[Q] can't install nook store apps after rooting? - Nook Color General

Each time I attempt to install the apps from the nook store, I get a low application storage error...which is bs considering 99% of my storage is available according the the settings menu. Installing prior to flashing mn works, but afterwards is a no go. Not a huge deal, but annoying to piss away a couple bucks.

[Q] Select which apps run at start up???

Is there a way to select which apps you want to start up and run when the phone is booted? Since I've rooted I've had a lot more apps running right after turning the phone on (15-25 apps running). It is sluggish at start up, I'm assuming this is because the phone is trying to start and run a whole bunch of apps at the same time as well as obtain signal, check verify media on the SD card etc. and the processor is bogged down. Is there a way to select which apps I'd like to run at start up?
If you want to reduce lag try roms. Any app that tries to control what Is starting up will largely be ineffective
Any speculation as to why I never experienced this until after I rooted my phone?
Rooting should not cause programs to just start running.
Are you certain you have not added something else since root that may be causing lag?
I wouldn't describe it as general lag. It's only at start up. Once everything has loaded it runs the same it did the day I got it. It's just that it takes longer to boot initially. And when I use my task killer once everything is loaded it typically kills off 20-25 apps. Before I rooted I had a max of 6 apps running at start up. Currently I have 80 apps installed. Before I rooted I might have had 10 less apps.
Go to market, put startup in search, you should find several apps that claim to help with this
Thanks, I'll give that a try.
Startup Auditor. Works for me, give it a shot.

[Q] My NC is Fat on apps now

I bought alot of 10 cent apps during the pre chrismas sale and installed most of them on my NC and now it gets really slow sometimes now. I was wondering if there was like a general number for how many you can have without things slowing down at stock clock speeds. Maybe they created background services that I should manage?
It might be helpful to check what apps & services you have running. I've had a few apps that would start on boot and/or sync which really slowed things down every time I tried using the NC. I've also turned off almost all syncing as well.

[Q] Slow / lag HTC One M7

Hi guys,
I've had my HTC One for over a year now and love it except recently it seems to have gone really slow / sluggish and visibly takes ages to do anything recently. For instance today in work I wanted to show someone a photo I took on my camera this morning... I went into the camera app and then clicked the thumbnail at the bottom to get to gallery and it must have taken 30 seconds to open the picture.... as much as I have iPhones, with them I have seen people click and it is pretty much instant....
I have updated it to the latest software (4.4.2) as soon as it was available a few months back and it is completely stock / unrooted etc.
Is there any way to either a) find out what is making it slow or b) get something to make it faster?
To note, I would rather not root / install a custom rom if I don't have to but if thats the only way then please do say so.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Did you install any new Apps that might be hogging resources?
There are process loggers and probably take a look at battery drain to identify apps.
I'd suggest to backup essential information (just in case) and perform a factory reset.
Thanks for the responses guys:
@gotcha69 - I install apps all of the time so it may well be this but I have no idea how to track down which one is at fault, shy of a very long process of installing everything one by one...
@davebugyi - can you recommend a process logger please? Looking at battery app usage this morning, 41% Google Play Services, 40% Android System, 5% MX Player and TV Catchup 2%... does any of that seem unusual?
Was watching a video on the way to work this morning and when I got there, pressed pause and it took a couple of seconds to actually stop the playback. I just cant get my head around a phone more powerful than most desktop/laptop computers from 3 years ago can be so sluggish for simple actions.
Definitely thinking about a factory reset - is there any way to backup apps on a non-rooted phone?
@gk141054 - I use only the built-in app in Android Tuner, but you can try OS Monitor or Elixir 2 or CPU Monitor.
For me GP services a bit too much in my opinion.
To back-up things you can use the accounts sync option on a non rooted device - copy all your stuff into a computer from SD Card, but nothing much can be done with apps. Maybe you can try HTC's backup app (can't help much, since I am rooted and using Titanium backup).
Check your media server

I've been having a bunch of trouble recently on my HTC One... some app update (I suspect Twitter for various reasons) has been causing my HTC's media scanner to go crazy, frequently hogging 25% CPU and causing 15% logcat (as measured by CPU Monitor).
I finally solved the problem seemingly by force closing the media server, clearing its data, force stop twitter, clear its cache, and delete it's cache folder (Android/data/...twitter/cache). For good measure, I also cleared .thumbnails (DCIM/.thumbnails, use ES file manager and enable hidden files).
Your mileage may vary...

