Device Details:
Motorola Milestone 1
Firmware: Adnroid 2.2.1 Froyo
AIM: I want to extend the internal memory.
Please tell me how can I increase my Internal memory of Milestone.
Thanks alot..!!
For rooting get AOR (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796679) and follow these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=698059
And what do you mean by "extend"?
Physically extend it? Remove unnecessary apps? Or use an ext2 partition on SD card?
Extended means using....SD Card......Your last option ext2
Is There any tool that can do it automatically?

Nope, you'll have to root it yourself, although there are some apps that can root the phone. Universal andRoot or SuperOneClick are the two that come to mind.

i have tried andRoot and it does not help i will check the other one. Thx

Worst case scenario, flash vulnerable recovery, install OpenRecovery and root there.

after you root it you still have to remove unneeded apps from internal storage or create an ext2 partition.
How to create ext 2 partition?
That's what me asking.. x

What rom are you using.
the dudes 1.2rc2
Personally I'd recommend switching over to Cyanogen's ROM...its blazing fast and Apps-to-SD it automatically incorporated as long as you have an ETX2/EXT3 partition on your micro sd card...by the way, DO you have the second partition? Because if you dont, that could be whats causing your problem
yea i repartitioned using the app it said it was creating an ext2

I agree that switching to Cyanogen's is the easiest way to go. You'll just need to format the ext2 then flash the rom.
so when the app told me it was kaing an ext2 it didnt?
or should i just use cyan rom and try the appstosd again

I'm not sure, but cyanogen has included modifications to make A2SD more stable, less chance of corruption. I think you're ext2 partition is corrupt, but ext3 is better anyway. So the best way to go is format the card in your phone and add an ext3 partition yourself, NOT using the app. then wipe and flash the rom.

It sounds like you are using apps2sd2 if that is the app you are using to create the partition. If you are using apps2sd2 to move your apps that is your problem. That is why they said not to use that app cause its a different method that doesn't work well. If I were you create the partition yourself using any of the methods on here (I like using ubuntu, there is a tuturial in my sig) then move the apps with apps with apps2sd1.
thanks i tried cyan rom and it did it automatically
Mines to small so if i were to go get a 8 or 16.. Would i just move all my files over on my Rooted hero or would i Backup re-root and restore?
Are you using A2SD?
No I'm not

If you are not using APS2SD just copy them over. I would go to recovery first and partition it. If you don't want to use A2SD just change the values to 0 on swap and ext when it ask. It may not even be necessary to do this but just make sure it is Fat32 and you should be fine.
hi i have motorola milestone. i need some help can any one provide me a guide to complete app2sd on eclair. i dont want froyo... plz help..
You can download link2sd from the market.
Make sure you have 2 partitions on the sd card first (you can just make 2 fat32 ones).
I prefer app2ext because of some reasons:
1. Faster.
2. Moved apps will work well when usb connected.

Will not work on 2.1, my friend. That works only on Froyo.
Hello.
My girlfriend's s5830i is always givin her the low memory storage error.
She has got Mindcr ROM, rooted, with apptoSD, and every app in the SD.
She hasnt got many apps, only over 10 (installed by herself). I have moved all contacts to her google acount, and I have deleted all SMS.
Can I made a partition in the SD for get more internal memory or something like that? I have heard that with ROM Manager app I will break the phone.
How can I solve this problem?
Thanks you.
Go into the cwm recovery then go to advanced. Adter that select parition sdcard. Then select the size and wait until it's ready. Then search in the development section for cronmod script and install it through cwm. It will move everything of your apps directly in the sdcard so you have just 1 - 10 mb use in internal memory.

Sorry, she has got Link2SD and every possible app in the SD card,I would like to improve the internal memory for put in the phone apps without limits of space...
Maybe some partition that makes the phone believe that it has got more rom or whatever. What do you have? When you install an app in the SD it takes some internal memory too...

I have 53 apps installed and still 59MB internal memory free.
When using Link2SD choose the option 'create link' instead of 'move to sd card'
The advantages of 'create link' are explained in detail on

Keep in mind that Link2SD requires a separate partition to be able to use the option 'create link'

When your phone is **unlocked** and S-ON, then you need to flash a recovery program e.g. ClockWorkMod 5.0.2.6 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791707 ) . Then it is possible to flash a root.zip from sd-card in recovery mode.
cannotroot HTC salsa

Link2sd is the problem, if you want to use the partition properly you need to use data2sd-ext instead, but now you have used link2sd its advisable to rewipe the new partition again like the first time and do not use link2sd again lol

updating the hboot requires using the search engine within this salsa area....i posted many many moons ago about it. same for S-Off. however i wouldn't recommend using the S-Off function until everything else has been done.!
I am however extremely worried though that people still use these models.......there really old now. I still have mine but the battery's totally dead and replacements are not easy to find!
