[Q] Is JVZ(Odin flash) a non wipe? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys I for a sec thought my phone was haunted!!
Steps I followed-
Was on Simplicity(tried from SURFACE too) Rom, did not wipe anything.. just went to download mode from Power menu Options.
Download JVZ base from SamMobile.
Flash via Odin.(YES, repartition was ticked)
Wait for it to reboot.
Then I see 4-5 things giving force close, and the worst part was that all the previous apps including Superuser were still there all forceclosing.. !!!
The same happened all times (4)...
Did anybody face the same problem? Is there a solution or something?

After flashing a new ROM (no matter what ROM) you have to do a Factory Reset and install your Apps from scrach. This is the best solution.
But you try first with few hope to delete Cache and Davlik from CWM Recovery Menu. If it wont work, try factory reset. Back-up your files becouse it will delete them all.

Agree with this, if not you might find alot of your apps will keep force closing

Guys did u understand the situation first of all? What are u telling?
I am telling here that Odin wipes every partition and all apps are removed if u flash a ROM through ODIN but when I flashed JVZ through Odin, it actually didn't wipe anything surprisingly!!
Apps were still there and fc-ing..

Man, calm down a bit, will you?
I've flashed Odin ROMs many times, and I can tell you that not every time you flash (even with repartition enabled) your phone will be completely wiped.
But then, as stated before, you should do a factory reset. Is it so difficult to go to settings>backup and restore>reset factory data? I don't think so.
Bye!

This may sound stupid but you didnt say athing about it.... Did you actually clear cache?
Start the phone with 3 button combo (vol up + home + power) you will enter recovery menu, select wipe cahe there
Yes i did all of the above. I tried clearing the cache wiping data/factoriy reset over recovery mode. I tried factori reset through OPTIONS/PRIVACY and i tried factory reset through keycode *# etc....

Yes. I flashed through the Odin a couple of times with couple of settings. Settings were mostly RE-PARTITION checked, AUTO REBOOT CHECKED AND F. RESET TIME checked. That is it.PDA, PHONE and CSC files includeed in firmware afcourse. With pit file. One question. What is the difference between pit 512 and 803? Which pit did i have when i bought the phone?
I personally would remove sd card and sim card ( MAKE SURE YOU DO AS IT WILL WIPE THEM), boot to recovery using the 3 button method, mounts and storage, format/sdcard then wipe cache, factory wipe then pull the battery off, boot to download connect to odin and do a new flash using a pit 512, PDA,PHONE and CSC. This should stick your phone back to almost factory depending on what version of android you flash. If you want a good customizable rom with fantastic battery life, then I recommend the galaxydroid 3.3, (not the 4.0 as you lose half of the toys)

One more question. If i do what you told me to do and i revert to Firmware 2.1 will i be able to use waranty nad told them that i didn't touch the phone firmware or am i in deep s**t?!
resolve
Did you resolve your problem?
If not, did you try to flash it via ODIN or heimdall?
NOT SURE
Hi, I want to ask you all if i do all of the above firmware flashing etc.. will i be able to use waranty after that if flashing doesn't works for me?
Well if you flash a stock firmware for your region they won't be able to tell any difference.
You made mi day man! Greets bud!

Welcome
also when you get to this situation then just go to recovery and wipe data
what four files package does is it have data.rfs which wipe the data while flashing and no bootloop appears
so actually four files are not compulsary but it will also work without any problem

[Q] Flash stock ROM by Odin dont erase all user data?

I was surprised that after flashing stock ROM by ODIN, phone was not cleaned from the user data.
I mean: account settings, applications installed by user, etc.
I know that flashing dont erase data from internal/external SD card, but why all data was still exist?
Only Wipe Data / Factory Reset will erase all user data?
Btw, Merry Xmas

Nope, factory reset will not erase all user data. Go into setting/storage and delete from there (not sure cause I didn't have the device now). If you want to erase using odin, tick the repartition box while flashing the firmware. This is the easiest way I think.
Odin flash doesn't wipe user apps and their data, but it may cause bugs if you come from another ROM...
E.g : if u soft bricked on stock JB, just odin flash is necessary.
for other ROMs, it may or may not lag.
I will describe my way.
I tried to install CM 10.2
I did factory reset, next steps follow procedure.
When I did first start, unfortunately keyboard stop working, so my cyjanogen install failed and I decided back to old system using backup.
After restore and start, phone required settings like on first start after factory reset.
Lol, big surprise.
Ok, I entered necessary information but after reset -
again same like after factory reset
I tried from another backup with same result.
Hmm, big mess.
So I flash stock ROM by Odin.
And new surprise - phone with fresh system and all my own settings and applications from last restore.
Two disappointments:
1. Restore from backup does not cause a return to the initial state.
2. Flash ROM by Odin don't make factory state of phone.
I have question, if format partitions: system and data and next restore backup will do real state phone on this backup?

