I'm trying to run the Speedmod kernel [K13E HPCall VoodooSnd7 SharpnessFix STABLE] on Darky's rom 10.1.
When i start my phone he freeze on the Galaxy S logo, What can i do about it?
have you checked if speedmod kernel is compatible with darkys 10.1 ?? 10.1 is gingerbread right ? so ordinary speedmod wont work, unless its made for the gingerbread base.
It is gingerbread indeed. I want a good kernel on my phone that is good for my battery, after a lot research i found out speedmod was one of the best..
Where can i find out what kernel can run on darky 10.1 gingerbread?
why not try the fugumod kernel, ive heard exceptional things about it since its last update, and no-one has reported the Android OS drain at all with this kernel !!
if MIUI supported it, i would definitely try it out, but i cant bare to part with the MIUI ROM, its awesome
to find out what kernels are supported, ask darky himself, or just browse his thread
I gonna try the fugumod kernel, i will let you know if it works!
Alright im running the fugumod kernel on my phone now!
Is there anything about best settings on the net?
I only thing the time between applications and the application list is taking a little to long..
have you converted to ext 4 ? what other tweaks are in CWM you can select ?
i dont know what its like ive never used it
I downloaded the Fuguappfree from the market, when i open this app on my phone i can choose the following thing:
/system jfs or ext4 (set on jfs automatically)
/data jfs or ext4 (set on ext4 automatically)
/dbdata jfs or ext 4 (set on ext4 automatically)
/cache jfs or ext4 (set on ext4 automatically)
in cwm i cant select anything, i even cant find anything like lagfix.. :S
still droping 10% an hour...
dont know what to do, maybe a flash back 2 darky 9.5 an option?
firstly do the battery calibration, it can take upto a week for the battery to settle in after flashing different firmwares.
its hard to judge battery life on a ROM that hasnt settled, Also, check battery stats and see what the biggest battery drainer is.
then we can go from there
Alright,
Im now on Darky 10.1 with Dark Core 2.5...
Today i will let my battery die to 0% and do the calibration.
After that i will post my battery stats, i hope you can help me to analyze!
no probs keep us informed of your findings and we will fix you up
I found latest bleeding edge ultra to be brilliant, running all on jfs, try the fugutweaks .zip too, and buy fugu app for more options and to support dev...and lastly...read installation instructions

I downloaded the FuguMod 4.0 ultra,
but what to do with the fugutweaks.zip?
will the fugumod 4.0 make my battery life better, or just better preformance with worser battery?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installed, and its running blazing ****ing fast!
I still didnt do anything with the fugutweaks.zip because i dont know how to?
But this kernel is the best ever i tested on preformance
I also noticed when i restart my phone, the language ''Dutch'' changes automatically to English, also the USB connection i standard put on connect with PC changes to connect Kies,
The second problem is i have to wait almost 5 min before my gps works..?
Do you know what the problem is?
Hi, just flash the zip in recovery, gps always problematic, search for various fixes

hello fellow!
i read all relevant post regarding what i'm about to asking but i'm not convinced.
please XDA i'm going to upgrade my SGS gt i9000 on gingerbread
&
i want a custom rom with all lagfix, fast phone & better battery timing.
the main feature i'm interested in is!
i want the moving dock(i think that what it called)where we find 4 button of phone, contact, message, app, on the front homescreen with 7 pages.
in this dock all installed app can be seen at a time by moving it seperately on the homescreen.
there is no stable gingerbread rom atm
What you are looking dor is a scrolling wallpaper just look it up and its not invluded in any rom, we don't have gingerbread on this phone yet. Darky and Dics rom are pretty much the most used rom botb are really easy to configure, darky uses an app from the market and Docs is a web based kitchen. Lagfixes come in kernels, both darky and Doc let you choose the one you want Harcore Speddmode and Supercurio's Voodoo Kernel are the most used but don't let you OC your phone.

