I'm new also but, I had to do the same thing.. Do a search on RUU > its a program that will load the stock rom etc. back onto your phone. You'll also need HTC sync.. Both of those need to be run from your pc. Good luck.

Thank you
But I do not think you understand, I am unable to fully turn my phone on and my computer will not detect the device unless it is fully loaded.
I have heard of term like fast boot and have no idea how to make my device do that.
is there like a terminal i can use with the android sdk?

Just a Suggestion but if you hold Volume Down and Power On the phone can you see Any Options... Such as Bootloader, HBoot, or Factory Reset?
If so, Try the Factory Reset Option!
Other than that you can Probably use the FastBoot Option by plugging in your USB wire!

when did you buy your wing???
and are you using flashcenter ?? so it can temporary cid unlock the device?
i got my wing in feb or march 08. yes i do have flash center, and i have used it w/o problems before. i have flashed from touch it to open touch and one of aserg's roms too. i have been using OT 4 lite black for weeks now. i have been watching the threads about the new OT 5. so i downloaded it and nothing new is flashing.
does this help any?

Please provide more details as to how your trying to flash your device.
Are you using the standard activesync method or via SD?

iwas hoping not to bother any of the main guys with this little problem, but i'm glas your here (love your OT's btw ). ok, i am using the standard activesync method.
heres what i do:
1. download new rom and put it inside my RUU folder on my computer's C drive.
2. run the herald-uspl.exe.
3. follow the prompts
thats all i do and it used to work. i don't know if this helps, but it's the only other thing i have been doing diff. on another thread i asked if it was ok to delete old roms out of my RUU folder. i actually removed my OT v4 lite black and then put the OT v5 UL and ran the uspl. do you think thats what it is? maybe you have to have your old version in the RUU before you flash to a new version?
hope this helps
No. You don't have to have anything but your newest ROM in the RUU folder. When flashing, the phone doesn't know or care what you currently have flashed, unless that ROM is causing problems with your active sync. If that's the case, place your phone into bootloader mode, install the stock ROM (unless you have a HardSPL phone, and it sounds like you don't since you're using USPL.) Then boot up the ROM and run the USPL.
ok, so now know what to do, but why did this happen? whats wrong with the herald-uspl?
i just checked my device info and it says im running open touch v3! i thought that i was using v4. i have hard-spl downloaded, but i dont know if i need to use it or not. should it? then try to flash?
Unlock your phone with hars spl then run the exe from ruu folder. This method worked for me. I did not try the other way since my phone is unlocked but it should work aswell.

I'm sure you already did this, but I'll throw it out there. Did you leave the original .nbh file in the ruu folder? I don't think you can have more than one .nbh file in that directory.

OT-5UL looks great all around. this is my first time with ultimatelaunch, so thats cool too. i haven't been able to go thru the posts for some of the fix issues. the only thing i'm a bit bummed about is the amount of memory left after the flash (program-20) i'll keep playing with it. hey thanks again for the fix

i'm too scared to hardspl. i have the download, but not the nuts to try it. whats the hype about it anyway? it seems like some sort of badge for people in here. not you, but you know what i mean?
i'm gonna let the pro's go as far as they can with the OT V5 UL version and then probably go back to v4. gonna miss the UL (damn).

The HardSPL makes it so that if you flash a bad flash, you don't have to flash into the Stock RUU again just to get a working activesync connection to be able to flash again.
Courtesy of Ivanmmj
Step 1. Download Herald-USPL-Beta3. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A4N36HLO
Step 2. UnZIP the file into a folder on your Desktop. Let's call it "MyFirstROM" for simplicity's sake. Notice that there is a folder called RUU within this folder now. Keep that in mind.
Step 3. Download your NBH file and unZIP or unRAR it into that RUU folder. Make sure that that NBH file ends up in the RUU folder, not within a folder inside the RUU folder.
Step 4. Place your phone into flightmode.
Step 5. Go back to the MyFirstROM folder and then run USPL.exe
Step 6. Follow the directions on the screen. EXACTLY.
* Your screen on your cell phone will go white around the 75% part of the "second step" now.
* ActiveSync will LOOSE its connection.
Step 7. One step 3 on that black window, the RUU flasher will pop up. Just follow the steps.

