Where did you find this post at!! never heard of it, most are using the open Zio Rom SPZ did up!!
Found it from "venusvenera" .com ..You can google search "Sanyo Zio 2.3 Update" and a bunch of these articles will pop up. I'm just trying to see if it actually works though.
post origin link please.
and link to zip file, cuz none exist on that site you mentioned.
I can't post any links. But I searched the zip file "hc NS test 8.1.zip" and A mediafire link came up.
Here is that link : mediafire.com/?8vvj5e2wm85smsu
And the article doesn't give these links or anything. I copied and pasted it exactly how it was.
Here it is :

We've just tried the image, and it does not boot.
Hoax so far.
Im going to dig into the zip -- see if I can get it to flash.
I suspect this is for a nexus S phone.
If we can get gingerbread working I will be ecstatic. I know our phone can run it because the Ascend runs CM7.
Won't we need to get Adynalyne back here to compile a new kernel though?

As long as ppl have donated to _his_ cause, I'd feel comfortable asking.
**edit. : The "HC_NS_test_8.1.zip" file is a honeycomb ROM. This is a bust.
Bummer... we will have to compile Cyanogen from source and run with CM7

bust
HC_NS_test_8.1.zip is a 3.0 honeycomb file. 2.3.3 has a custom rom file but you need a phone that will soon be getting the 2.3.3. just wait for the update hopefully should take too long. well its sad to say zio will not be getting 2.3 EVAR> just contaced spritn they said no.
erm..
..what?
I highly doubt Kyocera has gingerbread in the works, just look at how long it took to get froyo...
The only way that I think we can even dream of gingerbread is if the echo gets upgraded

I've been digging through the Google links. Nothing points to a gingerbread update. Again hoax!
ZIO 2.2 ROOTED
ADW Launcher EX
Gingerbread Theme
hc_NS_test-8.1.zip
I just downloaded it on 4share and unzipped it. It looked legit enough, with all the usual folders for an update and no virus. The normal apk files, didn't look threatening to me at all, but I'm a noob. I'll give it a try. Most I can do is have to install a backup of my ROM, right? I just wish I could try it out on this [email protected]#cking tablet I just got, but can't figure out how to get into the recovery screen! Here goes the Droid X. Maybe this one goes back to VZW, the speaker sucked on it anyway.
Jim
No need to try it out!!
Me and spz tried it out it is a image but not for our phone he concluded it was most likely Nexus phone, pretty sure its a Verizon rom too i flashed it forgot to factory reset and got welcome to Verizon when i programmed.
I found another site stating 2.3 but this one was for Sprint.

Thanks for that information. Now I'm very glad I didn't try it though I was able to find the files mentioned.
From what I've heard, 2.3's required specs are too high for our ZIO.

I have a At&t captivate. I rooted it on the 2.1 firmware and side loaded backbreaker game on the device with success. When fooling around with different roms, I totally crashed my phone when I tried to do a recovery with rom manager.
As a fix I did froyo update/flash with Odin and did super one click root for froyo on it. The phone works great and I can move all my old games/apps back except the backbreaker game. it either says i don't have enough memory on the device, which is not true or the phone reboots totally during installation.
Anybody has I clue what is causing this? I have the feeling it’s maybe got the do because there is still some old data left from other firmware’s/roms. But it could also be that I got no clue what I am talking about
Thanks in advance,
You should try make back ups of all of your apps, do a master clear and then reinstall Froyo, root etc. and then restore the apps and see if it works
Some games require a device id, which is wiped when you flash any of the leaked 2.2 roms. I haven't experienced this but others have noted it. If you go back to 2.1 it well repopulate your id. There is an app to pull up your device id and you can enter it manually if you go back to 2.2, but I can't remember the name of the app. Search it in the dev forum.

Like mcord said above, u could do all u want, and then set it back to stock in case u run into any issue. Just be careful not to brick ur phone, and cross check if u can get into the download and recovery modes, in case ur phone gets stuck at any place.
i DID root due to one click root program, phone is fully operational got rom manager installed and oclf installed, tried titianium back up paid, didnt install, uninstalled it looking for an easy 2.2 rom to flash. but did android explorer backup.