I had definitely the same issues with my HTC One M7. I identified Mediaserver as the source of the problem. Mediaserver regularly scans all files on the device.
What I did to get rid of the problem is installing SD Maid (Pro) (no rooted device needed!). Scanning and deleting all the trash files that accumulated in the last 2 years freed about 2 GB of space!
Since then no lag on my HTC One was encountered!

Using ramexpander at first boot?

So I've gone for the root on my xtrons PF series and as everyone seems to have an issue with the initial booting speed of their units, I'm trying this work around to see if it can speed up the boot time and get access to things like Google maps etc much quicker.
Currently I'm at 8mins for Google maps to be 100% responsive from turning the ignition to input.
I've rooted the unit with kingoroot, installed SuperSU and removed kingoroot. Then I've made SuperSU a system app.
Installed a microSD card and used ramexpander to increase the ram up to 5gb (4 something something).
However, the headunit needs to boot up and then the application for RE initiates.
How can i get this to boot as a system or boot app rather than a data?
I want to do this to see if the increased memory will help speed up the boot sequence, so I'm not waiting for all the other apps to "catch up".
Am i going around this the wrong way? Or am I on the right track?

Problems after installing PE 12.1 on Moto G6

Hi all from a noob,
Hopefully I've put this post in the correct place but if not would a mod move it for me please.
I'm almost new to Android and this is my first go at modding an Android device so please bear with me. I may have taken on too much for a noob but I am where I am.
I recently installed PixelExperience_Plus_ali-12.1 (Android 12) using TWRP 3.7, without root access, onto a Moto G6 (ali xt1925-4, single SIM) that I was given to play around with and learn some Android stuff.
Installing the OS was not as straight forward as hoped and it took several attempts but I got there in the end. The phone boots up, albeit slower than with the old Motorola Android 9 (Pie) but guess that's to be expected.
I haven't extensively run/tested the device or put in a SIM card yet, in part, because I've been getting some errors that I'd like to fix first. I've searched the forum but haven't found anything that helps and I know trying solutions for similar devices/problems, without suitable guidance, can create more issues than it solves.
I'd be very grateful for some help.
The errors messages I'm getting so far are:
1.) "android.process.media keeps stopping...." This occurs quite often and may be the main culprit of other issues.
2.) "com.android.phone keeps stopping...." This has happened 2 or 3 times in the last 24 of fiddling and appears to happen randomly. I haven't tried to use the device as a phone yet - no SIM installed.
3.) "Not enough storage space...." This appears bringing the phone out of screen lock if I've left the Play Store open when the screen lock has activated. Settings -> Storage shows "30% used - 22.55 GB free". I believe the device has 32 GB of storage.
There are no apps installed other than the ones that came with PixelExperience_Plus_ali-12.1 and Magisk 25.2 and TWRP 3.7, which were already on the phone before I did the upgrade. I believe PixelExperience_Plus_ali-12.1 come with GApps.
I haven't changed any of the settings on the phone other than the Screen Timeout from default to 2 minutes and set the WiFi password.
The Magisk app appears to have problems, though I haven't tried to use it. I wonder if I should uninstall it but I don't know what other issues this could cause if I did (uninstall it).
Apps won't install from the Play Store. When Install button is selected the screen flashes and displays "Pending" then returns to the App's install screen and occasionally a fleeting message appears saying something about low storage but it disappears too quickly to read.
The device seems to eat the battery which I only replaced, with a supposed genuine replacement, a short while ago.
Settings -> Battery suggests 24hrs use on a 100% full charge, with Android 9 it was about 4 days.
There are other issues but I don't want to make this post too long especially if resolving item 1 above resolves some or all of the others.... ever hopeful.
