hey i just got a question. i had flashed serendipity VII and my battery ran out all the way.left my phone on my desk and my nephew was playing with it and got the phone in download mode, the phone had some battery enough i guess to get into download mode but then the battery drained all the way while in download mode. Now i cant charge my phone, keeps rebooting into the screeen that shows that the battery is charging but it dosent charge just reboots into the same screeen. not able to get into download mode or recovery with any button combos. is this a soft brick that can be able to be fixed with a new battery and download mode jig sold by mobiletechvideos? Or is this a hard brick only able to be fixed with JTAG?

Well if it turns on it isn't hard bricked. I would try taking out sim and then charge. You might try to plug into computer and see if it charges but if it is bootlooping try and getting battery charged then get into download mode with adb.

Hi,
This wouldn't be referred to as a hard brick. There are actually several situations in which JTAG is a needed alternative despite not having a hard brick (usb port problems not allowing a flash, a phone won't go into download mode at all, severe partition bricking). In your scenario, leezrd has good advice. If you still can't get it, buy a new battery or borrow a buddies and get it turned back in to verify it's fine with a good battery.

Also, a JIG is always a good thing to have on the side.

.So you can get it to battery screen? By the way I don't think batteries come pre charged so gonna be in same situation. If you know someone with galaxy s phone charge from their phone and switch batteries to your phone.

Not to insult your intelligence but gingerbread download mode is volume down and power or volume down and usb. And recovery is volume up and power.
So if you can get in recovery you might be able to delete battery stats then try plugging in to are if charges.

It should be in this format MM.YY. In some cases, it could be like MM.YYYY too.
On a side track, if any of ur friends have a Captivate, I would recommend getting ur battery charged up atleast to some extent like 25% so u can fire up the phone into download mode and get started on recovering it.

is there any way I can charge my battery with this phone...i know i came to my sister's home..and they dont have samsung phones...so I have to wait 3 days to back home to chrage it
You should be able to charge it with the phone off. Just plug it in and a charging screen will appear.
If it last turned off by crashing you might need to pull the battery, put it back in, and then plug in. That's fixed mine before when it was nonresponsive to the charging cable after a bad flash attempt.

Really, I am going to try that again and again...May be I might get lucky, I have been flashing, soft bricking and doing everything on XDA since last September. but never had such problem.
A small suggestion: Next time on, pls ensure u have atleast a 60% battery, preferably 100%, when u flash. It would really help in just-in-case situations like this.
I do too flash when battery is as low as 10%, but well, I have another battery charged to atleast 75% lying around all the time
so yesterday i pulled my phone out of my pocket and it had shut off, i held down the power button and nothing? so i tried pulling the batt, going into recovery, download mode, my computer doesnt even make a noise when i plug it in! no battery charging screen.. nothin! even tried a different battery.
it appears that its dead... went to the at&t store and they want me to extend my contract for 2 years and buy a phone. not sure i want to stay with at&t, i think they suck! not crazy about the deal they offered me..
anyone have any tips or tricks i can try to get the phone to come back to life, any similar experiences?
i read about a power button issue, but i think im worse off than that, my pc doesnt even see it. if it were just the button i cant imagine that would affect the charging?
anyone got a captivate they want to sell? lol..
I had problem were mine wouldn't turn on and made a jig but had wrong prongs and made reboot mabey that help

I have an LG Revolution that will not enter emergency download mode, infact I can't even get the screen to turn on no matter what I do. What happened was the battery was alot less charged than I had thought during a restoration using LGNPST; and it seems that the battery died right in the middle of the restoration.
Ideas?
had this happen once, try leaving it wall charging for a while then plug it in via usb, while plugged in via usb after chargin remove and replace batt do hard reset with phone completely off (pow + vol down) lgnpst should start then.
That didn't work. The phone won't even charge.

You may have already tried but just in case try to enter emergency download mode by taking out the battery, then plug in usb to computer, then hold power and volume UP -- not down, and then while continuing to hold the buttons insert battery.

Tried it a million times.
Any luck yet? I'm curious how this turns out...
Anyway just a random thought I had... maybe you could take it in to a store and have them charge the battery for you. It might respond better with a full battery.
Just a total guess but you never know...

I've tried to charge the battery using a USB cable connected directly to the negative and positive on the battery, but I'm not quite sure if it charged the battery as the phone still doesn't respond. I'm going to take this phone and a hardbricked HTC Thunderbolt I've got into a Verizon store some time today or tomorrow. Thanks for the input.
Dear all,
Yesterday, my Galaxy tab p1000 used normally. However, today, I can't power it on. It can't be due to batterry because I remember I charged it fully. My tab is running ICS 4.0.4 and everything is okay. Now I try many ways but it doesn't make any flash
Do you know what the error is? How to force it to power on?
I have tried to go to recovery mode and download mode but in vain. It seem deadly.
Hi
when you connect it to your computer, is it showing in sign of life? (on odin or heimdal) if it's a No, try to let it charge for 4 hours and then try to get it in recovery or download mode, if you get nothing, then look in YouTube for a video to how open your tab and unplug the battery for 5 minutes and plug it back, if nothing happen, get a new battery
ps : if your tab is still on warranty, don't do anything from above, get it to Samsung and let them do their Job.
best regards ^_^

Maybe it's time to upgrade to build 40?
Have you tried to go to recovery mode? download mode? or press the power button while plugged in to computer/or wall for more than 5 seconds?
it has no signs of life. I have tried every ways I know: go to recovery mode, download mode, plug-in computers... Perhaps I have to open it to do something with the battery. But, it have just changed it full a day ago. It can't run out of batterry so quickly.

you can't assume that the battery isn't dead, even if you charged it fully a day before, and maybe if you unplug it and plug it back it will came to life, we don't know

I had the same problem. I opened mine up and unplugged the battery for an hour. Then I charged it for 24 hours. Tap the screen and keep hitting the power button. That's how I got mine working. I hope this helps
P.s if you have warranty. Just send it in

I brought it to a warranty centre and they said the IC is dead. (the chip to power on) They asked me for 100$ for a new IC. hic hic. I didn't see they replaced it or not. Is there any way to check whether the new IC was replaced?
Hello.
I've left my phone in the hot sun for some time and it's not working anymore. When I try to power it on, the LG logo appears and screen+buttons flash continnously as if it's struggling to start but can't. *this is on battery, not plugged it.
When I plug it in charger It powers up, everything is working but it eventually reboots by itself. Sometimes it stays on 3 seconds, other times 2-3 mins, then reboots.
I've tryed wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, reinstall ROM, wipe battery stats..nothing works.
So basically if I plug out the charger it instantly shuts down and starts trying to power up in a continnous loop.
Is the battery dead?
Thanks
I think so... You could try another battery but it is possible that you may have fried some guts as well. Was it on when you cooked it in the sun?

It boots when I power it on charger, but if I try to make a phone call or 'stress' the phone, it reboots. Without charger it does not boot.

Already tried a different battery? Its quite cheap and I guess some power cells might have died and that would explain the malfunction, when you "stress" the phone and it needs more power. Maybe it is able to deal with low power, but high output simply takes it down.

I didn't buy a battery yet because I can't find one. I'm on vacation (Italy) and at the local phone service they told me they don't know this phone and asked me where it's from . and if I want a battery they have to order it and it takes time.
That's why I came here, hoping for a nice "custom" solution for the problem.
I think the battery does not know how to charge anymore, anyone knows a good clean wipe/format for the battery? besides discharge it complety and wipe stats.(because I cannot discharge it, when it's plugged in it says 100% and if I plug out the charger it dies)
thanks for the replies mates.