You have to install the free version of titanium then the paid. The paid just unlocks features on the free version. It is not actually a standalone app

oK will do, what will happen after att 2.2 update, will I still be in root?? If im still in root after update will I be able to use mobile hot spot feature?
You will need to re-root your phone IF and WHEN (if ever) AT&T releases the OTA 2.2.1 Froyo update.
After you start rooting and flashing - you'll never use AT&T's update as it is.. you'll just wait for the Odin or *.zip and do it that way.
I had to return the captivate, didnt work well as a phone. I did unroot it and master reset on it so its stock.. got an aria instead, works good as phone.

Oh man... should have checked here first. Some people trade their captivates in a couple times before getting one that is "perfect". I've never seen a model that can be so different phone to phone.
Also, I hated the captivate on the stock rom and was having some huge buyers remorse. I thought I made a huge mistake not getting an iphone 4. It wasn't until I flashed a custom rom that I started to love this phone. I had the same feeling that you did, that it was a neat toy but not a good phone.
Hello, guys. This is my first post after lurking for a while, adding roms and getting all of the good stuff for my captivate. But i bumped across the new market. I didn't follow instructions completely and deleted the market. So how should I fix this? I don't want to reflash my phone, because this would take 6 days and I am going on vacation in a few days, and I don't think I will survive without my beloved phone.
Any help on how to download the market app would be much appreciated. I have the android market app v2.12 but it will not let me install through my computer...
Still have the *.apk for the new market? If not you can go to the Themes Forum and do a search there - someone had the *.apk file for the new market app. You can download it - put it on your SDCard and then run it through your file manager - should install and your back in business.
Will need to use the SEARCH feature to find it though as I don't have the link.
Allright, thanks. I hope this works because normally I could not install apps directly to my phone because of at&t but i will try this.
btw.. are you on a stock ROM (2.1) or have you flashed to a custom ROM? Also if your phone isn't rooted this method won't allow you to install the app.
Sorry forgot to mention it.
And uh.. it never takes me 6 days to flash - usually takes me about 15-20 minutes to flash back to stock, install the new ROM, and restore my applications/app data.
It WAS on android 2.2 but I'm not sure if it is anymore because i tried restoring it to factory settings. And I'm talking about sending it to samsung to reflash it, I don't know how to do it myself :/
Oh, and yes. It is rooted.
and the app from there is kind of messed up... Very glitchy (crashes a lot and lags like crazy) and doesn't show every app in searches, like z4root which is how i easily rooted my phone the first time.
So i really just want the old market back but it will just not let me.
Go into Menu -> Settings -> About Phone and look to where it says "Firmware Version". If it says 2.2 and your phone has been rooted it should work fine.
Otherwise... you would at least need to Root it if on 2.2.
And if your not on 2.2? I'm not sure if this will work as I know it was pulled from a 2.2 updated phone.
Ok.. Plan B
You should be able to find the old Market app inside the *.zip file of any ROM you have downloaded. Just make sure they are 2.2 Froyo ROMs
Open up the *.zip file and go into system/app and look for (I'm 99% sure) "MarketUpdater.apk"
Copy that file to your SDCard and install using your file manager - should overwrite everything and hopefully your good.
Also.. you could go to your Menu --> Settings --> Applications and probably uninstall the current Market app you have downloaded first - delete any cache/data under there first before uninstalling.
Hopefully that will throw back on the original market app and your all set.
The only problem with that is... It was this one click downloader thing... Odin3. So I don't know... It also won't let me reupdate it for some reason....
Hrm.. This is from the OTA JH7 zip I have lying around. Give this a try and see if it works.
If not you will need to re-flash back to stock.
Could you supply me with a good rom thats easy to download and has the market and ****, like android 2.2, because the odin crap doesn't work for me.
Hrm.. I'd say go here if you wish to install a custom ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819105
Then a few options you have is Cognition, Auxura, or Assonance.
I've ran all of them and they are all great ROM's. I currently am running Assonance with the Gingerbread theme and it runs great.
Just make sure to do the reading first then download the ROM and you should be on your way.... just remember failure to follow the directions if on you and your warranty is already toast
Its already too late for my warrenty..... But I'll go ahead and try these. Thanks.
Actually. Something that would REALLY help would be helping me get into download mode. Every time i plug my phone into the computer in download mode it says usb device not recognized. How do i fix this? I've tried about every samsung drivers... None of them work... If i could get it into download mode i could get it working easily
Hey all so I currently have an unlocked bootloader, rooted Nexus One still running the Stock Froyo 2.2.2. and I decided to finally upgrade to the OTA Gingerbread update but have a problem.
The OTA update restarts my phone with a triangle with an "!" inside it and an Android next to it, so I decided to try a manual update as described here.
Everything went well until the installation itself, during the install I kept getting some sort of error stating Twitter.apk in the system directory could not be authenticated.
So here's the problem, with Titanium Backup I made the stupid mistake of uninstalling it and not backing it up when I first rooted a while ago. I thought I could just reinstall it from the market but I get the same error. The only solution I can think of is if someone running a Nexus One Stock Froyo could possibly send me the Titanium Backup files of Twitter, hopefully this would make it work, otherwise I don't think I could ever update.
Since your bootloader is unlocked, you can use fastboot to install a custom recovery and then flash whatever you want (including a stock image)...