Hey, I was scared for a LONG time to do it...I read so much info before I finally decided to do it! It took me like 2 weeks of reading before I decided. It's an EXTREMELY simple process. Plus, it makes flashing easier. I was getting weird errors trying the USPL method sometimes. Anyway, just do this.
FIRST, make sure your IPL number is atleast 4.000 or higher. You can check this by holding the camera button down, and then doing a soft reset. HOld the camera button down till you enter the bootloader menu. (It's like 3 gradient colors).
If it's higher, great, you are ready to proceed.
Next, download this file.
http://rapidshare.de/files/38148213/...l_WM6.rar.html
Unzip it, and it will contain 3 .cab files you need to install in a certain order.
1. Install canonyang.cab
2. Next, aserpolicy.cab
3. disablesecurity.cab.
Do a soft reset.
Put phone in flight mode!!!!
Now, go to the folder you just unzipped that file from. I think the default folder will be called hard-splwm6 or something like that. Go and run the RUU.exe file in it. Just follow the instructions. The screen of your phone will go white, but just wait, wait, and it will reboot itself.
Presto, you are hard spl, and can load whatever rom you wish!

Impossible?

Oh my goodness.. Your not supposed to keep flashing the spl over again.and you not supposed to flash it over the rom. Once you have the spl flashed, thats it. you dont have to flash it again.Wipe your data, dalvik, and ext partiton. i reccomend installing amon-ra recovery. Once you do that, flash the rom. and reboot.
stick with RA recovery...
and follow the instructions above..
If it's stuck on the G1 screen, then you have a brick my friend. There is still nothing you can do about it, even though some people have been able to unbrick.

I believe I know what he is talking about although I cannot help hiim with his situation. He has not bricked his phone. He is referring to the fact that when he tries to flash certain ROMs it just gets to the G1 logo on the first boot. I am having the same problem on the recent mods of the Supereclair rom I introduced (since 2.2). He can remove his battery and then go into recovery mode to either nandroid back to another ROM or flash a new one (at least, I can )
This doesn't make it any less frustrating with the ROMs that do this however. If anyone knows of a solution to this, I am sure we both would appreciate it.
So he reflashed the Hard SPL in hope of....

Thanx dude! I believe that you understand me very well despite my low level english.
I am French. Understand me guys!
In fact my phone is not bricked (since i can access the SPL and Recovery)
I always use a Super D's ROM.
But the problem is that i can't install some ROMs as SuperEclair 2.1 JitHack by Lfd-signed and many others.
When i try with RA-dream and Hard SPL, i get an error.
And when i try an installation with RA-dream and Haykuro's SPL, the installation proceeds without error, but my phone still planted on the logo "G1".
I must have to restart all again by reflashing with "DREAIMG.nbh", then rooted it.
If anyone has a solution, it will be welcome!

If you read the requirements of most 2.1 roms they will state that you need Haykuro's SPL (aka Danger, Death). Now that you have installed the SPL (and hopefully you have the right radio) reboot back to recovery, wipe your ext partition (preferably ext 3 since not all support ext 4), wipe your data and dalvik-cache, reflash the 2.1 rom, plug it into your computer and run ddms.bat and click to bring up the logcat. If it seems to get to a point where it loops over and over again and your device doesn't boot click cancel and copy the contents of the logcat and post it here. Someone will help you figure it out. Good luck.

I guess you didn't read this part of what I said:
"Now that you have installed the SPL (and hopefully you have the right radio)..."
I'm sorry that you bricked your phone. Look at the bright side:
G1 phones are getting cheap (REAL CHEAP)
Depending on how long you had it you can upgrade to another device (WARNING: No full custom roms for the new mytouch yet)
I know that it's not much of a bright side but hey what else can you do.
Possibly purchase a G1 online with a cracked screen and swap out either the screen/digitizer or the motherboard of the two devices. Worth a shot.
Bro thank you for your compassion! (YES)
It's like a balm that you put me on the heart, because it really hurts to lose something that you really consider!
But know that I did not do it on purpose. I simply forgot to upgrade the radio after having downgraded it(I reflash it with DREAIM.nbh), and I flashed the SPL (Danger SPL)!
So I was euphoric!!!
That I was stupid!!!
Thank you for your advice, but I think I'll opt for a Magic or a Hero
until I have enough to buy a Nexus One!
Life goes on ...

