I have been trying to write firmwares from samfirmware.com onto my galaxy s, and when I write them it just flashes the boot logo, and then resets. I figured out that it isn't actually entering recovery to install the package. Is there any way to fix this? Or have I officially bricked it?
Note: I just unrooted, that's when the problems started. (stupid I know) I was running CWM Recovery, and Darky's Rom
does it enter download mode ??
if so flash a full 3 file firmware in odin with pit and repartition
EDIT: you cant flash odin files in recovery.. only in odin using download mode
Did your phone have 3BR to start with?
Yeah it enters download mode, says pass when I flash it etc, just when it reboots it doesn't write the flashed package. Do you know where I can get a 3 part package?
@geesamsungs - what do you mean...? Sorry, only very new to flashing.

My Tab is stuck at GalaxyTab Samsung" boot screen after i try to flash Roto-JMI-v2, before i was running Overcome v1.1.2 rom and [Kernel] [EURO] [1.4ghz OC/UV] MCR EXT4 v12 and it work like a charm. But becurse i deside to sell my TAB i flash back to Roto JMI.
I flash with Odin 1.7 with success, but now it stuck at boot logo.
After that I try many other ROM and flash with Heimdal but no lock.
I have no problem to get download mode, and flash with odin and Heimdal. But I can't get into recovery mode (power+vol up)
I have try almost every solution in the Forum...
What to do next...??
Have you tried flashing kernel only? like the overcome kernel v1.0?
Perhaps that will get you ClockWorkMod Recovery back...and you can go from there.
I try it now, shall i use odin or Helmdall to flash kernel only
With overcome kernel v1.0 it fail in Odin
That's odd. Odin should flash the kernel fine.
Does it give an error? or it just says successful, but you still cannot get into CWM?
It give a error, and I still cannot get into CWM, shall i use a pit to flash
And I have try this....
1.Get a stock rom package (any of Rotohammer's firmwares will work)
2.Get P1_add_hidden.zip attached to this post and extract the P1_add_hidden.pit file
3.Using Odin 1.7, put stock rom (Roto-JME-Full-v4.tar for example) in PDA slot.
4.Put P1_add_hidden.pit in Pit slot
5.Check repartition box
6.Put Tab in download mode by holding Volume Down and Power, connect to the computer, and press start.
7.After this, the Tab will reboot normally. Shut it down and return to download mode.
8.Open Odin 1.7 and reconnect the Tab.
9.In the PDA slot, choose the Overcome Kernel v2.0 tar file for use with Odin. Press start
10.It will flash the kernel then reboot. Upon reboot, you should hear the sexy robot voices informing you of the status of the EXT4 conversion.
11.Once done, the Tab will boot normally. At this point you can load Overcome v1.2.2 rom (or any other Rom of your choosing)
12.NOTE - Overcome 1.2.2 includes v2.0 of the kernel, so no reflashing is required after install.

You are correct - he needs to repartition the sd card, using the .pit file because it was formatted to ext4.
Your steps are great! I do them one at a time with a reboot between each one.

Oops - if you got your rom from samsung you have a locked bootloader. You can continue to flash those updates, or you can use a patch to remove the lock, then you can continue on.
Can someone please paste the link to the patch?
how about the Verizon gtab...
same thing is happening to me on the galaxy tab from verizon... samsung says to send it.. but i dont want to wait two weeks without my tab... thanks..
Stuck in Bootup Screen
I also have same problem,
I flashed a Rom from "samfirmware" and after it finished it stuck on bootup screen, unable to do recovery mode.
only goes to bootup screen or Dawnload .
can you guys help ?
You gentlemen have a locked bootloader. If you search the tab development forum you will find the solution. A member named Chainfire developed an app you download to your sd card, then install it, then run it, and it will move the offending bootloader. I can't get the link here - google "locked bootloader patch" or posts by Chainfire.
When it is removed, don't flash roms with the samsung kies - all those roms have the locked bootloader.
Stuck in Bootup Screen
thanks
but I can not get the tab to load in order to run any app. it is stuck in boot screen. any suggestion ?
You cannot get into download mode? That is power + volume down.
Do you know of the adb program?
stuck on bootup screen
I havent used ADB before.
any other solution?

how install apk boot pacth phone only samsung logo or only enter download mode how install boot patch ?
newbie comes here to learn how to flash kernel.
My SGS does not boot and does not enter recovery mode. I can enter download mode though. I suspect it happened after I removed some files from SD card.
Can I access SD card in download mode?
How can I use download mode to restore firmware and the recovery?
Thanks in advance.
u have to reflash your firmware. if u get only downloadmode working u can only reflash your device.
try a custom kernel first. if this wont work, then flash new firmware
Strange.from download mode you can only flash firmware.I think u can use adb and connect your phone to computer.try little search on topics don't rush first read carefully.
[email protected]
@malcho
adb wont work in download mode. only in cwm and after successful boot
So I understand I need to connect to PC in download mode and then use some software like ODIN to flash a ROM? Correct?
thats right.
may u can flash via kies, if u want a stock rom from samsung
I didn't know that info about adb. Thanks for info
[email protected]
Well, it's strange but looks better. Even before I did anything with ODIN the phone booted into the new ROM but I still cannot get into recovery. Seems like ROM installation procedure deleted something essential to run the recovery.
So now I have the download mode and Android working.
I am trying not to make any sudden moves so that I won't lose to ability to boot the ROM. What would be the best way to restore ClockworkMod recovery?
What ROM are you running now?
From a running stock-ROM the easiest way is to flash some custom kernel that includes CWM.
Here's a list http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966646
For 2.2.1-based ROM I prefer Speedmod.
For 2.3.3-based, choose your own
edit: There are some ROMs/kernels that can only enter recovery when USB-debugging is on.