zimmbi & GOTFrogqc thank you for your reply.
GOTFrogqc; your reply was really helpfull.
so tell me if there is no gingerbread for sgs gt i9000.then which os should i get for my phone.i want gingerbread please.....
try darky
from my experience, darky rom resemble Gingerbread the most. Compare to other ROM, most additional "features" of Darky ROM were the modifications everywhere (Theme/Icon/Config) to make it resemble as much as possible to the Nexus Ging! I remember a moment Darky changed the boot animation to the one of Nexus S and made it as "feature", then he changed the fingerprint of the phone config to 2.3 and made me beleive that my SGS was Ginger LOL! but it's all over! he's listen to his user, and constantly improve his rom right now. I always think the last stable version of Darky ROM is one of the best rom, and I recommend it for someone who like the taste of Ginger (just theme). And I'm looking forward to taste the official Darky ROM 9.3 with JS5.
As for now, I recommend latest Kitchen DOC/Stef + latest SpeedMod 250Hz + R64 theme (plus Go Laucher Ex + AppOrganizer if you have 313 apps as mine ^^!). No need to lagfix (because there is no more lag to fix ^^) except if you want a higer quandrant (which means nothing).
I do NOT recommend any OC-UV kernel. It fry my phone, give me headache to config the Voltage, the smothness improvement often is not noticiable, but the battery usually drain faster. I think its the reason why hardcore never add OC-UV feature to his kernel (Yes, I think he is very capable to do that)
Thanks for Doc Stef Hardcore R64... to make my phone beautiful and fast.
i would personally recommend darkys rom. I only took the move to install a custom just over a month ago and now my phone is working the way it should be - smooth and fast. if its your first time i would recommend installing his 9.2 resurrection rom - there is an easy to follow guide on how to install it from the main page

+1 for darkys
I've heard a lot of good things about Darky.
I personally use seeArm's Custom ROM because it uses the JL2 modem which I need for the 850Mhz band. I may eventually try to flash with Darky and then write the JL2 modem on top of it, but that's a bit more risky so i'll try it later when i have more time.
Rom Kitchin build your own rom .

I used Darky 9.3 + recomended voodoo kernel (no lag fix)
my phone frezze once time when I played around by turning On/Off wifi GPS + google maps; frezze at the point that I must to restart it by long click on the power button.
I switched voodoo to speedmod k13c 250Hz (always on Darkyy 9.3) since 3 days. And repeated the test with Wifi/GPS/3G google map on/off... everything is very smooth as it should be..
ATM I do not turn on speedmod tweaks because I did not see any different (smothness + bat life) with tweaks (voodoo does not have tweaks either)
So, what is the problem of Speedmod k13c on Darky 9.3?
I read it from Darky forum
Hi there
Videocalls work perfectly in this ROM.
I really recommend Voodoo as your kernel. It's stable and easy.
We will fully concentrate on Voodoo.
SpeedMod is gonna have a hard time in the future with v9.3.
Sorry to say this.
It's a bit like the Internet Explorer of the Webbrowsers...
We have to make workarounds (which delays the ROM releases) for SpeedMod because it doesn't use standards... Partitions etc. you know.
Will write more when v9.3 Final is here.
It's not about my personal preference. I also used SpeedMod for a while.
It's just that we discovered several issues with SpeedMod and a fixed recovery.
In the final, SpeedMod users will nees to have lagfix ON and tweaks OFF. else the partitions aren't gonna work properly.
I've nothing against SpeedMod, I like hardcore and his whole effort. =)
If hardcore would fix the strange mounting (which also can cause boot loops on every ROM if used with a certain configuration).
You guys will always have the choice to use any kernel.
We just take some logical steps to make it easier for the masses / beginners.