It's not bricked, you can just do what waffles said above, and you will be able to flash the correct ROM.
However, please be very careful not to flash the wrong type of radio to your phone, otherwise it *will* be permanently bricked.
Dear waffles510,
It worked. Thanks, many thanks. I walked around with my spare Nokia today wich was a nightmare. I missed al the tools on the TP2.
Now I wonder why I need to connect with the WMDC normally.

[Q] Bricked??

I received a G1 from a friend, this isn't actually the first G1 i've rooted. I have one of my own, and I have done about 3 others without any problems what so ever.
I'm not exactly sure what went wrong. I had flashed the recovery, following the cyanogen wiki, and when I got to the flashing the Hard SPL part, i flashed it, (and the radio) and i restarted, and thats it. It just stays at the G1 screen.
No combination of keys work. Home + Power. Camera + Power. Nada.
From most of the threads I've found, I can almost say its a brick, but I just wanted to double check that theres nothing I can do (ADB?).
Thanks!

Did you even understand what happened? How's and what is he supposed to do over again if he can't get into bootloader or recovery?
OP, Sorry to say, you have a brick.

looks like i've done similar to the OP --> flashed a non EBI1/32A radio.
Now it just hangs on the HTC Dream splash screen.
Yeah, looks like were **** out luck lol. I ended up buying a Magic Slide. Whats weird is that i flashed the radio B4 the spl.

sent it back to the SP with a story of how during the flash the computer crashed. here's to hoping.
got the phone back after being charged about $25 to repair.
anyway this time i read the instructions properly. left the radio on 3.22.20.17 and then installed the one click root and flashrec apps. I then rooted the phone, download Anon-RA's recovery image with flashrec. I then followed the cyanogen wiki and froyo is now running on it.

Thanks!

It definitely sounds like you have a hard brick. I think the only way to fix your phone is to JTAG JTAG it. Which I have no idea how that works or how to reload the software on your phone.

[Q] Got HTC Dream - learn 2 put CM6? on it.

