Hi all,
I have run into an odd problem. When I completely turn off my phone, the light behind the bottom 4 buttons stays on.
I have only had the phone for a week and I think it has only started happening in the last day or so.
The phone isn't rooted. Last application I installed was tasker if that helps.
Any ideas??? Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
James

my htc incS happen on this problem too..could some1 help me..plz...
Turn off fastboot in power settings & switch off & see if lights remain on. Try pulling the battery out , wait for ten sec & then insert, close back cover & then power down (with fastboot off). I think then your phone will shutdown OK. Had an Asus P 565 with a similar problem two years back, was traced to water ingestion during service.

Hey Guys,
A few days ago my home button stopped working so to exit out of apps I had to press back heaps of times to get home and it was all good.. This morning I pressed the side power button when i had some water on my fingers and I think that killed the phone
Now all it does is load the Galaxy S splash screen, then 5 seconds later it will turn off and then splash screen again.
When I take out the battery and put it back in, the splash screen loads again as if im holding the power button when I'm not.
When I hold the volume down button while putting the battery in, download mode comes up but only for 5 seconds.. Then it turns off and in a few secs download mode comes back on for 5 secs etc..
Anyone know how I can fix this?
Had my SGS for 1 and a half years and only now its giving me all these problems!
Thanks.
You can try putting it into a can full of rice (literally, the phone must be surrounded by rice), just in case it is a humidity problem...
Didnt ask for a smart ass answer.
Didn't try to answer like one, go and help yourself. Bye!

Sorry I didnt realize you were actually being serious until one of my friends recommended the same thing today!
You see, sometimes it's better to ask politely if someone is being serious or just joking...
Anyway, back to your problem, did you manage to solve it?

Fix possibility
Hey thanks for your video.
Anyone knows if there is a repair possibility for this?
I thought of opening my N1...remove the button and repair it or put some aluminium paper there....
any ideas would be helpfull....i've almost destroyed my power button trying to power on with a car key....
I got my nexus one power button fixed in htc service center in Bangalore... Costed me around 2000inr... but worth it

Ya, "2000inr", remember that everyone...
:/
And no, it will come back again. I've sent mine in four times for this.
Surgery time
I've decided to open my phone....
i found some images from ifixit and an opening guide so i ll attempt to open it and fix power button by placing some aluminium foil there.
Let's hope this will work.....
I'll let you know when i am finished.
I have exactly the same problem. My power button randomy stopped working so I turned the phone off thinking it was the phone itself.. so now I can't turn it back on again!
I've tried the battery thing with a USB charger, it charges but it doesn't turn my phone on. I cannot live without my nexus! Help!!
When led light turns on while charging, pull the battery. As soon as the light off, insert the battery. Don't wait until blinking led.
There's been so many guides and also video on it.

Remember, you can still flash CyanogenMod and friends even with a broken power button. Just don't forget to get ClockworkMod Recovery + Touch from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497637
You can navigate with either the soft buttons or moving in a direction on the screen. It's pretty slick, I think, compared to using the volume buttons + power.
I have the phone since one week and several times has spoted strange behaviour, when I press power button to put device on sleep, screen turns black, but I can see backlight? When presed again on and off everithyng goes to normal. Any one else seeng this ocasional eradic behaviour?

I hardly belive it is fault of my unit.
I spoted it with original firmware and now ater unlock, root and revolution 2.2 (basicaly same firmware with modifications i like )
Actually i think Sony's devices get that issue. And that is because of the app is not compatible with the rom.
My solution: turn off the lock screen!

I don't think is the low battery mode, I don't have it turn on and it still have the problem, I think it is when the phone get some notifications or go to internet for data then the phone with get activated but it does not go back to total sleep mode.....
low battery mode for me. I've got it set at 15% and when it charged back to that amount the backlight turns on.
Just a glitch for me and a waiting firmware update.
Hi everyone
I hope you can assist.
I have a stock HTC One X that I have been thinking of installing a custom ROM on but never got around to it.
Two days ago, after I had it plugged into a car charger, it started to act strangely. It would take really long to wake from hibernate. Then after a while the screen would go blank, though the LED on top would still blink. After leaving it charging overnight, it then stopped restarting all together. Now it won't restart even after a hard reset.
When I plug it in via USB, it is detected and I can view the contents of my phone via my computer.
It still will not restart. When I hold down the power key, the three buttons at the bottom flash, the phone vibrates but does not restart.
I can't seem to get into the boot loader either. The screen does not come on, holding down the power and the volume down key does not give me the bootloader menu.
At the moment, my thoughts are:
1. It is possible a hardware problem and the screen is faulty?
2. It is a software problem and re-installing either stock or a custom ROM will fix it.
Please let me know what you think and how best to resolve this.
If I send this to my carrier, I have to wait 4-6 weeks for resolution.
Thanks
Phil

I am not sure. Is there any way to check this?
At the moment, the phone is plugged in, LED is green (I think indicating it is fully charged), bottom 3 buttons are lit.
Other than that, when I hold down the power key, the bottom three lights blink, but no other response.
When I installed ADB and checked using ADB devices, it reported seeing a device.
Right now, when I press the power button, the bottom three lights switch on and off, almost like its waking up. Seems like this could be a screen issue. But I am not sure.
Ur screens dead bro. If the lights on the bottom are on then the phone is awake but since u for no display then either ur LCD died or the connector loosend. Btw ur in the wrong forum this is the HTC ONE u got the ONE X

lol - Looks like did plonk this in the wrong place!
Apologies.
Had this phone for 3 weeks now, just turned the screen on, unlocked the lock screen, then the screen glitched, then the phone turned itself off! Tried to power on again via the power button, but nothing. Had to hold up volume and power button together, phone vibrated. Tried turning on via power button & worked.
Anyone else had this problem?
I'm just hoping it was a one off.

I've had it happen twice, but both times were while I was sleeping so I didn't see the screen. But same thing when I woke up: phone was off and wouldn't turn on without force rebooting with the power and volume up.
Sucks when your alarm doesn't go off because your phone decides to freak out

It happened to me once a day for about a week but hasn't happened since. I've messed with that much including disabling most of the sony stuff that I can't tie down what helped (if anything)