Thanks for the response, but I'm having trouble figuring some of this stuff, after spending some time with the search option here in XDA:
1. I don't the difference between custom recovery and flashing an image.
2. I can't find a simple stock Gingerbread image (thought its called ROM?) Details in posts tend to be vague for people that are learning this stuff, like me.
3. Many people have written to use Amron_ra 2.2.1 but I don't know the specifics of each ROM are (ex. if its Froyo based, Gingerbread based, etc.)
4. Would using ROM Manager be a good method to use any ROM or is it limited?
I'm essentially looking for an effective method to upgrading to a clean Gingerbread, since doing it the normal way won't work on my phone (as stated in my first post).
1 - Recovery, bootloader, and 'ROM' are two different partitions on you phone. Once you break security on one, you can use it to break the security on the other. In your case, the security on your bootloader is broken (unlocked), so you can use it to install new software on the other partitions.
2 - See bullet 4 on the first post of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1005591
3 - For recovery you have 2 choices, Amon Ra or Clockwork, If you go with Clockwork, I recommend you stay away from 3.x versions. Unless the ROM you want to install says otherwise, either of these recoveries will work.
4 - ROM Manger will work. It's an easy way to achieve results, but unless you know what you are doing, it's also an easy way to screw things up.
I suggest you take it a step at at a time, and really understand what you are doing. Reading the wiki is always a good start, then ask specific questions...

Thanks Danger, I made the jump to Cyanogen 7, RC-4 via ROM Manager and couldn't be happier! Only problem is the known audio bug for Nexus One (person on other end of a call hears a lot of static sometimes, and have to recall them). The forced apps2sd is by far my most favourite feature, especially since the N1 internal space is pretty horrible, I've moved most of my apps2sd and haven't had any problems thus far.
Thanks for recommending CM7, I just wish their website listed the full features for newbies like me.
Thanks danger-rat http://www.nexusoneforum.net/forum/...lick-doesnt-work-gingerbread-2.html#post93952

ok, so im not a total noob...or at least i dont consider myself one lol im "hip" to the whole rooting/flashing/modding thing (OG, eris, dinc, evo, & now...lg revo) but this is my first LG/4g device ive encountered n ive now come to a point where i must ask for guidance lol
ok, so when i got my revo from my roommate, it already had the gb update, so i used: [One Click]Updated!!! LG Revo All in One Pkg for Root, CWM 5.0.2.7, and Unroot - to downgrade n root, then "flashed" the de-crapified (i think thats the name) rom. shortly realized i hate froyo, used ^above said method to unroot n return to stock i hopes to update back to gb, then work from there. upon attempting to do the gb update via verizon, i get the "update failed or incomplete" message. oh, n lastnight, i flashed RevoltRom1.5...
now, my question is; what am i/have i done/doing wrong?
...and/or what do i need to do to be able to have gb & root?
...or if nothing else, how can i return to bare stock? with or w/o gb...idc, cuz by this point, im prob selling it lol
(if it helps...) my phones specs:
-android: 2.2.2
-kern: 2.6.32.9-pref [email protected] #1
-build: RevoltRom1.5
-SW: vs910zv6

Just to elaborate a little what happens is when flashing a froyo ROM over gingerbread the radio causes issues including not being able to connect to mobile network I'm not sure about wifi I never tried also you will get bootloops kicking you into cwm recovery and it's the same for the opposite gingerbread to froyo.. the easiest way to get out of that bootloop is to flash a backup of the Android version you were on before you tried to put that ROM on your phone... if you were on gingerbread flash a gingerbread backup if you were on froyo flash a froyo backup but this phone does not like to jump Android software versions via a custom ROM. Of course if you find yourself without a backup the .tot files will fix your phone and the going from inner Android version to another via flashing a custom ROM has been tested throughly and has a 0% success rate. It will flash and should boot but that's about it.