Hi guys and girls,
First of all here's a little bit background:
I always liked Nokia (GSM's!). My first mobile was Alcatel OT Easy db if i'm not mistaken. After that i had several Nokia's. And then for many years i have used Sharp GX25. While i was using it, GSM world has quite changed. The only GSM i saw like perfect (because of the small size) was Modu mobile at the time. But i couldn't get it anywhere. And the iPhone is like cool. But to bulky for a GSM and to expensive for a thing to call with. When the battery of the GS25 died completely i was thinking how am i going to choose now? ^^ The only thing that i liked was Modu mobile but i couldn't get it anywhere. I don't really cared a lot about some features and so on. Because to get into choosing a phone now, to choose wisely, best for the money, is like spending so much time..
I'm often sending sms to a group of like 20 people. So i bought LG Neon. First cheapest full keyboard gsm i came across. I was thinking you know, Nokia is like the best ever, or has been for me, but i have to give something else a chance. Although i liked the full keyboard it was a really bad experience. But i learned something. So after that i remembered, that i was thinking sometimes, if iPhone was a little bit smaller and cheaper i would buy it. But then i accidentally realized. There are so many ideas you can google. Lets try, cheaper iPhone alternative. So i found Nokia Tube (5800, second hand). I pretty liked it - cheap, compact, a lot of features. I discovered mobile email/gps/sip telephony!/calendar/touchscreen and other nice features of a smartphone. Symbian (Nokia) was still good for me. So now i became kind of accustomed to this nice features. But Tubes touchscreen wasn't really great ether. So i was looking out for some other, more advanced, full keyboard/touchscreen smartphone. Not necessary touch screen, but anyway, it would be nice. So for some time i have been looking on a second hand sites to get a second hand blackberry. Because after researching the question of mobile Emailing i came to a conclusion that Blackberry is the best in it. And even that Blackberry is maybe like the best smartphone of all because of user friendliness, design maybe, and a technological advancement. Like the Mac in a PC world. As i see on the video reviews Blackberry's interface looks more text based would i say. What in my eyes is perfect for a smartphone. I don't see a lot of sense in bells and whistles, or how is it said then in actual information. But!
About not mobile experiences:
It's already for a view years that i am using Linux on my desktop. Since the time when i have got the GX25 i guess. Because i have been quite interested in IT from when i was younger. And now later i already became IT professional and run some Linux servers to. And even my Mac Mini at home runs Linux. I find Mac OS X amusingly technologically advanced, easy to use, user friendly and all that. But i cant install it on my workstation and a laptop at work. So that's the practical reason i choose Fedora over any other OS. No fanaticism here. Because i'm Christian and i believe in Jesus Christ. Because from His words in Bible i learned, or got at least some kind of understanding of what is love actually. So i don't have to be religious about Mac or Linux.
The funny thing actually is, i have used Gnome 3 now for a view month already on Fedora. And a view days ago installed Lion on a Mac. Wow, they already put all the Gnome 3's features in Lion, like first Spaces and now Mission control and Launchpad. ^^
Now, closer to the business - CM6? Dream:
So finally i was thinking, what else can i get, then android. I actually nearly bought Blackberry 8520 pretty cheap. But G1 compared to it has GPS and AutoFocus. And it runs Linux *thumbs up* \o/
Now, when i got the package from Netherlands view days ago. The guy have put CyanogenMod 6 on it for me. But after a day of use i discovered that when you call to me you go straight to voice mail. And i pretty liked CyangenMod's interface although i had an idea, from youtube videos that Hero rom would be nicer(visually). Google apps were not installed ether. So i googled a little bit. And At some places they said that you have to install google apps. But it didn't work. I tried installing it, but always got message about making recovery backup. And then after reboot still no Gapps installed. The phone came with a sd card with cyanogenmod rom on it and two hero roms. Off course before buying it, i already searched for some info. And went to CM wiki. And first questions that arised for me were: how do i determine which radio does the phone has? When i emailed this question to a guy from who i bought the phone he said that someone else has put Hero on it for him. So before he sent it to me he had put CM6 on it. This is i think where the trouble with calling is from. So i played a day with CM6. And using the ROM manager have put Hero on it back. Because seeing video reviews i thought it looked cooler. But now i have an impression, while using Hero rom, like CM6 was better. Like more tweaks and so on. So another question: What are actually benefits of CM6 compared to Hero rom, and vice versa? And the other question is: How do i put CM6 back? Because i don't find ROM manager in the menu anymore. Do i have to install it again? And by the way. I have made a recovery backup when rom manager asked me to do it while trying to install gapps. But doesn't matter a lot i guess. Because people couldn't call me there anyway. And here on Hero it works. I ask myself does the firmware for radio sit in the rom or not? (Ohh, and i actually just realised something, rereading the post here, and checking for errors. Would the radio rom be something like phones bios? And ROM like phones os?)
And also i'm confused a little bit about the process of flashing now. On the wiki i read bout installing DangerSPL and so on. But i have put Hero now just using ROM manager. Has it become easier or how does it work today? Also i ask myself which CM version is like optimal for Dream? To get some nice features but not getting to slow? I guess it would be 6 right?
Okay, hopefully someone can share some knowledge with me about all that rom flashing thing. Or point me to the right direction. Where to start reading.
Thanks in advance,
Sincerely yours,
Nikolai
versions info
Ok, i figured something.
Im reading the "HTC Dream: Installing CyanogenMod 5+" wiki page and heres the info i found so far:
DREAM PVT 32B ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-1.22.2005 (DREA11000)
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.22.19.26I

HBOOT
Parsing...[DREAIMG.nbh]
[1] RADIO_V2
[2] BOOTLOADER
[3] RECOVERY
[4] BOOT
[5] SPLASH1
[6] SYSTEM
[7] USERDATA
Do you want to start update?
<ACTION> Yes
<POWER> No
============================
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7 (the version)

ROM's on the SDcard:
update-cm-6.1.0-DS-signed.zip
gapps-mdpi-tiny-20101020-signed.zip