1. Almost every restore from backup for me it returned phone on state when backup was made. Only if my backup was bad (did not have enough place on sd for backup or something corrupted it).
2. Flashing stock ROM by Odin do not touch data partition (or folder whatever it is). So if you want to erase that, you need to make factory reset. It is like that on every Samsung Android device - I am not sure for other, never used.
When you come back from any CM10.2, Omni 4.3 and CM11 based ROM - first flash stock with Odin, do factory reset - and after that restore backup (ofcourse first root, install CoCore kernel for CWM before restore - you can't use restore in stock recovery).
Tnx for answers.
This is weird that format system partition not enough to get rid of the CM
But I checked this again and exactly after refresh ROM by Odin - restore my settings and data works fine.
Hmm imo this is mess in whole Android system

Explanation for that, TeamJanica used preload partition for swap, and it is patitioned in other format than the one stock ROM use. That partition is not used on CM for files, but it has it's use on stock based ROM.

supposedly you have downloaded the stock FW, flash via Odin with re-partition ticked. if it fails, extract the PIT file from CSC_OMC_OXM_XXX save it in a location and load it at the pit session via Odin the re-flash again with re-partition ticked.

[Q] Phone Stuck At Boot Animation Screen

Hello Everybody, My phone is Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 and I have an issue.I am the one who is changing rom constantly.I was using the rom named ''Xperiance-Ace-v4_Sky_Walker_Studios'' for a long time.Lately i loaded another rom, 2 hours after i used, The phone was closed by itself, I tried open phone again but it stayed at boot animation screen. After that, I thought that rom is spoilt, I tried other roms but they stayed at boot animation screen as well.I tried all of roms that i have but result was same.I thought that i should try the rom which i was using before all those problems started. So i flashed Xperiance-Ace-v4_Sky_Walker_Studios Rom.Bizarre but it worked. When it opened i have faced with some pop-up ''android upgrading 0/70'' when it finished (70/70) i was at homescreen and all of my apps that i downloaded when i was using this rom at old days was there. It was so weird, And all aplications started to stop itselves and i even havent touched any of them. Like ''Unfortunately Whatsapp has stopped'' ''Unfortunately contacts has stopped'' ''Unfortunately facebook has stopped'' finally they all stoped working and i tried open applications, No application opened even contacts.
Present state: Only one rom is working, Others staying at boot animation screen and the rom which is working actually not working, Only phone is opening, No application working
What is the Problem? What Should i do? I am waiting your answers, THANKS.

I suggest you install the stock rom using odin. It seems you have some corrupted files. Before flashing the stock rom, do Format Data/ Factory Reset, Format Cache Partitions, Mount & Storage> Format /system, Wipe Dalvik Cache and Wipe Battery Stats. Once you have flashed the stock rom, go to recovery mod and do Wipe Data/ Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition (otherwise bootloop might occur). After that install root and CWM from the recovery mod. Now you can install any other custom rom without any problem. Do post your results. Hope I Helped
When i connect phone to the computer, connecting text under phone logo is occuring in kies, But not connecting

And there is no problem about driver because pc is recognizing the phone which means it's was already updated.

Try installing CWM 5 from the recovery mod. CWM 5 is much more stable than CWM 4. Once you have installed CWM 5, do Format Data/ Factory Reset, Format Cache Partitions, Mount & Storage> Format /system, Wipe Dalvik Cache and Wipe Battery Stats. Then try to flash any working rom with it. Here is the link,

Help..

I've been running the SOKP ROM which runs kitkat 4.4.4 and I decided to give this phone to my younger bro, but he says he wants the original samsung ROM so I download the ROM from sammobile and also the latest philz kernel. I flashed the kernel from recovery and rebooted, wiped dalvik/cache, formatted system/cache/preload and then flashed the ROM...
BUT..
when I flash the ROM, it starts and then the installation aborts on its own. I've tried it a few times. Did all the wipes again, still no luck.
Can anyone please tell me how to switch from the SOKP rom to TW ? I tried the same method last time and it worked, but this time it just doesn't go that way... What am I doing wrong?
Just use odin, don't use your recovery
Flash with Odin
Go into recovery mode
Wipe data
Reboot
?
Profit!
Thing is, I've never used Odin before and I'm not sure how its supposed to work..
Can you tell me if its correct please..
I rebooted to download mode and the phone just says "Downloading.. Don't turn off target" (This is the first time I started download mode so I'm not sure if it was supposed to say that)
Does Odin show a sign which tells us the phone is connected? (Sammobile says "Wait till blue sign appears in odin".. I didn't see any)
Does the yellow triangle appear if we flash the stock ROM or is it only for custom ROMs?
Edit : I tried to add the .zip file to AP but it won't add.. And there's so many options here they confuse me.. I'm scared :crying:
