[Q] Rom share - how to upload a ROM? - Off-topic

Hi guys it's almost all afternoon that I'm trying to upload to ROMShare(romshare.deployfu.com) but what i get after a while is: "The page is not responding" or something. How can I correctly upload an update.zip on that website?
BTW,update size is 253MB
My internet connection totally sucks. So,if anyone can give me a tip on how to upload a rom avoiding that "Page not responding" error.. TIA
I've used Google Chrome and Firefox

IMO, DropBox is the best way to share anything from images, songs, archive files, etc. It's a free service if you just stick with the 2GB plan, which is plenty.

Yeah but using dropbox rom can't be downloaded via rm.

Meh, I find it easier to just download the ROM on my computer, put it on my SD card, and then just "Install ROM from SD Card" with ROM Manager.

[Q] Download large files

Hey guys, is it possible to download large files (>300mb) to my sgs. When i try to do that the browser just doesnt start downloading. I tried Opera and Dolphin too. Thanks

I never tried single 300 mb file from the browser but u can try installing torrent client. You can download torrent files no matter how big they are.
Another solution is download Astro file browser from market and go to settings. And select "allow browser to download any file" you should be good to go.
Let me know if it works
Sent from my GT-I9000M
it's a good question, i'm sure it'll work just fine as long as you have enough free space
Thanks, but Astro "enable browser download" option didn't help me. It seems this tool only allows user to download any type of file(not size).

[Q] Need gingerbread stock mms.apk

Hi guys! can anyone tell me where I can find stock LG 2X 2.3 mms.apk? I searched all over the forum but I found only the Froyo version.
Could this be achieved by downloading a Gingerbread ROM from the Dev section and simply opening the .zip folder and removing the .apk from the ROM package?
Iv looked in this location before for other apps but never taken any files out so not sure if this will work this easily??
I‘ll try as soon as possible, can I rely on your help here?

No, I dont know if this method works as I have never attempted this before.
I also havent seen it mentioned anyone on here that, that method is possible. To be honest though, as long as youve made a backup through CWM then if anything goes wrong just restore the backup. Also if its only an .apk file and he fails to installed the phone will stop the process so nothing will happen.
What i have just said are only thoughts which havent been tried or tested.
Here you are my friend
Thanks mate!!!

Sorry, it doesn‘t work! I‘ve disinstalled messages app with titanium backup but installing your file “Application not installed“ is your 2.3.7?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
No,it's 2.3.4
Try this one
Nothing.... I deleted old mms app with TB but on new install it told me if I want to replace some files, so I think I‘m doing something wrong, I don‘t know how to delete totally all mms system files

[ASK][CM7] LG Email app on CM7

Hi all,
I'm now using Temasek Kang 70/CM7. Can this ROM uses LG Emaill app? I really miss this app
Thanks!
Hmm, you have "normal" e-mail app on CM7 which IMO is better than the LG one. Is there anything missing in this app that you need the LG one?
Try to copy from /system/lib, there are 2 .so files that also need to be copy else than the apk (if im not mistaken..) something named EmailCore.so

Well stock Android email couldn't do this (or can?):
- Images put on email body instead of attachments
- Zoom in/out >> this one is really important
Currently I use TouchDown - so far soo good though, well, still free on trial period

Tablet cannot download any type of file?

First note that I am on official 4.0.4 USA rom (USA model) that is stock but rooted.
Downloads from any browser won't work (chrome/stock/firefox) but I can download off say Tapatalk or within apps. So long as the link isn't to a mirror (file sharing website) it seems that is has something to do with the "downloads" app. As if it won't accept downloading through that app. Anybody else have similar problema/found a solution.
Also if somebody doesn't mind posting the downloads app (for stock 4.0.4 p7310) and see if I can delete then install to see if that works.

I once had that prob on a froyo rom on other device. Maybe the file u r dwding isnt supported by the device. I think dolphin browser can handle this bug. It has an external dwd manager.

The files are there. It's just the Download app doesn't know that they are. Use a file explorer to look in /sdcard/Download

Thank you both for replying. After flashing a rom and still not being able to download stuff I done some cleaning up I my sdcard partion. I Found a "file" called downloads.txt. After deleting the file downloads can now happen. I believe the problem is caused but how Android manages downloads. As the was no directory for downloads it was trying to download items into /sdcard/downloads. As that directory was a file (not even sure how that one happened) and not a folder it would attempt then fail.
You should change. txt to the original file extension e.g. zip

Download unsuccessful all browsers

I am unable to download files from any web browser I have installed ... Stock, boat, dolphin, opera.
They all say download unsuccessful.
I can however download apps through play store. Browsing websites is working okay.
Anyone else having this problem. It is quite frustrating.
CM10.1 ROM build 4
Thanks.

Just confirming, do you have enough free space on your sd card? Sounds a bit silly, but most of the times when downloads fail even on a stable connection, it's due to this.
Apps from play store are downloaded onto the data partition, so they get downloaded even if the sd card is full.
Also, many free file servers have incompatibility with mobile browsers.

My SD card does have enough free space.
Strange as it has only been happening since I moved to jelly bean.
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk 2
When I moved to JB I found out that, don't know why, my downs were going into de internal memory. Only by a root explorer I could go there and move to SD card. Thus, I couldn't down anything as I was without memory.
What is interesting is that I have just tried downloading a file from goo.im and it worked. I think the earlier post regarding the types of website sounds plausible. So my next question.... is there a web browser available that is not affected by this problem?
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk 2
I use firefox for downloads as it has never failed me when I need to download something. All my other browsers will sometimes fail the download or download a .htm file, making it useless. Firefox has never had this problem for me, and always download the file. Hope I helped, and good luck.
