhaps due to new formatting?)

Hey i got a way to move the zip to SD card from CWM recovery. I mounted as USB storage from CWM and then my computer detected it without any problems
Btw, i am exploring the ROM. It is butttery smooth and looking great. Thanks Carburano. Happy new year..
you could have also put it on internal card, no need for sd card... works flawlessly...