I've just switched from Darky's 9.2 to PilotX with 2.6.35.7-I9000X[email protected]#Beta4.2_1 kernel.
From what you are saying I understand CWM recovery needs Linux kernel to run. I thought it's a stand alone boot-loader independent from the OS and kernel.
I installed CF-Root-XW_NEE_JVH-v3.2-CWM3RFS which comes with CWM recovery via ODIN with no effect. I still cannot reach recovery mode.
My phone came with 3e recovery which I downgraded to 2e (I don't remember how I did it then). Is it possible it has something to do with the problem?
You should always flash to stock when you have an issue.
You can also use Darky's resurrection (at least, part A: Pit with re-partition)
Then flash the original firmware (from samfirmware.com)
Thanks to everyone.
The problem was solved using http://www.v00d00.co.il/GBFINAL.pdf guide. Note, this guide is only relevant for Hebrew PilotX ROM.

hello everyone,
I rooted my galaxy ace S5830 using single one click. after that used the stock recovery to install CWM (i changed the name to update.zip and use it from my SD card). By this i lost my recovery option.
I started the phone and used the CWM.apk installed in my apps to flah the recovery again, at this point after restart by the app, the phone stuck and don't start or enter the recovery.
Ican enter download mode (Only word downloading is diplayed on the screen). Now when i try to download the stock ROM or the CWM using Odin, it take very long time and stop at the same point (download MIBIB file). WHen trying to download the recovery using odin, it stuck in the download .img file.
U tried it with different odin versions, but all stuck.
Any advice?

Hello, thank you for repalu. I can boot on the download mode only. I solved it after correcting the (OPS) file name. I found a post on another site said it must be (Cooper_v1.0.ops). After doing that, i can use Odin normally to download the recovery CWM and stock ROM.
Hi everybody
Im new here and to flahing new Roms and stuff.
i believe my phone is bricked and im struggling to get it opperational. Here is what happened...
I have a GT-N7000 on 4. 1. 2 Jelly Bean, which i rooted and flashed to custom ROM CynoganenMod 12 on 5. 0 Lollipop. All was going fine, i rooted my phone, installation went accordingly. After a week or so whithout any problems, my phone started to freez, slag and hang which it never did before, so i decided to flash it back on 4. 1. 2 Jelly Bean I did all as is step by step on Odin 3.-v1.8. When my booted, it booted into System Recovery...
reboot system now (I did)
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage (I did)
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partion
apply update from cache

Volume up : Continue
Volume down : Cancel ( restart ) (I did)

My problem is i have no clue what my PDA nor my CSC code is. Im from South Africa and not sure either which of these are correct.... XFV, XFC, XFM, XFA (im not network locked) so i dont know which firmware to flash with Odin to make my phone opperational again? Any help please guys.

Download Philz kernel in tar.md5 format and flash using Odin... Then try to boot into recovery. You should see cwm. Factory reset and flash a stock rom again.

I have tried Phillz and did as you suggested. Im confident that i dont have the correct firmware. I downloaded this from Sammobile : N7000XXLSZ_N7000OJVLSB_N7000LSO_HOME.tar.md5.
Not sure how to go about this....
Doesn't matter what firmware you had.. Once you do a factory reset you can flash any rom made for the n7000
Were you able to get into Philz cwm recovery after you flashed the kernel?
Hi there.
I am happy to report that my phone is back to its original state. Phew, that wat too close for comfort.
I figured that it was obivously bricked or something close to it.
The problem was that i repartitioned it with the wrong PIT file and wrong kernel. Why i did that, i dont know? So i found firmware i thought would be the correct one! In its bricked state i copied the file superuser to my external, so can unzipit in CWM recovery. I download a file flashprogram Samsung N7000 +Pit. I then unzipped it and found the .Pit file which i flashed onOdin3 v1.85 at the same time with the firmware, have it repartitioned, and install the firmware.
It passed with success. Go Green!!! )
It booted to Philz recovery and installed the zip file superuser, took your advice then rebooted.
My phone switched on but a page came up where i had to give a password decrypting the device storage. Freaked out repeated the same prosesswith Odin and it started up normaly and suprised to see it restored to its original state* *smile*
*Just be carefull not to go flash the wrong stuff on your phone if your not sure what you are doing ( like i did! )*
I took your advice to heart and want to thank you for your expertieze. I learned alot from my phone the past 3days.
Regards.Johan