It seem that the only problem with Speedmod is the Recovery (and some mounting problem) while installing darky rom, but there is no problem on normal usage. am I right? what do you think about this combination? someone have any problem with it?
i am using darky 9.3 and hardcore speedmod.. so far so good. just tat the batt life is abit.. er... u know..
i might try out doc's rom one day to see the diff.
I have Darky with Speedmod and it's work fine !
I have 9.3 final with k13c as well. battery is alright I think, I'm at 56% after moderate use after 1 d 1 h of up time.
Using Darky's v9.3 + Speedmod k13c ... all running smooth as silk with lagfix enabled aswell.
Darky 9.3 and SpeedMod K13C....awesome combination!
Folks....Darky 9.3 and SpeedMod K13C....awesome combination..believe me ...not a single issue so far since I upgraded to 9.3. Its Smoother...Snappier.... everything u want your phone to be at in terms of performance...... I enabled the Lagfix as well as the Tweaks and also set the Brightness Level setting to Normal....getting 30hrs juice outta my battery with heavy usage....TD Synch every 10 mins...FB, lot of Gtalk chat...i clock 35% on Voice calls....WiFi usage for an hour or so FB, Gmail synching up regularly too...what can I say...
ps: Flashed XWJV1 modem yesterday and I'm just about to be convinced that this modem is surpassing the performance given by XXJPY....
Guys,
Is it just me having a problem with semaphore 1.5.0 JVR? i am on darky 10.2 RE and flashed 1.5.0 JVR with SGS kernel flasher and in 1 hour of hardly any use the battery has gone down by 20% and it's hot at the back!!
any help on this please?
THANKS
If you use DarkyRom the best results are with speedmod kernel or/and Darky's default, other i do not now for this rom, i never tested. Semaphore is a good GB kernel, i recommend some charge cycles, if the results remains change the kernel.
Maibe it depends of wich programs are running on in background. you should to download gemini app manager from market free and in expert mode you can see wich program got the autoboot run setup and you'll be able to put them on Off.
Hey Guys,
First off, I love XDA and everything you all have done to improve my phones! Long time reader (from the WinMo 5 days!), but unfortunately I never have much to contribute. Hopefully this post will change things.
I have a Captivate which was running great... until I decided to EXT4 the whole thing. Then in the past 18 hours I had a bootloop (installed Voodoo then Glitch Kernel on Stock Eclair, bad move) and built a jig as the 3- or 2- button combo's were not working . My phone is fine now, I have Stock Sammy TW 2.3.3 from AT&T running (even though this is a Rogers phone.)
What I Want From My Captivate:
- Root
- CWM 4x
- exfat4 on EVERYTHING (Voodoo/Supercurio's fix only fixed either /data or /system. I can't remember which, though the Quadrant score was 1770 on Stock Sammy Froyo)
- Running Glitch Kernel v11 Low Leakage (I found my phone to be the fastest and most stable on Glitch. Bali switched my volume buttons and SpeedMod was ok...)
- MIUI 1.8.19 or CM7. I'd prefer MIUI, the messaging popup is awesome, though I prefer the settings menu in CM7.
- Voodoo Sound/Color
- Launcher Pro (sidenote: too bad I can't create folders in the App Drawer )
- Battery life of more than 5-6 hours!!
Questions / How To:
1) I cannot root my GB with Super One Click. I'm thinking of Odin'ing to Froyo, Rooting.
2) How do I install CWM 3 or 4x on stock and just root? Odin? I found this but in which place do I put the package (PDA, Boot, etc.)
3) Do I install Voodoo, convert to exfat4, then Glitch? Or should I update Voodoo, install MIUI, then Glitch Kernel??
4) After installing exfat4, Can I just do Nandroid backup of my data, which will be installed as exfat?
5) Is Voodoo Sound installable is a kernel even when I have Glitch installed?
6) My battery life does not last past 5-6 hours!!! Terrible! I got this phone instead of my BB9700 as a straight-up trade and the Cappy has 10 months warranty left. Should I send it to Sammy?
Thanks in advance!

First off you can find ALL of this information on xda. Search and read. Ginger bread does not have a 1 click root, you can how ever use this thread for the rooting method on KF1, just for rooting. As for CWM its a kernel usually just stick it in pda. On the Voodoo your out of luck on native gingerbread roms since KF1 kernel has not drooped, however, you can have ext4 format with Cognition 5 and Atomic fusion if you know what you are doing. MIUI and Cyanogen have their own instructions on wich kernel and what not, BUT if your poor battery life is on these roms then they are the culprit since its a bug they have. I average anywhere from 12-30 hours of battery life dependent on usage on KF1 gingerbread roms, Ive been averaging about 16-45 hours with my current clock/voltage settings.
I would recommend you do research on KF1 Gb roms or I9000's ported ones and stay away of Miui or Cyanogen till they fix their battery, if having a long day without a charge is part of your life. Again search and read my friend =)
Haha his search button is broken, thts his excuse!

Dear all,
Last week I installed CM9 on my SGS GT-I9000. I am very very happy about it as the device works very well and fast
So, that's great!
The only issue I have with CM9 is the short batterylife. I installed CPU-Spy and this app showed that my phone turns into deep sleep when the phone is on stand-by. I also shut down the background processes, put the screen on low light etc.
When I put my telephone on stand by modus, It lasts +- 20 hours which is okay (I think). But when I start using my phone ('whatsapp' some now and than, checking news, nothing special) the battery runs empty in a very short period of time.
What can I do about this issue? I read some threads about changing de kernel version? Which kernel would be the right one? What does it do?
Or is it also an option to switch to CM7? Does CM7 use less battery?
I would really like to hear some of your advices on this :fingers-crossed:
Kind regards,
Jurjen
Stock fws have the best battery life. If you want an other kernel, flash Devil or Semaphore ICS.

Thanks for that. I'm only interested in replacing the kernel if that kernel will improve batterylife Do you think it will?
My current kernel is 3.0.8-g54d09f2 [email protected] #1
Where can I find the Devil or Semaphore kernel?
Kind regards,
Jurjen
Just try them an then choose what's better for you.
You will find them quickly if you look in the I9000 android development forum. Make sure you get the ICS kernels (do not confuse with JB or GB kernels)
Once you switched the kernel, you're not done yet. You may set kernel parameters as governor or scheduler for example to get better battery life.
