I have Sprint Galaxy Tab (SPH-P100) running 2.2.1 firmware.
I tried lowering LCD density by modifying build.prop file (something that I had successfully done prior on a WiFi-only tab). However, at any other value other than 240, the touchscreen is out of calibration by 90 degrees. When I change it back to 240, the touchscreen works fine.
Has anyone else had this problem, or know of a touchscreen calibration app?
there is some ppl change it more than 240 i don't know exactly the number but its worked fine , i don't know why this happen to u , and my advice for u don't play with the screen calibration cuz this prob drive me many times back to reflash roms and restock .. i hate it
u may can check this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969578 , maybe u'll find ur answer there
focus at this one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087227&highlight=LCD
Thanks. I checked those threads out but there was nothing about the touchscreen being off. I'll take your advice though and not mess with it. Maybe HC might help/solve the problem

Solved the problem
The answer was here in XDA
Lie galaxy flat.
( back side galaxy isn't flat!)
Setting- Display-Calibrate
Back to normal.
thanks, but it is still not working. i heard that only g1 can have that rotate effect.
Anyone seen their light sensor get 'stuck' or just badly calibrated?
Mine reports super low values unless you hold it right up to a light bulb, then it says 'dim room' or something similar lol.

This all started happening after I tested out killswitch application (which uses the light sensor) which I think killed it. I've uninstalled and rebooted but now my light sensor is stuck in above state.
Anyone know how to recalibrate?
Bump and even more confusingly, I'm now on overcome 2.0 rc1 and even full restock and flash to new rom didn't fix it. What the...

Its a known Issue to samsung light sensor auto brightness is screwed. They fixed it with Galaxy S2 upgrade. I wish someone would port it for our tabs
oh snap it was working OK before that app broke it, no joking.
And the broken-ness carried across a full restock and upgrade from Overcome 1.45 to Overcome 2.0 (froyo --> gingerbread). So something is very weird, I hope you're right and that its a SW problem not hardware.
Also lightsensor problem with brand new Tab 7.7
I also have a problem and nSamsung doesn't even answer to my cries for help (Samsung Belgium redirected me to Samsung the Neteherlands and they do not reply at all).
I downloaded different luxmeter apps and general sensor apps they give as measurement result 12, 120 or 1200 lux (seems they output the range or lower or upper limit of the range the sensor is on, not the actual value). The sensor datasheet says it has a resolution of 1 lux.
Any solution would be much appreciated, I intende to use the sensor as a luxmeter and write an app for it taht needs the luxvalue ! But as it is now, the tablet is completey useless for this because the OS/driver software not working properly
Hi.
Since I made a huge mistake of buying LG Optimus 3D, and I finally managed to get out of it, I'm considering S2 or Note, but before shelling out so much cash for a phone, I'd like to ask a few questions to avoid possible frustration (damn, I should have thought about that before buying the LG...) So, here goes:
1 - Does it work with DPI (ro.sf.lcd_density=) other than stock? I'd like to use 160 since I hate huge icons, but the Optimus 3D bootloops with anything other than 240, so this time I ask.
2 - Any problems with WiFi, does it respect "wifi sleep policy" set to "never"?
3 - Any chances for CM7 for the Note? I'm not too crazy about ICS, I'd much prefer a well-refined Gingerbread ROM that works without bootlooping , graphical glitches, DPI problems and whatnot.
I would be very, very grateful if someone took a few minutes to check if it works with DPI set to 160 or 120, as this is what completely ruined the O3D for me.
Thanks in advance.
Answering here what I experienced so far.
1- U can change pixel density very easily down to 240 at least (using the qemu.sf.lcd_density=), I never tried lower, but I wouldn't go under 240 anyway, things get wayyy too small, I use at 280 which is perfect I think.
2- Wifi always on 24h a day without drops for me independent of screen on or off
Hello, i have a gt-s6500 and recently i damaged the screen and went to a phone service (not samsung official) and asked them to replace it.
They did but i am not satisfied really, they claimed it is original samsung display and that i cant find a better one for my phone.
So here it is : First its a little bit smaller so it doesnt entirely fit the screen area and second maybe worse colors are bad
By that i mean contrast is too low and gamma is too high. I however didnt find a tool to fix this (screen adjuster didnt help), so if anyone can find me a solution (software solution) please let me know. My phone is rooted by the way and it is on deafult rom.
Part of my m7 touch screen isnt working .. its kinda crazy cuz the phone never got dropped .. i saw that many people had that problem its between this two parts of screen that doesnt work theres a line that working..sometimes the touch isnt working at all !!
(when people call me sometimes).
its really disappointing cuz i like htc very much !
another problem that im having and saw that many people has it too : screen brightness always go maximum ! auto off for sure but still the brightness making problem tryed to reset the phone didnt help( not hard reset) it sucks to have a bunch of problems in a new phone ..
please please help me !

Areas of the screen not registering touch input in most cases is a hardware issue with the digitizer. Loose digitizer connector may cause similar issues, but the only way to check is to open the phone. Opening is not easy and there is a high risk to damage the body. If you decide to go this way, my suggestion is to get new front and back panels + screen kit and to transplant the rest into the new housing. It's also a good time to replace a worn battery or a faulty camera module.

some times the screen back to full funcanlity
and please help about the other problem with the brightness .. its look like one of the sensors is broken in the phone .. maybe its the problem ?
When Auto Brightness is set to Off, the phone is not using the light sensor.
You'll have better chance to get help if you provide some basic information about your phone:
- What OS version? (KK, LP, stock, custom)
- Was the phone factory reset after the last OS update? (highly recommended)
- Do you use any applications that control screen brightness? (like some picture viewers, barcode display apps, etc.)
You may fix the brightness issue (most likely software related), but non working digitizer on parts of the screen is hardware related and no app will fix this.

lollipop not root and other .. i deleted everything , did a soft reset not the hard type . no but i download lux to see if its help and it doesnt help either
The only thing left to try on a software side is factory reset the device. Many users report it clears various OTA Lollipop update bugs. The process takes about 10-15min, the OS will go through Android system update process again and the device will be reset to factory default state (don't forget to backup all your data). During the initial setup process don't restore your online account backup, make clean setup. Test the screen and digitizer before installing any 3rd party apps. Make sure your screen protector (if you have one) is not bugging the digitizer. If you have the same issues, then it's definitely hardware related (screen/digitizer assembly or connecting ribbon cables).