zx2.1hero.v1.5.1.zip
update.ZX1.5Hero.v2.0.1.zip
dream_magic.2.22.19.26i.zip
Now i expect that offcourse DangerSPL is already installed so i skip this part. Only the version numbers are different. Wiki says 33 and my phone says 22. Then i see there the line tat says: "Select USB_MS toggle" - what does this suppose to mean?
ok
Ok i figured it. Rebooted into the recovery mode. Flashed CM6.1. Ended up in reboot loop. Googled. Wiped. Reflashed. And now it works. Working CM6.1 with working recieving calls.
THanks you guys.
DangerSPL
Hi agane,
The guy from who i bought the phone told me that i have to flash in this order:
-Wipe cache/data
-Install zip: de gewenste ROM
-Install zip: Google apps tiny
-Install zip: DangerSPL
But i havent done DangerSPL. Does it matter?
given that u already are running danger spl,u neednt flash it again, unless u upgrade ur radio and have to flash the corresponding spl....
ok thanks
Ok thanks, that's what i was thinkig.
Froyo by Lazslo
Hi guys,
im back to hacking ^^
well since i work and do alot other things i just bought a Blackberry 9780 and hapily used it all the time since i last posted here. And device is great. I like it alot. There was just a little issue i tought would be nice if it could be fixed. So i asked the retailer i bought it from to send it to BB. The stuttering keyboard is it. Google if u wanna know.
So now. Since i had blackberry i havent used Dream anymore. But back in the time i last posted here the sales guy who sold me the BB had a Dream to. And he advised me to use the Froyo by Lazslo. So now after a view month im back at Dream. I actually pretty havent used it alot.
So now i took my Dream and flashed the froyo by lazslo on it. The slp and radio numbers u can see in my previous post. So not i got the G1 logo at boot and the phone isnt booting. I suppose i did not good just flashing it. Because spl and radio numbers mentioned in the froyo by lazslo thread are not the same as mine. But i thought ok lets try. Wiped and installed the froyo by lazslo rom. And now have G1 logo. Well if i push camera button when booting i get into fast boot.
But can i push some combination to get into recovery to flash for example atleast cgm that atleast worked for me? TO get back to working state? Or what can i do now further to get froyo by lazslo running on it? Does the G1 logo means its bricked or not? Because dont know really? Have googled and found that theres posibility to do something via cmd. Any more info on this?
I google further, but dont have alot of time,
Thanks in advance,
Nikolai

so now after getting into the recovery flashed cgm 6 back on it. and its working

There is no need to unroot and start from the beginning. I suggest you to learn how to use fastboot and then read in Terry's 2708 thread how to do the update.
Another hint: After you are on the "new" SPL/radio combo you should check twice whether the ROM you want to install supports this combo, otherwise you will stuck on the G1 screen ...
this
Hi,
the guy here explains some things,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYg3UmQd5y4
what if i download the radio and spl that i need for froyobylazslo and update them the same way thee guy in the video did. Is it gonna work?
p.s. it looks the link u gave is definitive place aboout that but its difficult to follow
On the first look it probably looks difficult, but if you want to root your phone, install unsupported radio and SPL on it, then it's worth to invest some time to learn a bit more of this topic. Otherwise, if you do something wrong or you follow a guide which doesn't comply to your current "configuration" of the phone , risks are high, that it will get bricked. Just my 0.02 cents.
Sent from my Gingerbread on Dream using XDA App
back
hi all,
im back to mess with it a littlebit,
I installed Anroid SDK, and now i want to start flashig via fastboot as described in the link posted above.
But i dont get how do i start a CMD. Just starting CMD and writing for example fastboot devices in CMD doesnt do anything.
Any suggestions please?
And yes im googling to.
Thanks,
Nikolai
First you need to connect your phone to your PC by USB and get it recognized. You can check that by opening a command line window on your pc and typing
adb devices
if your phone is in "normal" or in recovery mode. You should also check whether you enabled "USB Debugging" in Menu -> Settings -> Development.
You should get a list with your device.
To check fastboot, your phone needs to be in fastboot mode. Switch off and reboot by back-Button pressed. In this case the phone gets into the hboot screen.
Now you can type
fastboot devices
on the command line and if your phone gets recognized, you will see it in the list printed on the screen. If it is not recognized directly and serial0 is printed on the phone's screen, try to press the back button. Then "fastboot" should be written on the screen and you can re-try whether your phone will be recognized.
figured
ok i figured that i had to download the fastboot file mentioned here
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Fastboot
And the system variable path needed to be configured right.
now i dont have dll error but fastboot devices doesnt show anything,
adb devices does

spoofspl?
Do i have also to do this?
> A Rom (note: many cm6 based roms block install because of the '1.33.0013d' bootloader Please use firerat's SpoofSPL)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9068311&postcount=84
Depends, what you want to do. Normally this spoofing is needed only when you want to install a ROM which officially isn't supported, but you know that it is runnig with your SPL. Especially when using cMTD you change the partition layout and some ROMs check with the SPL whether the ROM fits into the system partition or not.
