today i have flashed stock gingerbread rom jpjv6
everything go great i used odin v3 1.8 no repartition & no pit
when the phone turn on every program is force closing expect system programs.
did i do something wrong or what do you think is the problem?
did you try wiping it? i always factory reset after i upgrade or use a new rom so i rarely have problems esp problems like that
Wipe Dalvik cache from Recovery first, and fix permissions. See if it helps...

Then do a factory reset, as said.
Thanks alot. I did a cache wipe then a factory reset.
Everything is okay now.
(what do you mean with fix permissions?)

It's an option in CWM Recovery. It usually helps fix FCs.

Guys I for a sec thought my phone was haunted!!
Steps I followed-
Was on Simplicity(tried from SURFACE too) Rom, did not wipe anything.. just went to download mode from Power menu Options.
Download JVZ base from SamMobile.
Flash via Odin.(YES, repartition was ticked)
Wait for it to reboot.
Then I see 4-5 things giving force close, and the worst part was that all the previous apps including Superuser were still there all forceclosing.. !!!
The same happened all times (4)...
Did anybody face the same problem? Is there a solution or something?
After flashing a new ROM (no matter what ROM) you have to do a Factory Reset and install your Apps from scrach. This is the best solution.
But you try first with few hope to delete Cache and Davlik from CWM Recovery Menu. If it wont work, try factory reset. Back-up your files becouse it will delete them all.

Agree with this, if not you might find alot of your apps will keep force closing
Guys did u understand the situation first of all? What are u telling?
I am telling here that Odin wipes every partition and all apps are removed if u flash a ROM through ODIN but when I flashed JVZ through Odin, it actually didn't wipe anything surprisingly!!
Apps were still there and fc-ing..

Man, calm down a bit, will you?
I've flashed Odin ROMs many times, and I can tell you that not every time you flash (even with repartition enabled) your phone will be completely wiped.
But then, as stated before, you should do a factory reset. Is it so difficult to go to settings>backup and restore>reset factory data? I don't think so.
Bye!
PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION! TO GET US SOME UPDATING LOVE!!!!!
SIGN AND SIGN AND SIGN!!!! THEN SING!,.......: http://www.change.org/petitions/sam...clears some things. Now lets flash some ROMs!
quick question, if you do a factory reset with odin and start from scratch, should you delete everything that is on your internal SD? Would that be a full complete wipe?
That is a FULL wipe but thats not what im talking about. Just the internal phone stuff.
what is formatted when you click to format /boot? for some reason I always thought that formatted the boot loader so I dared not touch that, but now I'm realizing how stupid it would be to even put that option there and how many more phones would have been bricked at this point. anyway when I install a new rom I pretty much wipe everything (including dalvik) except for /boot and /emmc ( I even formated the external recently but moved back images, efs backup, and avatar), then mount /sdcard, insert rom then flash, fix permissions.
formats the boot animation?
or after the VIBRANT logo
it's a ritual for me whenever i install a new rom to go through this installation method. I also notice that i tend to experience far less "bugs" then others.
Odin to Stock JFD
using the update.zip flash CWR
flash ROM (bootloops after updating CWR)
3 button into recovery
mounts and storage menu
format the following
-System
-Cache
-Data
-Data/Data
advanced Menu
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Flash Rom Again
Fix Permissions
Reboot
wait 5 Minutes
Reboot
complete the 1 time google setup
Install your apps Without data
reboot to recovery
Clear Cache/Dalvik fix permissions
Reboot
Play
I use this method from everything from 2.2-miui-ics never a hickup!
Format system wipes the internal sd basically?

Just being curious because some say it isn't cleared in the Factory Reset. Some ROM and kernel devs do suggest clearing Dalvik Cache after doing a Factory Reset because it prevents some apps giving FCs after flashing a new ROM.
Side note: I wipe dalvik about once every two weeks whether I am flashing or not. Helps with cleaning up corpses and getting better RAM usage. Thanks for the info Alan.
extra post :/
Nice find!
..now bend over.
One question Alan.
Can I Odin to stock from ICS passion just like we go from gingerbread or froyo from? Or is there a special way to get back to stock jfd? I want to try out jcc from but I don't know if I could just Odin to stock from passion. Thanks

What you using to reinstall apps and/or app data? Everytime I install a new ROM, I lose all my data connected to an app. For example, I play Drag Racing and you have to create a new login name everytime I install a new ROM. I would like to at least save the data related to that app.

When flash with stock rom with odin, the phone no pass from galaxy s picture a reboot and reboot again and try to restore with cmw and the same problem. How i can get the stock rom again? Thanks
wiped AND cleared cache and dalvik?
No, i try this and tell you later...
No man. wipe cache, wipe dalvik, eips factory data and do the same problem, reboot and reboot. But re-install ics and work ok. Another suggestion?
Did you use the option Re-partition in Odin when you flashed back to stock?

What build number is your phone? Didi you use 1 click jf6? You don't need repartition since its been proven the "safe" KF1 1 click doesn't repartition and works just fine.
I trying UCKK4 and flashing with odin and wipe everything. I brick the phone, i think that because the phone show the sing of dead and unbricked thanks to ONE CLICK unbrikable for windows posted by AdamOutler. uuufffffff this safe my phone jajajaja.
Problem Solved....
Advice please...stuck at bootscreen! (followed instructions in crash thread s follows
1. Was on rocket rom v10 with notecore.
2. Flashed abyss
3. 3 wipes + JBroid cleaner
4. Flashed crash 8.2
5. Rebooted
6. Stuck on 'galaxy note' boot screen, tried rebooting. Still stuck. (waited over 10 minutes)
Advice please!!
Did you try booting to recovery and flashing again? Or try clearing cache and delvik cache.

Yes, tried booting into recovery and wiping again, didn't work. Tried reflashing, still stuck. Tried flashing a different kernel, still stuck.
What's going on?!
Edit: I'm suspecting JBroid might be the issue here..have flashed in the past with no problem but this time decided to use JBroid (as advised in crash thread)..
When you say wiping, do you mean factory reset or wiping cache? If those didn't work flash a stable CM9 kernel, reboot in recovery, and then try to flash again.

Tried both. First just wiping cache/dalvik, then just doing factory reset (after installing notecore because of mmc_erase bug). Neither worked! The only kernels I have on my sd are notecore, abyss. Running out of options..may just try flasing rocket rom again..

Try flashing a pre rooted stock GB firmware and see if you get the phone to work. Then, try flashing from there.

Flashed back to RR v10 without any problems. Not sure why Crash wouldn't install but that was quite a scare!

Really digging the positive advice from everyone, thanks! It was a bad download. Downloaded again and flashed just fine =D.

Ok, I had the NULL problem with the keyboard and stupidly tried to re-flash the ROM I had on my external_sd card using Mobile Odin Pro.
The ROM image was ICS 4.0.4 N7000DXLR2_N7000OLBLR1_N7000DXLR1_HOME.tar.md5 which has been working fine for a few months.
This didn't work and all I'm getting now is a partially working phone with the messages
"Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped". and "Unfortunately, TwLaincher has stopped" and similar.
I tried using PC Odin to re-load an older version of GB 3.5 but the result is the same.
I'm totally out of my depth here so will probably need to take it to a Samsung Service Centre but if anyone has the patience to suggest anything I can try, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks in advance
Trevor
I got that message before (even when I had flashed stock GB), usually the workaround for that is to just 'Wipe Cache partitioned' and 'Wipe Dalvic Cache'... all in CWMR. Those messages would clear itself out next time you bootup your phone. No need for you to return that back to SSC.
But the phone still works right ?
Just simply flash a stock GB ROM using PC Odin and do a data wipe in the stock recovery....
The problem will be fixed...

Thanks a lot for the reply. I just discovered that doing wipe/hard reset fixed it (I didn't do Wipe Dalvic cache. I haven't learned what that it is yet).
I then used PC Odin to install latest ICS and then followed Dr Ketan's instructions for rooting. All worked pretty well but I was panicking back there when the phone started to really screw around. Phew. I'm relieved.
Thanks again.

It was booting up but not working at all with all the fatal errors. But you're right. All it needed was a wipe and hard reset. I was trying to install ROMs thinking it would clear the problem. I learned a lot today.
Thanks again.
Trevor
Why posting multiple threads for the same problem?? U already have another thread for this...
